Putin and Obama Cross Swords on Syria. What Next?

Shortly after the DEBKA aired a special video on the Syrian war's widening circle, Moscow announced Wednesday June 26, that the evacuation which had begun Friday of all military and diplomatic personnel from Syria was now complete, including the Russian naval base at Tartus.

"Russia decided to withdraw its personnel because of the risks from the conflict in Syria, as well as the fear of an incident involving the Russian military that could have larger consequences," said a defense ministry official in Moscow. He stressed that a 16-ship naval task force in the eastern Mediterranean remains on post and arms shipments, including anti-air weapons, would continue to the Syrian government in keeping with former contracts.

In another sign of an impending escalation in Syria, the Israeli Golan brigade staged Wednesday an unannounced war maneuver on the Golan, attended by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and top army chiefs. In London, Prime Minister David Cameron called the government's National Security Council into session in Downing Street on Syria. Opposition leader Ed Milliband was invited to attend the meeting, a custom observed only when issues of the highest security importance are discussed.

We are going to see Agenda 21 kick into high gear.  And Obama will bypass Congress to do it.  The only way to stop him is through funding.  Start calling your US Representative NOW and while you are running down the list of things you want them to vote against PLEASE ask them to defund Obama's green agenda.  We either stop this or you better buy stock in a candle company and buy yourself a bike because you won't be able to afford a car or to turn the lights on.  Once he forces us out of our cars the only choice many people will have will be to move closer to public transportation.  I was talking to our county school supervisor.  He told me we lost a lot of BEP money (this is money given to schools based on student headcount) because 178 students left Polk County schools (we are a very small county so this is a large number for our area).  I asked him why.....he told me the biggest reason he was given was because gas was so expensive they were moving closer to their job.  Immigration, Obamacare, and now his green agenda....this is a formula for destruction.

Most states adopting CCSS did so to be eligible to compete for federal funding. To have a chance at that money, recession-racked states agreed to adopt the CC standards and the aligned national tests sight unseen. Only five states did not sign on to the CCSS; so unless you live in Alaska, Nebraska, Minnesota, Texas, or Virginia, this will affect your school system.

We have a small window in which to act!  The State budget is due on June 30th so the timing is right.  Call!   Let the representatives in our State government know we are aware.  We know what they did back in 2001 and we want them to undo it!  We know their pension plans are responsible for PA's $47 billion unfunded liability which is equivalent to $3700 for each Pennsylvanian.  We know this pension crisis will cause more cuts to educational programs and more teacher layoffs.

WHAT IS COMMON CORE?

Common Core, or the Common Core State Standards Initative (CCSSI), as it is known at the State and Federal level, is a set of national education standards that will fulfill the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, through a waiver system. (The NCLB Act was put into place by Congress in 2001 and signed into law by President George W. Bush). Many states were failing to meet the NCLB Act requirements and, therefore, wanted something to replace NCLB.Common Core is part of the UN's plan for complete federal control over our education systems and the "Dumbing-down" of America.

 

Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI) are not state standards in the first place, and are nothing more then further federalization of our state education systems.

 

COMMON CORE IS A TROJAN HORSE AND TIED TO THE UNITED NATIONS (UN)

If you cannot see that Common Core is tied to the United Nations you have not done your homework! The major funder of the Common Core Movement is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which has pledged $60 million dollars to this effort. Bill and Melinda Gates are tied to UN through-and-through and have spent money in America and overseas for UN programs in Africa and all over the world for decades.

From the Conservative Teachers of American organization, they wrote an article entitled: "Common Core Standards and the Federalization of Education." In this article we read: "Many are concerned that the Common Core Standards, once successfully implemented, will provide unfettered access of our educational system by the United Nations. Some textbooks and curricula for our public schools have already been written by the [United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization] UNESCO and the International Baccalaureate program, that is currently in many school districts, across the United States. Grabbing additional access is a natural next step. Once they write the curricula, they must have authority to develop all testing tools."

 

The UN involvement in the American educational system has already been facilitated by treaties signed by American presidents from both parties. Those documents include but are not limited to: Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Treaty on the Rights of the Child, Civic Education: Classroom Connections, and Agenda 21.

