Obama pledges inquiry on Benghazi survivors' testimony
President Obama said he is unaware of longstanding efforts by Republican lawmakers to question survivors of the Benghazi attacks but pledged to investigate it.
"I'm not familiar with this notion that anybody has been blocked from testifying," the president said during a White House news conference on Tuesday. "So what I'll do is I will find out what exactly you're referring to."
Obama's pledge to find out more came as officials at the State Department pushed back against allegations -- first aired Monday on Fox News -- that career employees at the agency have been threatened if they furnish new information about the Benghazi attacks to members of Congress.
"The State Department is deeply committed to meeting its obligation to protect employees, and the State Department would never tolerate -- tolerate or sanction -- retaliation against whistle-blowers on any issue, including this one," spokesman Patrick Ventrell told reporters at a briefing on Tuesday. "That's an obligation we take very seriously -- full stop."
Four Americans, including U.S. ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, were killed in terrorist attacks on U.S. installations in the port city of Benghazi, Libya on the night of Sept. 11, 2012. While the FBI investigation into the attacks continues, no known instances of any perpetrators being brought to justice have yet been reported.
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, will hold the first in a new round of hearings on the subject on May 8.
In two letters to the State Department, dated April 16 and April 26, Issa has sought explicit guidance on how attorneys representing witnesses with knowledge of the Benghazi attacks, including their prelude and aftermath, can receive the security clearances necessary to review classified materials.
"Attorneys representing Department personnel in this matter will require clearance to possess and discuss Top Secret and Sensitive Compartmented Information," Issa wrote on April 16 to Mary McLeod, the principal deputy legal adviser to the State Department.
But Ventrell insisted Tuesday that no such whistle-blowers have come forward, and no requests for security clearances have been made by private attorneys.
Victoria Toensing, a former Justice Department official and onetime Republican counsel to the Senate intelligence committee, disclosed on Monday that she is representing a career State Department official who identifies himself as a whistle-blower. Toensing said this individual has been threatened by superiors with career-ending reprisals if he cooperates with the oversight committee.
'I'm Going to Grab Your Baby, and Don't Resist': Cops Barge Into Calif. Parents' Home, Take Their Baby After They Seek 2nd Medical Opinion - And It's on Video
A California couple had their five-month-old baby "snatched" by police after they took the infant to get a second opinion on a medical procedure, they claim.
Anna and Alex Nikolayev are described as loving parents who took their baby, who has a heart murmur, to Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento when he started exhibiting flu-like symptoms. The family has undergone plenty of doctor visits in the last five months for the their son's heart, and were unsettled by the treatment he was receiving.
At one point, Anna says, a nurse came in and started giving the baby, named Sammy, medicine. When she asked what it was the nurse allegedly replied, "I don't know."
"I'm like, you're working as a nurse, and you don't even know what to give to my baby...?" Anna said in an interview with ABC's local affiliate, News10/KXTV.
They later found out that medicine was antibiotics, which Anna claims the doctor told her Sammy shouldn't have received.
After doctors started discussing heart surgery, the Nikolayevs decided they wanted a second opinion. They weren't categorically opposed to the procedure, but they wanted a different doctor.
The Marketplace Fairness Act is being debated in front of Congress right now. In an unprecedented move, this bill will allow state governments to collect sales tax from companies that aren't even headquartered in that state.
Representative Thomas Massie is fighting tooth and nail against the tax increase. He wrote a letter to Speaker John Boehner and Eric Cantor outlining the pitfalls of internet taxation. Now he needs support from some of the most principled conservatives in the House of Representatives.
The Marketplace Fairness Act is neither fair or market-based. It's collusion between big government and big business that puts a costly burden on small business. It's time to stop government from giving handouts to their buddies in the private sector.
Fighting one-size-fits-all Federal Education Standards
Thank you for helping to stop Pennsylvania's implementation of national education standards known as Common Core. We are making progress in this fight. In just the last week we saw the legislatures in Michigan and Indiana vote to stop the implementation of Common Core.
And just two days ago U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley and eight other Patriots signed a letter asking the Appropriations Committee to eliminate U.S. Department of Education interference in state decisions on academic content standards.
An important Senate Education Committee hearing on Common Core has been scheduled by Senate Education Committee Chairman Mike Folmer at 1:00 p.m. May 15 in Hearing Room #1 of the North Office Building, Harrisburg. It is important that we pack the committee hearing and the hallways with opponents of Common Core. Please attend with your friends if you are available.
It is also important to contact members of the Senate and House to ask them to stop implementation of Common Core. Below are the most important contacts in Harrisburg: It is vitally important to contact members of the Senate and House in Harrisburg and ask them to stop implementation of Common Core in the Commonwealth. Below are the most important contacts in Harrisburg:
Please continue to promote the Pennsylvanians Against Common Core on-line petition and Facebook page. We would like to be able to attend the hearings with a petition with more than 10,000 signatures and we need your help in reaching out to your friends and contacts to make that happen.

We are so blessed that over the last four years thousands of churches in over 60 countries have stood in solidarity with Israel through CUFI Sunday. From the largest cities to the smallest towns, from mega churches in the American heartland to underground churches in China, Christians have come together to express their love and support for Israel.
We pray that your church will participate in the fifth annual CUFI Sunday on May 5, 2013. CUFI will provide you with all the materials you need to implement a successful CUFI Sunday, including videos, literature and Pastor John Hagee's personal sermon notes for your use.
Please click hereto participate in CUFI Sunday. As you'll see, you don't have to be a pastor to ensure that your church stands with Israel on CUFI Sunday.
The date we've chosen for CUFI Sunday -- May 5th -- is close to Israeli Independence Day. As the Jewish State celebrates her 65th birthday, there is no better present we can send than the news of thousands of churches standing in solidarity with her!
We look forward to uniting in action and prayer on behalf of Israel with you and your congregation on May 5, 2013.

Brigitte Gabriel to Speak
in Baltimore, MD!
Brigitte Gabriel
Leading Global Islamic Terrorism Expert
CLICK HERE to view Brigitte's special video invitation!
It is my privilege to invite you to a special event featuring Brigitte Gabriel, Founder and President of ACT! for America. This event is free and open to the public and will be held at the following:
Central Christian
7411 Rossville Blvd. Baltimore, MD 21237
Monday, May 6th at 7 pm
Ms. Gabriel will speak on the rise of Islamic radicalism in your community and in our nation. Her story of survival as a persecuted Christian living in a bomb shelter for 7 years will have you captivated and inspired! She will share how the events of 9/11 compelled her to start ACT! for America, the largest national security grassroots organization in the U.S.
The recent assaults at our embassies have been a sobering wake-up call to America. The lesson is that we should be displaying strength to our enemies, not appeasement which only demonstrates our weakness. Without question, the threats of radical Islam to America have increased.
These are just some of the threats Brigitte will discuss:
Suppression of criticism of Islam
Homegrown jihad
Terrorists infiltrating our borders
The Muslim Brotherhood and creeping sharia law in America
Misrepresentation of history in our public education
You will hear first-hand how ACT! for America is successfully rolling back the tide of radical Islam...how we are winning legislative victories...how we don't have to live in fear or resign ourselves to the inevitability of the threats arrayed against us...and how we will prevail.
I encourage you to forward this email to everyone you know. For those who are not familiar with ACT! for America, please share this short video with them.
I know those of you who have heard Brigitte will agree, not only do you not want to miss this, but you will want to bring your relatives and friends with you. It will be an event people will be talking about for a long time to come!
Invite your friends and come join us in Baltimore, MD! We look forward to seeing you on May 6th

