Boston bombing suspect ordered deported after Obama meets with Saudi minister
The Saudi National, Abdul al-Harbi, who has been questioned after the Boston Marathonbombing, is being immediately deported on"national security grounds."
He is from a very powerful Saudi family with many terrorist ties. Abdul al-Harbi is a devout Muslim from Medina.
I said it takes longer than 15 hours to investigate all of Abdul al-Harbi's relatives, friends, acquaintances, and business and school friends.
Perhaps a quick look at the Arabic sources should raise the eyebrows of every American relative to the extent of the problem at hand. Many from Al-Harbi's clan are steeped in terrorism and are members of Al-Qaeda. Out of a list of 85 terrorists listed by the Saudi government shows several of Al-Harbi clan to have been active fighters in Al-Qaeda:
When I heard he was from a very powerful Saudi family, I worried about this kind of thing happening.
EXCLUSIVE: SAUDI NATIONAL ONCE CONSIDERED 'PERSON OF INTEREST' MAY BE DEPORTED ON 'SECURITY' GROUNDS - AND HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE FRAMED
Apr. 18, 2013 12:30amJason Howerton
TheBlaze's Jonathon M. Seidl contributed to this report.
Key points:
On Sean Hannity's Fox News program Wednesday night, terror expert Steve Emerson cited sources saying Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, the Saudi national who was briefly named a "person of interest" in the Boston Marathon bombings, is being deported on Tuesday.
Thursday morning, Glenn Beck revealed on radio that TheBlaze was informed by sources that the Saudi national's visa had been revoked and he was, in fact, going to be deported on "security and related grounds."
Among other things, sources told TheBlaze that the Saudi national had ties to a well-connected Saudi family and that his deportation was set to be framed as a "voluntary" departure to be with his family.
A file, called an "event," was started on him three days ago.
While discussing the issue on radio, TheBlaze's Chief Content Officer Joel Cheatwood revealed that the government is now considering not deporting Ali Alharbi.
During his Thursday visit to Boston to attend an interfaith memorial service in honor of the victims of the April 1th twin marathon bombing, President Barack Obama said "we will find you," addressing whomever committed the crime.
Now investigators have released the video and images of the suspects in the bombing that occurred in the afternoon near the race finish line, killing three and injuring more than 170 people.
At a press conference after 5:20 p.m. EST Thursday, FBI Special Agent Richard DesLauriers, who is leading the investigation, revealed the video and photos of the two men believed to be suspects.
See the photos and watch the surveillance video HERE.
Police are locking down neighborhoods in Boston and its suburbs and all mass transit has been shut down as authorities announce one of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing is dead and a massive manhunt is underway for the other, pictured. The men also allegedly killed a MIT police officer, and injured another officer.

We need 25 more people for the bus trip next Tuesday to Harrisburg!
Your involvement and support of Concerned Gun Owners of Bucks County has made an impact both statewide and nationally. Last week we were interviewed on a nationally syndicated NPR talk show and also appeared on Channel 3 Eyewitness News.
The word is out - we are the ONLY Pennsylvania group that is focused exclusively on the Second Amendment. Nest Tuesday is our first chance to show our presence statewide at the Second Amendment Action Day sponsored by Daryl Metcalfe. We will also see Daryl a week later where is our featured speaker at our April 30th meeting at the Warminster VFW.
To make the bus trip possible so that we have a presence,we need an additional 25 people to sign up by Friday at the latest.
At the rally we will show support for Metcalf's HB 357 bill and visit key legislatures to introduce ourselves to them as the only 2nd Amendment organization in PA. We have drawn our line in the sand and refuse to give an inch in protecting the Second Amendment. The most impactful action that we can take to get politician's attention is to show a physical presence. If you are able to come, please make the trip. We will provide drinks and T-Shirts. The bus leaves promptly at 7am from the Library in Doylestown and will leave Harrisburg by 2pm. Please mail your check for $50 to arrive by Fridayto:

As you well know, the Independence Hall Tea Party Association rarely sends out appeals to raise money for itself.
We are very sensitive to the fact that you are inundated with requests for funds from countless conservative organizations and tea party groups.
There is, however, one major difference between our organization and many others. We are an all volunteer Association. We have no six or seven-figure salaried positions. We have no salaried positions at all.
Our only goal is to effectively serve our nation with the hope of returning it to greatness.
Of course, you are the ultimate judge of whether or not we are effective.
If you think there is value in our work, we hope you'll send a contribution.
As we stated on Monday, our goal is to raise $5000.
This will help us close a small debt and plan for our 5th Annual Independence Day Celebration. The 2013 theme is "Preserving America's Heritage!"
We are grateful for contributions large and small. If each member or friend sent just
$5, we would surpass our goal many times over.
As an extra incentive:
* Those giving a $25 donation will receive an Independence Hall Tea Party
t-shirt as our thank you.
* Those giving a $50 donation will receive an Independence Hall Tea Party
golf shirt as our thank you.
* Those giving a $100 donation will receive an Independence Hall Tea Party
golf shirt and a signed copy of Amity Shlaes book, Coolidge.
Those of you who were listening Dom Giordano, yesterday, hopefully caught his interview with the charming Amity Shlaes (below), author of Coolidge and The Forgotten Man, and the scheduled keynote speaker of our 5th Annual April T.E.A. Party.
Dom will be making his 5th consecutive appearance at this traditional April event. He will speak and moderate the Q & A Session with Ms. Shlaes.
Also joining us--the magnificent 286 Band! They were with us at our very first April T.E.A. Party in 2009.
This year's event will be held Sunday, April 28, 3-5 PM, in the Ballroom of the
Independence Visitor Center. Further exciting details will soon be announced. Please save the date!
We hope to see you soon!
On behalf of the Association Board,
Teri Adams

Its mission is to educate the general public regarding the principles of limited government as enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution. (Visit us @ www.IndependenceHallTeaParty.com.)
We are so blessed that over the last four years thousands of churches in over 60 countries have stood in solidarity with Israel through CUFI Sunday. From the largest cities to the smallest towns, from mega churches in the American heartland to underground churches in China, Christians have come together to express their love and support for Israel.
We pray that your church will participate in the fifth annual CUFI Sunday on May 5, 2013. CUFI will provide you with all the materials you need to implement a successful CUFI Sunday, including videos, literature and Pastor John Hagee's personal sermon notes for your use.
Please click hereto participate in CUFI Sunday. As you'll see, you don't have to be a pastor to ensure that your church stands with Israel on CUFI Sunday.
The date we've chosen for CUFI Sunday -- May 5th -- is close to Israeli Independence Day. As the Jewish State celebrates her 65th birthday, there is no better present we can send than the news of thousands of churches standing in solidarity with her!
We look forward to uniting in action and prayer on behalf of Israel with you and your congregation on May 5, 2013.
May God Bless You and Those that You Love,

Brigitte Gabriel to Speak
in Baltimore, MD!
Brigitte Gabriel
Leading Global Islamic Terrorism Expert
CLICK HERE to view Brigitte's special video invitation!
It is my privilege to invite you to a special event featuring Brigitte Gabriel, Founder and President of ACT! for America. This event is free and open to the public and will be held at the following:
Central Christian
7411 Rossville Blvd. Baltimore, MD 21237
Monday, May 6th at 7 pm
Ms. Gabriel will speak on the rise of Islamic radicalism in your community and in our nation. Her story of survival as a persecuted Christian living in a bomb shelter for 7 years will have you captivated and inspired! She will share how the events of 9/11 compelled her to start ACT! for America, the largest national security grassroots organization in the U.S.
The recent assaults at our embassies have been a sobering wake-up call to America. The lesson is that we should be displaying strength to our enemies, not appeasement which only demonstrates our weakness. Without question, the threats of radical Islam to America have increased.
These are just some of the threats Brigitte will discuss:
Suppression of criticism of Islam
Homegrown jihad
Terrorists infiltrating our borders
The Muslim Brotherhood and creeping sharia law in America
Misrepresentation of history in our public education
You will hear first-hand how ACT! for America is successfully rolling back the tide of radical Islam...how we are winning legislative victories...how we don't have to live in fear or resign ourselves to the inevitability of the threats arrayed against us...and how we will prevail.
I encourage you to forward this email to everyone you know. For those who are not familiar with ACT! for America, please share this short video with them.
I know those of you who have heard Brigitte will agree, not only do you not want to miss this, but you will want to bring your relatives and friends with you. It will be an event people will be talking about for a long time to come!
Invite your friends and come join us in Baltimore, MD! We look forward to seeing you on May 6th