 

The  US Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development (since 2003), is the nexus of the UNA-USA and Global Leadership Coalition at the Department of Education, which altogether leverages the UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development 2005-2014.  UNESCO, the lead agency of the Decade, defines Education for Sustainable Development as "education for everyone everywhere" for the "lifelong learning" of "present and future generations".  

 

The UNA-USA sponsors Model UN across America and tailors its Global Classrooms curricula to whichever setting the kids happen to be participating.  Children are unknowingly trained to respond with prescribed consensus to the situations, simulations and stimulation's of the particular activity (Delphi Technique).  Global Kids is the CFR arm of Connect All Schools Consortium, a new Department of Education network, led by Independent Sector and The White House via United Planet Partners.  Global Kids is preparing children for Agenda 21.  

 

The White House, NSA and CIA now have website divisions aimed at kids.  The Public Education Network is a national association funded by Independent Sector donors: plus Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Department of Education

 

"Funders" of the Rockefeller Foundation-backed International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), "Members" of the the Sustainability Consortium, backed by the EPA and BSR (Rockefeller Foundation, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, State Department) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-backed International City/County Management Association (ICMA): Center for Sustainable Communities (an ICLEI "Partner") are "partnered" with local schools and governments.  

 

From the Partnership for 21st Century Skills aligning the Common Core State Standards with "professional development" content for teachers and principals and Lego Robotics curricula for students (Carnegie Mellon/Lego Education); to software curricula through websites like: cyberschoolbus.un.org, icivics.org, atomiclearning.com, renlearn.org, brainpop.com and ttl4.sunburst.com; to the weekly deliveries of Time for Kids magazine and textbook curricula into classrooms; kids are programmed with UN-defined values.  State Governors administer Federal funds to "Community-Oriented Policing" systems like Crime Stoppers (The UN, FBI and other law enforcement and corporate partners administer Crime Stoppers International), the local student-equivalent of the Department of Homeland Security's' "See Something, Say Something" campaign; whereby children see hand-drawn posters of child characters on school walls displaying "Eyes Looking", "Ears Listening", "Mouth Reporting" with a hotline to call.  Presidents Bush and Obama have personally followed the George H. W. Bush/Clinton trail of the Agenda 21/ Sustainable America megabanks-maze in "bipartisan" fashion. 

 

UNESCO PLEDGES SUPPORT OF COMMON CORE

From UNESCO's document "The Vision of Education Reform in the United States" it states: "My department has been pleased to partner with the US Agency for International Development to help ensure that our best domestic practices are shared world-wide. The United States provides over a billion dollars annually to partner countries working on educational reform. Our goal for the coming year will be to work closely with global partners, including UNESCO, to promote qualitative improvements and system strengthening....Ultimately, education is the great equalizer. It is the one force that can consistently overcome differences in background, culture, and privilege."

 

THE UN'S AGENDA 21- COMMON CORE IMPLEMENTER!

In the United Nations Agenda 21 (Guide for the 21st Century), Chapters #25 and #36 specifically talk about education of our children:

 

Principle #25- "Children and Youth in Sustainable Development." In the "Activites 25.9.d" it states: "Ensure access for all youth to all types of education, wherever appropriate, providing alternative learning structures, ensure that education reflects the economic and social needs of youth and incorporates the concepts of environmental training, implementing innovative methods aimed at increasing practical skills, such as environmental scouting."

 

Principle #36- "Promoting Education, Public Awareness and Training." In the Activities Section of this document in "36.5.g" we read: "Within two years the United Nations system should undertake a comprehensive review of its educational programmes, encompassing training and public awareness, to reassess priorites and reallocae resources. The UNESCO/UNEP International Environmental Education Programme should, in cooperation with the appropriate bodies of the United Nations system, Governments, non-governmental organizations and others, establish a porgramme within two years to integrate the decisions of the Conference into the existing United Nations framework adapted to the need of the educators at different levels and circumstances. Regional organizations and national authorities should be encouraged to elaborate similar parallel programmes and opportunies by conducting an analysis of how to mobilize different sectors of the population in order to assess and address their environmental and development education needs."

