"To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it."

NJ Mother Pressured to Turn Over Her Guns, Charged With 'Terroristic Threats' After Reading the Constitution at Tax Dispute Assembly
The Blaze | Erica Ritz | Mar. 12, 2013 4:15pm
Key Points:
- Eileen Hart objected to a state re-evaluation of her property value that would drastically increase her tax rates
- She read the Constitution at a tax dispute forum and called one of the appraisers a "pencil-pusher"
- One of tax officials called 911 saying Hart threatened to return with a gun, but she unequivocally denies the claim
- Hart was charged with making "terroristic threats" and told that if she didn't turn over her weapons, her bail would be prohibitively high and it was unclear how long she would have to remain in jail
-
A New Jersey mother was arrested and told to turn over her guns after reading the Constitution and peacefully protesting at a tax dispute forum, she says.
Eileen Hart was with her husband Keith and her 7-year-old daughter on Saturday at the Gloucester Community Center to dispute a mandatory home re-evaluation that would roughly double her property value (and therefore dramatically increase her rates), objecting on multiple grounds. As an Orthodox Jew, she refused to have the inspectors in her home when her husband was away at work. As an American citizen, she objected to the seemingly arbitrary reappraisal, noting that she is not planning on selling her home and hasn't renovated her kitchen in 30 years.
But at the forum, Hart was allegedly told that since she didn't let the inspectors into her home, the state has a right to "assume" its value.

Drones Over Pennsylvania
The drones in Pennsylvania are used for training and equipped with cameras, according to the FAA authorization.
By Eric Boehm | PA Independent | March 11, 2013
HARRISBURG - The Federal Aviation Association has authorized at least four drones to fly in restricted airspace over Fort Indiantown Gap, a large military installation in central Pennsylvania about 25 miles from Harrisburg.
The drones are used for training and equipped with several cameras, including one with infrared capabilities, according to the FAA authorization.
Staff Sargent Matt Jones, a spokesman for the Pennsylvania National Guard, said Thursday that the drones - known as "The Shadow" - are used exclusively for training purposes. They never carry weapons and never leave the airspace over the fort, where training exercises take place, he said.
"It's the same as flying the Apache (a military helicopter) around, but we don't load it with Hellfire missiles and fly it over your house," Jones said.

Call To Action
Historic March for Marriage
On March 26th, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the Perry case, which will determine if Proposition 8 - the citizens initiative approved by the people of California in 2008 to protect marriage - is constitutional or not. More importantly, the question of same-sex "marriage" and the right of Americans to protect marriage will be decided.
It is imperative that political leaders, the media, and the culture see that we care about protecting marriage enough to stand up and march for it.
The Pennsylvania Family Council is sponsoring a bus to travel from Lancaster the morning of the march. For more details and to sign up, click here.
The March is being organized by the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) alongside a broad coalition of pro-family organization, state partners, African-American, Latino, Catholic and Protestant leaders. Speakers include Gary Bauer (American Values), Bishop Harry Jackson, Dr. Robert George (Manhattan Declaration), Penny Nance (Concerned Women for America) and Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone.
Here's the schedule of events for the March on Tuesday, March 26th:
- 8:30am - Gather at the National Mall location between 10th Street and 12th Street NW & between Madison Drive NW and Jefferson Drive SW
- 9:30am - March to Supreme Court and then return to the National Mall location.
- 11:00am - 1:00pm - Rally begins at National Mall location.
Please consider the following:
- Attend the Marriage March on the 26th.
- To sign up for the Lancaster bus, click here. For details, contact us at 717-545-0600.
- If you're able to put together another group/bus to attend the march, let us know how we may be able to help in your effort.
- If you're unable to attend, consider passing the invitation along to others who may be able to.
- Pray for the Supreme Court hearing on the definition of marriage and for those planning to attend the march.