June 19 - 21 we will convene at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC for our fourth annual National Conference & Legislative Briefing.
And here's some really great news: This year's registration fee is only $229! Register by April 15th and you'll receive our "Early Bird" rate of just $189!
We also offer again this year special benefits for Patriot Eagle and Patriot sponsors.
We have some exciting new wrinkles planned for this year's event, and our list of confirmed speakers already includes:
Steven Emerson - Journalist, author, and the Executive Editor of the Investigative Project on Terrorism. A. M. Rosenthal, late-managing editor of The New York Times, described Emerson as "one of the nation's best national security correspondents."
John Guandolo - Former FBI agent and one of America's leading authorities on the Muslim Brotherhood and its inner workings in America. Guandolo spoke at our conference in 2011 and received rave reviews from conference attendees!
Ezra Levant - Canadian lawyer, author, newspaper columnist with Sun Media, and former publisher of the Western Standard. Hauled before a Canadian "human rights commission" because he published the Danish cartoons that satirized Muhammad, Levant's personal account of a politically correct government inquisition is something you won't want to miss!
The National Conference & Legislative Briefing will begin on Wed. evening, June 19th, and conclude on Friday, June 21st at noon, with additional optional training sessions Friday afternoon.
It will again feature our very popular Capitol Hill Awards Luncheon and our signature gala banquet-and of course, our Legislative Briefing, where Members of Congress will brief you on various issues and answer your questions.
So make your plans now to join us in our nation's capital for what promises to be our best National Conference & Legislative Briefing ever!
More details to come!
As Israelis celebrate their 65th Independence Day this year, we should all take time out to reflect on the miracle of Israel's independence. We must also ask ourselves the question, "What can I do to ensure that this miracle of Israel survives and thrives?"
We announced earlier this week that we'll be headed to New Orleans the first weekend in August for this year's RedState Gathering. As a member of our RedState family, we'd like to extend exclusive Early Bird registration and pricing to you (just use the promo code EARLYBIRD on the registration page).
The 2013 RedState Gathering will be held August 2-3 at the Westin Canal Place in New Orleans, LA. We'll have two full days of speakers and activities and you can expect a good mix of elected officials and potential candidates for the 2014 cycle (we'll keep you informed as additions are made).
The Gathering has always been a unique event, in that all speakers, even the most in-demand and influential, pay their own way and make their own travel arrangements. This helps keep our costs low, a savings we are happy to pass along to our conference attendees. Additionally, we strive to get you up close to the speakers, ask them to take your questions, and we take care of nearly all your meals during the conference. Bottom line: fewer frills, more thrills and access.
We are thrilled to once again be joined by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who will be hosting a reception for all attendees and appear at the Gathering podium as a keynote speaker. A huge hit in 2012, we're looking forward to Gov. Jindal playing an even larger role this year as he welcomes us to his home state.
Now, more than ever, true conservative activists must come together to exchange ideas and strategize for the future. That's what this year's Gathering is all about. We hope you'll join us.
P.S. Don't delay! You'll receive 20% off if you register today - just use the promo code EARLYBIRD. Click here.
From a trusted friend:
As some of you may know, I am associated with Coventry Christian Schools as a parent of a graduate (2010) and as member of the Board of Trustees. Last October we spent a wonderful evening honoring Mark Niehls at our revitalized Founder's Dinner and celebrated our shared heritage in the remarkable community that is Coventry Christian Schools. Our vision for future Founder's Dinners is to inspire and inform not only our alumni and current CCS families but to inspire and inform the Tri-County Area and even our region by hosting speakers and artists who can uniquely assist us in celebrating the heritage, core values, and mission of CCS while also lifting our vision for an even greater future built upon the foundation of our past. The caliber of our speakers and guest artists should provide us with wonderful opportunities to share our CCS story with new partners in Christian education. Proceeds from the dinner will be applied to our annual Coventry Kids Fund for CCS scholarships.
This year we are proud to announce that our distinguished guest and speaker is Dr. Benjamin Carson, and our dinner's theme is "Faith of Our Fathers: The Role of Faith in American Schools." Please join us as we welcome Dr. Carson to the Tri-County Area and celebrate the great things God is doing at CCS!
Dr. Carson is a highly regarded neurosurgeon and motivational speaker who has addressed various audiences across the country. He is one of the most honored and recognized physicians in the world and holds more than 60 honorary doctorate degrees along with hundreds of awards and citations. He is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States. He is the author of five books and is the founder of the Carson Scholars Fund. The 2009 award-winning movie entitled Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. as Carson, premiered on TNT and is based on his memoir. Dr. Carson is an authentic disciple of Christ, has been married to his wife Candy for more than 37 years, and is the father of three sons.
The 2013 Founder's Dinner, which will once again be a part of our Homecoming festivities, will be held at the historic Sunnybrook Ballroom in Pottstown on Sunday, October 13th, 2013. Doors will open at 4:30pm, followed by dinner at 5:15. Dress will be business/professional. Tickets will be priced at $100 until May 15th, then will be $125, so reserve your tickets for the reduced price.
Due to Dr. Carson's international reputation and recent prominence in the media, including his recent speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast, we fully anticipate that this event will sell out quickly once advertised to the public. Tickets go on sale to the public April 15. If you are interested in attending, tickets can be purchased online. I will send the link out to those who wish to go on April 15
th
. While online reservations are preferred because they facilitate efficient event planning, you may also complete a paper order form, which I can forward to you as well.
All of us at Coventry Christian Schools, look forward to sharing this very special evening with you and acquainting you with the school and its mission!
Blessings,
Christine Gordon

Heritage Foundation weighs in on Common Core
By Rachel Sheffield April 11, 2013: Policy Analyst, The Heritage Foundation (courtesy of Citizens' Alliance of Pennsylvania)This coming school year, Pennsylvania public schools will begin implementing the Common Core education standards. Like many other states, Common Core standards are quickly making their way into the classroom. While proponents of the standards continue to champion their predicted benefits, there is significant cause for concern.First, the standards represent a massive federal overreach. The Obama Administration jumped on board from the get go, promoting national education standards, via policy and federal taxpayer dollars, as part of their education agenda. Billions of federal dollars have gone towards and are continuing to fund, the promotion and implementation of these standards nationwide. The federal government's involvement with the standards should be alarming. Pushing state and local leaders away from classroom curriculum is not only a breach in federalism but gives parents, teachers, and communities less say over what children learn in school. Education experts have also raised alarm over the quality of the standards. Sandra Stotsky, Professor of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas, has particularly expressed concern over the English Language Arts. Common Core's ELA standards reduce emphasis on literature by promoting the study of "informational texts." Stotsky says
, "A diminished emphasis on literature in the secondary grades makes it unlikely that American students will study a meaningful range of culturally and historically significant literary works before graduation. It also prevents students from acquiring a rich understanding and use of the English language. Perhaps of greatest concern, it may lead to a decreased capacity for analytical thinking."
Common Core goes SOCIAL MEDIA!!! Please share with everyone you know and help us make this a huge success. MARK YOUR CALENDAR!!! Not a TWITTER person.....grab a kid and have some fun.
Parent-Led Reform (@ParentLedReform) will host a Twitter Rally on April 16, 2013 which will start will go from 12:00p-2:00p (EST). We will discuss how the Common Core State Standards effect your family, community and schools? We invite you to participate.
There will be an expert panel and several organizations that will discuss#StopCommonCore. So far I know the panel will consist of:
I'll update with a live link for the Twitter Rally (or you can just follow the hashtag #StopCommonCore) and as the expert panel is finalized.
Update: Be sure to RSVP with the Facebook event invite, this will help keep you up to date with pertinent info.
The whole story on Common Core
Read the sourced and footnoted response to the National Review Online and get all the facts you need to know about Common Core HERE. Compiled by American Principles project and Glenn's research team.
Common Core is the new set of federal education standards being pushed by the Obama administration and several leftist organizations but it's even seeing some support from some conservatives.
defending Common Core, and Glenn gave the definitive response on radio today."Common Core is something that we didn't really get for quite some time and again it's something we've learned from the 9/12 project and concerned parents all around the country that have been bringing this to our attention. When we started in on this work, we thought it was pretty bad. The more we do, the worse it becomes," Glenn said.
Below are some of the points made by the National Review Online in defense of Common Core, followed by Glenn's response.
Today on radio, Glenn gave the definitive response. See that and get all the sources to back it up HERE.
Students in some Albany High School English classes were asked to participate in the unthinkable this week as part of a persuasive writing assignment. The objective? Prove why Jews are evil and convince the teacher of their loyalty to the Third Reich in five paragraphs or less. See the actual lessonHERE.
A concerned parent tipped off TheBlaze to the disturbing fact that NY public schools are teaching the U.N.'s Socialist-leaning Universal Human Rights. We also discovered that the schools are delivering this indoctrination using videos made by the Church of Scientology. Learn what our investigation revealedHERE.
TheBlaze has been at the forefront in uncovering the disturbing details of the nationalized curriculum standard known as Common Core. One of the most troubling aspects of this federal program is that government bureaucrats are currently mining sensitive and highly personal information on children through Common Core's tracking system. Watch the powerful segments from The Glenn Beck Program HERE.
Pennsylvanians Against Common Core Facebook page has nearly 450 "friends" which is 8 times that of the pro-Core Facebook page!
Pennsylvanians Against Common Core website has had incredible traffic
We have been contacted by email by many interested parties looking for help and materials in getting the word out and in fighting Common Core. Below are some items that should be of interest to you:
Speakers - Cheryl Boise of the Commonwealth Education Organization will be coordinating speakers that can be available to speak to groups around the state on the subject. You can contact her at: ceb@ceopa.org
Flyers - We have designed an informative flyer for handout at school board meetings, political events and to your friends that should be ready in 10 days. We have ordered 10,000 of these flyers and can mail them out to you upon request when received (be patient). Attached is a one page flyer for your use now that you can print out for distribution.
Suggestion on Curriculum - Many people are telling us that their legislators are arguing that Common Core does NOT control curriculum it only sets standards. We will shortly have a piece debunking that, but in order to not to get lost in a hopeless argument you may just want to call them "national standards" when writing letters to the editor or communicating with your legislator rather than stating that Common Core determines curriculum.
Rallies - Stay tuned, they will be coming at the appropriate time...
State Board of Education Meetings - Please be advised that the PA State Board of Education did hold meetings that technically were open to the public to discuss Common Core prior to voting to enact CCS, but were not well publicized and in some cases were held in buildings with restricted access.
Petition and Passion - the comments that are posted by petition signatories tell a great story of the passion generated by this usurpation of our local and states rights.
Gennell from Reading says: Our family stands firmly against Common Core. Please be advised that our votes WILL depend on your vote against this education standard that would destroy education as we know it.
Amanda from Montgomery County says: Stop this NOW!
Deborah from Dauphin County says: "Stop Common Core and let the local authorities and the PARENTS decide how to educate their children. This is morally wrong."
Susan from Mount Holly Springs says: "Governor Corbett, We do not need Common Core in our schools. Please leave the education of my children alone. "
Michael from Pittsburgh says: "This is an absolute outrage and a violation of our parental rights and state sovereignty."
John from Erie says: "Common Core secondary math education is substandard. Classical literature is being left out in a mad attempt to teach to the test."
Action items:
Contact Secretary of Education Ronald Tomalis at rtomalis@pa.gov and 717-783-6788 and ask him reconsider advancement of Common Core and to hold open well publicized meetings to discuss. Contact your legislator in the PA House and Senate Education Committees and ask them to hold hearings on CCS and to oppose. Please pass on the links to our website and Facebook page to all of your contacts Print and pass out our one page flyer to friends and at meetings. in your area
What information is being collected on your kids through Common Core?
TheBlaze TV subscribers can watch past episodes covering Common Core and CSCOPE. The March 14th episode focused on Common Core and the March 7th episode focused on CSCOPE. Not a subscriber? Sign up HERE.
Glenn has spent a lot of time over the past few weeks exposing some of the education initiatives in states across the country that are indoctrinating kids into the radical progressive agenda. Today, Glenn discussed an issue tied into Common Core that many people aren't aware of: data mining.
"We cover many important stories and topics on this program, but I don't think any could be more important than what we are covering tonight: the progressive takeover of America's schools,"
OK....when they look at you like you have a tin foil hat on your head......take some of this information with you. It is 126 pages. I have not read through the entire document (YET) but what I have read is enough to blow off the top of your head. I have highlighted some stuff. KIPP (Charter Schools) has a CHARACTER REPORT CARD on Page 39. So for now start on page 39 and work your way through to page 45. Remember FERPA laws were changed last year and I am sure not one parent is aware that permission to share information about our children no longer requires parental consent. Obama just slipped all these new changes in and I don't believe any parents were ever asked their opinions about these changes. And where was our Republican Congress when this happened???
AGENDA 21 is: The complete control and inventory of every human activity. After your friends read some of this information ask them if they still believe A21 is not real. Chapter 36 of A21 document is devoted to education.
Our government forgets there are still people alive that can think and see through their garbage.
Print this document and get a highlighter...........then start visiting your neighbors, school boards, elected officials and start screaming. GET COMMON CORE AND THE GOVERNMENT out of our class rooms. I think it is time to start a MASS movement for Home Schooling. I know Home Schooling will not be spared. This should be a movement to bring education back to the local level and DESTROY the Federal Department of Education. If our kids are not in school it will create an uprising at all levels. We should not settle for shutting down Common Core because they will masquerade it....they are already doing this in VA. VA supposedly never signed on to Common Core but GUESS WHAT........they ARE implementing Common Core and disguising it from the citizens in VA....of course they aren't doing a good job of hiding it and people in VA are catching on. Our schools have been in the process of a government take over (in earnest) for more than 20 years. If we don't shut down the Department of Education it will never stop. We have to cause a citizen uprising!!
Here is the U.S. Department of Education - Office of Educational Technology document:
"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests"- Patrick Henry
To fix "THE SYSYEM" We must become "THE SYSTEM" - k. bracken "The change we seek has always required great struggle and great sacrifice." - Barack Hussein Obama "The man who speaks to you of sacrifice, speaks of slaves and masters. And intends to be the master." - Ayn Rand
Glenn: Help us get in millions of home
Why should you support the "Get TheBlaze" movement to get TheBlaze in millions of homes across the country? For starters, how about a network that will cancel out the damage Al-Jazeera will be doing in America as it replaces Current in your lineup? Check out Glenn's "why" in this exclusive letter HERE.
Ready to take action? Click here to contact your TV provider and urge them to add TheBlaze.