 

In the Activities Section of this document in "36.5 h" we read: "There is a need to strengthen, within five years, information exchange by enhancing technologies and capacities necessary to promote environment and development education and public awareness. Countries should cooperate with each other and with the various social sectors and population groups to prepare educational tools that include regional environment and development issues and initiatives, using learning materials and resources suited to their own requirements." Sounds just like PARCC and SLDS. ASU's Institute for Global Sustainability and their "Sustainable Cities Network" is doing a fine job "brain-washing" our students in our high schools on sustainability, global warming (aka climate change), etc. Go here to meet the ASU sustainability schools!

A group that allowed this kind of rhetoric to be said at their meeting? I don't think I want them developingeducational standards!  Please read to the bottom for transcripts from the 1987 NGA meetings chaired by Bill Clinton.  These transcripts are eye-opening.  They are clearly more concerned with workers for the manufacturing.  They seem to have concerns that we have students who can't read well enough (non-English speaking especially) to function in the manufacturing plants, and then on the other end of the spectrum... too many with higher ed degrees who don't WANT to work in the manufacturing.  So... what to do about all this?  Hummm.... standards!  Make sure they read well enough to function as the industrial workers, but not so well that they don't want to!!!   This is the John D. Rockefeller goal of the early 20th century when he started pushing for compulsory government schooling and funding the building of government schools.

1987 Annual meeting.   See page 34of this document to see how those governors seem to be concerned that we aren't training our students for the "workforce." June 11, 2013: Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) leads the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee in a markup of the Strengthening America's Schools Act of 2013, an education initiative to replace No Child Left Behind.  http://www.c-spanvideo.org/event/220036

At the June 10 Common Core forum in Fayette County, Superintendent Barge stated over and over again that if Georgia wants to change these standards at any time, we have the ability to do so.   The testimony below contradicts this belief by Superintendent Barge and confirms that states who adopted the Common Core standards DO NOT have the ability to change the standards in any way on their own.

2:23:00 - Rep. Tim Scott discusses his amendment to Harkin's bill.  Instead of states being forced to adopt blanket standards like Common Core as a prerequisite for funding, let's put decision-making back in the hands of parents and teachers in our communities."

2:31:00 - It is admitted that states who want to change the CC standards,the Secretary of Education would have to approve it.  States DO NOT have the ultimate decision making abilities!

2:39:00 - Alexander reads page 89 of the bill stating that any changes to standards MUST go through the Secretary of Education for approval.

As are most of the amendments offered by Republicans to this education bill, the Scott Amendment is defeated 12-10.

DATA COLLECTING: Senator Burr at the 1:00:00 mark reveals information about ADDITIONAL data points that this legislation will add to the data mining.  He says that his count is now 500 data points.  

TEACHER EVALUATIONS: Senator Alexander at 2:00:00 mark discusses his amendment to end federally mandated school and teacher evaluations.  He says states had a "gun to their head" to adopt the teacher evaluations because they were desperate for NCLB waivers.   He makes the charge that the Harkin bill creates a "NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARD."  The Gates Foundation involvement is mentioned frequently.  

Harkin says over and over "this is voluntary."  If states don't want to implement the programs in the bill we just don't accept the money!"    More strong evidence that our states need to "just say no" to all federal education dollars.   As is pointed out in this debate: Any private business that entered into a partnership where the partner who contributed 10% funding got 80-90% of the control (as is the case with education funding under NCLB and Common Core) the partnership is DOOMED TO FAIL!

If you value liberty and understand how dangerous government mandated biometric ID is to our freedom, you need to read and understand every word of what I am writing about today. Something very important is happening so stay with me.
 
Over the years, the Constitutional Alliance has consistently fought against mandatory biometric ID and for the right of all citizens to be free of it.  Government mandated biometric ID is the lynchpin of the modern surveillance society.  The amount of control this system gives government over individuals is an anathema to a free society and we oppose it being imposed on anyone - period.  You cannot reconcile a free society with a surveillance society.
 