June 19 - 21 we will convene at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC for our fourth annual National Conference & Legislative Briefing.
And here's some really great news: This year's registration fee is only $229! Register by April 15th and you'll receive our "Early Bird" rate of just $189!
We also offer again this year special benefits for Patriot Eagle and Patriot sponsors.
We have some exciting new wrinkles planned for this year's event, and our list of confirmed speakers already includes:
Steven Emerson - Journalist, author, and the Executive Editor of the Investigative Project on Terrorism. A. M. Rosenthal, late-managing editor of The New York Times, described Emerson as "one of the nation's best national security correspondents."
John Guandolo - Former FBI agent and one of America's leading authorities on the Muslim Brotherhood and its inner workings in America. Guandolo spoke at our conference in 2011 and received rave reviews from conference attendees!
Ezra Levant - Canadian lawyer, author, newspaper columnist with Sun Media, and former publisher of the Western Standard. Hauled before a Canadian "human rights commission" because he published the Danish cartoons that satirized Muhammad, Levant's personal account of a politically correct government inquisition is something you won't want to miss!
The National Conference & Legislative Briefing will begin on Wed. evening, June 19th, and conclude on Friday, June 21st at noon, with additional optional training sessions Friday afternoon.
It will again feature our very popular Capitol Hill Awards Luncheon and our signature gala banquet-and of course, our Legislative Briefing, where Members of Congress will brief you on various issues and answer your questions.
So make your plans now to join us in our nation's capital for what promises to be our best National Conference & Legislative Briefing ever!
More details to come!
As Israelis celebrate their 65th Independence Day this year, we should all take time out to reflect on the miracle of Israel's independence. We must also ask ourselves the question, "What can I do to ensure that this miracle of Israel survives and thrives?"
We announced earlier this week that we'll be headed to New Orleans the first weekend in August for this year's RedState Gathering. As a member of our RedState family, we'd like to extend exclusive Early Bird registration and pricing to you (just use the promo code EARLYBIRD on the registration page).
The 2013 RedState Gathering will be held August 2-3 at the Westin Canal Place in New Orleans, LA. We'll have two full days of speakers and activities and you can expect a good mix of elected officials and potential candidates for the 2014 cycle (we'll keep you informed as additions are made).
The Gathering has always been a unique event, in that all speakers, even the most in-demand and influential, pay their own way and make their own travel arrangements. This helps keep our costs low, a savings we are happy to pass along to our conference attendees. Additionally, we strive to get you up close to the speakers, ask them to take your questions, and we take care of nearly all your meals during the conference. Bottom line: fewer frills, more thrills and access.
We are thrilled to once again be joined by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who will be hosting a reception for all attendees and appear at the Gathering podium as a keynote speaker. A huge hit in 2012, we're looking forward to Gov. Jindal playing an even larger role this year as he welcomes us to his home state.
Now, more than ever, true conservative activists must come together to exchange ideas and strategize for the future. That's what this year's Gathering is all about. We hope you'll join us.
P.S. Don't delay! You'll receive 20% off if you register today - just use the promo code EARLYBIRD. Click here.
From a trusted friend:
As some of you may know, I am associated with Coventry Christian Schools as a parent of a graduate (2010) and as member of the Board of Trustees. Last October we spent a wonderful evening honoring Mark Niehls at our revitalized Founder's Dinner and celebrated our shared heritage in the remarkable community that is Coventry Christian Schools. Our vision for future Founder's Dinners is to inspire and inform not only our alumni and current CCS families but to inspire and inform the Tri-County Area and even our region by hosting speakers and artists who can uniquely assist us in celebrating the heritage, core values, and mission of CCS while also lifting our vision for an even greater future built upon the foundation of our past. The caliber of our speakers and guest artists should provide us with wonderful opportunities to share our CCS story with new partners in Christian education. Proceeds from the dinner will be applied to our annual Coventry Kids Fund for CCS scholarships.
This year we are proud to announce that our distinguished guest and speaker is Dr. Benjamin Carson, and our dinner's theme is "Faith of Our Fathers: The Role of Faith in American Schools." Please join us as we welcome Dr. Carson to the Tri-County Area and celebrate the great things God is doing at CCS!
Dr. Carson is a highly regarded neurosurgeon and motivational speaker who has addressed various audiences across the country. He is one of the most honored and recognized physicians in the world and holds more than 60 honorary doctorate degrees along with hundreds of awards and citations. He is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States. He is the author of five books and is the founder of the Carson Scholars Fund. The 2009 award-winning movie entitled Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. as Carson, premiered on TNT and is based on his memoir. Dr. Carson is an authentic disciple of Christ, has been married to his wife Candy for more than 37 years, and is the father of three sons.
The 2013 Founder's Dinner, which will once again be a part of our Homecoming festivities, will be held at the historic Sunnybrook Ballroom in Pottstown on Sunday, October 13th, 2013. Doors will open at 4:30pm, followed by dinner at 5:15. Dress will be business/professional. Tickets will be priced at $100 until May 15th, then will be $125, so reserve your tickets for the reduced price.
Due to Dr. Carson's international reputation and recent prominence in the media, including his recent speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast, we fully anticipate that this event will sell out quickly once advertised to the public. Tickets go on sale to the public April 15. If you are interested in attending, tickets can be purchased online. I will send the link out to those who wish to go on April 15
th
. While online reservations are preferred because they facilitate efficient event planning, you may also complete a paper order form, which I can forward to you as well.
All of us at Coventry Christian Schools, look forward to sharing this very special evening with you and acquainting you with the school and its mission!
Blessings,
Christine Gordon

Heritage Foundation weighs in on Common Core
By Rachel Sheffield April 11, 2013: Policy Analyst, The Heritage Foundation (courtesy of Citizens' Alliance of Pennsylvania)This coming school year, Pennsylvania public schools will begin implementing the Common Core education standards. Like many other states, Common Core standards are quickly making their way into the classroom. While proponents of the standards continue to champion their predicted benefits, there is significant cause for concern.First, the standards represent a massive federal overreach. The Obama Administration jumped on board from the get go, promoting national education standards, via policy and federal taxpayer dollars, as part of their education agenda. Billions of federal dollars have gone towards and are continuing to fund, the promotion and implementation of these standards nationwide. The federal government's involvement with the standards should be alarming. Pushing state and local leaders away from classroom curriculum is not only a breach in federalism but gives parents, teachers, and communities less say over what children learn in school. Education experts have also raised alarm over the quality of the standards. Sandra Stotsky, Professor of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas, has particularly expressed concern over the English Language Arts. Common Core's ELA standards reduce emphasis on literature by promoting the study of "informational texts." Stotsky says
, "A diminished emphasis on literature in the secondary grades makes it unlikely that American students will study a meaningful range of culturally and historically significant literary works before graduation. It also prevents students from acquiring a rich understanding and use of the English language. Perhaps of greatest concern, it may lead to a decreased capacity for analytical thinking."
Common Core goes SOCIAL MEDIA!!! Please share with everyone you know and help us make this a huge success. MARK YOUR CALENDAR!!! Not a TWITTER person.....grab a kid and have some fun.
Parent-Led Reform (@ParentLedReform) will host a Twitter Rally on April 16, 2013 which will start will go from 12:00p-2:00p (EST). We will discuss how the Common Core State Standards effect your family, community and schools? We invite you to participate.
There will be an expert panel and several organizations that will discuss#StopCommonCore. So far I know the panel will consist of:
I'll update with a live link for the Twitter Rally (or you can just follow the hashtag #StopCommonCore) and as the expert panel is finalized.
Update: Be sure to RSVP with the Facebook event invite, this will help keep you up to date with pertinent info.
The whole story on Common Core
Read the sourced and footnoted response to the National Review Online and get all the facts you need to know about Common Core HERE. Compiled by American Principles project and Glenn's research team.
Common Core is the new set of federal education standards being pushed by the Obama administration and several leftist organizations but it's even seeing some support from some conservatives.
defending Common Core, and Glenn gave the definitive response on radio today."Common Core is something that we didn't really get for quite some time and again it's something we've learned from the 9/12 project and concerned parents all around the country that have been bringing this to our attention. When we started in on this work, we thought it was pretty bad. The more we do, the worse it becomes," Glenn said.
Below are some of the points made by the National Review Online in defense of Common Core, followed by Glenn's response.
Today on radio, Glenn gave the definitive response. See that and get all the sources to back it up HERE.
Students in some Albany High School English classes were asked to participate in the unthinkable this week as part of a persuasive writing assignment. The objective? Prove why Jews are evil and convince the teacher of their loyalty to the Third Reich in five paragraphs or less. See the actual lessonHERE.
A concerned parent tipped off TheBlaze to the disturbing fact that NY public schools are teaching the U.N.'s Socialist-leaning Universal Human Rights. We also discovered that the schools are delivering this indoctrination using videos made by the Church of Scientology. Learn what our investigation revealedHERE.
TheBlaze has been at the forefront in uncovering the disturbing details of the nationalized curriculum standard known as Common Core. One of the most troubling aspects of this federal program is that government bureaucrats are currently mining sensitive and highly personal information on children through Common Core's tracking system. Watch the powerful segments from The Glenn Beck Program HERE.
What information is being collected on your kids through Common Core?
TheBlaze TV subscribers can watch past episodes covering Common Core and CSCOPE. The March 14th episode focused on Common Core and the March 7th episode focused on CSCOPE. Not a subscriber? Sign up HERE.
Glenn has spent a lot of time over the past few weeks exposing some of the education initiatives in states across the country that are indoctrinating kids into the radical progressive agenda. Today, Glenn discussed an issue tied into Common Core that many people aren't aware of: data mining.
"We cover many important stories and topics on this program, but I don't think any could be more important than what we are covering tonight: the progressive takeover of America's schools,"
OK....when they look at you like you have a tin foil hat on your head......take some of this information with you. It is 126 pages. I have not read through the entire document (YET) but what I have read is enough to blow off the top of your head. I have highlighted some stuff. KIPP (Charter Schools) has a CHARACTER REPORT CARD on Page 39. So for now start on page 39 and work your way through to page 45. Remember FERPA laws were changed last year and I am sure not one parent is aware that permission to share information about our children no longer requires parental consent. Obama just slipped all these new changes in and I don't believe any parents were ever asked their opinions about these changes. And where was our Republican Congress when this happened???
AGENDA 21 is: The complete control and inventory of every human activity. After your friends read some of this information ask them if they still believe A21 is not real. Chapter 36 of A21 document is devoted to education.
Our government forgets there are still people alive that can think and see through their garbage.
Print this document and get a highlighter...........then start visiting your neighbors, school boards, elected officials and start screaming. GET COMMON CORE AND THE GOVERNMENT out of our class rooms. I think it is time to start a MASS movement for Home Schooling. I know Home Schooling will not be spared. This should be a movement to bring education back to the local level and DESTROY the Federal Department of Education. If our kids are not in school it will create an uprising at all levels. We should not settle for shutting down Common Core because they will masquerade it....they are already doing this in VA. VA supposedly never signed on to Common Core but GUESS WHAT........they ARE implementing Common Core and disguising it from the citizens in VA....of course they aren't doing a good job of hiding it and people in VA are catching on. Our schools have been in the process of a government take over (in earnest) for more than 20 years. If we don't shut down the Department of Education it will never stop. We have to cause a citizen uprising!!
Here is the U.S. Department of Education - Office of Educational Technology document:
"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests"- Patrick Henry
To fix "THE SYSYEM" We must become "THE SYSTEM" - k. bracken "The change we seek has always required great struggle and great sacrifice." - Barack Hussein Obama "The man who speaks to you of sacrifice, speaks of slaves and masters. And intends to be the master." - Ayn Rand
Yes, it's true: You can support ACT! for America-at no cost to you!An important message from Guy Rodgers, Executive Director
The next time you make an online purchase of almost anything, you could be helping ACT! for America-at no cost to you.
Sound too good to be true? It isn't.
All you have to do is sign up for "iGive"-a program that's been around since 1997.
The concept is as powerful as it is simple.
Every time an iGive member makes an online purchase at over 1,000 brand-name stores, a percentage of that purchase is donated to that person's charity of choice.
And with the holidays just around the corner, you could be helping ACT! for America with every gift you buy!
The concept isn't new. In the mid-1990s many supporters of non-profit organizations signed up with long distance telephone programs where a percentage of their bill was donated to their charity of choice.
But our investigation of iGive has convinced us that this program has an ease of use and sophistication that we find remarkable.
Imagine booking a hotel room on Orbitz-and having 1.6% of that purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
Or buying an Xbox at Best Buy-and having 1.2% of the purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
The same goes for buying merchandise at Amazon, Bath and Body Works, Advance Auto Parts, Game Stop, Kmart, Home Depot, Holiday Inn, Old Navy, NASCAR Superstore, Overstock.com, Mattel, J.C. Penney, Office Max, QVC, Radio Shack, Shoe Carnival, Pottery Barn-and on and on the list goes.
In other words, every time you make a purchase of merchandise you would buy anyway, you would be financially supporting ACT! for America!
All you have to do is log on below and follow the directions to create your account and download the iGive "button." (Note: downloading the "button" is key).
When I was first informed of iGive, I was skeptical. I've seen these ideas come and go. Often, they're too good to be true. Or there are all kinds of glitches and problems.
So I spent hours researching.
I looked at online customer reviews (which were very good). I read all of iGive's fine print, such as Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. I signed up and even emailed two tech support questions to see how good their tech support was.
And the more I dug, the more I liked what I saw. For instance, both of my tech support questions were responded to within 60 minutes. How often does THAT happen?
As you know from our Patriot Partner program, we're all about encouraging a lot of people to each do a little-to do something. When everyone does a little, together we accomplish a lot.
So consider what could happen.
If just 1% of ACT! for America members each purchased just $400 in merchandise in 2013, from all the available outlets, and the average percentage donated to ACT! was 1.5%, the total amount donated back to ACT! for America would be...
...$15,000. That's a lot of money, wouldn't you agree?
And if you were one of those ACT! for America members, it wouldn't cost you one thin dime to help ACT! for America receive $15,000.
If this idea really caught on, and eventually 5% of our members made purchases with iGive, that $15,000 could explode to $50,000, $75,000 or more!
What's more, that 1.5% figure might be low. Many of the merchants offer percentage donations that are much higher. One printer inkjet company I looked at offered 13%!
Every merchant website you visit tells you right at the top what percentage of your purchase price will be donated to ACT! for America.
Just think what we could accomplish with an extra $15,000, $50,000 or $75,000 in our fight against radical Islam!
One of the things I most wanted to know was their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Check it out for yourself. I confirmed the terms with a company representative. And I like what I learned. As security-conscious as I am, I have no hesitation using the service-and I'm already doing so.
I know there are many people out there who would love to support ACT! for America, or give more than they're giving, but in these tough economic times they simply can't.