Important Announcement from SFL
|
You're probably wondering why you've been getting more emails from me and Sustainable Freedom Lab after having had next to none for quite some time.
Well, the truth is that I've been very busy. As always, I spend enormous amounts of my time researching, writing, and speaking to the public about the threats of Agenda 21 and Regionalism.
I've also been working on important projects behind the scenes.
Now I'm finally ready to reveal the first of these "secret" projects: The DVD version of "Stopping Agenda 21 in Your Community".
Like the title suggests, this DVD program offers step-by-step training on how you can fight back against those who would bring Agenda 21 into your community. The test audience who saw this program during the limited streaming we held last Fall felt it was critical viewing for anyone concerned about the erosion of our property rights.
Click here to read my blog post on the SFL website about our first DVD.

If you've been wanting an interesting, clearly written, how-to-manual for identifying and fighting UN Agenda 21, here it is. Agenda 21--All the information you need to understand what is happening in your town, why it's happening, who is behind it, and what you can do to stop it. BEHIND THE GREEN MASK: U.N. Agenda 21 is 172 pages of truth. Part history, part current events, part hand-to-hand combat, and part blueprint for keeping your freedom, this is one book that you'll put to work immediately. Boots on the ground and all hands on deck is the order of the day. Awareness is the first step in the Resistance.
|
Awareness about Agenda 21 is finally spreading throughout the country, due in no small part to your efforts. But knowing it is there isn't enough. Now we need to educate ourselves on how to combat it. That's where you come in.
American Policy Center has recently released a booklet that explains everything you need to know to start fighting back against sustainable programs both locally and nationally. The booklet is called Special Report: Agenda 21 and How to Stop It and is available in the APC store for only $5.95.
I wrote this 35 page booklet in order to give activists a succinct resource they can refer to if they suspect Agenda 21 or Sustainable Development is being implemented in their area. It includes my own research coupled with incredibly helpful graphics created by Carroll County, Maryland Commissioner Richard Rothschild.
In the booklet you will find answers to several roadblocks that grassroots anti-Agenda 21 activists often face, including a definition of property rights and "Resolution to Protect Citizens' Property Rights," which many concerned citizens are already using to tie the hands of power hungry politicians.
This booklet is a great resource for anyone interested in preserving their property rights. It includes all the information to put up a first line of defense and step by step instructions for how to proceed from there. If you face Agenda 21 or Sustainable development in your area or are simply concerned with the national fight this booklet is a must read.
Click here to order your booklet now!
In Liberty,

Tom DeWeese President - American Policy Center

The store also offers DVDs of past successful conferences and symposiums, books and articles that deal with the issues of sustainability and Agenda 21 and individually packaged manuals and workbooks to aid you in your activism. Has Communist Ideology Overtaken America? Education is crucial. Today I want to share two very interesting lists with you, and rather than adding an extensive amount of my commentary, I want to give you the chance to examine the facts for yourself. It is my opinion that many communist goals have already been accomplished. I also believe that advancement has been made in other areas. But, you owe it to yourself to do your own research. I believe not only in the freedom of speech, but also in the responsibility of free thought. So please don't take my word for it. Examine the facts for yourself.
Again, I want to share two lists with you. The first is a list that was entered into 1963 Congressional Record. The second is the 10 planks of The Communist Manifesto.
If you can't see this happening in America, and a ton of progress being made, then I offer two potential explanations:
- You are one of the "useful idiots" of communist teaching.
- I am one of the "village idiots" that your Mama probably warned you about.
Some of these points will be open for debate and some will not. In some cases it is blatantly obvious that they have achieved their goals. It is even rumored that our own President has deep communist ties. You might want to check that out as well but I will withhold my opinion at this point. Let's just lay it out and you can interpret it.
This list was originally printed in "The Naked Communist" by Cleon Skousen. It was entered into Congressional Record in 1963 as the 45 goals of "The Communist Takeover of America."

