Armed Forces Day

On May 17, 1952, the New York Times ran an article reminding readers of Armed Forces Day, observed that year while American troops were fighting in Korea. "This is the day on which we have the welcome opportunity to pay special tribute to the men and women . . . who are in the service of their country all over the world," the Times noted. "Armed Forces Day won't be a matter of parades and receptions for a good many of them. They will all be in the line of duty and some of them may give their lives in that duty."

Armed Forces Day is observed on the third Saturday in May. It's a day to salute soldiers in all branches of the military and remember that we would have no peace, security, or freedom- no United States-without them.

While Memorial Day honors America's war dead, and Veteran's Day honors those who have served in times past, Armed Forces Day recognizes those presently serving. The nation has observed this patriotic holiday since 1950. The military often sponsors parades, air shows, and tours of ships, planes, and bases on Armed Forces Day.
"It is our most earnest hope that those who are in positions of peril, that those who have made exceptional sacrifices, yes, and those who are afflicted with plain drudgery and boredom, may somehow know that we hold them in exceptional esteem," the Times noted. "Perhaps if we are a little more conscious of our debt of honored affection they may be a little more aware of how much we think of them."

FRIDAY DIGEST

Crisis, Scandal and Tyranny

May 17, 2013

"If the federal government should ... make a tyrannical use of its powers, the people ... must appeal to the standard they have formed, and take such measures to redress the injury done to the Constitution as the exigency may suggest and prudence justify." --Alexander Hamilton
2013-05-17-digestScandal lineup -- Obama, Holder and that low-level guy in Cincinnati

It was a bad week for the president. Of course, opposition to his agenda is nothing new, and neither is his history of using scandal and crisis to maintain his perpetual campaign. What made this week especially bad is that his Leftmedia sycophants suddenly got a dose of his medicine.

The IRS targeting groups with "Patriot" or "Tea Party" in their name was the big news of the week, but we've endured four-and-a-half years of this kind of scandal and crisis exploitation by Barack Obama -- Benghazi, Operation Fast and Furious, Newtown, the BP oil spill, crony "stimulus" deals, EPA political favoritism (more on that below) and HHS fundraising (also more below), just to name a few. For the IRS, Obama tells us that no special prosecutor is needed. He's got it; no worries.

In every case, plausible deniability is the name of the game. Obama is always careful to use bureaucratic managers who act as cutouts to take the perceived fall for his misdeeds -- those "low-level employees" in Cincinnati, for example -- but the community organizer in chief has cultivated corruption in government since 2009. You can take the politician out of Chicago, but you can't take Chicago out of the politician.

Former adviser David Axelrod offered his explanation of the problem: "Part of being president is there's so much beneath you that you can't know because the government's so vast." Yes, he said this in defense of the president. In reality, that's the best case anyone could make for constitutionally limited government. As Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) observed, "The more power any government has, the more power it will abuse."

In related news, another IRS scandal is brewing. A HIPAA-covered data management company is suing the IRS after agents seized the personal and confidential medical records of more than 10 million patients in 2011. The IRS had a search warrant to obtain financial information of a former employee of the data management company, but according to the legal complaint, "It did not authorize any seizure of any healthcare or medical record of any persons, least of all third parties completely unrelated to the matter. This is an action involving the corruption and abuse of power... No search warrant authorized the seizure of these records; no subpoena authorized the seizure of these records; none of the 10,000,000 Americans were under any kind of known criminal or civil investigation and their medical records had no relevance whatsoever to the IRS search."

By the way, we learned yesterday that Sarah Hall Ingram, who headed up Obama's IRS office in charge of tax-exempt groups during its period of conservative persecution and was paid $103,390 just in bonuses during that time, is now in charge of enforcing ObamaCare at the IRS. And we're supposed to trust this government with our health care or with background checks for gun purchases or with countless other unconstitutional encroachments in our daily lives?

The Leftmedia finally began to understand -- or at least to feel the brunt of -- the problem when the Justice Department seized phone records on more than 20 separate lines used by the Associated Press in April and May of last year. Trafficking guns to Mexico that result in the deaths of two federal agents and hundreds of Mexican citizens? Not interested. Leaving four Americans to die in a terrorist attack in Benghazi and then lying about what happened to ensure re-election? Got better things to do. Listening in on AP phone calls? Outrageous!

Yet the AP investigation is entirely different from the other issues, except that it appears, as was the case with the Benghazi cover up, to be yet another attempt to promote Obama as having conquered al-Qa'ida. According to Fox News, "The government would not say why it sought the records. Officials have previously said in public testimony that the U.S. attorney in Washington is conducting a criminal investigation into who may have provided information contained in a May 7, 2012, AP story about a foiled terror plot. The story disclosed details of a CIA operation in Yemen that stopped an Al Qaeda plot in the spring of 2012 to detonate a bomb on an airplane bound for the United States." It's likely that cover was blown for an inside source as a result.

Those who leak information that is classified or that exposes intel methods should be caught and prosecuted, notwithstanding the general media belief that they're above the law. Perhaps now the Leftmedia will shake off their Stockholm Syndrome and begin to take seriously this administration's habitual abuse of power.

(Speaking of things classified, the U.S. Marshals Service lost two "known or suspected terrorists"from its witness protection program. Oops!)

Finally, we note again that it's no small irony that Obama delivered a commencement address at Ohio State University two weeks ago, where he counseled graduates, "Unfortunately, you've grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn ... that tyranny is always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices."

Reject them, he says -- because they're telling the truth.

MIDDLE EASTERNERS CAUGHT TRESPASSING AT BOSTON RESERVOIR

Explained they were 'chemical engineers' interested in water supply

Seven people from Pakistan, Singapore and Saudi Arabia - the country of 15 of the 19 Sept. 11 hijackers - were caught trespassing in the middle of the night at a reservoir  from which Boston draws its drinking water.

The report by the local CBS affiliate noted that the five men and two women said they were chemical engineers and were in the area because of "their education and career interests."

Last week, WND reported the FBI alleged a Muslim man who was arrested in a recent terror plot in New York was planning to kill as many as 100,000 people by contaminating the air or water supply in a major U.S. city.

In that case, Ahmed Abassi, 26, was studying chemical engineering at Laval University in Quebec City, reported Canada's CBC News.

Abassi's plan did not materialize beyond discussions, but he also has been linked to Chiheb Esseghaier, one of two Canadian residents arrested in the alleged plot to derail a Via passenger train.

In the more recent case, authorities in Belchertown, Mass., told CBS that the seven were trespassing at Quabbin Reservoir, described as one of the country's biggest man-made public water supplies.

Whether Catholic or not.......

Whether or not Pennsylvanians will be paying for abortions through the Affordable Care Act is largely in the hands of our state senate and Governor Tom Corbett "governor@pa.gov."As per the below message from the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference,

"HB 818 passed the House in April and it is now the Senate's turn to take up this important legislation. Your senator needs to hear from you today- tell him or her to vote 'yes' on HB 818 with no amendments....

"Click the link and send your message:

Of the four senators from Bucks County, only Senator Bob Mensch "bmensch@pasen.gov" receives a very unfavorable rating from pro-abortion Planned Parenthood.  Bucks County should be rightfully proud of this ProLife champion!

Pro-abortion Planned Parenthood gives mixed ratings to both Senator Stewart Greenleaf  "sgreenleaf@pasen.gov" and to Senator Tommy Tomlinson "rtomlinson@pasen.gov."  Greenleaf and Tomlinson need strong pro life feedback from Bucks Countians!

Pro-abortion Planned Parenthood sees Senator Chuck McIlhinney "cmcilhinney@pasen.gov" as one of its own!  Considering that McIlhinney identifies himself as a Catholic, this is absolutely scandalous and needs to be made clear as such by ALL of Bucks County's clergy.  As per Pope Francis,
no one can "receive Holy Communion and at the same time act with deeds or words against the commandments, particularly when abortion, euthanasia, and other grave crimes against life and family are encouraged. This responsibility weighs particularly over legislators, heads of governments, and health professionals" (cf, http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/francesco/letters/2013/index_en.htm).

Anti - IRS Nationwide Rally sponsored by The Tea Party Patriots and Valley Forge Patriots

  • Tuesday, May 21, 2013

12:00 PM NOON

601 South Henderson Road, King of Prussia, PA (edit map)

  • This is a rally against the actions of the IRS in targeting Tea Party groups, 912 groups, religious groups (including Franklin Graham) and individuals (Romney supporters). If you are following the news, you know the IRS made it extremely difficult for conservative groups to obtain 501 C4 status and that they performed unwarranted audits of conservative groups and individuals. This was done (and is still being done) prior to the 2012 elections and knowledge about this was withheld until after the elections. This is criminal. Now, the IRS is to be in charge of Obamacare implementation under the direction of the same woman that was involved in these deplorable actions. This is outrageous! Let them hear from us! Bring signs and bring your big conservative spirit! Please, no rudeness or ignorant signs or behavior. Be There!

Note:  Tuesday May 21 is also election day so don't forget to vote.