"This fantastic documentary is both entertaining and educational" - Dove Foundation
Rev. C.L. Bryant's documentary Runaway Slave has been a runaway hit! The film recently won the Crystal Dove Seal, and has been making waves across the country.
Runaway Slave is the story of C.L. Bryant, a former NAACP Chapter president who realized that the Democrat Party and progressive movement was hurting Africa-Americans and keeping them stuck on the government dole. Rev. Bryant discusses the impact of progressivism on the African-American community and how freedom works with a host of leaders including Dr. Alveda King, Herman Cain, Allen West, Dr. Thomas Sowell, and many others.
The Crystal Dove Seal award is given to films that are family-friendly and provide wholesome, educational content. Runaway Slave is an important movie for all audiences, and it has a message that should be heard if we want to achieve a society where character is king.
Congratulations to Rev. C.L. Bryant and the Runaway Slave team on their achievement!
According to a poll earlier this year, voters have a higher opinion of cockroaches than Congressmen. President Obama's personal popularity remains solid, but his job approval rating is going down. Why are our elected officials unpopular?
It might just be because they are not listening. In poll after poll, the American people continue to tell Washington that their top priority is the economy. A recent Fox News poll asked participants what is the most important issue facing the nation. The results: the economy got 42 percent, deficit 17 percent, guns 5 percent, and immigration 4 percent.
President Obama inherited a weak economy, to be sure, but his policies, including Obamacare with its costly expected mandates on businesses and the Dodd-Frank financial services regulations have made the situation worse. Even when we see some economic growth, the jobs growth has been feeble. People have been leaving the workforce. Heritage's James Sherk noted recently, "Labor force participation dropped to 63.3 percent, the lowest rate since 1979.." America needs to get its people back to productive work, not recruit Americans to start taking food stamps.
Instead of working on bills that would help the economy, right now the politicians are working on an Internet sales tax bill and a comprehensive immigration bill offering amnesty.
The liberals' push on each of these issues will be destructive to our liberties. The Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action have been fighting liberal policy each step of the way.
Heritage has also criticized the move for a new Internet sales tax to help states raise more funds to grow government. The Senate is considering forcing businesses to collect taxes for states where they have no physical presence-an affront to representative government and the camel's nose under the proverbial tent of Internet regulation.
Liberals effectively control the agenda in Washington. Harry Reid (D-NV) has the gavel in the Senate, and President Obama has the bully pulpit. Washington is focused on what they want to talk about and what they are pushing. A compliant press corps certainly amplifies their message.
But conservatives in the House of Representatives are not helpless. They should try to set the agenda on the economy. Last session, they passed some 40 bills that they said would be good for the economy, all of which died in the Senate. But in this Congress, they seem to have given up.
In some ways, who can blame them since liberals reject their ideas out of hand? It would be far better for America, though, if they would set forth their own agenda and make clear that distractions like comprehensive immigration reform with amnesty, and the Internet sales tax are going nowhere in the House.
Instead, House leadership is almost inviting the divisive and distracting issues by saying nothing, or worse, saying the House will take up similar legislation (in the case of immigration reform).
Washington could do a number of things to improve the economy. Here are three especially relevant now: (1) reverse the New Year's tax hikes that are already hurting economic growth, (2) take steps, even modest ones supported by both parties, to reduce the unfunded long-term obligations of entitlement programs and get us on a path to balance the budget in 10 years (because adding debt slows the economy), and (3) repeal, or at least delay, Obamacare, whose crushing mandates and costs are destroying jobs and trampling on the religious liberty of employers from Hobby Lobby to social service ministries to homeless shelters.
If those sound too partisan, why not take an easy first step and approve the Keystone XL pipeline? It would create thousands of well-paid jobs. The President could act, but if he does not, then Congress should approve the pipeline and force the President to veto it. During the Senate budget debate, an amendment from Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) supporting Keystone passed 62-37.
We know that America's economy won't be helped when liberals are waging ideological battles. Conservatives in states like Wisconsin, Texas, and South Carolina are showing they have real solutions that benefit all their citizens. They are fighting for limited government, lower taxes, balanced budgets, and more economic freedom.
Conservatives in Washington should take notice. Washington politicians will continue to be unpopular with the American people if they focus on the wrong issues and do so in a way that divides the American people. Wake up, Washington-our economy is hurting.
Prevailing wage laws increase the cost of constructions projects all across our state, burdening taxpayers and crowding out resources that could be used elsewhere.
Reform is LONG past due in Pennsylvania!
On April 29, House Bill 1257 was referred to the House Labor and Industry Committee. You can view committee members here:
This bill would require that at least 51% of the cost of the project be paid for with public moneys before the Prevailing Wage laws kick in.
Of course we would prefer to eliminate Prevailing Wage laws altogether and allow the labor market to work. However, this bill is an improvement over what we currently have, and would help Pennsylvania taxpayers and the economy in general.
I urge you to contact your state rep and Labor Committee Chair Mario Scavelllo in support of HB 1257.
1.Could Christian Chaplains Be Silenced Under Pentagon Rules?
Religious liberty groups have grave concerns after they learned the Pentagon is vetting its guide on religious tolerance with a group that compared Christian evangelism to "rape" and advocated that military personnel who proselytize should be court martialed.
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation is calling on the Air Force to enforce a regulation that they believe calls for the court martial of any service member caught proselytizing.
President Mikey Weinstein and others from his organization met privately with Pentagon officials on April 23. He said U.S. troops who proselytize are guilty of sedition and treason and should be punished - by the hundreds if necessary - to stave off what he called a "tidal wave of fundamentalists." . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
2.Aakash Abbi's Actions Cause Students to Lose Scholarships
Good for Frank Luntz. There should be consequences for Aakash Abbi's actions, though judging by his twitter feed, Aakash Abbi is not remorseful and does not view it as his fault that scholarships are going away.
Aakash Abbi attended a lecture by Frank Luntz at the University of Pennsylvania. A student asked Luntz a question. Before Luntz began, he said he would only answer if it was all off the record. Then Luntz had a few choice and inappropriate words for Rush Limbaugh and others. While I disagree with Luntz's assessment, for those blaming Luntz for what happened next, let me be blunt: but for Aakash Abbi's actions, Luntz's next actions would never have occurred. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
3.Food stamps for illegal aliens
There has been much controversy over the government's efforts to advertise welfare programs, particularly the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), otherwise known as the "food stamp" program.Only they're not "stamps" any more. The dependent masses of Food Stamp Nation get a little credit card, called an EBT Card, which they can use in the checkout lines, just like people who pay for their own food.
In theory, this electronic processing of food stamp benefits should have provided a data-processing defense against abuse. In practice, tales of outrageous abuse have only grown more common, as EBT cards are used to purchase everything from unhealthy groceries the Nanny State otherwise discourages - such as sugary carbonated beverages - to luxury foods, and even more creative uses like posting bail or tipping exotic dancers. The latter incidents are among the many bizarre abuses that arise from the ability of EBT card holders to withdraw cash from ATM machines, at which point all public accountability for the money is lost.
Amazingly enough, there isn't any serious effort currently being made to process data from EBT card transactions, although Rep. Tom Marino (R-PA) has been trying to change that with a bill called the SNAP Transparency Act.The Washington Times describes the goal of this bill as the creation of "an online, searchable database that uses bar codes to break down how many taxpayer dollars in food stamps are spent on individual products, from Kit Kat bars to whole milk.". . . please click here for the rest of the post →