The founders of this country called religious freedom "the first freedom" because it is a precondition for other important rights..  Try to imagine the value of freedom of speech, or freedom of association without religious freedom and you will quickly see why religious freedom, also referred to as 'freedom of conscience' is so important.
 
Here is the Big News
 
This past week, 19 June 2013, a Motion for Summary Judgment was filed in Kaye Beach's lawsuit in the state of Oklahoma (You can read it here).  This is a pre-trial motion that presents the undisputed facts of her case and makes the strongest assertion based on those facts, that her rights are being violated.  The Motion for Summary Judgment asks the Judge, based on these undisputed facts, to rule in her favor.  Kaye fully expects a favorable ruling on this Motion but in the event that this doesn't happen, her lawsuit will continue on. You need only to read the first 30 pages of the Motion to understand the arguments Kaye and her attorneys have made.  If you choose to read further you can read about the answers the Department of Public Safety (the department that oversees the issuance of driver's licenses) gave to Kaye's "Discovery Motion". 
 
Kaye Beach's lawsuit, is the only substantial challenge to government mandated biometric ID, to my knowledge, that exists anywhere in our country.
 
Here is a brief recap of the issue and basis for Kaye's legal challenge;
 
Kaye is opposed to mandatory biometric identification which is required of her if she wishes to have a state issued driver's license or ID card.  As we know, the ability to drive a vehicle and also banking, many financial transactions, as well as a host of other necessary daily activities are dependent upon having a government issued photo ID most commonly presented in the form of state driver's license or ID card. Try to go without one and you will soon find (like Kaye has!) that not having a valid ID is no small matter.
 
In September, 2011 Kaye filed a lawsuit against the state of Oklahoma for the unwarranted collection of her biometrics and for violating her religious freedom, both of which are protected under Oklahoma law.  Kaye is a born again Christian.

1. Gives NO guidelines for how to conduct a Con Con. 
2. NO rules on how delegates will be eligible or selected
3. States have NO Guarantees they will even be represented

Educational freedom is under attack in Pennsylvania. If you haven't heard, Common Core is the top-down education takeover that will force children to learn under a curriculum developed by special interests.

1.  Yes, You Will Be Made to Care

You will be made to care about gay marriage. You may think it does not affect you or will not affect you or you can support it and leave well enough alone, but you cannot. The secular left and aggressive gay rights activists will not allow you to.

You must either fully embrace it or be shunned. You may think it does not affect your marriage, your life, or anything else, but you will be made to care - you will not be allowed to accept that others can disagree on the issue due to their orthodox faith. The slow march toward the destruction of the marital institution now picks up pace with Anthony Kennedy's decision in Windsor. What is, at its heart, a tax case, became a vehicle for Kennedy to declare malicious intent on the preservation of marriage.

That's clear from the decision. In the 90's, the Defense of Marriage Act was enacted to preserve and recognize the traditional marital structure that the United States had had since its founding. But Anthony Kennedy declared that the purpose was ill will toward gays - ignoring that activists were seeking to upend the order of things as they had been.

2.  You Will Be Made to Care

The left will allow no fence sitting. You may not believe me. You may think me hyperbolic. But the history of the world shows this. Events ultimately come to a head. They boil to their essence. And at that point you must choose.

That is why so many Christians are fighting. Because we see in Europe and Canada what will happen here. Christianity is a religion of the city square. Christ compels us to "go forth and teach." It is the Great Commission. We cannot go forth and teach when the left bars us from the town square.

Many people say we should have legal gay marriage, but not have religious gay marriage.

The left will not honor the distinction. Look to Canada. Preachers can be brought up for hate crimes charges merely for discussing passages of the Bible that deal with same sex sexual relations. 3.  'Gay Marriage' and Religious Freedom Are Not Compatible

The kids these days on the right are full of a great libertarian notion that "hey, let's just get the government out of marriage."

"Rock on," say other libertarians.

They then all smugly self-congratulate themselves, pat themselves on the back, and move on to other issues.