May 19, 2013, 7 PM
Dear Members and Friends,
On Friday, the Association sent out a follow-up press release reiterating our call for the appointment of a Special Prosecutor (Independent Counsel) in the IRS scandal. (See below.)
Four days earlier (Monday, May 13), the Association became the first conservative group in the nation to publicly demand that the Obama administration make such an appointment.
Due to our initial press release, we were able to generate national media interest as NBC News tweeted our call. Here's how it appeared in the tweet:
Independence Hall Tea Party Association calls on White House to appoint special prosecutor to investigate IRS scandal - @NBCNews
Story metadata: Submitted by editor
Later that day, NBC Nightly News interviewed Association President, Teri Adams. We initially thought the interview would be aired during the Nightly News broadcast at 6:30 PM. However, the interview was, instead, shown on local NBC affiliates throughout
the nation. Here's a link to the national NBC story which contains a clip of Teri's interview:
KDKA's Mike Pintek Show invited Board Member Don Adams to appear for a half hour segment and WPHT's Dom Giordano and Rich Zeoli Shows also aired the story--with Rich Zeoli making the same call for a Special Prosecutor.
While we had hoped for more coverage, we were fortunate for the coverage we received.
Please realize that our independent organization does not have the backing of national groups like Americans for Prosperity or FreedomWorks--groups that spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on public relations staff and consultants that then place stories and arrange interviews.
We earn our press coverage due to the content and timeliness of our news releases--and it is costs almost nothing--except for the volunteer effort.
You should know, since our original call for a Special Prosecutor, several other prominent local and national individuals have joined our company, including Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), Peggy Noonan, Governor Mitt Romney, Senator Rob Portman (R-OH), and, of course, WPHT Talk Show Rich Zeoli.

First Group to Call for Special Prosecutor,

Reiterates its Demand; Says Attorney General

Eric Holder Cannot Conduct a Credible Investigation

Philadelphia, PA (May 17, 2013) -- The Independence Hall Tea Party Association, the largest and oldest independent Tea Party group in the Tri-State region, and, as of this past Monday morning, the first conservative group in the nation to call on the Obama Administration to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS scandal, is reiterating its demand today--especially in light of what has been learned since the news story surfaced last Friday. (See original news stories links and press release below.)

http://www.breakingnews.com/item/ahZzfmJyZWFraW5nbmV3cy13d3ctaHJkcg0LEgRTZWVkGNOd-A4M/2013/05/13/independence-hall-tea-party-association-calls-on-white-house-to-appoin

http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2013/05/13/tea-party-pushes-back-against-irs-intimidation/

"Late Monday afternoon, the public learned that the Obama administration, with Attorney General Eric Holder's approval, wiretapped the Associated Press and, perhaps, other news outlets," said Association President

Teri Adams.

"On Tuesday of this past week, the Treasury Department's Inspector General disclosed, in his report, that nearly 500 conservative groups who applied for tax-exempt status dating back to March, 2010, many of them Tea Party and Patriot organizations, had been targeted for harassment by the IRS with burdensome delays and inappropriate inquiries."

"The following day, Eric Holder said the Office of Attorney General would

lead an investigation into the brewing IRS Scandal.

"That's just not acceptable," said Ms. Adams. "Mr. Holder, as a representative of the Obama Administration, which could possibly be implicated in this scandal and one involving the wiretapping of various news outlets, has a serious conflict of interest.

"While Congressional hearings are also taking place in the House of Representatives, those proceedings are subject to criticism, legitimate or not, that they are partisan in nature.

"That is why a special prosecutor or counsel should immediately be

appointed to investigate this highly explosive scandal," said Ms. Adams.

"The appointment of a special prosecutor is the only serious way to get to the bottom of this mess."

Group Demands Special Prosecutor Be Appointed in IRS Scandal; Suggests Obama Administration Could Be Implicated

Philadelphia, PA (May 13, 2013) -- The Independence Hall Tea Party Association, the largest independent Tea Party group in the Tri-State region, is calling on the Obama Administration to appoint a special prosecutor to get to the bottom of the recent IRS scandal.

A rather peculiar and curiously-timed statement issued this past Friday, by mid-level IRS administrator Lois Lerner, said that the agency had been singling out Tea Party and Patriot groups who filed for 501c tax-exempt status by forcing them to undergo additional burdensome scrutiny above and beyond the standard application process.
IRS intimidation of conservative groups has been ongoing since 2010.
"None of this is news to the Independence Hall Tea Party Association," said Association President Teri Adams. "Due to our concerns with the Obama Administration's influence over the IRS, the Association decided not to file for federal tax-exempt status."
"In addition, unlike most Tea Party groups across the nation, we formed a federal PAC to handle political endorsements and activities--making it less likely that we would become targets of an IRS inquiry.
"The harassment of conservative groups by an arm of the US government is frightening, un-American, and Nixonesque," said Ms. Adams.
"We call on the Obama administration to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS and any other government entity or official linked to this brewing scandal. This would include anyone directly or indirectly connected to the Obama administration.
"As for the IRS, the Association, like everyone else, is waiting for the full report of the Treasury Department's Inspector General--which is expected in the next few days.
"The Inspector General's report, we insist, should signal the beginning of a more thorough investigation--not the last word in this highly explosive affair."

ZOA

On Thursday, May 30, the organization Friends of Israel will celebrate its 75th anniversary of helping Jews and the Jewish State of Israel with a gala in Voorhees, N.J. We hope you will attend their reasonably priced dinner as a show of support and unity.

As you will note, this Christian Zionist group began its mission 10 years before Israel was re-established. They were originally known as "The Friends of Israel Refugee Relief Committee." To this day they continue to be advocates for Israel throughout the world and lead an annual mission to Israel. Though this group is international in scope, it is based in South Jersey.

Friends of Israel leadership have attended our Philadelphia ZOA Gala each year and last year we honored its immediate past executive director, William Sutter, and his wife, Annette. We see Bill (who is still quite active) and his successor, Jim Showers, at nearly every pro-Israel event in the region. They truly are, as their name indicates, "friends of Israel."

Tickets are just $45. The event takes place at The Mansion on Main Street, on May 30, beginning at 5:30 p.m.........

Kosher meals are available

Please call me at our Office for all of the details at 610-660-9466. I hope you will be able to attend.

We also offer again this year special benefits for Patriot Eagle and Patriot sponsors.

We have some exciting new wrinkles planned for this year's event, and our list of confirmed speakers already includes:

  • Ezra Levant - Canadian lawyer, author, newspaper columnist with Sun Media, and former publisher of the Western Standard. Hauled before a Canadian "human rights commission" because he published the Danish cartoons that satirized Muhammad, Levant's personal account of a politically correct government inquisition is something you won't want to miss!

The National Conference & Legislative Briefing will begin on Wed. evening, June 19th, and conclude on Friday, June 21st at noon, with additional optional training sessions Friday afternoon.

2013 RedState Gathering -- Early Bird Special

Dear RedStater,

We announced earlier this week that we'll be headed to New Orleans the first weekend in August for this year's RedState Gathering. As a member of our RedState family, we'd like to extend exclusive Early Bird registration and pricing to you (just use the promo code EARLYBIRD on the registration page).

The 2013 RedState Gathering will be held August 2-3 at the Westin Canal Place in New Orleans, LA. We'll have two full days of speakers and activities and you can expect a good mix of elected officials and potential candidates for the 2014 cycle (we'll keep you informed as additions are made).

The Gathering has always been a unique event, in that all speakers, even the most in-demand and influential, pay their own way and make their own travel arrangements. This helps keep our costs low, a savings we are happy to pass along to our conference attendees. Additionally, we strive to get you up close to the speakers, ask them to take your questions, and we take care of nearly all your meals during the conference. Bottom line: fewer frills, more thrills and access.

We are thrilled to once again be joined by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who will be hosting a reception for all attendees and appear at the Gathering podium as a keynote speaker. A huge hit in 2012, we're looking forward to Gov. Jindal playing an even larger role this year as he welcomes us to his home state.

Now, more than ever, true conservative activists must come together to exchange ideas and strategize for the future. That's what this year's Gathering is all about. We hope you'll join us.

Sincerely,

Erick Erickson
Editor-in-Chief, RedState

The 912 Gazette

From a trusted friend:

As some of you may know, I am associated with Coventry Christian Schools as a parent of a graduate (2010) and as member of the Board of Trustees.   Last October we spent a wonderful evening honoring Mark Niehls at our revitalized Founder's Dinner and celebrated our shared heritage in the remarkable community that is Coventry Christian Schools. Our vision for future Founder's Dinners is to inspire and inform not only our alumni and current CCS families but to inspire and inform the Tri-County Area and even our region by hosting speakers and artists who can uniquely assist us in celebrating the heritage, core values, and mission of CCS while also lifting our vision for an even greater future built upon the foundation of our past. The caliber of our speakers and guest artists should provide us with wonderful opportunities to share our CCS story with new partners in Christian education. Proceeds from the dinner will be applied to our annual Coventry Kids Fund for CCS scholarships.

This year we are proud to announce that our distinguished guest and speaker is Dr. Benjamin Carson, and our dinner's theme is "Faith of Our Fathers: The Role of Faith in American Schools." Please join us as we welcome Dr. Carson to the Tri-County Area and celebrate the great things God is doing at CCS!

Dr. Carson is a highly regarded neurosurgeon and motivational speaker who has addressed various audiences across the country. He is one of the most honored and recognized physicians in the world and holds more than 60 honorary doctorate degrees along with hundreds of awards and citations. He is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States. He is the author of five books and is the founder of the Carson Scholars Fund. The 2009 award-winning movie entitled Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. as Carson, premiered on TNT and is based on his memoir. Dr. Carson is an authentic disciple of Christ, has been married to his wife Candy for more than 37 years, and is the father of three sons.