If you get someone knocking on your door asking if you want to save money on your heat/ac, do not say yes or they'll put a clip on your unit that will limit your usage of air conditioning. The fan will work, but your usage will be CONTROLLED.
IF you get a new wall mount (thermostat & it may be required w/ a new ac unit because of the wiring) for your AC DO NOT GET ONE WITH A GPS in it........there is a cheaper model that has no GPS........ask questions BEFORE you start or consider any changes!!!!!!!!
Important Announcement from SFL
Across America, state and local officials are writing bills and resolutions to protect citizen's from Agenda 21's policies. Because many people do not recognize Agenda 21 in action, property owners still remain at risk.
To help officials recognize Agenda 21's footprint, SFL created a document in a Q&A format that answers:
How do I know Agenda 21 exists in the U.S.?
What does Agenda 21 have to do with sustainable development?
What is wrong with the Brundtland Commission's definition of sustainable development?
How do I know the UN's sustainable development is the same one in our community?
I thought sustainable development is good, what makes you think it is so bad?
How can something like this happen in America?
How will I recognize Agenda 21?
The document has a lot more information for community members and officials, including a brief history of Agenda 21 and actions to take to have safe planning without top-down intervention.
Grants issued in conjunction with government 'sustainability initiatives' contain stipulations or implementation practices that are the primary doorway for Agenda 21/sustainable development to enter your community. These stipulations often require no growth boundaries, income integration through low-income housing demands, reduced vehicle usage, healthy cities, livability principles and other forms of social engineering.
Other grants issued by non-profit groups such as the Packard, Pew or Carnegie Foundations, frequently promote Agenda 21. Often this happens when HUD or some other federal agency funds the foundation with the money they in turn offer as a sustainability-related grant.
Non-governmental organizations:
Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) including ICLEI, the Nature Conservancy, American Farmland Trust and the American Planning Association have close ties to HUD-EPA-DOT sustainability initiatives and promote Agenda 21 through their regional and community work, conservation easements and funding.
Federal agencies:
Federal agency Acts including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and Endangered Species Act have so expanded, that individual's rights are losing way to unfounded and often exaggerated endangerment findings. The solutions to their findings invariably require fines, taxes, property rights' infringements or the outright transfer of private lands to the government.
Preservation programs, National Parks, Historic Places and Byways, Heritage Sites and Legacy Forest programs have exceeded prudent land and species' protection and are now confiscating massive quantities of the U.S. land mass in alignment with Agenda 21 principles.
The planning process:
Planners' surveys - contain unfair questions that do not express all of resident's options
Consensus meetings - are conducted in ways that elicit responses that support the planner's goals rather than genuine community desires
Visioning sessions- may be over-conducted to the point that the vision belongs to the facilitator and only appears to be that of the community.
Stakeholder meetings - can produce misleading results when the stakeholders do not represent the average community member. Frequently the "stakeholders" have a financial or ideological interest in implementing the plan.
Zoning regulations - originating with the American Planning Association (and others,) contains language that establishes the legal framework to implement Agenda 21 in communities. HUD, other federal agencies and firms such as Siemens funded the development of the APA's Growing Smart Legislative Guidebook, 2nd ed. These supporters all have a stake in Agenda 21's implementation.
Conservation easements - often contain undiscussed clauses that severely restrict property owners' rights, reduce property values and favor the land trust for future contract changes.
Regionalism:
Regional councils replace much of the local officials' authority with unelected boardmembers.
As the regional council matures, local rule diminishes, leaving citizens with more distant and reduced representation.
Once a region is formed, the ability to oppose sustainable development is limited.
Generally, when the regional council accepts grant monies, all tethered communities are bound by the grant stipulations.
Regional planning often includes tax base sharing which promotes wealth transfer by forcing community members to pay for services in other locations.
Regional planning often includes "no growth boundaries" that force housing into urban and inner ring suburban areas. This reduces homebuyers' choices and artificially inflates the value of some properties, while reducing it for others.
Awareness about Agenda 21 is finally spreading throughout the country, due in no small part to your efforts. But knowing it is there isn't enough. Now we need to educate ourselves on how to combat it. That's where you come in.
American Policy Center has recently released a booklet that explains everything you need to know to start fighting back against sustainable programs both locally and nationally. The booklet is called Special Report: Agenda 21 and How to Stop It and is available in the APC store for only $5.95.
I wrote this 35 page booklet in order to give activists a succinct resource they can refer to if they suspect Agenda 21 or Sustainable Development is being implemented in their area. It includes my own research coupled with incredibly helpful graphics created by Carroll County, Maryland Commissioner Richard Rothschild.
In the booklet you will find answers to several roadblocks that grassroots anti-Agenda 21 activists often face, including a definition of property rights and "Resolution to Protect Citizens' Property Rights," which many concerned citizens are already using to tie the hands of power hungry politicians.
This booklet is a great resource for anyone interested in preserving their property rights. It includes all the information to put up a first line of defense and step by step instructions for how to proceed from there. If you face Agenda 21 or Sustainable development in your area or are simply concerned with the national fight this booklet is a must read.
P.S. - The American Policy Center store has recently updated our inventory to include everything you need to fight back against Agenda 21. The revamped catalogue includes the "Stop Agenda 21 Action Kit", which provides users with everything they need to know about Agenda 21 in their own living room, as well as ways to share it with other concerned activists and critical knowledge on how to fight back. The store also offers DVDs of past successful conferences and symposiums, books and articles that deal with the issues of sustainability and Agenda 21 and individually packaged manuals and workbooks to aid you in your activism. You don't need to look any farther than the American Policy Center Store for everything you need to combat Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development in your area.
Yes, it's true: You can support ACT! for America-at no cost to you!An important message from Guy Rodgers, Executive Director
The next time you make an online purchase of almost anything, you could be helping ACT! for America-at no cost to you.
Sound too good to be true? It isn't.
All you have to do is sign up for "iGive"-a program that's been around since 1997.
The concept is as powerful as it is simple.
Every time an iGive member makes an online purchase at over 1,000 brand-name stores, a percentage of that purchase is donated to that person's charity of choice.
And with the holidays just around the corner, you could be helping ACT! for America with every gift you buy!
The concept isn't new. In the mid-1990s many supporters of non-profit organizations signed up with long distance telephone programs where a percentage of their bill was donated to their charity of choice.
But our investigation of iGive has convinced us that this program has an ease of use and sophistication that we find remarkable.
Imagine booking a hotel room on Orbitz-and having 1.6% of that purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
Or buying an Xbox at Best Buy-and having 1.2% of the purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
The same goes for buying merchandise at Amazon, Bath and Body Works, Advance Auto Parts, Game Stop, Kmart, Home Depot, Holiday Inn, Old Navy, NASCAR Superstore, Overstock.com, Mattel, J.C. Penney, Office Max, QVC, Radio Shack, Shoe Carnival, Pottery Barn-and on and on the list goes.
In other words, every time you make a purchase of merchandise you would buy anyway, you would be financially supporting ACT! for America!
All you have to do is log on below and follow the directions to create your account and download the iGive "button." (Note: downloading the "button" is key).
When I was first informed of iGive, I was skeptical. I've seen these ideas come and go. Often, they're too good to be true. Or there are all kinds of glitches and problems.
So I spent hours researching.
I looked at online customer reviews (which were very good). I read all of iGive's fine print, such as Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. I signed up and even emailed two tech support questions to see how good their tech support was.
And the more I dug, the more I liked what I saw. For instance, both of my tech support questions were responded to within 60 minutes. How often does THAT happen?
As you know from our Patriot Partner program, we're all about encouraging a lot of people to each do a little-to do something. When everyone does a little, together we accomplish a lot.
So consider what could happen.
If just 1% of ACT! for America members each purchased just $400 in merchandise in 2013, from all the available outlets, and the average percentage donated to ACT! was 1.5%, the total amount donated back to ACT! for America would be...
...$15,000. That's a lot of money, wouldn't you agree?
And if you were one of those ACT! for America members, it wouldn't cost you one thin dime to help ACT! for America receive $15,000.
If this idea really caught on, and eventually 5% of our members made purchases with iGive, that $15,000 could explode to $50,000, $75,000 or more!
What's more, that 1.5% figure might be low. Many of the merchants offer percentage donations that are much higher. One printer inkjet company I looked at offered 13%!
Every merchant website you visit tells you right at the top what percentage of your purchase price will be donated to ACT! for America.
Just think what we could accomplish with an extra $15,000, $50,000 or $75,000 in our fight against radical Islam!
One of the things I most wanted to know was their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Check it out for yourself. I confirmed the terms with a company representative. And I like what I learned. As security-conscious as I am, I have no hesitation using the service-and I'm already doing so.
I know there are many people out there who would love to support ACT! for America, or give more than they're giving, but in these tough economic times they simply can't.
Well, here's a way that everyone who believes in our mission can easily support what we're doing-at no cost to them.
It doesn't get any better than that.
There are already chapter leaders who have signed up for the program, and the feedback I have been getting from them has been all positive. They love the idea and many of them are already using it.
So please, join me and these ACT! for America chapter leaders who are already signed up and using the iGive service.
Yours for a safe and free America