Dear Friend,
Melowese Richardson proudly admits that she committed voter fraud for Barack Obama by voting multiple times last November.
But the U.S. Attorney in Ohio refuses to prosecute her!
If crooks like Richardson are allowed to break our election laws, our government is simply inviting even more fraudsters to try to steal our elections.
Please make a donation of $25, $35, $50, $100, $250 or whatever you can afford to help True the Vote keep the pressure on our government to prosecute Melowese Richardson to the fullest extent of the law.
The only way this woman will ever be held to account is if the American people take a stand today and demand JUSTICE!
We need to ratchet up the pressure on the U.S. Attorney in Ohio to prosecute Melowese Richardson to the fullest extent allowed by law.
It is clear to me that this woman is very, very proud of the fact that she broke the law in order to help Barack Obama win the crucial state of Ohio.
She actually admitted that she voted six times!
This is an open-and-shut case of serious vote fraud. Yet, no one has prosecuted her. Nearly one month after bragging about her crime to local reporters, she's still a free woman.
And that is one of the reasons why vote fraud is such a huge problem in America.
Individuals like Melowese Richardson and organizations like ACORN know that even if they are caught breaking the law, the odds of them being punished are very small.
That's why True the Vote is going to make Richardson the poster child of voter fraud. That's why we are launching this campaign for justice.
Please make the most generous online contribution you possibly can right now. We need your help.
If we don't take a stand now and force the government to prosecute this woman, thousands more Melowese Richardsons will pop up next election cycle.
And our entire system of "one person, one vote" will fall apart.
Please help us seek justice. Make the very best donation you can today.
You see, True the Vote is a 100% private nonprofit organization. We don't have a huge bankroll to help pay for campaigns aimed at pressuring government officials to do their jobs.
However, that is exactly what we have to do right now.
So, I'm turning to you. Please help.
Melowese Richardson was one of Barack Obama's infamous grassroots "organizers". She claims to have registered "thousands" of voters for the President. She was also an official "poll watcher" last November.
And she freely and proudly admits to having violated the law in order to help reelect the President of the United States.
This is a national scandal!
We need to make "Melowese Richardson" a household name. We need to force the media to hound the U.S. Attorney about this case. We need to rally thousands of Americans to demand that this woman be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Please make the most generous donation you can.
Please don't let Melowese Richardson escape prosecution.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Catherine Engelbrecht Founder and President
P.S.: If you would like to volunteer to help make sure elections are free and fair in your state, please click here. Being a True the Vote volunteer is simple, doesn't take much time, and you can make a real difference for America!

RedState Morning Briefing
For March 13, 2013
One bit of housekeeping. Yesterday, I messed up the link to the lead story about the conservative fight club and the weenie brigade. You can get that story, still relevant today, right here.
1. Join Bobby Jindal and RedState in New Orleans
Governor Bobby Jindal will be helping us kick off the RedState Gathering 2013 in New Orleans.
We hope you will join us.
As we do every year, the RedState Gathering will be the first weekend of August. This year, that means we will be in New Orleans on August 2nd and 3rd. We'll have a welcome party the evening of August 1st for those who get in town early and you'll want to stay until the 4th. Our agenda will run all day the 2nd and 3rd.
We've invited Bobby Jindal, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Rick Perry, Steve Scalise, Matt Salmon, Ken Cuccinelli, and so many more. We'll have a good mixture of elected officials and potential candidates for the 2014 cycle.
Unlike other similar groups, the RedState Gathering is all about you, the grassroots. We try to get you up close to the speakers, we ask them to take your questions, and we feed you while you're there. It is a very unique event on the right. Less frills, but more thrills and access.
This year's event will be at the Westin New Orleans at Canal Place, which puts it right between the French Quarter and Business District in New Orleans right on the Mississippi River. The hotel rate we have for attendees at the Westin is amazing.
Go to http://www.redstate.com/Gathering2013/ to register. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
2. We're Hanging From the Fiscal Cliff Two news items should shock even Republicans into awareness of potential doom: -The first, news reports that the "Gang of 8" has reached agreement on the "path to citizenship" (Think, 20,000,000 new voters voting 71% Democrat, plus Orwellian biometric ID's and "Brady Checks" for jobs). -The second, an announcement by House Speaker John Boehner on a Sunday talk show that the House would "consider" any gun control approved by the Democratic Senate (whatever "consider" means). The last-ditch solution to both of these Armageddon scenarios is the same: the Hastert Rule, which prevents House consideration of any bill not supported by a majority of the Republican caucus - currently, 117 Republicans. Whatever the media has convinced John McCain to do, surely 117 House Republicans would oppose allowing the GOP to commit suicide. . . . please click here for the rest of the post → 3. Vulnerable Incumbent Democrats Leery of Budget. McConnell Vows "They're Not Getting Another Tax Hike" After neglecting to pass a budget for almost 1,500 days, Democrats finally started revealing tidbits about how they intend to run the nation's finances. With huge deficits and mounting debt, questions of fiscal discipline and balanced budgets abound in DC, and this morning Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) revealed the Democrat's "new" plan: raise taxes. . . . please click here for the rest of the post → 4. Big Government, small people Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) decided to print out all 20,000 pages of ObamaCare regulations, stack them in a single pile, and photograph the result using a chair for reference. It came out looking like this . . . please click here for the rest of the post → 5. Defunding Obamacare is This Easy After the House caved on funding Obamacare in the CR, the fight moves to the Senate. Senator Ted Cruz has taken the lead in fighting Obamacare. For the first time in almost two years we are actually having a discussion about the rising cost of health insurance engendered by Obamacare. Cruz is proposing an amendment to the CR, which is already full of Barbara Mikulski's pork, to defund Obamacare. There has been some pushback from the status quo Republicans who contend that Obamacare cannot be defunded because it is purveyed by mandatory spending. The reality is that the HHS and the IRS will need a substantial sum of discretionary appropriations just to implement the thousands of pages of regulations and the healthcare exchanges. The administrative costs will eat up all of the money that has already been appropriated. They need more funding. Moreover, every budget bill, including this one, contains numerous policy riders that can prohibit specific funding for mandatory programs. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →

Your Doctor To Become 1-Person Death Panel?
A government-funded "mortality index" study that helps doctors to determine whether a patient has a "good chance" of dying within the next 10 years may take on further significance in light of key unreported sections of Obamacare that, KleinOnline recently exposed, may lay the foundations for health-care rationing and even so-called death panels.
Grants from the National Institute on Aging and the American Federation for Aging Research helped pay for the mortality study in question.

Bolton: Israel has 'very short period of time' to strike Iran
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has a "very short period of time" to decide whether to strike Iran's nuclear infrastructure before Tehran possesses nuclear weapons, warned former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton in a radio interview last night.
"Obviously in the short term Israel is focused on forming its own government," stated Bolton.
"But I think assuming it's Prime Minister Netanyahu forming that government he has a very short period of time in which to determine whether Israel will use military force knowing that the United States will not or whether Israel is prepared to allow Iran to get to the point where it has nuclear weapons."

Obama Has Blocked Oil Production
Posted on March 12, 2013 by Conservative Byte
Empty Boast: As we have noted before in our Issues & Insights pages, President Obama has taken credit for an energy boom he had nothing to do with. A government agency now confirms what many have known to be true.
The Congressional Research Service has released a report, "U.S. Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production in Federal and Non-Federal Areas," that corroborates what we've said.
"All of the increase (in oil and natural gas production) from FY2007 to FY2012 took place on non-federal lands, and the federal share of total U.S. crude oil production fell by about seven percentage points," writes Marc Humphries, the government specialist in energy policy who authored the report.
During this period, oil production on federal land fell from nearly 1.7 million barrels a day to 1.6 million. At the same time, the share of overall production on federal lands shriveled from 33% to 26%.

"Americans United to Defend Free Speech"
Please sign our Open Letter to Congress and the State Legislatures!
Most Americans have never heard of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation). They've never heard of UN Resolution 16/18. They're unaware that Europeans have been charged-and even been convicted-for speaking out against the threat of radical Islam.
They don't know that a survey found that 6 in 10 Muslims in America believe criticism of Islam and Muhammad SHOULD BE PROHIBITED. Or that 45% of American Muslims surveyed believe that those who criticize Islam should face criminal charges. These are not Muslims in Saudi Arabia. They're our neighbors here in America.
|
Last night, in a national webcast, we announced "Americans United to Defend Free Speech." Guy Rodgers, ACT! for America Executive Director, documented a long list of threats to free speech, which can be seen on our website. But the most organized threat-UN Resolution 16/18-is actually getting help from our own State Department. (See the Forbes article, "Could You Be a Criminal? US Supports UN Anti-Free Speech Measure.")
There is a rapidly growing chorus demanding the muzzling of free speech, both internationally and in America. This is why we have launched "Americans United to Defend Free Speech." Step One of this effort is our Open Letter to Congress and the State Legislatures.
This letter calls on Congress and the state legislatures to introduce and pass resolutions opposing the implementation of UN Resolution 16/18. Over the next few months, we need tens of thousands of concerned citizens to sign this letter. Tens of thousands. Hundreds of thousands would be even better. We need to awaken people everywhere. And we need to show our elected officials that we are dead serious about opposing this threat to our First Amendment right of free speech. For some time now ACT! for America has been monitoring the growing worldwide demand to suppress speech that supposedly "defames" or "offends" Islam. This demand to criminalize free speech can no longer be ignored. We can't ring the alarm bells loudly enough. Please don't assume that the restrictions on speech that exist in Europe or Canada can't ever happen here. Join us today for Step One of our campaign to oppose the criminalization of free speech by signing our Open Letter. Then forward it to everyone you know. And stay tuned! Thank you.