The 2013 Founder's Dinner, which will once again be a part of our Homecoming festivities, will be held at the historic Sunnybrook Ballroom in Pottstown on Sunday, October 13th, 2013. Doors will open at 4:30pm, followed by dinner at 5:15. Dress will be business/professional.    Tickets will be priced at $100 until May 15th, then will be $125, so reserve your tickets for the reduced price.

Due to Dr. Carson's international reputation and recent prominence in the media, including his recent speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast, we fully anticipate that this event will sell out quickly once advertised to the public. Tickets go on sale to the public April 15.   If you are interested in attending, tickets can be purchased online.  I will send the link out to those who wish to go on April 15

th

.  While online reservations are preferred because they facilitate efficient event planning, you may also complete a paper order form, which I can forward to you as well.

All of us at Coventry Christian Schools, look forward to sharing this very special evening with you and acquainting you with the school and its mission!

Blessings,

Christine Gordon

Pennsylvanians Against Common Core

Heritage Foundation weighs in on Common Core

By Rachel Sheffield     April 11, 2013:
Policy Analyst, The Heritage Foundation (courtesy of Citizens' Alliance of Pennsylvania)
This coming school year, Pennsylvania public schools will begin implementing the Common Core education standards. Like many other states, Common Core standards are quickly making their way into the classroom. While proponents of the standards continue to champion their predicted benefits, there is significant cause for concern.     First, the standards represent a massive federal overreach. The Obama Administration jumped on board from the get go, promoting national education standards, via policy and federal taxpayer dollars, as part of their education agenda. Billions of federal dollars have gone towards and are continuing to fund, the promotion and implementation of these standards nationwide. The federal government's involvement with the standards should be alarming. Pushing state and local leaders away from classroom curriculum is not only a breach in federalism but gives parents, teachers, and communities less say over what children learn in school.       Education experts have also raised alarm over the quality of the standards. Sandra Stotsky, Professor of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas, has particularly expressed concern over the English Language Arts. Common Core's ELA standards reduce emphasis on literature by promoting the study of "informational texts." Stotsky says

, "A diminished emphasis on literature in the secondary grades makes it unlikely that American students will study a meaningful range of culturally and historically significant literary works before graduation. It also prevents students from acquiring a rich understanding and use of the English language. Perhaps of greatest concern, it may lead to a decreased capacity for analytical thinking."

Common Core is the new set of federal education standards being pushed by the Obama administration and several leftist organizations but it's even seeing some support from some conservatives.

RedState Morning Briefing

RedState Morning Briefing

For May 20, 2013

1.  The tax reform moment

Rupert Murdoch took some heat for observing on Twitter, "Growing IRS scandal makes perfect case for flat tax and abolition all deductions.  Nothing could be fairer and abuse free."

Several responses took Murdoch to task because the abusive treatment of certain groups applying for tax-exempt status, based on their politics, doesn't have any direct relationship with the progressive income tax system, or plans to replace it.

But if I might be a bit more charitable to Murdoch, I think he was trying to make the broader case that a Flat Tax system would greatly reduce the size and power of the IRS.  If his suggestion is taken literally, and all deductions are abolished, it follows that no one would be applying for any sort of tax-exempt status at all.  One of the complaints raised by the groups targeted in the IRS scandal is that it put them at a competitive disadvantage against liberal groups, which sailed right through the Tax Exempt Organizations unit and secured approval in a matter of weeks - even when they were actually violating tax law at the time, as in the case of the Barack H. Obama Foundation, run by the President's half-brother.  This isn't just a scandal about those who were given a hard time; it's also about those who weren't. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

2.  Obama's Travesty of Leadership: The News Media Share Culpability

The Wall Street Journal's Peggy Noonan has correctly characterized the Obama administration's Benghazi and IRS scandals for what they are: gross failures of leadership that ultimately include a bold-even boastful-policy of criminal activity (my words, not hers).

But the Washington Post's Richard Cohen jeered at conservatives' concerns about Benghazi, and the Columbia Journalism Review's Ryan Chittum said Noonan has "lost it".

She has no evidence, said Chittum.

No, Mr. Chittum. Dan Rather had no evidence. But don't take my word for it. Ask Dan Rather and, like Dan Rather, get another career because you're part of the problem.

News media companies can point their fingers at the Obama administration all they want. It's suddenly all the rage, even among characteristically leftist writers and broadcasters. But to really root out the problem, the news media must point their fingers at themselves. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

3.  Immigration, Wages, and Free Markets

All conservatives and libertarians agree that government should not set wage requirements on private enterprise.  That would violate the foundation of a free market economy.  But should industries and special interest groups get to use the power of government to tilt our immigration system in a way that will actively depress wages?  Is that free market doctrine?

I've been looking to find someone to come out to my house and do an assortment of outdoor work on gutters, downspouts, and siding.  I can do most of the work myself, but some of the repairs need to be done in precarious positions that would require me to place a ladder on steep ground.  The problem is that nobody will come out for a half days' work for less than a few hundred dollars.  In light of this "labor shortage" I plan to petition the government to flood the country with poor people from rough areas in the world.  They will do any job for 10 bucks.  Why shouldn't we solve the "labor shortage" in this manner? . . . please click here for the rest of the post

4.  IRS targeted the Leadership Institute

I worked at the Leadership Institute in Arlington for a little more than four years; it was my first job out of college and one of the most important times of my career. I learned a tremendous amount about the conservative movement, the nature of coalitions, and how political technology was philosophically neutral. I also learned about character and left with a hero: Morton Blackwell. Today, I'm proud to be a Leadership Institute donor, and readily recommend LI to every young conservative I meet.

All that is to say, the news that the IRS targeted LI is absolutely outrageous. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

5.  White House: All Americans Can Opt-Out Of ObamaCare

Believe it or not, RedStaters, the White House has just announced that every American with private health insurance can opt-out of ObamaCare!

Yes. In a response to my petition on the White House website, the administration states very clearly:

"If you currently have private health insurance, you should be able to keep it, and that's exactly what the health care law says. It's not a question of opting out of health reform - the idea that individuals who like their insurance should keep it is a central part of the law."

The White House repeats their assurance that no American with private insurance will be forced to join an ObamaCare exchange.  . . . please click here for the rest of the post

6.  Finally, A Bi-Partisan Solution on Term Limits

Many in our country and in the districts we represent feel that Congress is out of touch and that members are more focused on re-election than on providing real solutions to our nation's biggest challenges. We hear from constituents all the time that there is a lack of urgency and focus when it comes to solving our country's toughest issues like tackling the deficit and putting policies in place that will lead to economic growth. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Joys of Muslim Women

Joys of Muslim Women

by Nonie Darwish

In the Muslim faith a Muslim man can marry a child as young as 1 year old and have sexual intimacy with this child.

Consummating the marriage by 9.

The dowry is given to the family in exchange for the woman (who becomes his slave) and for the purchase of the private parts of the woman, to use her as a toy.

Even though a woman is abused she can not obtain a divorce.

To prove rape, the woman must have (4) male witnesses.

Often after a woman has been raped, she is returned to her family and the family must return the dowry. The family has the right to execute her (an honor killing) to restore the honor of the family. Husbands can beat their wives 'at will' and he does not have to say why he has beaten her.

Mass Seizure of Reporters' Phone Records . . . Over a Grudge about Story-Release Timing?

The Washington Post reports that the administration's explanation for the AP phone-record snooping may not be accurate:

For five days, reporters at the Associated Press had been sitting on a big scoop about a foiled al-Qaeda plot at the request of CIA officials. Then, in a hastily scheduled Monday morning meeting, the journalists were asked by agency officials to hold off on publishing the story for just one more day.

The CIA officials, who had initially cited national security concerns in an attempt to delay publication, no longer had those worries, according to individuals familiar with the exchange. Instead, the Obama administration was planning to announce the successful counterterrorism operation that Tuesday.

AP balked and proceeded to publish that Monday afternoon. Its May 2012 report is now at the center of a controversial and broad seizure of phone records of AP reporters' home, office and cellphone lines. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said the unauthorized disclosure about an intelligence operation to stop al-Qaeda from detonating explosives aboard a U.S. airliner was among the most serious leaks he could remember, and justified secretly obtaining records from a handful of reporters and editors over a span of two months.

Now, some members of Congress and media advocates are questioning why the administration viewed the leak that led to the May 7 AP story as so grave.

The president's top counterterrorism adviser at the time, John O. Brennan, had appeared on "Good Morning America" the following day to trumpet the successful operation. He said that because of the work of U.S. intelligence, the plot did not pose an active threat to the American public.

Holder said this week that the unauthorized disclosure "put the American people at risk."

Bryan Preston: "Get that? The administration wanted to own the story, and wanted AP to hold off publishing until Obama et al could announce it themselves."

Doug Mataconis: "Even if this leak didn't compromise national security, the fact that there's someone in the government leaking information like this raises the possibility that they'd leak something damages in the future. At the same time, however, it seems fairly clear that the claim that this leak was among the most damaging in American history simply doesn't add up. If that's the case, then why would the CIA have told the AP that the national security concerns it had previously expressed were 'no longer an issue?'"