What they ignore is that the left will never take marriage out of the hands of the government. The left cannot. But it goes beyond that. The left cannot take marriage out of government because for so long it has been government through which marriages were legitimized to the public and the left must also use government to silence those, particularly the religious, who refuse to play along. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →

4.  We Must Stand Witness

On Tuesday night, a flown-in rent-a-mob screamed, jeered, and overrode ordinary small-r republican governance in Texas in order to make sure that viable children in utero, 20 weeks old and older, could still be killed on their mothers' say-so. They also opposed efforts to make it so that a woman receiving an abortion did so in a clean medical facility, because a lot of abortionists don't run those.

They stood with Kermit Gosnell and Douglas Karpen, the doctors who, respectively, are in jail for murdering children of the same age and in horrible sanitary conditions, and likely soon will be. And they were cheered on almost unanimously by print and television media.

Mollie Hemingway has a wonderful writeup on this, but I wanted to add a part. Because you see, we as Americans allow this madness - mobs running over governance, children being butchered - and I feel it is important to explain exactly what is at stake here.

I do this not because it will change a single mind. If you support abortion at 20 weeks and after - when the baby looks like what it is, a baby - then nothing I say will persuade you. I do this because we must bear witness to what we allow to be done, and we pay for the products and services made by those who cheer it on.

This is about the brutal murder of a child, in a way that were it done to a rabbit would end with the killer in prison. It is a murder because the person actually doing it knows he is cutting up another human being and does so without any pang of conscience - with, if you will excuse the phrase, a cold and abandoned heart. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →

Ready for Hillary

Ready for Hillary is the PAC run by an environmentalist sweatshop owner and sleazy Texas storm chasing lawyer whose mission is to pave the way for the coronation of Hillary Clinton at the Democratic National Convention.

And then the cameras will pan to the strategically selected multiracial girls sitting on the shoulders of 

their mothers holding up signs reading, "Hillary Taught Me I Can Be Anything I Want To Be" and the same media personalities who trashed her bid in 2008 will be discussing how great it will be to have a female president in 2016.

The name "Ready for Hillary" is a callback to that 2008 election when the country wasn't ready for her. There is no admission that Hillary may have been unready in 2008. Hillary is never unready. Hillary never makes any mistakes. Not even when four Americans end up dead.

It's not Hillary who wasn't ready in 2008. It was the country that wasn't ready for Hillary. And now she will graciously give the nation of fools and ignoramuses another chance to vote for her. It's a noblesse oblige that should touch even the coldest Alaskan heart.

Why vote for Hillary? Because Hillary wants you to vote for her. Because she expects you to vote for her. There is that cloud of unmet expectations that she carries with her everywhere she goes, drifting through the frosty smiles that shift into the overenthusiastic mannerisms of a woman who has never gotten comfortable with audiences because she really doesn't like people very much.

There is no actual reason to vote for Hillary except that she's running. Obama could at least cobble together some stage-managed charisma, a few lifted quotes from African-American writers and a pinch of skeptical leftism into the persona of a political machine. Hillary never even had that. All the charisma is on Bill's side of the family. Hillary delivers speeches with determination, but no heart. Like everything that involves dealing with people, you can tell that she's just trying to get through it.

High Court Rules On Marriage

Friends, we are still digesting the complex decisions handed down today by the Supreme Court regarding the Defense of Marriage Act and California's Proposition 8. At first glance it appears to be a split decision, but not as bad as many feared it would be. We will have a special report later this afternoon with more analysis.


Buckeye State Buyer's Remorse

When I read new polling data today out of Ohio, I couldn't believe my eyes. Just 40% of Buckeye State voters approve of President Obama's job performance, while 57% disapprove. That is Obama's lowest approval rating ever in this key swing state.

But my astonishment soon turned to anger. Why? Because for the second time in a row, we lost Ohio to Obama. The reasons are many but the conclusion is obvious. The state is dominated by blue-collar working-class people, who tend to be pro-life and oppose same-sex "marriage." Yet they determined that the Republican standard bearer and the GOP generally did not care about people like them.