There is an increasing trend toward higher health insurance rates for those who are overweight and live "unhealthy" lifestyles as defined by insurance companies and employers. As the thinking goes, the obese and others (usually smokers) are automatically viewed as chronically unhealthy and above average consumers of healthcare services.
Whether this is true for a particular person or not has become irrelevant. More premium money has to be collected from somewhere and neither the cowardly insurance companies nor our feckless politically correct corporate leaders will demand higher premiums from homosexuals whose risky lifestyle is well established as a cause of serious illnesses that are costly to treat.
The ethics of this position be damned - they just don't have the courage to face the storm that would follow an honest recalibration of insurance rates. They just aren't interested in practicing the liberals' favorite pursuit of making "everyone pay his fair share." ... 1.When Will Republicans Understand Free Market Healthcare?
Healthcare is one of the most complex policy issues. The lack of free market healthcare, engendered by endless government interventions (and secondary interventions to fix the original interventions), has made policy solutions even more cumbersome. But the overarching principle of any reform must begin with the understanding that federal intervention in the healthcare industry has inexorably driven up the cost of healthcare and health insurance. As such, no healthcare policy panacea can begin with growing government and further distorting the already grossly-altered healthcare market.
2.AUDIO: NPR says April "big" month for right wing terrorism
Revealing Politics has posted audio of NPR correspondent Dina Temple-Raston who claims that investigators are leaning towards a domestic terrorism because of the "timing." Specifically that April is big for right-wing terrorism because of things like Columbine & Hitler's birthday.
Michael Dresser of The Baltimore Sun (who is greatly missed from his days as a transit/transportation writer for them before he went to the government beat) writes about new rules from the Maryland Republican Party related to media credentials (which I've excerpted at the bottom of this post.)
There are several questionable things in there, but the thing that stood out to me, besides Dresser's headline, was the credentialing rules as they relate to bloggers.
Basically, the rules show laziness by letting other credentialing bodies do all the work. Additionally, there seems to be an attempt to shut out bloggers.. . . please click here for the rest of the post →
4.GM: A Bad Investment
It's been nearly four years since General Motors (GM) declared bankruptcy and was bailed out by American taxpayers. So what has $50 billion bought us?
Working Mother magazine recently released their list of the dozen "Best Companies for Hourly Workers" for 2013. Among those listed was GM who, in their own press release, described the honor as "recognition of employers that have the best policies and programs for promoting women and a dynamic work life culture." However, closer inspection of where the company has chosen to invest appears to indicate that the promotion of women does not rank highly among GM's priorities. In fact, allegiance to the country that built them also does not seem to make the list at GM. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →

The day before the Marathon Massacre, the New York Times had scored plaudits for running an op-ed by one of Osama bin Laden's bodyguards complaining about his hard life in Guantanamo Bay.
On April 14th, the paper of broken record paid 150 bucks to an Al Qaeda member for the opportunity to complain about being force fed during his hunger strike. On April 15th the bombs went off.
The attacks of September 11 introduced a dividing line between awareness and disregard. There was the world of September 10 and the world of September 11. In one world the planes passing in the sky were a minor reminder of our technological prowess. In the other, we were at war.
There was no such clear dividing line when September 11 faded from memory and we returned to a September 10 world. Nor is there an exact date for when we will return to an April 14 world in which it is okay to pay a terrorist in exchange for his propaganda. But if the media has its way, that day can't come soon enough.
A day after the bombings, the New York Times wrote that a decade without terror had come to an end. But the terror had never stopped or paused. The FBI and local law enforcement had gone on breaking up numerous terror plots to the skepticism and ridicule of the media which accused them of violating Muslim civil rights and manufacturing threats.
Some of those plots seemed laughable. A man setting up a car bomb near a Broadway theater where crowds waiting to see The Lion King musical, kids in tow, were lining up. A plot to detonate bombs in the Grand Central and the Times Square subway stations. Underwear bombers. Shoe bombers. It became fashionable to laugh at them. Silly crazies trying to kill people in ridiculous ways. Almost as silly as trying to hijack planes while armed only with box cutters and then ramming those planes into buildings.
Liberal urbanites stopped breathing sighs of relief every time a terror plot was broken up and turned on law enforcement. There were suspicions that these were just setups. Representatives of Muslim groups complained that law enforcement was taking confused kids and tricking them into terrorist plots that they never could have carried out on their own.
If Boston's evidence confirms Jihadism, it is part of a war that has never ended - that our withdrawal from Iraq, Afghanistan and siding with the Muslim Brotherhood in the Arab Spring - were not able to end.
The Senate on Wednesday defeated an amendment, introduced by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), that would have reinstated a federal assault weapons ban. The bill failed by a 40 to 60 vote, falling short of the 60-vote threshold to overcome a filibuster.