RB at the Right Sphere:

That sound you heard was the "national security" justification going POOF! The AP dutifully held back on reporting the story in order to protect national security and the Obama administration screwed them anyway. The AP reported the story only after it was made clear that the information wasn't sensitive anymore. The information was going to be used for PR purposes by the Obama administration and the AP essentially stole their thunder.

Stealing the Obama administration's thunder is now grounds for secret subpoenas on the press.

What's the Big Picture to Keep in Mind During This Scandal-Mania?

Quite the week, huh? A lot of wise voices are urging us to keep our eye on the ball in these day-to-day developments.

Listen to the National Review editors:

Democratic scandal does not take the place of a Republican agenda. It does not reform the tax code or reduce the debt or ease regulatory burdens on small business. It cannot substitute for a strategy to replace Obamacare. By all means, Republicans should run against the president and his party - against their refusal to take the entitlement crisis seriously, against the implementation of their "train wreck" health-care law, and even against the unusually politicized executive-branch culture that contributed to the post-Benghazi cover-up. They should at the same time understand that a purely negative message, however justified, will not produce the governing majority Republicans should be aiming for in the next two elections.

Even worse than relying on scandal would be advertising the fact. Republicans should not indulge in public speculation about the electoral repercussions of these scandals for 2014 (much less 2016!). Doing so plays into the Democrats' hands by making legitimate inquiries seem like opportunistic partisan exercises, and is thus likely to be a self-canceling prophecy.

Listen to Kevin Williamson:

I myself doubt very much that the president or any of his immediate circle had a hand in [the IRS scandal] - it is in the nature of the Left (and in the nature of political power itself) that no marching orders from the top are necessary. University presidents do not tell hiring committees to discriminate against conservative academics, they just do it. No president or Treasury secretary had to tell the IRS to do this.

In some ways, the received version of events is worse than would be a top-directed cabal of rogue IRS agents acting on orders from political superiors. A corrupt element within an agency can be rooted out, and a criminal conspiracy can be unraveled. When the agency is the criminal conspiracy, then the challenge of reform becomes that much greater.

And listen to Ben Domenech, also known as That Guy Who Writes That Other Newsletter That I Hear Is Pretty Good If You're Okay With Subscription Fees:

The point is that these scandals cut at the core conceit of Obama's ideology: the healthy and enduring confidence of big government to be good government. As technological capabilities advance and the scope of government expands, the types of domestic scandals we're seeing here are only going to increase in frequency and invasiveness, with personal information shared more frequently, easier for even low level bureaucrats to acquire and manipulate. At the same time, Americans are becoming increasingly skeptical and cynical about their public institutions, with their trust in the federal government at historic lows. They distrust the agencies and bureaucrats even as the politicians of our age are investing more and more power in them.

Today, the media, the Obama administration, and David Axelrod are undertaking the task that conservatives could not: illustrating with each passing day that the progressive approach to modern governance and policy is inherently flawed and that vast governments are ripe for abuse. What we are seeing from the IRS and the DOJ is not something new, nor does it represent a perverse approach to benign bureaucracy: it is the inevitable consequence of an approach which puts mechanisms in place and then assumes they will not be used for ill. You should expect government to go as far as it can, whenever it can, in any ways that it can, toward the full exploitation of the power made available to it. Expecting government to behave otherwise is to expect the scorpion not to sting the frog . . .

When this period of scandal draws to a close, if the idea still survives that a more competent and ethical president would be able to effectively govern a $4 trillion bureaucracy, it will be a sign Republicans have failed. They can succeed by ignoring the tempting bait of making this about the president they despise, and focusing instead on the false philosophy of expansive government which represents the true danger to the American experiment. Doing so will require them to go against their own short-term viewpoint, so prevalent in recent years, and look instead to the long game.

A Spoiler-Filled Assessment of the Latest Iron Man Sequel

It's late enough for a spoiler-filled look at Iron Man 3, right?

Iron Man 3 is a wildly uneven movie. When it works, it really works; when it doesn't work, it falls flat on its iron faceplate.

The first part that I liked, and thought was a strong screenwriting decision, was the choice to have Tony Stark suffering from panic and anxiety attacks because of his near-death experience in The Avengers.

A couple of recent movies and television shows have irked me recently when their characters go through major, dramatic, often life-threatening or certainly outlook-altering events . . . and then return to being just fine afterwards. I can hear it now: "Come on, Jim, that's just the magic of the movies," but plot holes and slipshod characterization aren't actually what's supposed to be "magic" about the movies. If a character goes through an experience that should be consequential and significant, then we need some signs that it actually was consequential and significant. If the actions of the characters have no real consequence, why should the audience get involved in the show?

I can believe, for the sake of the story, that aliens exist, that superheroes exist, robots, magic, whatever you want - so long as the fictional universe I'm seeing has a certain internal consistency to the whole thing.

A recent example of the writers botching came a few months ago on Castle, when the protagonist's daughter was kidnapped, taken overseas, her life threatened . . . and the next episode everything was fine, no mention made of it. In fact, I don't think any character made any reference to it until this week's season finale. What I watch in a fictional television series may not have to be realistic, but it does have to be believable.

I had high hopes for Ben Kingsley's portrayal of the Mandarin, and as a result, the "twist" revealed halfway through the movie struck me as a nearly insurmountable hurdle.

First, the makers of Iron Man 3 decided that the Mandarin's propaganda videos would make the villain really, really resemble and echo Osama bin Laden. I don't think that's necessarily offensive or exploitative; I think that's hitting the notes that stir fear in our subconscious in a very effective way. (Ben Kingsley talks a bit about it here.) He hates the United States of America for reasons that seem unclear, he's determined to teach us a lesson, and he launches random, explosive terror attacks at various targets.

But making the Mandarin a "fake" figure created by a greedy Pentagon contractor who seeks to "control supply and demand of the War on Terror" . . . well, it's one step away from joining the 9/11 Truthers. Director Shane Black more or less made this point explicitly:

I would say that we struggled to find a way to present a mythic terrorist that had something about him that registered after the movie's over as having been a unique take, or a clever idea, or a way to say something of use. And what was of use about the Mandarin's portrayal in this movie, to me, is that it offers up a way that you can sort of show how people are complicit in being frightened. They buy into things in the way that the audience for this movie buys into it. And hopefully, by the end you're like, "Yeah, we were really frightened of the Mandarin, but in the end he really wasn't that bad after all." In fact, the whole thing was just a product of this anonymous, behind-the-scenes guy. I think that's a message that's more interesting for the modern world because I think there's a lot of behind-the-scenes, a lot of fear, that's generated toward very available and obvious targets, which could perhaps be directed more intelligently at what's behind them.

Except that the terrorists we see in the real world are not in fact driven by "anonymous behind-the-scenes guys" like shady defense contractors. The Boston bombers were not secretly being manipulated by Halliburton. The guys who killed our ambassador in Benghazi were not being paid by somebody who wanted a fat contract to provide embassy security in the future. This is conspiracy-theory thinking, and not only does it not fit in well in an Iron Man movie . . . it takes what had been this movie series' most thoroughly menacing, frightening figure and turns him into a quick, cheap joke, and refocuses us on Guy Pearce's Killian villain. Meh.

Killian's grand plot to "control supply and demand in the War on Terror," by the way, makes little or no sense. Is the notion that as he does it, he'll get rich? He's already rich. He wants to humiliate Tony Stark, to get revenge for ditching him back in 1999? Meh. He has many opportunities to kill him, and fails to do so.

Oh, and while the president played by William Sadler seems like a good guy who wants to protect the company, we get the tired trope of the evil, or at least supremely morally compromised vice president.

With all this complaining, what worked? Well, the movie's theme, emphasized explicitly by its closing line, is that our hero is really Tony Stark, not Iron Man. The creators decided that Tony would spend a large chunk of this movie torn down to his core, without all of his wealth and high-tech toys, forced to improvise creative new solutions in life-and-death circumstances.

If indeed this is the last Iron Man movie, we're left with a relentlessly enjoyable character . . . who never quite had a plot or villain that matched what he brought to the screen.

Russia Sends More Advanced Missiles to Aid Assad in Syria

WASHINGTON - Russia has sent advanced antiship cruise missiles to Syria, a move that illustrates the depth of its support for the Syrian government led by President Bashar al-Assad, American officials said Thursday.

Russia has previously provided a version of the missiles, called Yakhonts, to Syria. But those delivered recently are outfitted with an advanced radar that makes them more effective, according to American officials who are familiar with classified intelligence reports and would only discuss the shipment on the basis of anonymity.

Unlike Scud and other longer-range surface-to-surface missiles that the Assad government has used against opposition forces, the Yakhont antiship missile system provides the Syrian military a formidable weapon to counter any effort by international forces to reinforce Syrian opposition fighters by imposing a naval embargo, establishing a no-fly zone or carrying out limited airstrikes.

"It enables the regime to deter foreign forces looking to supply the opposition from the sea, or from undertaking a more active role if a no-fly zone or shipping embargo were to be declared at some point," said Nick Brown, editor in chief of IHS Jane's International Defense Review. "It's a real ship killer."

Jeffrey White, a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and a former senior American intelligence official, said Syria's strengthened arsenal would "tend to push Western or allied naval activity further off the coast" and was also "a signal of the Russian commitment to the Syrian government."