Fitzpatrick Statement on Seven Fallen American Soldiers in Afghanistan
Intends to address concerns with President Obama this week
LANGHORNE, PA - Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-8) issued the following statement regarding the seven American soldiers fallen in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours.
"In the past 24 hours, our nation has lost seven brave soldiers.
The insider attack that took the lives of two American soldiers is a tragic reminder of the sacrifices being made by our men and women in uniform still fighting in Afghanistan.
After a decade of war these types of green-on-blue attacks, where Afghan forces turn on NATO forces, erodes the trust and confidence of our soldiers working to transition security to Afghan authorities by 2015.
The helicopter crash which claimed five more Americans emphasizes our need to focus on bringing our troops home.
When I last traveled to Afghanistan to better understand the morale of the troops and determine the status of training and transition operations in advance of the scheduled drawdown of U.S. forces, the consistent message I heard was that we must either provide our troops with all the resources they need or begin bringing them home now. That was almost a year and a half ago.
As we begin withdrawing, our warfighters are being asked to do more with less. And this news highlights the dangers they face every day. I hope that we are able to bring them all home to their families quickly and safely.
In recent months, there has been much said about the partisan divisions in Congress and across our country. We will always speak with one voice in advocating for our troops both at home and abroad in the protection of ourselves and foreign allies.
I intend to meet with the President this week and express my concern to provide our troops with every resource they need and expedite their return home."

First Look at the 2014 Ryan Budget
Alison Acosta Fraser | March 12, 2013 at 10:29 am
At first look, the budget unveiled today by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul D. Ryan (R-WI) advances much-needed reforms and importantly accomplishes the crucial goal of balancing the budget within the decade, though this is partially on the coattails of Obama's tax increases. Not a silver bullet, it is more of a stasis budget, rather than a bolder plan that builds on the reforms of previous years.
There are six things that each budget from the House, Senate, and President should accomplish. These are laid out in the Heritage plan, Saving the American Dream, which:
- Balances the budget in less than 10 years, without raising taxes, and keeps the budget in balance thereafter;
- Swiftly overhauls entitlement programs, including Social Security, to guarantee economic security to seniors while making the programs affordable;
- Repeals Obamacare in its entirety;
- Fully funds defense;
- Rolls back discretionary spending; and
- Rolls back recent tax increases with a sweeping, growth-oriented tax reform plan and caps taxes at the historical average of 18.5 percent.
Here's how, at first blush, the Ryan plan measures up:

Growth Agenda: Ryan Budget Balances in 10 Years |
|
by Mike Flynn
This morning, House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan unveiled the latest GOP budget blueprint. The plan cuts $4.6 trillion over the next decade, bringing the budget into balance by 2023. The principal savings in the plan come from a repeal of ObamaCare.
Washington's budget debate is premised on the notion that solving the deficit is complicated and requires a series of unpleasant choices. Ryan's budget blueprint puts a lie to that notion. Current budget baselines assumes an annual 5% increase in federal spending. Ryan's budget holds the annual increase to 3.4%. A yearly increase above the rate of inflation is hardly a step down the path to austerity.