All Americans should find the Benghazi attack and the total lack of response and seeming indifference to it at the highest levels of our government deeply troubling.
The ADL's longtime National Director seemed to want to do everything possible to direct attention away from the possibility that the Boston Marathon attack was the work of Islamic terrorists.
The inescapable conclusion, is that law enforcement at all levels broke down, leaving law-abiding citizens and the police themselves exposed and vulnerable to criminal and terrorist elements.

Someone chalked a long red line along the street outside my building. The line is sloppy, it turns, wavers and meanders. Car tires have already rubbed it pink in places and dogs have done to it what large four-legged animals do naturally when taken out of the confines of narrow apartments. The line turns a corner and dives inside a pothole near an exposed sewer grate. And then it is gone.
Obama's red line is more famous than my red line. It appears in the Washington Post and the New York Times. There are reams of speculation over what the nature of the red line is, whether the red line has been crossed, what Obama should do about the crossing of the red line and how many devils can dance on the edge of a red line while juggling Sarin canisters.
Despite being much more famous, Obama's red line matters about as much as the one in front of my building. It's there one day and gone the next and no one really cares.
The red line, the famous one in D.C. is a meaningless. It exists because politicians and reporters expect it to exist. It's a necessary optical illusion that convinces them that Eisenhower or JFK are still in the White House and that the United States of America is a rational world power with standards that on truly important matters such as human rights and the percentage of cow flatulence that is to be allowed to ascend into the atmosphere.
Obama's red line never existed. It was the sort of thing that Obama occasionally said because people expected him to say it. Chemical weapons are bad, okay? If you use them, we'll get really upset. And the White House press corps pawed its iPads, hardly able to type for the thrills shooting through their nervous systems at being in the presence of a leader they could truly respect for his compassion and wisdom.
But Obama and his teleprompter are far too elegant wordsmiths to get bogged down in red lines. "That would change my calculus. That would change my equation," Obama declared at one point, channeling his inner Stephen Hawking, but sounding more like a punchline from Big Bang Theory. Whatever changes have happened to Obama's calculus equations from the possible use or non-use of chemical weapons, the equation is still up there on the blackboard and it has no solution.
The idea that Obama has a red line governed by the number of people who are killed is slightly sillier than the plot of every big budget summer movie rolled together. As far back as his campaign, Obama made it clear that genocide in Sudan or the Congo was not a criteria for military intervention. But when Gaddafi took the initiative, Obama went to war in defense of a lovely peaceful city named Benghazi that the Nobel Peace Prize winner declared was on the verge of being exterminated.
Unless the Syrian rebels figured out some way to fake the presence of sarin in the bloodstream of some volunteers, the Syrian regime used chemical weapons and crossed the red line . . . and no one can come up with a way to demonstrate the consequences of crossing that line.
But U.S. Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md.) told ABC News yesterday that the FBI is also looking into "persons of interest" in the U.S. possibly linked to the Boston bombings.
U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) said he's spoken with the FBI about the probe into possible trainers the brothers had.
"Are they overseas in the Chechen region or are they in the United States?" he said. "In my conversations with the FBI, that's the big question. They've casted a wide net both overseas and in the United States to find out where this person is. But I think the experts all agree that there is someone who did train these two individuals."
State lawmakers have launched an investigation into whether the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings improperly received public benefits.
Sources who have seen the 500 pages of documents sent to the House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight told News Center 5's Janet Wu that the Tsarnaev family -- including the parents of the two bombing suspects, the two suspects themselves, their sisters, the widow of the suspect killed and their child -- received "every conceivable public benefit available out there."
That's the conclusion to draw from the new report on gross domestic product. The U.S. economy grew at a 2.5 percent annual rate in the first three months of the year, which was an improvement from the weak 0.4 percent of the final months of 2012... We're muddling along at basically the same pace we've been at for nearly four straight years of this dismal recovery, with growth too slow to make up the lost economic ground from the 2008-2009 recession."
National debt? $16,756,644,393,707.05, as of Friday. (That's $16.7 trillion.)
In total, it appears that there will be 30 million to 40 million people damaged in some fashion by the Affordable Care Act-more than one in 10 Americans. When that reality becomes clearer, the law is going to start losing its friends in the media, who are inclined to support the president and his initiatives. We'll hear about innocent victims who saw their premiums skyrocket, who were barred from seeing their usual doctor, who had their hours cut or lost their insurance entirely-all thanks to the faceless bureaucracy administering a federal law.
With all of this going on, guess what the top story was on Memeorandum, measuring what bloggers and news sites are writing about?
An NBA player coming out of the closet as gay. Wait, there's more:
A groundbreaking pronouncement from NBA veteran Jason Collins - "I'm gay" - reverberated Monday through Washington, generating accolades from lawmakers on Twitter and a supportive phone call from President Barack Obama.
Hours after Collins disclosed his sexuality in an online article, Obama reached out by phone, expressing his support and telling Collins he was impressed by his courage, the White House said.
Collins, 34, becomes the first active player in one of four major U.S. professional sports leagues to come out as gay. He has played for six teams in 12 seasons, including this past season with the Washington Wizards, and is now a free agent.
This president can't get squat done about North Korea or Syria, and so he doesn't want us to focus on those far-off lands. His policies have done diddlysquat for most of the long-term unemployed. He's not interested in throwing people off public assistance, even when they don't deserve it, and he wants to insist that every terror attack is a one-time occurrence, instead of connected bits of an international ideological movement dedicated to killing Americans. Obamacare's a mess, and he's hoping you don't notice. The national debt continues to increase, even with the alleged horrors of sequestration.
"God, gays, and guns." That's what he's got left. And that's what he hopes stays on your mind, for as many days between now and November 2014 as possible.
NBC Affiliate in Richmond Does Actual Hard-Hitting Investigative Journalism about GreenTech
Virginia Republicans are feeling pretty good about how the GreenTech Automotive story has dominated the early weeks of the state's gubernatorial race. By nominating Washington's most high-profile fundraiser and wheeler-dealer in Terry McAuliffe, Virginia's Democrats have offered the state's political press - a fairly aggressive group - a story of elaborate unkept promises and whiffs of crony capitalism.
The NBC affiliate in Richmond did a fantastically detailed, and hard-hitting, two-part report, one that probably ranks among the best of local-television political journalism. You can see the video here and here, and they lay it out in print form here:
Tunica has long been in search of hope. They thought they found it in McAuliffe.
"Now we start at full factory production," McAuliffe said at the launch of the Greentech's first manufacturing facility, an elevator factory the company bought in nearby Horn Lake, MS.
"At full capacity," he promised, "we can make a car an hour."
The July 2012 roll out was impressive. It featured former President Bill Clinton and Mississippi's then-Governor Haley Barbour, a Republican. The plan was to start full production in Horn Lake and immediately begin construction of a massive, permanent plant in Tunica.
That was nine months ago. Today the site in Tunica is an empty field with a Greentech sign out front. The only sign of construction is a makeshift gravel driveway. It is, for the most part, a large, empty space filled with overgrown grass.
Barbara Tuchel worries that is all it will ever be.
"I'd like to know where his plant is," she said while surveying the empty lot. "Where the thousand jobs are."
Tuchel is part of an independent group demanding transparency in Tunica's government. She believes her county's board was swayed by McAuliffe and his Chinese partners to invest state money in a project that had no hope of succeeding.
Greentech and Tunica County received a combined $5 million in loans to develop the Tunica site. In order to make good on those loans they must invest $60 million in the manufacturing plant and employ 350 people by December 31, 2014.
The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) considers Greentech in good standing when it comes to the loan. Sally Williams, a spokesperson for the agency, said they are focused on the 2014 deadline.
"Greentech has done everything it has told us it would," she said in an emailed statement.
But with the clock ticking on 2014, Tuchel has become less and less convinced their plan will work. . . .
There is a pretty significant difference between what McAuliffe and Greentech promised publically and what they agreed to with state leaders to bring the project to Mississippi.
Mississippi's Development Authority is only expecting 350 jobs by the end of 2014. McAuliffe pledged much more and much sooner.
Here are just some of his publically-stated goals:
*Greentech will start full production in the fall of 2012. At full production they will produce a car an hour.
*Greentech will eventually produce 100 thousand "green energy" cars.
*Greentech will build a 300 to 400 thousand square foot manufacturing plant in Tunica.
At this point there is no evidence any of this has occurred.
Brutal, just brutal. If you're impressed with this kind of work from a local network affiliate, make sure you tell @RyanNobles.
South Carolina Media Notices Congressional Race Has Largely Ignored Issues So Far
A revealing word in the lead of the Post and Courier's coverage of the Mark Sanford-Elizabeth Colbert Busch debate:
The race for Tim Scott's former congressional seat finally turned to issues Monday, as Republican Mark Sanford and Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch met for the first - and probably only - time.
They later note, "Colbert Busch has held several public events, mostly emphasizing her themes of creating new jobs and pushing for equal pay for women and men, though she has offered relatively few details."
The Island Packet offers some of the back-and-forth:
Colbert Busch said she met with then-Congressman Sanford when she was working as a government liaison for a maritime company to encourage Sanford to support the dredging project. Sanford, she said, indicated he would do so.
"And in fact you didn't tell the truth. In fact, you turned around and did the opposite," Colbert Busch said to Sanford.
Sanford fired back that Colbert Busch later wrote him a $500 campaign-contribution check during his first gubernatorial run.
"I don't think it must have bothered her that much, given she wrote a $500 check in support of my candidacy," said Sanford, smiling.
Sanford also denied Colbert Busch's claims he did not support the dredging and other economic-development projects, adding he disagreed with the methods of paying for the projects, not the actual projects.
"Because I was against earmarks before being against earmarks was cool," he said.
Meanwhile, Sanford worked to tie Colbert Busch to Pelosi who, he repeatedly said, has put money in the race through national Democratic groups that are attempting to buy the election.
"I don't think Nancy Pelosi gives $370,000 expecting (Colbert Busch) not to vote for (her for) speaker," Sanford said.
Colbert Busch never directly addressed the Pelosi charge, leaving it instead to her supporters who booed each time Sanford mentioned Pelosi.
Love Mark Sanford, hate him, whatever. Just don't let this woman coast into office on the themes of "My brother makes you laugh" and "Isn't the other guy just terrible?"
ADDENDUM: I saw on Twitter someone declare that Tim Tebow is an example of how "God loves us, but that doesn't mean he won't test us." Indeed, and I find that the instrument of his testing is quite often the New York Jets.