Russia Raises Stakes in Syria, Sends 12 Warships - Adam Entous, Julian E. Barnes and Gregory L. White
  • Russia has sent a dozen or more warships to patrol waters near its naval base at Tartus in Syria, a buildup that U.S. and European officials see as a newly aggressive stance meant partly to warn the West not to intervene in Syria's civil war. Russia's expanded presence in the eastern Mediterranean represents one of its largest sustained naval deployments since the Cold War. "It is a show of force. It's muscle flexing," a senior U.S. defense official said. "It is about demonstrating their commitment to their interests."
  •
In the last three months, 10 to 15 Russian ships have been near Tartus at any one time, U.S. and European officials say. Russia currently has 11 ships in the eastern Mediterranean, including destroyers, frigates, support vessels and intelligence-collecting ships. The U.S. Navy has two destroyers in the eastern Mediterranean. U.S. officials believe that by assuring Russia that the base will remain under Moscow's control in a post-Assad Syria, the U.S. has a better chance of convincing Putin to break with Assad.
  •
In addition, U.S. officials believe that Russia is moving more quickly to deliver S-300 surface-to-air defense systems to Syria. U.S. officials say the S-300 system, which could make it more risky for any warplanes to enter Syrian airspace, could leave Russia for Tartus by the end of May. (

Benghazi Unravelled: Has This Mysterious Commentor Put The Puzzle Together?

Wednesday, May 15, 2013 21:11

(Before It's News)

As a regular user of Before It's News I see all kinds of comments. They come in all types; smart, stupid, questioning and sometimes just outright spam. Yet this this one caught my eye. This guy makes waaaaaay to much sense. The pieces all seem to fit just right in the synopsis. Does this guy have some inside info? What do you think-make sense to you?

Jacksdad

The Obama admin was running Libyan weapons to Syria, thru Turkey, via Libyan-flagged vessel Al Entisar. Stevens met with the Turkish Consul General Ali Sait Akin, and escorted him out of the "consulate" front gate one hour before the assault began. The attack happened because Libyan jihadists who fought for the Obama admin found out their newly acquired arsenal was gonna be stolen out from under them so they attacked the "consulate".

Why the media is ignoring these facts isn't a surprise, it was Fast & Syrious. Why conservative politicians haven't exposed this crime goes beyond all rational logic. Everyone saying anything hasn't even got the story right.

Not to mention the fact the CIA agents with Stevens were in direct communication with the Obama situation room, CIA hq, FBI hq and Hillary's state dept.

A diplomat reports to the Sec of State and the president, Stevens was the highest ranking American in Libya and he doesn't talk to mid level bureaucrats. Standard protocol is he speaks to the Obama admin first and foremost on everything, he was a political appointee.

Obama failed to protect Americans from foreign enemies because he was 2 months outside of an election and his admin was running guns to al Qaeda linked jihadists in Syria.

If this isn't treason then treason isn't a word any longer.

Did Huma Abedin 'quietly' step down as Deputy Chief of Staff in same month Bachmann letter sent to IG?

The title of a New York Times article by Raymond Hernandez reads, "Weiner's Wife Didn't Disclose Consulting Work She Did While Serving in State Dept.". However, the headline for another story pops up in the eighth paragraph when a potentially very interesting claim is made. Take note of when Abedin allegedly stepped down as Deputy Chief of Staff for Hillary.

Via NYT:

Ms. Abedin reached her new working arrangement in June 2012, when she returned from maternity leave, quietly leaving her position as deputy chief of staff and becoming a special government employee, which is essentially a consultant. A State Department official said that change freed her from the requirement that she disclose her private earnings for the rest of the year on her financial disclosure forms. Still, during that period, she continued to be identified publicly in news reports as Mrs. Clinton's deputy chief of staff.

Officials in the State Department and Clinton circles seem especially sensitive about the arrangement, and no one would speak about it on the record. Earlier this month, Mr. Weiner released a copy of the couple's 2012 tax return showing that they had income of more than $490,000.

Obama Administration Behind Another Leak, Hanging Israel Out To Dry, Putting Them In Greater Danger

Remember the airstrikes that hit Damascus earlier this month? Israel never officially confirmed they conducted the strikes.

But the Obama administration did, leaking classified information, laying it right in the court of the Israelis to the media.

Via Yahoo News:

The Justice Department's seizure of Associated Press reporters' phone records was reportedly one element of a "sweeping" federal investigation to find out who leaked classified information about a failed Al-Qaeda plot to bomb an American airliner.

Now, the Obama administration has reportedly apologized to Israel for another leak of classified information to the media, one that occurred earlier this month and which Israeli officials are concerned could place Israeli lives at risk.

Israel Radio's diplomatic correspondent Chico Menashe reported Sunday morning (via the Jerusalem Post):

American officials apologized to their Israeli counterparts for confirming that Israel was behind the airstrikes on the Damascus airport earlier this month, Israel Radio reported on Sunday.

The confirmation reportedly came from the lower ranks at the Pentagon, and the reasons for the leak are being investigated.

Menashe tweeted: "The U.S. has apologized to Israel for leaking details of the attack in Syria. Senior administration officials said to their [Israeli] counterparts that they are examining the issue and that low-level [officials] were responsible for the leak."

Friday Afternoon Roundup - Take a Penny, Take a Country

From Maksim at the People's Cube

PINING FOR THE OASES

Two years ago, Obama had declared that he was the defender of Benghazi, protecting it against a massacre that was never going to happen. And once Benghazi was liberated to be under Al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood rule, the man who had sent in the air force to protect Benghazi Islamist militias against Gaddafi, couldn't be bothered to send in the planes to protect his diplomats against the militias.

There is not one single place where a major Arab Spring transformation has led to a happy ending.

Egypt is a political, social and economic disaster. Obama had been counting on Islamists transforming Egypt into another Turkey on a slow and sensible schedule. But Morsi had a little too much in common with Obama. Like Obama, he couldn't wait a decade to crush his opponents and enact repressive policies that would fracture the country. He could barely wait a month.

How Syria Killed the "Arab Spring"

WAR ON ERROR

In February of 2012, Amine El Khalifi was arrested for plotting to carry out a suicide bombing in the US Capitol building. Before he began his mission, he visited the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center, whose former Imam was Al Qaeda leader Anwar Al Awlaki and whose parishioners included Fort Hood terrorist Nidal Hasan. At his sentencing, El Khalifi said, "I just want to say that I love Allah."

But that did not stop the FBI from announcing a few days later that it had completed purging references to Islamic terrorism from its training materials. A month earlier, Tamerlan Tsarnaev had begun his trip to Russia and by the time he returned, the training materials meant to prepare agents for the reality of the terrorist plot that he and his brother would carry out had been buried out of sight.
In 2011, the year that the Russians were warning America about Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole was issuing another kind of warning.

Cole, an Obama recess appointment, said, "All of us must reject any suggestion that every Muslim is a terrorist or that every terrorist is a Muslim.  As we have seen time and again - from the Oklahoma City bombing to the recent attacks in Oslo, Norway - no religion or ethnicity has a monopoly on terror."

A Stunning Development

For the past week the Obama Administration has been embroiled in a growing IRS scandal. The tax agency was involved in a massive effort to target the tax-exempt status of conservative organizations, including well-known Christian ministries like Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Tea Party, pro-life and other conservative groups were denied IRS tax-exempt recognition, resulting in some groups literally shutting down. The apparent purpose was to intimidate and harass the administration's perceived political enemies. It worked.

Americans rightly resist Big Government -- and especially the IRS -- precisely because of this kind of abuse. It is also why so many Americans do not want the IRS involved in our healthcare. We've already seen partisan abuse, but just imagine having to deal with the IRS when it comes to the bypass surgery you need!

Well, guess what? News broke last night that Sarah Hall Ingram, the commissioner who led the department at the center of the IRS scandal while the abuses were taking place, is now the director of the IRS' Affordable Care Act Office. And get this -- she received more than $100,000 in bonuses when these abuses took place!

When told about Ingram's new job, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said, "Stunning, just stunning."

Meanwhile, Joseph Grant, Commissioner of Tax Exempt Organizations and Government Entities, announced he is retiring next month. Grant was the deputy commissioner under Sarah Hall Ingram when the politically-motivated abuses occurred. But more heads may roll soon as Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters announced that he is looking to see if any Ohio state laws were violated by "rogue" IRS agents in the Cincinnati office.

Was There A Cover-up?

Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller and IRS Inspector General J. Russell George testified under oath this morning before the House Ways and Means Committee. Based on his opening statement alone, members of the committee should consider charging Miller with perjury. Just consider this comment:

"Partisanship or the perception of politics has no place in the IRS. I do not believe that partisanship motivated the people that engaged in the practices described in the inspector general's report. Foolish mistakes were made by people who were trying to be more efficient in their work."

Only conservatives were targeted and tied in knots while progressive groups were rubber-stamped. Groups were targeted based on names like "Tea Party" or "Patriot." Pro-life groups were ordered not to protest Planned Parenthood. But none of that is political, just a mistaken attempt at better efficiency. Give me a break!

When pressed to identify the individuals involved in the abuses, Miller could not offer any names. He had to know that question would come up today. But Miller either walked into that hearing room willfully ignorant or he again misled members of Congress.

More importantly, several Republicans ripped into Miller for the fact that top IRS officials knew about these abuses back in 2011, knew about the inspector general's report and never informed Congress until this year.

Again, as happened with the infamous Benghazi talking points, was there a cover-up by officials within the Obama Administration to keep a lid on these abuses during last year's election? The answer seems obvious, and some in the media are now asking that very question.