Tuesday, March 12, 2013 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary L. Bauer Ryan's New Balanced Budget Today, House Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) unveiled his revised proposal to balance the budget in 10 years. Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Rep. Ryan explains how it's done:
"On the current path, spending will increase by 5% each year. Under our proposal, it will increase by 3.4%. Because the U.S. economy will grow faster than spending, the budget will balance by 2023, and debt held by the public will drop to just over half the size of the economy."
Sounds simple enough, right? If Washington were functioning normally, the House and Senate would pass their respective plans and work out their differences in a conference committee. But Washington is not functioning normally, and the differences between the House and the Senate are tremendous. For example, Rep. Ryan's budget proposal last year balanced in 23 years. It went nowhere then because the majority in the Senate and the occupant of the Oval Office believed that even taking 23 years to get to balance was too onerous. In addition, Ryan's budget effectively repeals Obamacare. Not surprisingly, Senate Democrats have already declared Ryan's plan dead on arrival. They are working on their own budget that reportedly seeks at least $1 trillion in new taxes. Such a plan would be dead on arrival in the House. So the budget stalemate that has prevailed in Washington for the past three years seems likely to continue. Reforming The Third Rail Now I know for some conservatives introducing a budget proposal that doesn't balance for 10 years is infuriating. On the "Bauer and Rose Show" on Sirius/XM radio we often get callers complaining that they elected their members of Congress to balance the budget this year. NOW! At first glance it appears we have public support to do so. Eighty-three percent of voters believe that spending is out-of-control. But polling also finds that most Americans are unwilling to make the kinds of cuts to popular programs that would be required to achieve a balanced budget now. There is a reason entitlement reform has been called the "third rail" of politics. Touch popular programs like Medicare and Social Security and you risk political death. Many GOP Senate candidates lost last November because Obama's allies ran ads accusing them of wanting to "hack" at those programs. I am in favor of cutting foreign aid to rogue regimes. We should eliminate duplicate programs. There should be strict controls to prevent taxpayer dollars going to illegal immigrants. Government inspector generals should be just as zealous in eliminating waste, fraud and abuse as IRS agents are in squeezing hard-working taxpayers. But even if we do all of those things, we are still on a difficult path due to demographics. Ten thousand people a day are applying for Medicare and Social Security benefits. To propose a budget that makes significant cuts to these programs could easily become political suicide. Rep. Ryan and other conservatives who hope someday to govern the country have a delicate balancing act of their own to perform. They must first explain to the voting public that we want to reform popular programs in order to save them from bankruptcy. Then they have to convince the voters to elect a conservative majority to the Senate in 2014 and to send a conservative president to the White House in 2016. Then there may be a real opportunity to pass a budget that balances and that preserves the safety net. Is The Honeymoon Over? As the budget battles heat up and as President Obama continues his aggressive push for his left-wing agenda, recent polls suggest that the president's honeymoon from his November reelection victory is over. A new McClatchy-Marist poll finds Obama's approval rating has plunged to 45%, while 48% disapprove of his job performance. Moreover, when asked who had the better approach to dealing with the nation's budget deficit, congressional Republicans narrowly edged out the president 44% to 42%. Again, Obama has no mandate for his tax and spend agenda. Republicans may have an opportunity to gain the upper hand if they can articulate the conservative case for pro-growth economic policies and sensible spending reforms. Meanwhile, Pew released an analysis of its recent polling data last week. Among the findings: just 26% of Americans trust the federal government, 53% say the federal government is a "threat to personal rights and freedoms." Those are astonishingly poor figures for a president who promised the most open, transparent administration in history. Islamists Welcome, American Kids Not Yesterday President Obama met with the leaders of ten Arab and Muslim organizations, seeking their input as he prepares to visit the Middle East. Among the organizations represented at the meeting were the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) and the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC). Both of these groups have defended terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah. In addition, the ADC honored "the great Helen Thomas" AFTER her anti-Semitic rant against Israel ended her career in journalism. The idea that these groups are ushered into the Roosevelt Room for personal time with Obama while taxpaying tourists and schoolchildren can't get in the door for a tour is infuriating! By the way, you may remember this relatively famous photo of an Arab journalist clutching the body of his 11 month-old son, allegedly killed by an Israeli air strike last year. Embraced by the left-wing media for its powerful imagery, the photo went viral as Israel's enemies accused it of indiscriminately killing innocent civilians. Many at the time were skeptical, claiming that the evidence did not indicate an Israeli strike. Now a new U.N. report confirms that the baby was killed by a Hamas rocket. Referring to a fraudulent case accusing white college athletes of racism, one liberal journalist quipped, "The narrative was right, even if the facts were wrong." To the left-wing media, the narrative of the photo was right, even if the facts were not. It will be interesting to see how many media outlets report the truth, but I suspect they will be unwilling to acknowledge their own anti-Israel bias.