Of course part of the reason they believe that is due to the unceasing class warfare campaign that has been waged by Obama and his left-wing allies. Countless millions of dollars were spent depicting Mitt Romney as a job-killing "vulture capitalist" who was oblivious to the struggles of average people.

Here's what has me so angry. We can't control what Democrats say about conservatism. But we can fight to control the agenda the GOP offers to the American people.

If our party continues to talk about nothing other than cutting Social Security checks and tightening our belts, if it keeps falling on it sword to prevent tax hikes for billionaires and if it embraces an immigration bill that clobbers working-class wages, we will continue to lose elections to the likes of Barack Obama.

Listen to Republican politicians and count how often they talk about hard working families. Count the speeches devoted to ending the unholy alliance between Big Business and Big Government -- crony capitalism. Count how many times you hear them getting tough on China and how it robs our economy of blue-collar jobs.

You will seldom hear these issues addressed because the party's rhetoric is almost exclusively devoted to investment and Wall Street concerns. Those are important issues, but they are not enough to win elections.

And, of course, count how many times you hear Republicans talk about the sanctity of life, religious liberty and strengthening the family for everybody, including minorities. All too often they are giving it lip service. Yet they can't figure out why Ohioans are voting for Obama rather than taking a chance with Mitt Romney and the Republican Party.

You'll hear a lot of rhetoric from Republicans about entrepreneurs. I am a big supporter of men and women who risk their capital to start new businesses. That should remain one of the main focuses of our message.

But most Americans will not start their own business. Most Americans will work for someone else, and the conservative message has got to appeal to those millions who live paycheck to paycheck.


The Left Fights To Win

Last night the Texas legislature failed to pass an abortion reform bill that would have banned late-term abortions performed after 20 weeks of pregnancy. According to a January Gallup poll, only 27% of Americans believe abortion should be "generally legal" in the second trimester and just 14% believe abortion should be legal in the third trimester.

This should not be a controversial issue. So what went wrong? Once again the left resorted to mob action to defeat the bill. Hundreds of screaming pro-abortion protestors shouted down legislators as they tried to conclude the session.

We are seeing this tactic over and over again. Do you remember the riots that occurred in California after Proposition 8 passed? Do you remember the mobs in Madison, Wisconsin?

This strategy is being used right now in North Carolina, where voters have elected a Republican majority to the state legislature for the first time in modern history. The GOP is undertaking needed reforms, but day after day rent-a-mobs are showing up to harass conservative legislators.

New York Senator Chuck Schumer recently threatened "massive demonstrations," "a million people on the Mall in Washington," unless the House passes the Senate's amnesty bill. Increasingly the left is using intimidation to turn America into something we won't recognize.

Among the dozens of things the conservative movement needs to do when it comes to building assets -- more funding and better technology -- we'd better start finding ways to get conservatives to "vote with their feet" in order to counter the increasing use of political mobs by the left.


Radical Islamists In The White House

The  Investigative Project on Terrorism released a disturbing report today indicating that radical Islamist leader Sheik Abdullah Bin Bayyah attended a meeting at the White House earlier this month with top administration officials -- at the request of the Obama Administration!

According to a White House spokesman, those in the meeting discussed "a wide range of issues including poverty, global health efforts and Bin Bayyah's efforts to counter the Al Qaeda narrative."

Bin Bayyah may not be a card-carrying member of Al Qaeda, but he's far from a "moderate." He is a supporter of Hamas, which carries out homicide bombings and calls for Israel's destruction. In 2004 Bin Bayyah supported a fatwa calling for the killing of U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

If this report is accurate, members of Congress should be holding hearings and demanding resignations.  

The Culture War Continues & How You Can Help Win It!

Today the Supreme Court handed down two decisions on the meaning of marriage. Here is my analysis with an action item at the end.

Many conservatives had feared the possibility of broad rulings from the Supreme Court today dramatically redefining the institution of marriage. In reality, the rulings were relatively narrow in scope. While we are relieved that the worst-case scenario did not happen today, it is nevertheless one more step toward the redefinition of marriage by judicial fiat.