Boston Marathon Bombings and Obama's Phantom War on Terrorism GrassTopsUSA Exclusive Commentary By Don Feder 04/18/2013
Barack Obama promised to get to the bottom of the latest terrorist incident - or his middle name isn't Hussein. Secretary of State John Kerry called the bombing in his hometown "simply unacceptable." (Hey, it worked with North Korea's nuclear program, didn't it?). Senator Dianne Feinstein says she's preparing a bill to ban large-capacity pressure cookers. (Really, do civilians need them?) Hillary blamed an Internet video mocking Muhammad for the carnage. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano deplored the "man-caused disaster" and DHS has begun rounding up the usual Christian suspects.
I thought of these possible headlines on Monday, while contemplating the "horrific act of violence" (in media-speak) about 20 miles from my home. What do we know about the Boston Marathon bombings and Obama's phantom war on terrorism?
1. The date was significant. April 15 is the day Boston celebrates the Battles of Lexington and Concord, which marked the start of America's struggle for nationhood. It's also Israel's Independence Day. Muslim terrorists like to attack on dates with symbolic significance. (The Benghazi attack occurred on the anniversary of 9-11.) Would it be so surprising if they struck on a day special for the two nations they hate most in the world?
2. The slaughter has many of the signs of Muslim terrorism - bombs packed with ball-bearings and nails inside pressure cookers, detonated in a crowd. (Pressure cookers have frequently been used in terror attacks in Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and Nepal. See "Make A Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom" in al-Qaeda's "Inspire" magazine.) A recent posting on an al-Qaeda website by Abu Musab al-Suri recommended sporting events as ideal targets. Trained in political correctness, law enforcement agencies in the Age of Obama believe that if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck - it's probably an orangutan.
Palestinian prime minister Salam Fayyad resigned-Majdi Mohammed, File/Associated Press
Salam Fayyad has resigned as prime minister of the Palestinian Authority. Losing practically the only Palestinian leader committed to building civil society and limiting corruption is a blow for those hoping for a two-state solution or even an improved quality of life for Palestinians.
Jonathan Schanzer of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies told me in a phone interview Sunday, "This is undeniably a defeat for the administration and undeniably a defeat for the Palestinian cause."
According to Schanzer, Secretary of State John F. Kerry was aware of the brewing crisis since February, but neither his recent efforts to restart the peace process nor the president's supportive words for Fayyad during his recent trip were sufficient to prevent Fayyad's ouster. So, Schanzer concludes, "It is hard not to see this as an early defeat for Kerry." Although, he said, this also is clearly seen as a "blowback to the Obama administration policies."
Quite simply, the United States has lost influence in the region since we abandoned Iraq entirely, pulled up stakes prematurely in Afghanistan, allowed Bashar al-Assad to pursue his bloody civil war in Syria and failed to halt Iran's nuclear weapons program through diplomacy and sanctions. It is the appearance of ineptitude and willingness to resign ourselves to defeat that also leaves us without sway over players like Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Schanzer observes, "We aren't projecting the same power in the region." Indeed it is easy to forget that the U.S. triumph in the Cold War was in large part responsible for our success in beginning the Oslo process. Conversely, as power drains away we lose the ability to bend events our way in the Middle East.
Probably not. Recall, to cite just one recent example, how the news media got virtually every fact wrong during the first hours and days after the Newtown shootings. Still, the media's Boston performance has been atrocious, to the point where the FBI released a statement chiding the press:
[C]ontrary to widespread reporting, there have been no arrests made in connection with the Boston Marathon attack. ...
Over the past day and a half, there have been a number of press reports based on information from unofficial sources that has been inaccurate. Since these stories often have unintended consequences, we ask the media, particularly at this early stage of the investigation, to exercise caution and attempt to verify information through appropriate official channels before reporting.
What is unique about the Boston Marathon atrocity is that it occurred not only in a public place, but a public place that was full of people taking pictures and videos. As a result, there is a treasure trove of images that, one would think, inevitably will show investigators who placed the lethal packages on the ground. Amateur sleuths have combed through the many available photos and videos and have identified several possible bombers. This conspiracy-peddling site is typical, and who knows? Maybe one or more of they suspects they have fingered will turn out to be the culprit.
Unfortunately, outlets that should have known better, like CNN and the New York Post, have jumped into the fray and either published photos of men identified as suspects or described them in a way that would be familiar to those following the online frenzy. These two guys, a 17-year-old high school runner and his track coach, were so identified, but apparently are innocent:
It strikes me as almost inevitable that the authorities will be able to identify the perpetrator(s) before long; in the meantime, speculation is unhelpful at best. One observation, though: it is interesting that when there is a bombing, we immediately assume that a group was responsible and the motive was political. On the other hand, when there is a mass shooting, we tend to assume the perpetrator is a lone nut. But is there any reason why a lone nut (or maybe a pair of nuts) couldn't fabricate a bomb rather than use a gun? No. Bombs are, of course, a little more trouble. But so is ricin, and the perpetrator of the latest ricin attack apparently was an Elvis impersonator with delusions.
For what it's worth-probably zero-my instinct is that the Boston attack was not carried out by Islamic terrorists. That's just a suspicion, based on how the attack was executed and, of course, the fact that no group has claimed responsibility. If I were to speculate, I would guess that the bombing was the act of a lunatic with no more coherent political or philosophical agenda than a James Holmes or a Ted Kaczynski. But that's just a guess; we will know the answer soon enough, in all likelihood.
UPDATE: The FBI has released photos of the suspects here.
Marco Rubio appeared on Mark Levin's program yesterday to argue in favor of the Gang of Eight's immigration reform bill. In my view, Levin asked good question and received, for the most part, weak or slippery answers.
You can listen to interview, which is well worth 17 minutes of your time, here.
Levin devoted most of the interview to border security. He got Rubio to admit that the efficacy of his proposal, on the enforcement side, depends on its faithful execution by politicians and public officials who may well be unwilling to meet their obligations. Certainly, their predecessors often have not met them.
Rubio tried to shrug off this problem by stating that, in a Republic there are consequences to electing the wrong people. This is true. But one of those consequences need not be amnesty and a path to citizenship for more than 11 million people in exchange for more promises about enforcement. Whether this happens will depend on how many of the wrong people we elected to the current Senate and House.
Levin's last question was: why a path to citizenship? Rubio's answer was weak and evasive. His first point was that "this issue was going to happen with or without us because the Democrats were going to raise it and push it" no matter what.
But this response begs the question. Sure, the Democrats were going to propose a path to citizenship. But Rubio didn't need to agree to it. Without Rubio, the Democrats would have no chance of enacting comprehensive immigration reform.
His second point was that the current system hurts the economy. Why? Because illegal aliens, having no legal status, are forced to work for low wages. This, says Rubio, depresses everyone's wages.
The economic consequences of Rubio's measure will be the subject of considerable debate; Rubio's economic "analysis" is simplistic and, on balance, probably not persuasive.
But even if we accept his analysis, it is still no argument for a path to citizenship for more than 11 million lawbreakers. At most, Rubio makes a case for giving illegal immigrants some sort of legalized status; not for making them citizens.
Tom Perez is President Obama's nominee for Secretary of Labor. There are many reasons why he should not be confirmed. I discussed some of them here and here.
My complaints about Perez pre-date his most recent nomination. In a 2009 Washington Times op-ed, I objected to his nomination to head Justice Department's Office of Civil Rights.
It is not easy to block a cabinet nominee on policy grounds, nor should it be. But in Perez's case, his dishonesty alone would be sufficient reason for a filibuster. That dishonesty involves two important matters.
First, Perez gave false testimony to the Civil Rights Commission about the New Black Panther Party voter intimidation case. Under oath, Perez said that no "political leadership" at DOJ was involved in the decision not to pursue that matter. But a federal district court judge (Reggie Walton) found that internal Justice Department documents "contradict" this testimony.
Second, it is now clear that Perez made false statements to investigators who looked into a deal he orchestrated with the City of St. Paul. Under Perez's deal, the DOJ caused the dismissal of a suit against the City of St. Paul, one that could have netted $180 million to U.S. taxpayers, in exchange for the City's agreement to drop a Supreme Court appeal (in the case of Magner v. Gallaher), the outcome of which might have invalidated DOJ's pet method of proving racial discrimination in housing cases.
Mr. Perez told investigators he hadn't heard of the Magner case until the Supreme Court agreed to hear it on November 7, 2011. But HUD Deputy Assistant Secretary Sara Pratt told investigators that she and Mr. Perez had a discussion about the case well before that.
Mr. Perez also says he didn't propose the quid pro quo. But St. Paul's lawyer, David Lillehaug, testified that Mr. Perez first called him on November 23, 2011 to discuss Magner and on November 29 met him to propose a "potential solution": the quid pro quo. It defies logic to believe St. Paul wanted to drop a case it had been fighting for nearly a decade and after the High Court had finally agreed to hear it.
Perez has worked in additional ways to cover-up his involvement in the quid pro quo.
On January 10, 2012, Mr. Perez left a voicemail for Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Brooker, instructing him not to link Magner and Newell in the memo explaining why Justice wouldn't intervene in Newell.
Mr. Perez also told investigators he didn't have "any recollection" of using his personal email to correspond about the quid pro quo. . .Congressional investigators later discovered a personal email Mr. Perez sent to St. Paul's lawyer, Mr. Lillehaug, on December 10, 2011. They have subpoenaed Mr. Perez for his Verizon email account, but Mr. Perez has not complied with the subpoena.
Will Senate Republicans give a pass to the dishonest Mr. Perez? I expect that they will, for reasons that will be the subject of another post.
It's been another terrible, no good, very bad week for the left, and it isn't over yet. We could still get another Democrat or trade union running for cover over the disaster that is the unfolding of Obamacare. We certainly haven't seen the last of the left's bitter clingers complaining about the four Democratic Senators who extended their own right of self-preservation to the rest of us by voting down the gun bill. Obama's outburst yesterday wins the Oscar for the Most Petulant Performance by a President since Woodrow Wilson went off on Republican senators in 1917: "A little group of willful men, representing no opinion but their own, have rendered the great government of the United States helpless and contemptible." And we know how that story turned out for Wilson.
And remember how Dept. of Homeland Security Secretary Janet "The System Worked" Napolitano tried to rebrand terrorism as "man-caused disasters" in the early innings of the Obama regime? I'd love to see her try that one again this week. Meanwhile, remember how the New York Times featured Bill Ayers on September 11, 2001 saying he regretted having not engaged in more domestic terrorist activity? Well, the Los Angeles Times tried to complete with the NY Times on Monday, with this headline and story: "With Al Qaeda Shattered, U.S. Counter-Terrorism's Future Unclear."
Lost in the shuffle this week is what appears to be the rout if not total collapse of the cornerstone of Europe's climate change policy-it's much vaunted carbon trading system. On Tuesday the European Parliament voted down a last-ditch attempt to prop up the failing carbon trading system. As the Wall Street Journal put it yesterday: "One of the great policy bubbles of our times has been cap and trade for carbon emissions, and on Tuesday It may have popped for good. . . When even Europe recognizes the folly of artificially raising energy prices, the anticarbon obsessives have lost in their own climate-change temple."
During the debate over the measure on Monday, UKIP Party rep Godfrey Bloom had fun taunting the "denialists" of the current pause in global warming-this one-minute clip is worth a look:
Also be sure to savor this Reuters story about how scientists are "struggling" to explain the current lack of warming. Meanwhile, the International Energy Agency in Paris is out with a report yesterday showing that despite nearly $2 trillion in investment in "clean" energy in recent years, there's been no progress in reducing the carbon intensity of the world's energy supply. As the IEA's executive director told The Guardian:
"Despite much talk by world leaders, and a boom in renewable energy over the past decade, the average unit of energy produced today is basically as dirty as it was 20 years ago."
How do you spot climatefail? Like this:
The IEA said that coal-fired generation grew by 45% between 2000 and 2010, far outpacing the 25% growth in non-fossil fuel generation over the same period.
I'll have an article in the Weekly Standard out this Saturday that surveys the climate and energy beat. Stay tuned. . .
Meanwhile, that MENSA member John Kerry has struck again. Today he referred to the Boston Red Sox adopted theme song "Sweet Caroline" as "Sweet Adeline." We can file that next to his rendering of "Lambert Field" in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the "Yoo-cah" Mountain nuclear waste site in Nevada. (But that would be "Ne-VAH-da" to Kerry anyway.)
One last item, to follow up on my notice of the passing of Jonathan Winters the other day. A lot of people, including Robin Williams in the New York Times, recall Winters' extraordinary improvisations with a stick on the Jack Parr show back in the early 1960s. Here it is:
April 18, 2013 Is something fishy going on?
A Saudi national is going to be deported next week? Here's a picture of him from his Facebook page:
Check out what Steve Emerson (who is speaking at our national conference) told Sean Hannity last night:

Meanwhile, the New York Postran a story this morning with a picture of two individuals authorities want to talk to. Isn't it strange that this picture is getting almost no coverage in the rest of the media?

Tragedy In Texas
Our prayers go out to the people of West, Texas. A fertilizer plant exploded last night in the small town, about 80 miles south of Dallas. The explosion was so powerful that it registered as a magnitude 2.1 earthquake with the U.S. Geological Survey.
Authorities say as many as 15 people may be dead. Initial reports indicated that 160 people were injured and scores of nearby homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed. Click here for ways you can help the victims and this community.
Suspects Identified?
The Boston Globe reports today that the authorities investigating the Boston Marathon bombing have identified "two separate suspects" from area surveillance videos. The Globe also reports that the FBI plans to release the photos to the public in the hope that someone will be able to identify the individuals.
Testifying this morning before the House Homeland Security Committee, Secretary Janet Napolitano "clarified" their status, saying, "I wouldn't characterize them as suspects under the technical term. But we need the public's help in locating these individuals."
Meanwhile, there was some confusion today regarding the status of Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, the Saudi student cleared after being questioned at the hospital after the bombing. It has been reported that Alharbi was set to be deported next week on "national security grounds."
Glenn Beck's The Blaze noted that Alharbi's visa has been revoked.
Now there are reports that there is a second Saudi student who was arrested for visa violations, but he has no known connection to the bombing.
Obama Dealt A "Devastating Blow"
Yesterday, "the Senate delivered a devastating blow to President Obama's agenda to regulate guns." That's not just my opinion. That is how the Washington, D.C., publication The Hill described yesterday's Senate vote rejecting a compromise amendment on background checks for gun sales.
Under an agreement between Senate Leaders Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell, all amendments needed 60 votes to pass, and this one failed 54-to-46. Four Republicans -- Collins (ME), Kirk (IL), McCain (AZ) and Toomey (PA) -- joined 50 Democrats in backing the amendment. Five Democrats -- Baucus (MT), Begich (AK), Heitkamp (ND), Pryor (AR) and Reid (NV) -- voted with 41 Republicans to oppose the expansion of background checks.
(Harry Reid voted against the amendment, even though he supported it. Under the Senate's arcane rules the move allows Reid to bring the amendment back up for a vote at a later date.)
As The Hill notes, with the compromise amendment on background checks defeated, the bill retains the Democrats' original language on universal checks. But that language is so unpopular that it could torpedo the entire bill. As a result, Harry Reid will likely pull the gun control legislation from the floor and move on to other issues.
Other Democrat efforts to limit Second Amendment rights went down in flames. Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) got only 46 votes for his amendment to ban high capacity ammunition clips. And Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) was able to muster only 40 votes in support of her so-called "assault weapons" ban. Only one Republican, Sen. Kirk of Illinois, voted in favor of the "assault weapons" ban, while 16 Democrats voted against it.
Meanwhile, Republican amendments to expand Second Amendment rights also failed, but they received far more votes. An amendment by Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) to protect the Second Amendment rights of veterans received 56 votes. Senator John Cornyn's (R-TX) amendment expanding concealed-carry rights received 57 votes.
"Shameful"
Politico called the gun control votes "Obama's biggest loss" and suggested it could "foreshadow the slow decline" of his presidency. That's ironic considering how the media heralded his reelection as the beginning of a new liberal era in America.
Obama was clearly stung by the loss. At a White House press conference, flanked by former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and Sandy Hook families, Obama lashed out at the senators who opposed him. Obama said, "There were no coherent arguments as to why we wouldn't do this." He said supporters of the Second Amendment "willfully lied." And he added, "All in all this was a pretty shameful day for Washington."
What is shameful is the way Obama responded. In all my years in Washington, I cannot recall any president reacting that way to a legislative defeat.
Members of the United States Congress are not his puppets. They were elected to represent their constituents, and, unlike Barack Obama, most of them will have to answer to the voters again.
On Fox News last night, Charles Krauthammer fired back. He said:
"If you're going to make all of these emotional appeals you've gotta show that if this had been law, it would have stopped Newtown. It would not have. It's irrelevant. ...
"[I]t's emotional blackmail to say, 'You have to do it for the children.' Not if there's no logic in this, and that I think is what's wrong with the demagoguery that we've heard out of the president on this issue."
Morning Jolt. . . with Jim Geraghty
April 18, 2013
Been a long week, hasn't it? Can we just call today "Friday"?
Spare Us the Usual Partisan Blame Game During Terror Crises, Mr. President
A big reason why no version of any gun-control proposal passed the Senate with 60 votes Wednesday was because none, or almost none, of the senators believed it would actually prevent another massacre. Vice President Joe Biden, leading the president's gun task force, declared, "Nothing we're going to do is going to fundamentally alter or eliminate the possibility of another mass shooting or guarantee that we will bring gun deaths down to 1,000 a year from what it is now." (Video here.)
I don't need to rehash it much: The Newtown shooter stole the guns he used, none of the recent massacre perpetrators purchased their firearms at gun shows, most of them hadn't done anything that would flag them in the instant-check system until they pulled the trigger, police ignored the warnings of the Aurora shooter's psychiatrist, and so on.
When we learned the details about the Newtown shooter, it was painfully clear that no policy, short of banning private gun ownership and forcibly collecting every last firearm in private hands, could prevent something like that from happening again. And yet the whole argument for this bill was driven by invoking Newtown every moment possible.
Even my half-hearted cut-Toomey-some-slack argument was based upon the political realities, not the sense that the bill would prevent another awful day. Suburban soccer moms who have marinated in the Oprah-fied feel-don't-think culture for decades demand that "something be done," so incumbents who want to appeal to those soccer moms must appear to be attempting to "do something," regardless of whether it accomplishes the stated goal. (My cynicism may be appalling, but it does enjoy a lot of supporting evidence and footnotes.)
Mr. President, we've got real problems to worry about, much bigger than whether a feel-good, largely symbolic measure passes the Senate and you get a political win. Somebody blew up Boston's happiest day of the year, maimed dozens, and tore apart families, and we don't know (as of this writing) if it's one guy or a group or whether he's got more efforts planned or whether he'll inspire copycats.
(Dear store clerks: If, in the coming days, somebody wants to buy a pressure cooker and wants to pay cash, take their picture. And if somebody wants to buy a bunch of pressure cookers all at once, feel free to ask a lot of probing questions.)
Some guy decided to take out his grievances with the government by sending ricin, either not knowing or caring that his most likely victims would be postal workers and unpaid Capitol Hill interns. Across the country, airport terminals, courthouses, high schools, train stations, and city halls are getting evacuated every time someone absent-mindedly leaves their bag somewhere.
We don't have time for your usual let's-start-messaging-for-the-midterms pep rallies, Mr. President. We have some non-symbolic problems we would like to see resolved. It's time to stop worrying about wasting crises and start focusing on resolving them.
Perhaps the president was in a particularly foul mood because of this headline:
Ron Fournier's lede lays out the cynicism of the whole gun-control push from the beginning:
Blame the gun lobby. Blame Republicans. Blame a handful of skittish Democrats who gave the GOP cover. Blame the entire band of demagogues who killed the modest attempt to close loopholes in a law requiring background checks for guns.
Blame them, too, for jeopardizing President Obama's entire legislative agenda. That was the point, anyhow, right?
Look, Mr. President, it's not like it was a secret that Baucus, Begich, Heitkamp, and Pryor would be the likely swing votes on the Toomey-Manchin proposal. Heitkamp's not up until 2018. The Huffington Post's Elise Foley notices, "None of the Dems who voted no on background checks were invited to dinner with Obama." Mr. President, if you needed them, did you act like you needed them?
Fournier continues:
The defeat raises questions about Obama's ability to unify congressional Democrats and to mobilize supporters via his nascent Organizing for Action, a first-of-its-kind political machine controlled by the White House. The president will need party unity and grassroots muscle to battle the GOP on immigration, federal spending, climate change and other White House interests.
Coming into the week, Obama's agenda appeared to be at an important juncture-with guns, immigration, and deficit-reduction talks at various stages of progress. Winning an expansion of the background check, even as bolder gun measures failed, would have given Obama momentum to push the other two items.
Conversely, his rivals may now feel emboldened to block Obama's entire agenda. In their most cynical moments, Republican leaders privately cheer themselves with the fact that a president's approval rating usually suffers amid gridlock.
Obama's team took news of the defeat hard Wednesday, with some advisers predicting that gun regulation won't be revived. It is hard for them to explain the failure of a measure supported by 90 percent of the public without making the president appear weak.
Kemberlee Kaye: "Political opportunism is not an effective means of governance, as @TheDemocrats learned today. Plus, Constitution and stuff."
Ace: "Obama showed the passion and anger at his personal defeat that he wasn't able to manage after the Benghazi slaughter."
Richard Grenell: "More anger on one's failed Senate vote than on international terrorism is a sure sign of a large ego."
King Shamus: "Obama throws a temper tantrum because his permanent campaign couldn't make it happen. He's basically admitting his failure as a politician."
John Ondrasik, also known as the voice of Five for Fighting: "I love how politicians only blame politics when they lose."
Iowahawk: "Most popular president in history can't persuade own party to vote for commonsense legislation supported by 90% of voters. Or something."
Boston
For a time Wednesday afternoon, it appeared the Boston Marathon bombing case had been all but solved, with several outlets reporting an arrest had been made.
Not true, it appears. (I suppose there's a small chance authorities didn't want the public, or accomplices still at large, knowing someone had been apprehended.)
In a potential breakthrough in the investigation into the Boston Marathon bombing, investigators have isolated images of a suspect carrying and perhaps dropping a black bag believed to have held one of two bombs that exploded 12 seconds apart Monday near the finish line of the historic race, said an official briefed on the investigation.
Authorities were "very close" Wednesday in their pursuit of the bomber, said the official, who declined to be named.
A second person briefed on the investigation indicated that the image may have come from a cellphone.
Mark Sanford's Skeptics and Critics Are on the Verge of a Giant 'We Told You So'
For Sanford's teenage son Bolton, that very public moment marked the first time he had ever been in the presence of Maria Belen Chapur.
Sanford's former wife Jenny confirmed in a text message: "That was indeed Bolton's first intro and both boys were quite upset and visibly so."
Unsurprisingly, the National Republican Congressional Committee has told the candidate, "good luck, you're on your own":
A Republican familiar with the NRCC's decision criticized Sanford's lackluster response to the report about his ex-wife's trespassing complaint and said it would be "foolish" for anybody to spend money on him.
"It's not out of the realm of possibility for him to win - stranger things have happened in special elections," the Republican said. "But the fact that he wasted precious time and money rehabilitating his image only to squander that makes it very foolish for outside groups to commit resources."
Sanford issued a statement about what prompted the trespassing charge, and I have it posted in its entirety on Campaign Spot. If events occurred as Sanford describes them, then it is unfortunate that a missed communication led to a trespassing charge, and now an aura of scandal that may doom his campaign.
But, Governor . . . you don't seem to realize just how thin the ice underneath you is. People were willing to give you another shot, but they needed this stuff to be behind you. Everyone was hoping that, despite the epic public scandal that destroyed your marriage in 2009, you had become the kind of man who could work cordially with your ex-wife and the two of you could put the best interests of your kids first, reaching that peaceful coexistence that all divorced couples desire. If your ex-wife says "call first" before stopping by, you make sure you reach her.
You're going up against an opponent whose policy stances are a bag of marshmallows. The Elizabeth Colbert Busch candidacy offends me, because her answers and statements so far -she certainly doesn't do many interviews - suggest she doesn't know much about the policies she would deal with as this district's representative, or, more likely, she knows exactly what she wants to do, but knows her stances would be too liberal for a R+10 district full of conservative retirees. So we get meaningless babble about how a $16 trillion debt crisis can be solved without cutting entitlements, without a chained CPI, without sequestration, without tax hikes, and simply by addressing "loopholes, fraud, and waste." That's the kind of answer you get when your focus group is made up of the people who follow the news the least.
But it's hard to get people to focus on any of that when the other option has reverted to a soap opera.

Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah Cheer Boston Marathon Bombings
Posted by Jim Hoft on Monday, April 15, 2013
Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Hezbollah cheered the Boston Marathon bombings shortly after the bombs exploded. Israel National News reported:
Jerusalem, Israel - April 15, 2013 ... Shortly after terror bombs exploded and murdered over 12 people at the Boston Marathon, members of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah were reported to be dancing in the streets of Gaza, handing out candies to passerbys.
A number of Palestinians had danced in the street in celebration of the 9/11 attacks in 2001 on the World Trade Center and Washington resulting in the deaths of thousands of Americans.
The head of an Islamic terror organization in Jordan - the Muslim Salafi group says he's "happy to see the horror in America" after the bombing attacks in Boston.
"American blood isn't more precious than Muslim blood," said Mohammad al-Chalabi, who was convicted in an al-Qaeda-linked plot to attack US and other Western diplomatic missions in Jordan in 2003.
"Let the Americans feel the pain we endured by their armies occupying Iraq and Afghanistan and killing our people there," he said today.
A Mideast counterterrorism official based in Jordan said the blasts "carry the hallmark of an organized terrorist group, like al-Qaeda."
The New York Post has reported that at least 12 people are dead and over 100 injured - including up to 15 with amputated limbs - after two bombs ripped through the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
"Very many and very meritorious were the worthy patriots who assisted in bringing back our government to its republican tack. To preserve it in that, will require unremitting vigilance." --Thomas Jefferson (1822)
Patriots' Day (April 19th), though not widely celebrated, commemorates the substance of the eternal fight for Liberty as "endowed by our Creator." More than just the anniversary of theBattles of Lexington and Concord, Patriots' Day embodies the spirit of the first American Revolution and the original Sons of Liberty.
This week in which we observe with reverence the sacrifices of our Founding Fathers and successive generations of American Patriotswho defended Essential Liberty, there was notable news of the good, the bad and the very ugly.
First, the good news: Guns
"... The right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." --Second Amendment to the United States Constitution
On Wednesday, the Democrat-controlled Senate failed to advance Barack Obama'sprized "sensible gun control measure" to expand background checks for gun transfers -- legislation which ranked second only to ObamaCare in his list of policy priorities. Senate Democrats then blocked a vote on Obama's so-called "assault weapons" ban and a ban on high-capacity magazines, effectively tabling those measures for "more opportune timing."
Responding to the vote, Obama declared, "The gun lobby and its allies willfully lied about the bill [claiming it would create] some sort of Big Brother gun registry. It came down to politics. All in all, today was a pretty shameful day for Washington."
As for "lies," the BIG lie in the so-called "gun loophole" legislation is that none of the sociopaths in any of the mass murders that Obama shamelessly exploits acquired the weapons they used through any loophole. As Charles Krauthammer wrote, "If you're going to make all of these emotional appeals you've gotta show that if this had been law, it would have stopped Newtown. It would not have. It's irrelevant. ... [I]t's emotional blackmail to say, 'You have to do it for the children.'"
Regarding "Big Brother," if you believe that the central government does not maintain a database of the background checks now required for gun purchases, then you're a candidate for our Non Compos Mentis award. That database may not exist as one complete record, but I can assure you that a master list of all background checks for gun purchases in recent decades can be reconstituted from its component parts maintained on government servers.
And "shameful politics"? That more aptly describes the way Obama has paraded around like political puppets the grieving parents of murdered children, and used the caskets of those children as a political soapbox. Using that heart-wrenching grief to stir the sentiments of the nation in hopes of passing statist gun control measures is beyond disgraceful. In truth, this "shameful politics" is simply the "new politic norm" of the Hope-and-Change president.
Notably, Obama added, "I see this as just round one. The fight is not over."