Democrats to Try to Rush Immigration Bill Through Senate?
Posted: 12 Mar 2013 12:21 PM PDT
(John Hinderaker)
The Daily Caller reports that the Democrats may be planning to rush their immigration bill through the Senate immediately after the Easter recess, in hopes it can pass before voters find out what is in it:
The Senate's Democratic leaders may try to rush a nation-changing, economy-shaping immigration law though the Senate as soon as the Easter recess ends April 8, before the public can even read the bill, say GOP insiders. The GOP's concerns are fueled by the Senate judiciary committee's failure to schedule any hearings so that senators, advocates and the public can analyze the draft bill, which is expected to be several hundred pages long. The pending strategy was highlighted by a recent statement from GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham, the leading advocate for the bill, which could grant amnesty to at least 11 million low-skill immigrants, allow them to bring in their relatives, and also allow companies to bring in millions more workers. "You don't want to leave it hanging out for two weeks to get shot up" by opponents, Graham told the AP.
Of course not! "Shot up by opponents" means debated, and if the bill is "shot up," voters may learn what it says and object, as they did last time Graham and his allies tried to enact "comprehensive immigration reform." So the Democrats want to apply the lesson they learned from Obamacare-vote first, and read the bill later.

Does John McCain have standing to complain about "political stunts"?
Posted: 12 Mar 2013 08:54 AM PDT
(Paul Mirengoff)
Quick, what was the last speech by a Republican that energized the base as much as Rand Paul's filibuster? Some may cite Paul Ryan's dynamic acceptance speech at the 2012 Republican Convention. But the better answer, I think, is Sarah Palin's acceptance speech in 2008.
Palin's speech was brought to us by John McCain, the same guy who now attacks Rand Paul for engaging in a stunt.
In fairness to McCain (and to Palin), his running mate said nothing that he, or other national security conservatives, could have found objectionable. Palin spoke rousingly without promulgating half-baked views or displaying paranoia. Rand Paul flirted with both.
Even so, it's a bit rich to hear McCain complaining about political stunts. In my view, the Palin nomination was, at root, just such a stunt.
I had heard McCain say on his campaign bus, "The Straight Talk Express," that he wanted a running mate who was highly qualified to serve as president and who had the expertise he lacked about economic matters. McCain must have been riding a different "Express" when he picked Palin.
After her Convention speech, Palin's star kept rising with the Republican base, but began to wane with the electorate as a whole. Eventually, it diminished even with the base.
We can only guess what will happen to Rand Paul's star. My guess, which I admit isn't worth much at this point, would be that he will divide the base and never appeal greatly to the electorate as a whole.