Plea Deal to Waive Death Penalty
By: Paul Scicchitano
NBC News is reporting that attorneys for accused Boston Marathon Bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are discussing a possible deal in which federal prosecutors might consider waiving the death penalty in exchange for a "full accounting" of the attack that left three people dead and 264 people injured.
Citing legal sources, correspondent Pete Williams reported on "NBC Nightly News" that prosecutors and lawyers for Tsarnaev "have begun very early discussions about a possible deal in which he could avoid the death penalty in return for a full accounting to the FBI of what happened and why as investigators continue working to find those answers for themselves." Dzhokhar was charged with federal terrorism offenses last week following a heated debate in which some prominent Republican lawmakers called for the suspect to be treated as an enemy combatant, which would have potentially given investigators more latitude to question him about other plots.
No matter how hard Obama's well-placed traitors and liars (i.e. Napolitano) attempt to deceive the American people on Boston (and Benghazi), the truth will out.
Investigators have found female DNA on at least one of the bombs used in the Boston Marathon attacks, though they haven't determined whose DNA it is or whether that means a woman helped the two suspects carry out the attacks, according to U.S. officials briefed on the probe.
The officials familiar with the case cautioned that there could be multiple explanations for why the DNA of someone other than the two bombing suspects-Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother, Dzhokhar-could have been found on remnants of the exploded devices. The genetic material could have come, for example, from a store clerk who handled materials used in the bombs or a stray hair that ended up in the bomb.
On Monday, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents were seen leaving the Rhode Island home of the parents of Katherine Russell, the widow of Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The elder brother died after a shootout with police four days after the April 15 bombings.
EX-GIRLFRIEND OF BOSTON BOMBER: "HE BECAME EXTREMELY RELIGIOUS," TRIED TO FORCE HER TO CONVERT, "MADE HER WEAR AN ISLAMIC HIJAB AND PRAY TO ALLAH AND SLAPPED HER WHEN SHE WORE WESTERN CLOTHES"
It's all here: devout, brutal, misogynist, controlling -- Islam. Check this out from The Right Scoop (thanks to John Q):
THE SUN UK - AN ex-girlfriend of dead Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev has told howhe tried to brainwash her into becoming a Muslim fanatic who hated America.
Nadine Ascencao, 24, said Tamerlan made her wear an Islamic hijab and pray to Allah and slapped her when she wore Western clothes.
But she was so blindly in love with the handsome boxer who had taken her virginity, she did her utmost to make him happy.
Nadine said: "I went to his mosque a couple of times and even looked into converting to make him happy. I thought, 'This is crazy' - but I still did it for him.
"Tamerlan had taken my virginity and said he loved me because I was pure and hadn't been with any other guys. I was in love and scared he'd leave me if I didn't do what he said. Looking back I had a lucky escape."
During their three-year relationship she watched him change from a cannabis-smoking, party-loving teenager into a violent extremist.
She said: "One minute he's this funny, normal guy who liked boxing and having fun, the next he is praying four times a day, watching Islamic videos and talking insane nonsense.
"HOAX"?: BOEING CONFIRMS 767 PART FOUND ON GROUND ZERO MOSQUE SITE IS FROM SEPT. 11 TERROR ATTACK
The offensive and disgusting Gound Zero mosqueteers called the 911 plane part found at the supremacist Ground Zero mosque site a "hoax."
Hoax? The Ground Zero mega mosque is a hoax. There has never been a mosque of reconcilation and healing built on the site of a jihadi attack. Ever. It is an Islamic pattern to build triumphal mosques on the cherished sites of conquered lands.
Are the Feds and NYPD checking the area for human remains? We are still finding human remains all these many years later. That building is a war memorial. Gamal intends to desecrate that site. We must fight it every step of the way.
A charred portion of jet wing found in an alley near Ground Zero belonged to one of the two planes that smashed into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, officials confirmed yesterday.
Boeing technicians informed the NYPD that the five-foot-long section of metal support for a wing flap that helps regulate speed - discovered at the rear of 51 Park Place near the "Ground Zero Mosque'' - was matched to one of the two 767s.
"It is believed to be from one of the two aircraft destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001, but it could not be determined which one," said NYPD spokesman Paul Browne.