Today Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Democrat from Nevada, will hold the first procedural vote on major gun control legislation since 1993. Compromise seems to be in the air, as Senators Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), indicated in a joint press conference yesterday.
"I'm a gun owner, and the rights that are enshrined in the second amendment are very, very important to me personally, as I know they are to so many people across Pennsylvania," Senator Toomey said. "My record shows this, but I gotta tell you candidly, I don't consider criminal background checks to be gun control. I think it's just common sense."
Senator Manchin echoed these sentiments. Gun owners in West Virginia, he said, "understand this is common sense. This is gun sense. We're not infringing on your rights as an individual citizen. But, basically, if you're going to go to a gun show you should be subjected the same [background checks] as if you went to the gun store."
Both Toomey and Manchin have earned an "A" rating from the National Rifle Association, but for Steve Onufrey, a Pennsylvania gun owner and member of the Concerned Gun Owners of Bucks County, that "A" isn't enough to earn his trust on Toomey's proposals.
It was a Christian Democrat Elvis-impersonating would-be hospital whistle-blowing Mensa member who allegedly mailed ricin to the POTUS and a GOP senator? Welcome to one of the weirdest news stories in recent memory.
In the event of a mass shooting, the police may not arrive until it's over. A recent study shows that the average police response time in 84 shootings was three minutes, which may seem fast until one considers how much carnage can happen in three minutes. Wouldn't it be nice to have a Beretta or a Glock to protect yourself?
A massive blast at a fertilizer plant in West, Texas, was reportedly heard as far away as the Dallas area, more than 60 miles away. Texans have shared images of the blast on social media. It looks massive. There are reports that the entire town, population 2800, is being evacuated.
It's our mainstream media's commitment to tell only one side, to protect only one party, to make only one case, to decide for us what should be deduced from the details they provide and what should be hidden with those details they try to ignore.
There is something eating away at this country. A dark, oppressive cloud hovering over America. Rush Limbaugh said on Monday that America is dying. Following the Senates rejection of the gun control bill, MSNBCs Morning Joe launched a campaign of public shaming of those who voted no. (And in some cases, they chose a few unflattering photos to display.) "The 'Gang of Eight' bill introduced in the U.S. Senate violates the very rule of law principle that creates opportunity for immigrants and makes America a beacon of hope for the world," DeMint writes. And it "imposes significant costs on taxpayers."
The fact is that our modern welfare state has completely changed the equation on costs and benefits of low-skilled immigration. Our welfare system is costly - approaching nearly $1 trillion a year - and, even worse, includes perverse incentives, stifles upward mobility, weakens our work culture and has changed the whole immigration arithmetic.
Any immigration reform should encourage lawful immigration and discourage unlawful immigration, DeMint and Morgan argue. Such a plan should be debated in the open, not drafted behind closed doors, and it "should first do no harm to our already dire fiscal outlook."
In the wake of this week's tragic attacks, including the Boston bombing and the ricin-laced letters sent to the Senate and the White House, policymakers need to refocus on effective homeland security solutions.
The first purpose of federal government is to protect its citizens. For this reason, The Heritage Foundation has long been focused on developing homeland security policies that keep the U.S. safe and prosperous, as seen in these reports.
For more information on Heritage's work on counterterrorism, click here.
As Heritage Foundation Founder Ed Feulner has always said, it is better to add and multiply the conservative movement than it it to divide and subtract.
This is why for the last 36 years Heritage has hosted the annual Resource Bank meeting: to bring together conservative leaders and organizations from around the country and around the world. Attendees will talk strategy, share tactics and best practices, and work to strengthen the movement.
Since the birth of our nation, the United States has recognized the vital role of lawful immigration, as it brings important economic and cultural benefits. We have always been, and will continue to be, a nation of immigrants.
We are also a nation of laws. The "Gang of Eight" bill introduced in the U.S. Senate violates the very rule of law principle that creates opportunity for immigrants and makes America a beacon of hope for the world. Giving legal residency to the 11 million people who came here illegally has one definition: amnesty. Amnesty rewards unlawful behavior and diminishes opportunity and prosperity for lawful immigrants and all Americans.
The Senate bill imposes significant costs on taxpayers. At a time of trillion-dollar deficits and $17 trillion in debt, the cost of implementing amnesty and the strain it will add to already fragile entitlement and welfare programs should be of serious concern for everyone.
After decades of empty promises on immigration enforcement, Congress simply lacks credibility to keep its promises. A comprehensive amnesty bill was tried before and it failed. In 1986 we had about 3 million unlawful immigrants. Congress granted them legal status with a promise to control our borders and fix our legal immigration system.
Lawmakers who supported the 1986 bill promised in grand speeches that amnesty would never happen again. Now there are 11 million unlawful immigrants in America because amnesty was immediate but the border wasn't secured, workplace laws were not enforced, and our legal immigration system was not fixed. The result of amnesty is clear -- it encourages more unlawful immigration in hopes of future amnesties.
This new bill is much the same as the last: immediate amnesty in the form of provisional status within months and lofty promises of "strategies" and "plans" for enforcement years later.
Rather than rewarding the 11 million who broke our laws, Congress should first consider how to make the immigration system work for the more than 4 million people waiting patiently outside our borders to come to our country legally. A rational system would make it easier to follow the law than to break it.
Instead of passing another incomprehensible comprehensive immigration bill, Congress should debate and develop understandable reforms in a transparent step-by-step process that addresses all of the immigration issues. This will build trust with the American people and unite the country rather than divide it.
Obama Offers One More Reason States Shouldn't Rush to Expand Medicaid
Tucked away in the president's latest budget was a recommendation to delay scheduled cuts in payments to hospitals that treat large numbers of the uninsured patients and therefore provide a disproportionate amount of uncompensated care. The cuts in Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) payments were enacted under Obamacare, and the call to postpone them constitutes another admission that Obamacare's grand plans and promises are falling short. More important, it provides another reason for states not to undertake the Medicaid expansion encouraged by Obamacare.
Under Obamacare, DSH payments are to be cut by $18.1 billion over a ten-year period, starting in FY 2014. The rationale behind the cuts was that, as the new coverage provisions of Obamacare - the subsidies and Medicaid expansion in conjunction with the individual mandate - go into effect, there would be less demand on hospitals to serve the uninsured. In its amicus brief to the Supreme Court case, the American Hospital Association argued the DSH cuts were part of such a "grand bargain."
But, the Supreme Court decision, while keeping the individual mandate in place, made the mandatory Medicaid expansion optional for the states. That puts the administration's grand coverage plans and the grand bargain for hospitals at risk, and the postponement of these cuts makes it all the less likely.
The administration has all but admitted the grand deal is falling apart and the proposed hospital cuts are unrealistic. Maybe it is time for the states to tell the hospitals to shift their attention to the real problem: Obamacare.

The Story of Gosnell's "House of Horrors" by Sarah Torre, Policy Analyst at The Heritage Foundation
"Infanticide" is perhaps too soft a term to describe the brutality that became commonplace at the corners of 38th St. and Lancaster Ave. in Philadelphia.
The trial of Kermit Gosnell, who ran the West Philadelphia Women's Medical Center abortion clinic since 1979, has been underway for over three weeks. But the mainstream media's refusal to cover the story has left many Americans ignorant of the horrific conditions and deadly procedures inflicted on women and children by Gosnell.
Among other crimes, the former doctor is charged with the murder of seven infants who were born alive after failed abortion attempts. According to former clinic staff, the murder of newborn infants after botched abortions was a regular occurrence, with one clinic worker estimating nearly 100 living babies were gruesomely murdered moments after birth.persecution.
Indeed, the over 200-page grand jury report on the Gosnell caseacknowledges that hundreds of live infants were likely killed after failed abortions, but the clinic's shoddy record keeping only allows for formal murder charges in seven cases. Many of the clinics abortions were also allegedly performed on infants older than 24 weeks gestation, the legal limit for abortion in Pennsylvania, including on babies old enough to be viable outside of the womb.
Gosnell's disregard for the dignity of human life extended to the vulnerable mothers of the infants he and his staff are charged with murdering. Prosecutors and former clinic workers have testified to the decaying, dangerous operating rooms of Gosnell's clinic, stocked with "filthy, corroded" instruments and outdated machines, which had gone uninspected for 17 years. Many of Gosnell's staff were untrained in the work they performed on mostly low-income women in Philadelphia, including a then-15 year old girl who sometimes assisted in abortion procedures and administered prescription drugs to patients.
Gosnell also faces murder charges in the death of a Virginia woman who allegedly died from an overdose of anesthetic drugs given to her during an abortion procedure at his clinic. Additional women were allegedly either injured or exposed to infectious diseases because of the clinic's unsanitary conditions and incompetent staff.
For those advocating for unrestricted abortion access, the reality of unsafe clinics, illegal late-term abortions, and the gruesome murder of newborns are truths too inconvenient to tell.
The United States cannot feign to defend and promote basic human rights-including the most fundamental right to life-if it does not fully protect the most vulnerable members of society. But reckless abortionists like Gosnell will continue to take innocent lives, unsanitary abortion clinics will continue to harm women, and policymakers will continue to send taxpayer funds to abortion providers unless the American people are shown the reality of the abortion industry's darkest corners.
Since 1973, the share of all abortions performed on teenage girls has decreased by nearly half. The shares for women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s and older have increased, particularly for older women.

COMMENTARY: The Boston Bombing and the Nature of Evil By Ben Shapiro The notion that the presence of good in our world outweighs the presence of evil is wrongheaded.
Commissars at the White Fortress have announced that a Saudi Arabian traveling pressure-cooker salesman, who happened to be watching the Boston Marathon and coincidentally was hospitalized because of unexplained chemical burns, is being quickly deported in the interests of world harmony and international friendship.
The Department of Crime Redistribution issued a memorandum saying that Middle Easterners had fulfilled their international violence quota through their hard work in Afghanistan, Syria, and Mali, and so no further international terrorism could be attributed to them this fiscal year.

Height of insanity: CNN's John King afraid to describe potential bombing suspect
As Glenn explained on radio today, TheBlaze isn't rooting for the bombing suspect to be of any particular race or political affiliation. TheBlaze only seeks the truth and will let the chips fall where they may. But the mainstream media has been so concerned with 'offending' people, so paralyzed with fear, they aren't even reporting key facts. Yesterday, CNN's John King took political correctness to a new extreme while trying to describe a possible bombing suspect. WATCH
Shame: Obama angry over gun control defeat
Obama is upset, very upset, that Congress keeps getting in the way of all the 'progress' he promised to make. Sure, most Americans are not in favor of relinquishing more freedoms in favor of more gun restrictions, but that's not stopping the President from pretending Americans are on his side. He called the Senate's failure to pass new gun-control legislation a 'shameful day' for America, which is not really surprising given Obama's disdain for the 'negative charter of liberties' that is the Constitution.