Regarding the Defense of Marriage Act, the Supreme Court ruled in a 5-to-4 decision authored by Justice Anthony Kennedy that Congress could not deny federal benefits to married same-sex couples in states where such marriages are legal.

Justice Kennedy declared that the regulation of marriage was essentially a state issue and Congress had no authority to deny benefits to couples legally married. Therefore the Supreme Court declared Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act, which governed federal benefits, unconstitutional.

It must be stressed that this decision left intact Section 2, which gives states the right to refuse to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states. The Supreme Court did not order Mississippi to recognize same-sex marriages performed in Massachusetts. States that have solid laws defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman were not forced to recognize same-sex marriage today. But that battle is coming.

The Proposition 8 decision was a technical ruling on procedural grounds related to who had proper standing to represent the voters of California who approved the ballot initiative. The justices effectively punted and refused to decide the case. Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for the majority, declared: "We have never before upheld the standing of a private party to defend the constitutionality of a state statute when state officials have chosen not to. We decline to do so for the first time here."

The irony of these two decisions is inescapable. In the DOMA case, the court's majority clearly sided with the right of states to define marriage when they are choosing to let men "marry" other men. Yet in the Proposition 8 decision, the court decided not to decide when the people of the state have voted to uphold the normal meaning of marriage.

Our condolences to the people of California. They exercised their right of self-government only to have state officials ignore them and to have judges treat them like serfs and deny them the right to define marriage.

As sad as this is for the people of California, we have avoided at least for today the establishment by the Supreme Court of a constitutional right nationwide for men to "marry" men. There were not five votes on the high court willing to declare yet another non-existent right.

This guarantees that the battle will be fought out in state after state. It is a warning to our side that when you elect state legislators and governors you must get from them a pledge to defend your values and to appoint judges who will respect the will of the people.


Going Forward

Folks, make no mistake about it. While this effort is being driven by the left, there are Republicans (I debated one recently) who want this. And there is a larger group of Republicans who are privately relieved.

They will claim the issue is settled. "The court has ruled; what can I do?" they will argue. Cowardly politicians and anyone else tempted to think we should just concede do not understand that the attack will now only intensify against churches, schools, businesses and families who don't share the left's radical view of marriage.

Step by step, cultural extremists are ripping America away from its Judeo-Christian foundation. The radical movement that was somewhat successful in the Supreme Court today has essentially equated the Book of Genesis, where the notion of marriage being between a man and a woman originates, with bigotry.

Some may think the battle is over. It is not! And the battle is about more than just marriage. The whole concept of "We the People" was undermined.

Justice Antonin Scalia wrote in his dissent in the DOMA decision: "This case is about power in several respects. It is about the power of our people to govern themselves, and the power of this Court to pronounce the law.  Today's opinion aggrandizes the latter, with the predictable consequence of diminishing the former."

Religious liberty is also at stake. The militant homosexual movement will now increase its efforts to force those whose faith teaches them otherwise to embrace and subsidize what they find morally objectionable, just as Obama Administration is doing now to Catholic institutions and Christian businesses through Obamacare's mandates.


What Will You Do?

Our phones are ringing off the hook. I have been doing interviews all day long. Left-wing reporters can barely contain their glee with today's decisions undermining marriage.

I am pushing back against their spin and doing everything I can to make them realize that while today's results were bad, this was not a catastrophic day for our values or the pro-family movement.

We're back at Camp Donkeyland peeking in as kindly old Uncle Democrat is once again scaring his Republican children with campfire ghost stories. This time Uncle Democrat tells his naïve little children Marco, Kelly, Bob, John and Lindsey that global warming is real and if they don't support Uncle Democrat's "fix" for it they will be labeled "Enemies of the State."

He asks, "You don't want to be labeled an 'Enemy of the State' do you children?" Little Marco, the most reliable of the Republican children, proudly chirps up "No 'Enemy of the State' for me." Is there no limit to the incompetence and stupidity of the Obama administration?

If they had wanted to control the movements of Edward Snowden, they should have revoked his passport immediately, rather than waiting-inexplicably- until he had arrived in Russia.