April 30, 2013 "The Southern Border: Our Welcome Mat for Terrorists" Friday morning, June 21st, Michael Cutler, a veteran of 30 years with the Immigration and Naturalization Service, will do a presentation on terrorism and immigration at our National Conference & Legislative Briefing.
The Boston jihadist bombing has reminded America, once again, of the problems with our immigration policies, from our porous southern border to a visa, refugee and asylum process that is a mess. We refer you to the National Review Online story below (highlights added).
Our national conference is now 75% sold out. For details, registration and hotel reservations, click on the image below.
The Southern Border: Our Welcome Mat for TerroristsWe regularly intercept large numbers of individuals from terrorist-sponsoring nations.By Deroy Murdock There are at least 7,518 reasons to get the U.S./Mexican border under control. That equals the number of aliens apprehended in fiscal year 2011 from the four nations the U.S. government labels "state sponsors of terrorism" and ten additional "countries of interest." Since January 2010, those flying into America via these 14 nations face enhanced screening; as the Transportation Security Administration announced, "Effective aviation security must begin beyond our borders." U.S. national security merits at least that much vigilance on our borders.
The roaring immigration-reform debate this year largely addresses Hispanic aliens who illegally cross the border. Far more worrisome, however, are the thousands who break into America from countries "where we have concerns, particularly about al-Qaeda affiliates," a top State Department official told CNN. These include Cubans, Iranians, Sudanese, and Syrians whose governments are federally designated "state sponsors of terrorism." As indicated by the latest information in Table 34 of Customs and Border Protection's Immigration Yearbook 2011, 198 Sudanese were nabbed while penetrating the USA. Between FY 2002 and 2011, there were 1,207 such arrests. (These figures cover all U.S. borders, although, as Table 35 confirms, 96.3 percent of detainees overall crossed from Mexico.) Like other immigrants, most Sudanese seek better lives here. But some may be vectors for the same militant Islam that literally tore Sudan in two.
In FY 2011, 108 Syrians were stopped at our borders; over ten years, the number is 1,353. Syria is a key supporter of Hezbollah, and Bashar Assad's unstable regime reportedly has attacked its domestic opponents with chemical weapons.
As for Iranians, 276 were caught in FY 2011, while 2,310 were captured over the previous ten years. Iran also backs Hezbollah, hates "the Great Satan," and craves atomic weapons.
The other ten "countries of interest" are Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Yemen, and: *Afghanistan: The Taliban's stronghold and current theater of America's longest war. Afghans halted in FY 2011: 106. Prior ten fiscal years: 681. *Nigeria: The land of underwear bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab suffers under sharia law in its northern provinces. Respective data: 591, 4,525. *Pakistan: Hideaway of the Pakistani Taliban and the late Osama bin Laden. 525, 10,682. *Saudi Arabia: Generous benefactor of radical imams and militant mosques worldwide; birthplace of 15 of the 19 September 11 hijackers. 123, 986. *Somalia: Home of Indian Ocean pirates and al-Qaeda's al-Shabaab franchise. In October 1993, Islamic terrorists there shot down two Black Hawk helicopters, killed 18 U.S. soldiers, and dragged several of their bodies through Mogadishu's streets. 323, 1,524.

At a Capitol Hill hearing last July, Homeland Security secretary Janet Napolitano conceded that terrorists enter the U.S. via the U.S./Mexican border "from time to time."
The House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Oversight last November publishedA Line in the Sand: Countering Crime, Violence, and Terror at the Southwest Border. As this study explained: The Congressional Research Service reports that between September 2001 and September 2012, there have been 59 homegrown violent jihadist plots within the United States. Of growing concern and potentially a more violent threat to American citizens is the enhanced ability of Middle East terrorist organizations, aided by their relationships and growing presence in the Western Hemisphere, to exploit the Southwest border to enter the United States undetected.
A Line in the Sand offers chilling portraits of some who treat the southern border as America's welcome mat.
* On January 11, 2011, U.S. agents discovered Said Jaziri in a car trunk trying to enter near San Diego. Said said that he had traveled from his native Tunisia to Tijuana and paid smugglers $5,000 to sneak him across the border. The French government previously convicted and deported Jaziri for assaulting a Muslim whom he considered insufficiently devout. In 2006, Jaziri advocated killing Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard for creating what Jaziri called sacrilegious drawings of the Prophet Mohammed.
* Somalia's Ahmed Muhammed Dhakane told authorities in 2011 that he earned up to $75,000 per day smuggling East Africans into America. His clients included three al-Shabaab terrorists. As the House report states: "Dhakane cautioned that each of these individuals is ready to die for their cause and would fight against the United States if the jihad moved from overseas to the U.S. mainland."
* On June 4, 2010, Anthony Joseph Tracy (a.k.a. Yusuf Noor) was convicted of conspiring to slip aliens into America. Tracy told federal investigators that Cuban diplomats used his travel agency in Kenya - Noor Services Ltd. - to transfer 272 Somalis to Havana. They proceeded to Belize, through Mexico, and then trespassed into the U.S. Tracy, who converted to Islam in prison in the 1990s, claims he refused to assist al-Shabaab. But officials discovered an e-mail in which he casually wrote: "i helped a lot of Somalis and most are good but there are some who are bad and i leave them to ALLAH . . . "
And just remember: These anecdotes and statistics involve individuals whom authorities intercepted. At a Capitol Hill hearing last July, Homeland Security secretary Janet Napolitano conceded that terrorists enter the U.S. via the U.S./Mexican border "from time to time."

Rand Paul: 1984's Busting Out All Over
Very soon, America may have cameras everywhere, Sen. Rand Paul told Eric Bolling on Fox News this weekend.
Paul noted that in response to the Boston Marathon bombings there have been calls for increased security measures at public events and anyplace the public gathers.
We must not allow the government to install security cameras and other surveillance devices "willy-nilly," Paul said. "I think it's important to note that it's a slippery slope, and someday you may have cameras everywhere," he noted.
He compared our situation to the George Orwell novel "1984," which depicted a dictatorial society where everyone was watched all the time by government agents behind the supposedly benign facade of Big Brother.
Paul is getting a reputation as one of only a few politicians actually looking out for the American public and its rights. Earlier this year, his filibuster that forced President Obama to openly state that he would not use military drones to target and kill Americans in the United States won him praises even from the far Left.
Adding insult to injury, the Boston Herald reports that the family of terrorist brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev received at least $100,000 in taxpayer-funded welfare benefits in recent years. The assistance included "cash and food stamps to Section 8 housing." Governor Deval Patrick (D) attempted to prevent this information from coming out, citing "privacy concerns" of the accused jihadists.
Back in Washington, Senator Jeff Sessions is sounding the alarm on the comprehensive immigration proposal now pending in the Senate. According Sen. Sessions, a review by his staff "identified a number of loopholes that would allow illegal immigrants to draw public benefits even sooner than advertised."
Let Them Speak!
Fox News reports that the State Department and the CIA have threatened "at least four career officials" who want to testify as "whistle-blowers" in the Benghazi investigations.
Victoria Toensing, a former Justice Department official who is representing one of these "whistle-blowers," told Fox that the individuals have been subjected to "some very despicable threats ...making them well aware that their careers will be over" if they talk to Congress.
Meanwhile the stonewalling continues at the State Department. In response to congressional demands for more information, a State Department spokesman said, "We think that we've done an independent investigation... and that we've shared those findings with the U.S. Congress. And that should be enough." In other words, "Take our word for it and stop complaining."
At today's White House press conference, Ed Henry of Fox News asked President Obama about the whistle-blowers and whether he would allow them to testify. Obama dismissed his question, saying, "I am not familiar with this notion that anyone has been blocked from testifying. I'll look into it." Don't hold your breath, Ed.
According to a new Rasmussen poll, 78% of likely voters think it is "at least somewhat important" to learn the truth about the Benghazi attacks. But only 32% of likely voters think the Obama Administration has done a good job of explaining those events. The administration could do itself a huge favor here by trying a little harder. Instead, it is doing everything possible to prevent the public from learning more.
This is a perfect example of how the media's left-wing bias protects the administration. If a Republican president were in office and dragging his feet this way, the media would be accusing him of stonewalling and the witnesses would be hailed as heroes.
Instead the media are largely silent. And if the witnesses ever come forward, they will likely be treated like traitors, not whistle-blowers.
Gosnell Is Not Alone
The fate of abortionist Kermit Gosnell is now in the hands of jurors. Many Americans are still completely unaware of his trial and the gruesome atrocities he committed in the name of "reproductive choice." They don't know because Big Media conspired to cover it up. Consider this analysis from our friends at the Media Research Center:
"Forty two days ago, on March 18, 2013, abortionist Kermit Gosnell went on trial...Yet, in the seven weeks that followed, ABC News has permitted no coverage, discussion or mention of the case, not even a single utterance of Dr. Gosnell's name.
"But that's not due to lack of interest in shocking criminal cases. Over the same 42 days, the Media Research Center found that ABC's 'Good Morning America' has aired 41 stories -- about one per day -- on other sensational criminal cases ... totaling 109 minutes of coverage."
The sad reality is that while Gosnell's crimes may be an extreme case he is by no means alone in his contempt for life. The pro-life group Live Action released two new undercover videos this week from abortion mills in the Bronx and Washington, D.C., revealing that both facilities might allow a baby born during a botched abortion to die.
At the Bronx "clinic," a staffer discussing a late-term abortion said she would essentially drown the baby in a jar of solution to stop it from "twitching." When an investigator asked what she should do if the two-day-long procedure caused her to go into labor at home and delivered a live baby, the staffer says, "Flush it!"
The D.C. abortionist was more artful with his choice of words. When asked what he would do if a baby were born alive, he said:
"Technically -- you know, legally we would be obligated to help it, you know, to survive. ... It's all in how vigorously you do things to help a fetus survive at this point. Let's say you went into labor... and you delivered before we got to the termination part of the procedure here, you know? Then we would do things -- we would -- we would not help it."
The practice of "after-birth abortions" is likely more widespread than most of us realized.
One of the left's biggest lies is that it stands for compassion. Where does after-birth abortion fit into anyone's idea of compassion? While most Americans rightly recoil in horror, too few realize that this is a legacy of Roe v. Wade.
Some conservatives complain that our movement is perceived as "uncaring." Yet they are the very same people who suggest we stop talking about issues like the sanctity of life.
Conservatives Seek To Limit Government Ammo Purchases
There has been a lot of chatter lately about why in the world the Obama Administration has been purchasing huge amounts of ammunition. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) and Rep. Frank Lucas (R-OK) think they know why, and they aren't happy about it.
They believe the Obama Administration is buying vast amounts of ammunition in an attempt to limit the Second Amendment rights of U.S. citizens. What good is a gun you are constitutionally entitled to if you can't buy bullets for it?
Sen. Inhofe and Rep. Lucas are introducing legislation to limit the government's ability to buy ammunition. According to The Hill, their legislation "would prohibit every government agency -- except the military -- from buying more ammunition each month, than the monthly average it purchased from 2001 to 2009."
In addition, the Government Accountability Office is launching its own investigation into the government's stockpiling of ammunition.
Gun owners and hunters may cheer the efforts of Sen. Inhofe and Rep. Lucas but, with Harry Reid in control of the Senate and Barack Obama holding his veto pen, it is hard to see how their legislation becomes law. But the attention the issue is drawing, the pressure of this legislation and the GAO investigation may hasten the time when the administration's obfuscation about its purchases comes to an end.