Watergate's Woodward: Don't Dismiss Benghazi

While the IRS scandal has taken center stage, famed Watergate reporter Bob Woodward said this morning that the Benghazi scandal is still a very potent issue that has not been put to rest. His remarks are worth repeating:

"You were talking earlier about kind of dismissing the Benghazi issue as one that's just political and the president recently said it's a sideshow. But if you read through all these emails, you see that everyone in the government is saying, 'Oh, let's not tell the public that terrorists were involved, people connected to al Qaeda. Let's not tell the public that there were warnings.'

"...this is one of the documents with the editing that one of the people in the State Department said, 'Oh, let's not let these things out.' And I have to go back 40 years to Watergate when Nixon put out his edited transcripts to the conversations, and he personally went through them and said, 'Oh, let's not tell this, let's not show this.'

"I would not dismiss Benghazi. It's a very serious issue ... four people were killed. You look at the hydraulic pressure that was in the system to not tell the truth... we use this term and the government uses this term, talking points. Talking points, as we know, are like legal briefs. They're an argument on one side. What we need to do is get rid of talking point and they need to put out statements or papers that are truth documents."

Breaking News: Obama Cracks Down On Immigration

After issuing orders last year halting deportations for some illegal immigrants, Barack Obama is getting tough now. His administration, while pushing amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, is pulling out all the stops to deport a German homeschooling family who legally sought asylum claiming religious persecution.

Homeschooling is illegal Germany. The Romeike family came to the United States to be free to teach their children according to their Christian beliefs. But the Obama Administration evidently believes there is no room in America for one more homeschooling Christian family.

Obama's government is trying to deport this family. This week the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals denied their asylum request. If the Romeike family returns to Germany, their children will be taken away from them.

We are making suckers out of anyone who follows our immigration laws. The Romeike family was really naïve to play by the rules and seek asylum. They should have gone to Mexico, snuck across the border and waited for the amnesty bill to pass.

Or they could have declared themselves closet homosexuals, since the Obama Administration is doing everything it can to advance the gay rights agenda. Failing that, they could have changed their asylum status and claimed to be Muslims since we are letting more and more Muslims into the country every day, not to mention losing suspected terrorists in the witness protection program!

Obama Calls In The Marines

Did you see President Obama's Rose Garden press conference yesterday? Obama called in the Marines to provide him some cover -- not from a hostile press demanding answers about the IRS, Benghazi or the AP wiretapping scandal, but from a few rain drops. In doing so, he forced the Marines to violate protocol.

Amazing! Obama had no trouble calling the Marines for help when he needed to keep a few drops off of him, but he just couldn't find them on the night our ambassador and three other brave Americans were attacked and killed in Benghazi.

"My question is who is going to jail?" House Speaker John Boehner on the IRS Scandal

The President couldn't even bring himself to breathe a word of the truth.

He could fire some hapless Acting Commissioner, but last night Mr. Obama never came close to discussing that which must never be discussed.

The IRS?

It's about a union: the National Treasury Employees Union. The NTEU. A left-wing union representing 150,000 employees in 31 separate government agencies, including the IRS. A union that not only endorsed President Obama for election and re-election, but a union whose current president, Colleen Kelly, was a 14-year IRS agent and now is both union president and Obama administration appointee (of which more in a moment).

It's about 94% of NTEU union contributions going to Democrats in the Senate and House in 2012 - candidates who campaigned as vociferous opponents of the Tea Party.

Live Updates - Ryan: 'How Can We Not Conclude That You Misled This Committee?'

by Joel B. Pollak

Former Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Acting Commissioner Steven Miller, who only took over in November and resigned this week at President Barack Obama's behest, will testify before the House Ways and Means Committee Friday on his role in targeting Tea Party and conservative groups for audit or excessive review.

Miller was the first senior IRS official to be disciplined in the scandal, though the problems began before he took over the IRS, and other senior officials were aware of the problem and appear to have misled Congress.

New Evidence IRS Laundering Money From Veterans Disability Checks

AUTHOR Kristin Tate

MAY 18, 2013 6:06PM PST

You know what the IRS is really great at? Breaking its own laws.

In addition to targeting conservative groups, the corrupt government agency has also been singling out disabled veterans. They do this by using banks to launder and then stealing the veterans' disability checks.

Shameful.

Do These Letters Prove The IRS Execs Knew About The Targeting?
Was Lois Lerner, the director of the IRSs Exempt Organizations Division lying when she denied knowing about the IRS policy of targeting 9/12 groups, local Tea Parties and other small government supporters? Lerner initially blamed it on the work of two low-level Cincinnati employees of the massive taxing agency. Amicus brief filed in Obama eligibility suit

May 19, 2013 06:13 am | Coach Collins

by George Spelvin

A friend of the court brief by Lucas Daniel Smith appears on line as having just been filed with the Alabama Supreme Court in an appeals case seeking to reinstate the challenge of President Obama's eligibility to serve as US President. The online link shows the fully notarized Amicus Curiae (1) which Smith sent to Chief Justice Roy Moore and ten other authorities and includes a copy of the Mombasa certificate of live birth of Barack Hussein Obama II. Other exhibits include passport photos of Obama, Sr. and a postal mailing of the Senate Publication dealing with the Natural Born Citizen clause of the US Constitution.

Smith, who has experienced his own battles in pursuing the Obama eligibility challenge, begins his argument with a background of legal citations about the doctrine of "capable of repetition yet evading review" which speaks to the responsibility of a state's electoral board in certification of ... Obama using the IRS for blackmail as well as intimidation?

May 18, 2013 02:00 pm | Coach Collins

by Doug Book, editor

Coach is Right published this article well before the current IRS scandals had broken. We thought readers might be interested in taking another look at this slight infraction committed by our "voluntary" taxing authorities.

In September of 2011, 60 million health records involving 10 million Americans were illegally confiscated by members of the IRS. The theft took place at an unidentified place of business in California.

Referring to itself as the John Doe Company in a lawsuit filed last week against the 15 IRS agents who took part, plaintiffs claim that "no search warrant authorized the seizure of these records; no subpoena authorized the seizure of these records; none of the 10,000,000 Americans were under any kind of known criminal or civil investigation and their medical records had no relevance whatsoever to the IRS search." One of the IRS agents who took ... Continue Reading:Obama using the IRS for blackmail as well as intimidation?

Barack just never around when bad things happen

May 18, 2013 06:13 am | Coach Collins

by Jim Emerson, staff writer

AWOL Commander in Chief

During the Benghazi murders, instead of taking charge Mr. Obama went into hiding, the various military elements having to stand down because the occupant of the White House was afraid to make decisions. During a Senate hearing, then Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta testified that neither Obama nor anyone else from the White House had contacted the Defense Department or the Pentagon during the attack to find out what was going on. (1) This is not the behavior of a leader but of a coward. As always, Obama pleads ignorance to distance himself from anything that may make him look bad. He has already claimed to know nothing of the IRS targeting of conservative groups or the tapping of AP phone lines. Having the FBI investigate these events will enable the president to duck any questions because there is an "ongoing investigation."

Marco Zuckerberg and Mark Rubio: amnesty's two indistinguishable amigos

May 17, 2013 06:09 am | Coach Collins

By Kevin "Coach" Collins

Mark Zuckerberg and Marco Rubio have become amnesty's two indistinguishable amigos. They have morphed into Marco Zuckerberg and Mark Rubio.

You've heard the radio spots and seen the television ads featuring Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio talking about the dire need to do something about the "immigration problem" not "illegal immigration" but immigration.

During a minute's worth of huffing and puffing Rubio tries to bulldoze past any logical objections to erasing our borders with faux tough talk designed to impress us with his credentials as an "insider' who KNOWS more than we do.

Rubio's media crusade is funded by liberal Facebook billionaire Mark Zuckerberg.

To impress us Rubio uses buzz phrases like "conservative immigration reform" "Tough border triggers" and "no giveaways for law breakers." That putting these words in Rubio's mouth is not only breathtakingly insulting to true conservatives, but simply not true shouldn't ... What Did the President Know About the IRS Scandal and When Did He Know It?  By Rick Moran

The president has left the definite impression that he took action and became outraged almost immediately after the news reports broke last Friday. National Right To Work

Union bosses count on Barack Obama's bureaucracy to serve as an organizing arm for Big Labor.

That's why they know pro-forced unionism Thomas Perez is just the man for the job to be Barack Obama's next Secretary of Labor.

A recent article in the Washington Free Beacon exposes yet another power grab Obama's Department of Labor bureaucrats have implemented to grease the skids for forced unionization of American workers.

You see, when the DOL's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) conducts workplace inspections, workers may select one of their own to observe.

Now, for the first time ever, Obama's OSHA has advised union bosses that they too can observe these inspections, even in nonunion workplaces.

Union operatives would get automatic access to company property and an opportunity to browbeat workers with union-boss propaganda.

Once the Obama Administration has let Big Labor in the door, union bosses could make frivolous accusations of safety violations to try to get the company to sell out its workers with a "card check" agreement.

Over the last four years, the Obama Administration has implemented one behind-the-scenes sweetheart deal after another to make it easier for union bosses to ensnare workers into forced-dues-paying ranks.

That's why if you haven't already, please watch and share the National Right to Work Committee's urgent video alert exposing Perez's long history of using his positions of power to do Big Labor's bidding.

Based on Thomas Perez's record, you can expect more of the same if he's confirmed.

Investigate the Investigators of Bucks County Sheriff's Dept ?

Tom Lingenfelter, former Top Secret Special Agent for USA Counter-intelligence and the only GOP Primary Election opponent of the Bucks County Sheriff, Edward "Duke" Donnelly believes it is time for an 'investigation of the investigators.'

The on-going investigation of the Sheriffs office follows the conviction of several long-time Bucks County office holders. The investigation of the Sheriff's Dept. was transferred by the Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler to the State Attorney General.  Heckler stated that he withdrew himself because he had campaigned with Sheriff Donnelly in the past.   This despite the fact he prosecuted the convicted long-term office holders with whom he shared the party ticket several times in the past 30 years.

Reported: Courier Times May 22, 2011: "The State Attorney General's Office will handle the investigation into alleged misconduct in the Bucks County Sheriff's Department, District Attorney Dave Heckler confirmed Friday.

Heckler declined to discuss details of the allegations, but said he asked the AG to step-in to avoid a possible conflict of interest. The hand-off comes after a county grand jury was convened to begin the probe....

Heckler has been called to investigate other county officials in recent months and has not stepped aside...."

Obama Administration Knew of IRS Probe During 2012 Campaign

Saturday, 18 May 2013

WASHINGTON  - Senior Treasury officials were made aware in June 2012 that investigators were looking into complaints from tea party groups that they were being harassed by the Internal Revenue Service, a Treasury inspector general said, disclosing that Obama administration officials knew there was a probe during the heat of the presidential campaign.

J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration, testifying alongside ousted IRS head Steven Miller on Friday, said he had told the department's general counsel about his investigation on June 4, 2012, and Deputy Treasury Secretary Neal Wolin "shortly thereafter."

But, George cautioned, those discussions were "not to inform them of the results of the audit. It was to inform them of the fact that we were conducting the audit."

Obama denies role in government

Posted: 19 May 2013 02:49 PM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

Andy Borowitz of the The New Yorker provides this somewhat fictitious account of our president's reaction to the current series of scandals:

President Obama used his weekly radio address on Saturday to reassure the American people that he has "played no role whatsoever" in the U.S. government over the past four years.

"Right now, many of you are angry at the government, and no one is angrier than I am," he said. "Quite frankly, I am glad that I have had no involvement in such an organization."

The President's outrage only increased, he said, when he "recently became aware of a part of that government called the Department of Justice."

"The more I learn about the activities of these individuals, the more certain I am that I would not want to be associated with them," he said. "They sound like bad news."

Mr. Obama closed his address by indicating that beginning next week he would enforce what he called a "zero tolerance policy on governing."

"If I find that any members of my Administration have had any intimate knowledge of, or involvement in, the workings of the United States government, they will be dealt with accordingly," he said.

A durable libel

Posted: 19 May 2013 09:09 AM PDT

(Scott Johnson)

Charles Enderlin is the France 2 Jerusalem correspondent who broadcast the incendiary account of the death of 12-year-old Muhammad al-Dura at the hands of Israeli troops operating in the Gaza Strip in September 2000. Based on film footage provided by a Palestinian cameraman, Enderlin's report has become infamous among students of Arab propaganda both for its destructive effects and for its probable falsity. The al-Dura affair bids to join the Dreyfus affair in the French hall of shame.

Dreyfus was innocent, of course, and now an Israeli government report has concluded that al-Dura survived the incident depicted in Enderlin's report. Historian Richard Landes has done a great job of compiling the evidence of Israel's innocence in the al-Dura case over the years at The Second Draft. Now Mitch Ginsburg updates the saga in this Times of Israel report:

Muhammad al-Dura, the Palestinian child who appeared to have been shockingly killed at his father's feet in Gaza on September 30, 2000 - an iconic image that helped fuel the Second Intifada - was not harmed by Israeli forces and did not die in the exchange of fire, according to an Israeli government report released Sunday, three days before a French court rules on a related matter.

"Contrary to the report's claim that the boy was killed, the committee's review of the raw footage showed that in the final scenes, which were not broadcast by France 2, the boy is seen to be alive," the Ministry of International Affairs and Strategy report stated regarding the television report.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who tasked the ministry with assembling the report in 2012, said the accusations aired on France 2 were "a manifestation of the ongoing, mendacious campaign to delegitimize Israel."

Minister of International Affairs and Strategy Yuval Steinitz called the accusations baseless and said the affair was "a modern-day blood libel against the State of Israel."

The 55 seconds of edited footage, filmed two days after Ariel Sharon's visit to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, contributed to the October 2000 protest in which 13 Arab citizens of Israel were killed and quickly became the defining image of that Palestinian uprising against Israel.

The picture of Dura, apparently dead across his father's knees, was shown for days on Arab and international TV stations and was cited as inspiration by both Osama bin Laden and the killers of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.

Israel initially did not dispute that IDF troops had inadvertently killed the child. "It could very much be - this is an estimation - that a soldier in our position, who has a very narrow field of vision, saw somebody hiding behind a cement block in the direction from which he was being fired at, and he shot in that direction," Maj. Gen. Yom-Tov Samia said at the time.

Only months later did the army complete an investigation that it said showed with certainty that, if Dura was killed, it could not have been from shots fired from the IDF position.

Is al-Dura alive? It would be nice to know what happened to him.

The variations on the blood libel are endless. Most recently, we have had the BBC, the Washington Post and others falsely asserting that Israeli forces killed the son of the aptly named BBC cameraman Jihad Masharawi on the first day of Operation Cast Lead. I wrote about that in the five-part series "Tools of Jihad." By contrast with Muhammad al-Dura, the young Masharawi was killed (if by friendly fire). In any event, Jihad lives.

What would you expect Romney to say?

Posted: 19 May 2013 08:01 AM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

Mitt Romney says that the Benghazi talking points had no bearing on the outcome of the 2012 presidential election. He made this remark in response to a question by an inquisitive Jay Leno.

Romney added that he doesn't spend a lot of time reflecting on what could have been done differently during his campaign. "I don't go back and look at: 'Gee, if this would have happened differently, could I have won?'" Romney explained.

For Romney's sake, I hope he has been able to move beyond that sort of thinking. I don't imagine it's easy to do so.

As for Benghazi, it is clearly in Romney's interest to talk down the impact Benghazi could have made. Why? Because Romney made a hash out his justified attempt to use the issue during the second debate.

It wasn't entirely Romney's fault; moderator Candy Crowley disgraced herself by vouching for President Obama's misleading statements on the subject. But there's no getting around the fact that Romney didn't have the necessary command of the facts to refute Obama's contention that he called the attacks terrorism. And Romney erred, in my opinion, by steering clear of Benghazi in the final debate.

Moreover, quite apart from Romney's performance, it is not in his interest to whine about the talking points at this late date. Doing so, especially on Leno's show, would only make him look like a bad loser.

Whether intentionally or not, Leno was asking a win-win question from the Obama perspective. Either Romney would admit that the talking points controversy is irrelevant to Obama's victory or Romney would cast himself in a bad light. Romney took the shrewder, and higher, road.

Romney also happens to be right. As John has said, Benghazi could not have changed the outcome of the 2012 election. But we didn't know this at the time, and I wish Romney had made a better run at making it an issue.

Analyze this

Posted: 19 May 2013 08:00 AM PDT

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry "offensive." Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to "move on" and are warning the likes of FNC off:

The Weekly Standard's Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript of this illuminating exchange. Obama to the contrary notwithstanding, it's almost enough to make one think that there is something there there.

On first looking into Chapman's Nixon

Posted: 19 May 2013 06:23 AM PDT

(Scott Johnson)

Our friends at RealClearPolitics have posted Steve Chapman's Chicago Tribune column "The false Nixon equivalence." It addresses the subject I took up in "Nixon's IRS" and, more broadly, in "A Watergate footnote."

Chapman makes the case that comparisons of Obama with Nixon in the matter of the current IRS scandal are misguided. I think the comparison is useful. The outrages committed by the IRS under Obama in the past few years have just begun to come to light. It is way too early to absolve Obama of responsibility, and his lawyerly denial of knowledge last week of the Inspector General's report (as opposed to the abuses themselves) ought to raise your eyebrows if you're paying attention. At the least, I think the comparisons of Obama with Nixon in the case of the IRS lead to a better understanding of the outrages that have come to light.

In my post on Nixon's purported abuse of the IRS I pointed out the futility of Nixon's efforts. Nixon's desire to harass his political enemies through the IRS went unrequited. You have to read Chapman's column closely to see that he confirms this point in every jot and tittle, though I'm not sure he understands it.

Chapman simply quotes Nixon's colorful private statements seeking to harass his opponents via the IRS. Nixon's efforts, however, went approximately nowhere, and Nixon vowed to make headway in his second term. In his second term, IRS Commissioner Donald Alexander refused to execute Nixon's wishes. Nixon's failures with the IRS are almost funny. Here is Chapman:

On multiple occasions, at the behest of the president or his top aides, the IRS was told to audit individuals whose activities created dissatisfaction in the Oval Office.

The chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Lawrence O'Brien, got special attention. One of Nixon's top aides called the commissioner of the IRS and demanded action, hoping to "send him to jail before the elections." Nixon ordered investigations of Democrats who might run against him.

So how did it go? Chapman doesn't say.