Exclusive - Sessions: Immigration Bill Gives Amnestied Residents 'Immediate' Access to Welfare
The immigration bill introduced to the Senate a week and a half ago would, if passed, allow illegal immigrants to access state and local welfare benefits immediately, Breitbart News has learned. The financial impact of allowing potentially millions of immigrants onto state and local public assistance could overwhelm these programs' budgets.
Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) uncovered this loophole in the bill and many others, and he will circulate a memo detailing the gaps in the bill on Tuesday. Breitbart News exclusively obtained a copy of the memo before its public release.

In case you have been vacationing in Outer Mongolia, let me be the first to inform you that NBA player Jason Collins has disclosed his sexual orientation - gay. I have no interest in the sexual orientation of Collins or anyone else, and I doubt you do either.
At the same time, it is easy to imagine that Collins has had a rough time of it in "the closet". So if "coming out" helps him and/or similarly situated professional athletes, then great.
The disclosure may raise a conundrum next season, though. Collins has very little to offer on the basketball court these days. This season, at age 34, he held down the final roster spot on a poor basketball team - my Washington Wizards. For the season, he averaged 1 point and 1.5 rebounds per game. His shooting percentage was an awful .310.
Old players with numbers like that very seldom make an NBA team the following year. In the normal course of things, Collins' professional career would almost certainly be over.
But the NBA, or one or more particular team, may want Collins to remain in the League as a testament to its tolerance. Thus, his "coming out" conceivably could prolong his career.
If so, the temptation may be to applaud the NBA. But favoring a player because he is gay is just as wrong as disfavoring him for that reason. And if Collins occupies a roster next year, it probably will be at the expense of another player (although unlike in the NFL and Major League Baseball, NBA teams have some flexibility in the number of players they carry - the maximum is 15, but I believe teams can have as few as 12).
Roster decisions are highly subjective, so if Collins makes a team next year, we won't know for sure whether he did so on pure merit (I assume no owner or coach would admit favoring Collins due to his sexual orientation). But there will be plenty of speculation on the subject.
If Collins tries to play and doesn't make a team next season, there will be little reason to suspect discrimination, given his performance this season. But that doesn't mean that no one will infer it.
It's not enough that Washington Republicans seem bent on signing onto any immigration deal that supposedly helps them with their "image" problem, but why do so many of them want to bash one of Obama's better ideas in his budget: privatizing the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)? Let's see: Barry Goldwater was for this before it was cool, and Ronald Reagan broached the idea in 1981, and was beaten back. Now Obama has grabbed hold of it. Start selling federal assets, and pretty soon the deficit might start to come down.
It is understandable that Tennessee senators Corker and Alexander would oppose the idea for the usual home team reasons, but why aren't other Republicans jumping on board and upping the ante? (Probably for the usual deference/log-rolling reasons; they'll want Corker and Alexander to support their home state pet projects down the line.) I recommend that Republicans suggest adding the Bonneville Power Administration in the Pacific Northwest, and watch the Democratic senators from Oregon and Washington object. That's probably why Obama didn't include Bonneville along with TVA. Memo to GOP: Go big with this idea.
The political irony is delicious: A Democrat plays against ideological type, at the short-term expense of red states that didn't vote for him anyway; ostensibly free-market Republicans scramble to explain why this particular behemoth should stay in Uncle Sam's portfolio. . . It's worse than hypocritical for Republicans to stand in the way.
"The odd thing is that a bunch of Rs are defending the most liberal, collectivist, state-managed thing ever undertaken in the United States," said [Mike] McKenna, [a Republican energy lobbyist] whose clients include the Atlanta-based utility Southern Co. (NSC) that could benefit from a sale of the TVA, in an e-mail. "TVA was the brainchild of the near-communists in the Roosevelt administration.
McKenna's got a point. The TVA's old logo is perfect New Deal beaux arts fascist:
Liberals will never tire of calling conservatives racist, because it's always a show-stopper, a way of cutting off further debate on any issue where a liberal is likely to lose. So don't expect it to go away any time soon. (Though why Republicans aren't better at "punching back twice as hard," e.g., by pointing out the permanent racist legacy of the Democratic Party, noting the vote tally for the 1964 Civil Rights Act, etc., is beyond me. Another example of Republican rhetorical incompetence.)
Gerard Alexander began a thorough debunking of this theme in the Claremont Review of Books several years ago ("The Myth of the Racist Republicans"), and Sean Trende continues the job with a fine column today on RealClearPolitics, "Southern Whites' Shift to GOP Predates the '60s." It's worth reading the whole thing, but here's a few highlights:
In truth, the white South began breaking away from the Democrats in the 1920s, as population centers began to develop in what was being called the "New South" . . .
But the big breakthrough, to the extent that there was one, came in 1952. Dwight Eisenhower won 48 percent of the vote there, compared to Adlai Stevenson's 52 percent. He carried most of the "peripheral South" - Virginia, Tennessee, Texas and Florida - and made inroads in the "Deep South," almost carrying South Carolina and losing North Carolina and Louisiana by single digits.
Even in what we might call the "Deepest South" - Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi - Eisenhower kept Stevenson under 70 percent, which might not seem like much until you realize that Tom Dewey got 18 percent in Georgia against FDR in 1944, and that this had been an improvement over Herbert Hoover's 8 percent in 1932.
In 1956, Eisenhower became the first Republican since Reconstruction to win a plurality of the vote in the South, 49.8 percent to 48.9 percent. He once again carried the peripheral South, but also took Louisiana with 53 percent of the vote. He won nearly 40 percent of the vote in Alabama. This is all the more jarring when you realize that the Brown v. Board decision was handed down in the interim, that the administration had appointed the chief justice who wrote the decision, and that the administration had opposed the school board.
Nor can we simply write this off to Eisenhower's celebrity. The GOP was slowly improving its showings at the congressional level as well. It won a special election to a House seat in west Texas in 1950, and began winning urban congressional districts in Texas, North Carolina, Florida and Virginia with regularity beginning in 1952.
It's worth going back and re-reading Alexander's dissection of the academic scholarship on this subject, and especially the conclusion:
The point of all this is not to deny that Richard Nixon may have invited some nasty fellows into his political bed. The point is that the GOP finally became the region's dominant party in the least racist phase of the South's entire history, and it got that way by attracting most of its votes from the region's growing and confident communities-not its declining and fearful ones. The myth's shrillest proponents are as reluctant to admit this as they are to concede that most Republicans genuinely believe that a color-blind society lies down the road of individual choice and dynamic change, not down the road of state regulation and unequal treatment before the law. The truly tenacious prejudices here are the mythmakers'.
P.S. While we're on this subject, have a look at Kevin Williamson's "Desegregation Before Brown" over at NRO, which helps correct that badly broker record about Barry Goldwater.
Victor Davis Hanson borrows the concept of the Borg from Star Trek ("the fictional alien race that appears as recurring antagonists in various incarnations") to capture the Obama administration's groupthink reformulating the war on terror. The Obama Borg, as Hanson dubs it, dissociate Islam from terrorism. The denial has reached absurd proportions with results that would be laughable if they weren't so serious and pathetic.
We are all familiar with the cases of Obama Borg members Janet Napolitano, John Brennan, James Clapper, Eric Holder, George Casey, and Charles Bolden. Hanson mentions all but Holder, whose case receives attention in Daniel Pipes's essay "Denying Islam's role in terrorism: Explaining the denial." Pipes demonstrates that the phenomenon of denial predates Obama, but it has risen to the status of official doctrine in the Obama administration.
The Obama Borg have now claimed another victim in the person of Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley. Colonel Dooley is an officer decorated for valor in Iraq and the subject of glowing evaluations.Colonel Dooley has been passed over for a combat battalion command, likely heralding the end of his promising Army career. What is his offense?
Colonel Dooley's offense was to have taught the dangers of radical Islam in a course at the Joint Forces Staff College. As told by Rowan Scarborough, the case of Colonel Dooley presents as an appalling study in the wages of the Obama Borg.
Wesley Pruden takes up the case of Colonel Dooley in "How to intimidate a paperclip general." Pruden directs his ire to "the paperclip generals," but this fish is rotting from the head.
Babies drowned alive in TOXIC LIQUID
This is NOT the horror-filled case of abortionist Kermit Gosnell.
But it appears astonishingly evil acts are taking place at OTHER abortion clinics across America.
Here's what the mainstream media don't like to tell you.
We all know what Conservatives are against: unlimited government, unaccountable bureaucracy, and unrestrained spending. But what are we for? In a recent address at Heritage, Senator Mike Lee articulated a vision of conservatism dedicated to equality, diversity, and sustainability. Yes, you read that right. Now find out what he means.
Heritage annually presents the Salvatori Prize in American Citizenship to an American individual or organization for advancing the principles and virtues of the nation's Founders. Recent winners include religious freedom champion Kevin J. "Seamus" Hasson, historian David McCullough, and Princeton University professor Robert P. George.
The 2013 prize goes to an organization committed to restoring the principles of the American Founding to their rightful, preeminent authority in our national life.
The welfare state has interrupted the organic bonds of family in ways too numerous to count. But the welfare state is going broke. Could the failure of the cradle-to-grave statism reinvigorate the cradle-to-grave family?