Chapman contrasts Nixon speaking in private expressing his desire to misuse the IRS with Obama's public condemnation of the IRS abuses that have just come to light. This is fatuous. Does Chapman suppose that Nixon would have spoken the same in public as he did in private? He would have proclaimed the IRS an "independent agency" just as Obama (falsely) did last week. We have no idea what Obama has said in private regarding the IRS abuses that served him so well. Yet Chapman gives every indication of thinking this is serous analysis. Is this some kind of a joke?

Nixon and his henchmen fruitlessly desired the IRS to "screw" their political opponents. Their efforts were a pathetic failure. It was a case of unrequited hatred. Chapman omits the explanation of Nixon henchman Jack Caulfield, who astutely complained that the IRS was a "monstrous bureaucracy...dominated and controlled by Democrats." Caulfield was on to something.

By contrast with Nixon's failures to misuse the IRS, the IRS has very effectively "screwed" Obama's political opponents, and we have yet to learn what the president knew and when he knew it. Chapman finds those of us who make the comparison (or contrast) of Nixon with Obama as guilty of thought crime, but the comparison is illuminating for anyone with eyes to see.

Live-blogging the House IRS hearing

Posted: 17 May 2013 07:28 AM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

Steve Miller, former acting Commissioner of the IRS, is testifying before the House Ways and Means Oversight subcommittee. Paul Ryan has just taken him to task for his prior testimony to Congress. Ryan demonstrated that Miller failed to meet his obligation to tell Congress the whole truth in his previous testimony.

In prior testimony, Miller was asked what "targeting" of tax exempt groups was taking place at the IRS. At the time Miller, had been briefed about targeting. However, his answer did not divulge the targeting.

Even Democrats don't seem to be buying Miller's attempt to claim that this answer was the whole truth. Their approach is quickly to acknowledge wrongdoing by the IRS and then launch tirades against Citizens United.

The formula - 15 seconds of mock outrage; four minutes of speechifying about the evils of the campaign finance system, and 45 second of blaming Republicans for not giving IRS more resources. But more resources would create the danger of more politicized harassment.

Ryan also asked Miller whether the IRS used the terms "progressive" or "organizing" in identifying organizations to be scrutinized. Miller tried to avoid answering, but eventually acknowledged these terms weren't used.

Miller nonetheless keeps denying that the IRS acted politically. But Pat Tiberi of Ohio has just shown the disparity between the treatment of liberal and conservative groups in Ohio. Conservative groups were left waiting years for approval while left-wing groups received it within months.

A conservative book club was required to identify the books its members read and to provide book reports to the IRS. You can't make this stuff up.

Miller is about as disingenuous and slippery as he can be. He rejects the word "targeting" (used 16 times in the IRS Inspector General's report, which Miller says he accepts) by claiming that there was no bad "intent." So he is asked whether, intent aside, groups were treated differently based on their name.

Astonishingly, Miller says "no." Thank God this sleaze is no longer in charge at the IRS. Given his lack of candor, Miller is lucky he's not been held in contempt of Congress. He certainly is in contempt of its intelligence - and ours.

Miller acknowledges that he promoted Sarah Ingram, the IRS official in charge of the office responsible for tax-exempt organizations between 2009 and 2012, to director of the IRS' Affordable Care Act office. Asked why, Miller responded that she is "an exemplary public servant."

Even giving Ingram the benefit of all doubt (and why should we?), major wrongdoing occurred under her watch. Is this the modern bureaucracy's idea of an exemplary public servant?

Miller goes on to say he does not know whether Ingram was what criteria the IRS was using to select groups for scrutiny. That's hard to believe. But if it's true, that's not exemplary.

The Democrats' defense of having Ingram in the position of director of the IRS' Affordable Care Act office is that the IRS will not have access to medical records. That may be true if the IRS adheres to procedure. But the lesson of this scandal is that the IRS cannot be trusted to adhere to procedure.

Rep. Aaron Schock drives home just how improper IRS questioning of pro-life groups was. Christian Voices for Life was asked whether it provides education on abortion issues on both sides of the question. Miller refuses to comment on the propriety on this inquiry.

The Coalition for Life of Iowa was asked for the content of the prayers of its members. Miller finds this "unusual," but goes no further.

IRS asked another pro-life group to detail the signs its members use when they assemble in front of Planned Parenthood facilities. Again, Miller fails to characterize in harsher terms than "unusual."

It's time for a pet peeve. Miller begins his answer to many questions with the word "so." The word is clearly superfluous when used in this way. When did it become de rigueur for a certain type of person (often the pompous or ingratiating kind) to preface answers and remarks with this word? And why?

Miller begins a few more answers by saying "so." That's my cue to sign off.

MS. found in a boat

CBS News reports:

Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev left a note claiming responsibility for the April 15 attack on the Boston Marathon, reports CBS News senior correspondent John Miller.

Sources tell Miller that Tsarnaev wrote the note in the boat he was hiding in as police pursued him, and as he bled from gunshot wounds sustained in an earlier shootout between police and his older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev. It reads as part manifesto, part suicide note and part justification for the killing and maiming of innocent civilians.

The note - scrawled with a marker on the interior wall of the cabin - said the bombings were retribution for U.S. military action in Afghanistan and Iraq, and called the Boston victims "collateral damage" in the same way Muslims have been in the American-led wars. "When you attack one Muslim, you attack all Muslims," Tsarnaev wrote.

Tsarnaev said he didn't mourn older brother Tamerlan, the other suspect in the bombings, writing that by that point, Tamerlan was a martyr in paradise - and that he expected to join him there soon.

As for joining his brother soon, if only. As for the rest, we can count on President Obama to explain to Tsarnaev how he misunderstands his faith.

The Bulworth identity

Posted: 17 May 2013 05:10 AM PDT

(Scott Johnson)

Peter Baker reports on President Obama's frustrations in the New York Times:

In private, [Obama] has talked longingly of "going Bulworth," a reference to a little-remembered 1998 Warren Beatty movie about a senator who risked it all to say what he really thought. While Mr. Beatty's character had neither the power nor the platform of a president, the metaphor highlights Mr. Obama's desire to be liberated from what he sees as the hindrances on him.

"Probably every president says that from time to time," said David Axelrod, another longtime adviser who has heard Mr. Obama's movie-inspired aspiration. "It's probably cathartic just to say it. But the reality is that while you want to be truthful, you want to be straightforward, you also want to be practical about whatever you're saying."

Baker somewhat cluelessly adds this comment:

The cinematic allusion seems striking given Mr. Obama's rejection of Hollywood's version of the White House, what one former aide calls "the Harry Potter theory of the presidency," which suggests that he could wave a wand and make things happen. At the White House Correspondents Association dinner last month, he bristled at the idea that he should pattern himself after Michael Douglas's assertive character in "The American President."

Turning to Mr. Douglas, who was in the audience, he jokingly asked what his secret was. "Could it be that you were an actor in an Aaron Sorkin liberal fantasy?" Mr. Obama asked. He added later, "I get frustrated sometimes."

I say cluelessly because Obama's presentation of himself as a world-historic, transformative figure is perfectly consistent with his current frustrations. Indeed, if he has any friends, they should try to cheer him up. He's gone a long way toward the "fundamental transformation" of the United States he promised just before he trounced John Mccain in 2008.

In case you need some help with the Bulworth reference, IMDb has compiled quotes from the film. When Bulworth begins to say what he really thinks, he adopts a black persona and lays his shtick down in rap, as in his praise of socialized medicine:

Bulworth: Yo, everybody gonna get sick someday / But nobody knows how they gonna pay / Health care, managed care, HMOs / Ain't gonna work, no sir, not those / 'Cause the thing that's the same in every one of these / Is these mother******* there, the insurance companies!

Cheryl and Tanya: Insurance! Insurance!

Bulworth: Yeah, yeah / You can call it single-payer or Canadian way / Only socialized medicine will ever save the day! Come on now, lemme hear that dirty word - SOCIALISM!

There is a reason Bulworth is little remembered. It falls into a long line of lame liberal satire. But Baker's report is really interesting. One wishes Baker's curiosity weren't so constrained. Dig a little deeper, man! What deep truths is Obama longing to share with the American people?

He's already told us he prefers "single-payer or Canadian way," to take the Bulworthian example above. He hasn't gone so far as to give a shout out to "that dirty word - SOCIALISM," but we can connect the dots from Obamacare to the "single-payer or the Canadian" way by ourselves. From the glories of the Canadian way (as Obama sees them) to "SOCIALISM" only requires a little generalization from a big example.

Perhaps in the Bulworth mode Obama would tell us what fools we were to believe his fake opposition to gay marriage, or his fake support for Israel. He would tell us friendship with Bill Ayers and his support for late term abortion/infanticide.

He would explain the virtues of the Muslim Brotherhood. He would unburden himself of the shame he felt having to disown Jeremiah Wright. He would tell us at long last of his profound feelings for the wisdom of Rashid Khalidi!

He would have a few choice words about Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, but he would also express his contempt for the Republican members of the Gang of Eight. He would express his deep gratitude to low information voters and the members of the media who kept them in that condition.

Whatever Obama would have to say in Bulworth mode might come as a slight surprise to low information voters, but for anyone who has been paying attention it would amount to an utterly superfluous postscript. The only thing close to humorous about it is Obama's conceit that he has concealed his inner light.

UPDATE: I had missed James Taranto's inquiry: "What would Bulworth do?"