Camp, Baucus: Tax Reform '13?
As Sen.Max Baucus (D-MT) is set to retire in 2014, and Rep. Dave Camp (R- MI) perhaps facing a transition in the same timeframe, these two key chairmen have prioritized tax reform - likely to play into the coming debt limit debate. To improve economic growth and security, here are dos and don'ts for reforming America's tax code.
Immigration Reform About Opportunity, Not Debt Before lawmakers proceed with "comprehensive" immigration reform, it is critical for them to understand the costs to taxpayers of an amnesty that qualifies millions of unauthorized immigrants for federal benefits.
In 2012, Washington collected $2.4 trillion in taxes - more than $20,000 for every American household. Yet Washington actually spent $3.5 trillion, or nearly $30,000 per household... adding $1.1 trillionto the debt just this year.
PERCENTAGE OF ANNUAL SPENDING (2012)
*Includes federal employee retirement and disability, unemployment compensation, food and housing assistance, other income security programs.
Your Senators are home for recess. We need you to tell them to say NO to the Gang of 8's Amnesty bill!
This group of 8 out-of-touch Amnesty-advocating Senators claim that America is facing a "labor shortage," but as the 20 million unemployed Americans can tell you, the real problem facing our economy is a jobs shortage.
The least-educated Americans are suffering worst of all. A recent study from the Center for Immigration Studies notes that unemployment is close to 20% nationwide for Americans with no more than a high school education. Interestingly, the states represented by Senators who are part of the "Gang of 8" coalition working on an Amnesty bill (Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and South Carolina) have the highest levels of unemployment, all over 20%.
As Senator Jeff Sessions noted, low-income American's wages have been falling since 2000 and legalizing 11 million illegal immigrants now, with an estimated 33 million over the next ten years, will continue to pull down working Americans' standard of living.
Defending lower income workers, Senator Sessions declared:
"The public interest is to figure out how we can deal with the crisis we face, how we can have a lawful system that serves the national interest without hammering the average low-income worker, the African-American and Hispanic worker that's here. It's logical that if you bring in a massive supply of low-wage workers, you're going to pull the workers down.
Sessions went on to note that many of the low-income workers, whose wages will be lowered as a result of the amnesty bill, are immigrants who came to the country legally. Congress should be looking out for them!
Take Action
We need you to call and visit your Senators in their district offices while they are home, and tell them to protect American jobs and say NO to the Gang of 8!
Haven't we learned a lesson from ObamaCare that backroom deals, bad faith and political payoffs to special interests do not equal true reform - regardless of how nice a name legislators give a bill?
Tell your Senators that you demand real economic reform and that you expect them to say no to another 1,000-plus page bill that only benefits the parties writing it behind closed doors.

1. Continue calling your Senator to demand a town hall 2. Make an office visit and deliver our mind-blowing chart
Dear NumbersUSA Activists,
We asked you to call your Senators last week and demand town halls. Four Senators- including one Gang of 8 member and 3 potential swing votes- have scheduled town halls since we started calling.
Senators who have announced or held town halls since last Wednesday include:
Sen. John McCain of Arizona
Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshir e
Sen. Mark Begich of Alaska
Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia
In Arizona, NumbersUSA activists brought the heat to Senator McCain and were surprised by a guest visit from Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. Thank you, Arizona!!
The other town halls are happening this week. If you are interested in attending town halls, subscribe to our Local Meeting Alerts by clicking here.
Most of the American people - including many lawmakers - have not read S 744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act. NOW is the time for public discussions on what is really in the bill: broken promises, amnesty, and 33 million new immigrants allowed to live and work in the US after just 10 years.
CALL YOUR SENATOR TODAY, TOMORROW, AND THURSDAY: (202) 224-3121
Tell your Senator:
"I demand you hold a town hall to discuss the biggest immigration overhaul in nearly three decades years. We deserve to speak with our Senator and get answers on such a complex bill that will impact almost every aspect of American life. I will continue to call back everyday until a public and open discussion on S 744 is scheduled."
WANT TO SEND A STRONGER MESSAGE? VISIT YOUR SENATORS' LOCAL OFFICE AND DELIVER OUR MIND-BLOWINGCHART.
The chart shows how 33 million new immigrants would benefit from the bill in just the next 10 years. This massive amount of people would be allowed to live here and compete with 20 million Americans who want a full time job but cannot find one.
NumbersUSA is the only group that has come out with a number. Pro-amnesty groups are reluctant to release their estimates because they know the American people would not sign on to such a irresponsible policy. Read Roy's blog about the numbers here.
CALL (202) 224-3121 TO FIND THE CLOSEST SENATE OFFICE NEAR YOU.
***Appearing in-person at a Senate office makes 10 times more of an impact than calling.***
If you have a town hall meeting to report or want to schedule a personal meeting wi th a Senate staffer and need assistance, please email me here.
Thank you for your time and keep up the great work!
Their War, Not Ours By Patrick J. Buchanan If Barack Obama plunges into Syria's civil war, it could consume his presidency, even as Iraq consumed the presidency of George W. Bush. Why would Obama even consider this? Because he blundered badly. But before we slide into another war, let the country be consulted first.
Liberal Suffering and Confusion By Walter E. Williams The liberal world vision and reality are often at variance, for example, with equal pay for equal work. That's because iberals love political correctness that conceals information.
Glenn reacts to SHOCKING story of baby snatched from parent's arms
It's quite possibly the most shocking story Glenn has ever seen - armed officers and a Child Protective Services worker storm into a home and literally take a baby from the mother's arms and leave. It's all caught on video, and the officer can be heard saying, "I'm going to take your baby, don't resist" before leaving with the child. Glenn's reacts to the story on radio today.
Irony? Van Jones arrested while protesting for coal miners' benefits
President Obama's former advisor and green jobs czar Van Jones was arrested yesterday outside of a federal courthouse in St. Louis, Missouri during a protest against "Big Coal." There is obvious irony in the fact that Van Jones was arrested for protesting in support of the very same miners his green energy campaigns have sought to put out of business. So why did he "volunteer" to be arrested? WATCH

Unanswered Questions on Boston Marathon bombing
The investigations into the Boston Marathon bombing have taken some interesting turns.