Political disruption and its limits
Posted: 12 Mar 2013 08:19 AM PDT
(Paul Mirengoff)
In the aftermath of Rand Paul's filibuster Rick Wilson at Ricochet suggests that "disruption" is the Republican's "path back to power." Rand Paul has shown that disruption is a path to trending on twitter. But is it really a path to power?
Yes and no.
Yes, Republicans would be well-served by disrupting the liberal/MSM narrative. Dynamic young candidates from humble or middle class origins can dent the narrative that Republicans are staid and elitist. But youth is not a prerequisite for disruption. Ronald Reagan was nearly 60 when he began shaking things up on the national stage.
Reagan shook things up with his disruptive ideas. The best example of his outside-the-box thinking occurred when he rejected the traditional Republican emphasis on balanced budgets, achieved in part through high taxation, in favor of promoting growth via tax cuts. This is a bit ironic given the current situation, but there it is.
Not all disruptive ideas are created equal. The ones most likely to provide a "path back to power" will be well-thought-out. And only well-thought-out ideas will enable Republicans to exercise power properly and over a sustained period.
Rand Paul thinks outside-the-box. But his ideas are mostly toned-down versions of his father's views and, when it comes to national security, toned-down versions of the views of Code Pink. They provide a dubious path back to power and a recipe for disaster should power be achieved.
Marco Rubio thinks outside-the-Republican-box on immigration. But his ideas about immigration represent a toned-down (I hope) version of the views of Chuck Schumer. To the extent they provide a path back to power, they do so by pandering to Hispanic voters. As such, they cannot provide a platform for power without additional concessions that eventually would render the Republican Party non-conservative.
But there is one young conservative who quietly has been thinking outside-the-box for years. He rose to prominence (the chair of a key House Committee) years ahead of schedule not by disruptive behavior, but by disruptive thinking founded on the mastery of arcane policy detail.
That young conservative, of course, is Paul Ryan. And his disruptive thoughts go the heart of the central issues of the day (for Republicans) - economic growth, the budget, and the debt.
Frankly, I worry that Ryan's advanced thinking about Medicare and Social Security - the prime examples of his "disruption" -leaves him exposed to effective Democratic demagoguery. That's why I regarded him as a less than optimal candidate for vice president in 2012. It's too early for me to have formed an opinion as to whether Ryan would be sub-optimal, from an electoral standpoint, in 2016.
But if, as I suspect, disruptive thinking grounded in knowledge represents the path back to power for Republicans, we should be thinking more about Paul Ryan and less about Rand Paul and Marco Rubio.

The Administrative State in One Photo
Posted: 12 Mar 2013 06:15 AM PDT
(Steven Hayward)
The then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (and may she remain forever a former Speaker) took a lot of ridicule during the debate over the passage of Obamacare when she said that we'd have to pass the bill to find out what's in it. I thought the critics had this all wrong. It was, in fact, the most intelligent thing she ever said, albeit unintentionally. What counts is, as Machiavelli put it, the "effectual truth" of the matter. And the effectual truth of modern American government is that Congress no longer enacts laws in the meaningful sense of the word. Instead, they pass wish lists, and delegate the actual lawmaking to unelected administrators.
Obamacare regs--so far.
Simple test: if Congress passes a statute-even one that is 1,600 pages long like Obamacare, but the law can't go into effect as written, it is not really a law at all. The simple proof is the photo here that Sen. Mitch McConnell's office has released, showing the 20,000-plus pages of regulations issued so far for the implementation of Obamacare. "Regulation" is just a multi-syllabic word for "law," after all. The point is, administrators-the slightly nicer term for "bureaucrats"-now govern us much more than our elected lawmakers do. One almost wonders why we have elections at all. (Actually, many bureaucrats actually do wonder this.)
Of course, it remains to be seen whether Obamacare can survive the incomprehensible deadweight this tower of paperwork represents. And this is only for one recent "law." A similar tower of regulations is being produced right now for the other legislative monstrosity from Obamaland, Dodd-Frank.

Tools of Jihad, part 1
Posted: 12 Mar 2013 05:33 AM PDT
(Scott Johnson)
The photograph of BBC Arabic editor Jihad Masharawi holding the shrouded body of his 11-month-old son, Omar, went viral within hours of the commencement of Israel's Operation pillar of Defense in November 2012. The photograph depicted Masharawi outside Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. The young Masharawi's death was attributed to an Israeli airstrike. The photograph was featured on the Web and in newspapers around the world. The Daily Mail published a series of photographs of Jihad Masharawi enacting his grief for the cameras.
In our first post of several on the photo, on the morning of November 15, I asked whether the photo was for real and raised the question whether it was an instance of Terrorist Theater, citing my Weekly Standard article "He didn't give at the office" on the phenomenon. Now the advance copy of a UN report on the hostilities in Gaza now suggests that the death of young Masharawi resulted from an errant Hamas rocket. The report suggests that young Masharawi was hit by shrapnel from a Hamas rocket intended for Israel.
How are the journalists who publicized the story as advertised by Masharawi dealing with the UN report? I intend to take a look in a series of posts this week of which this is the first.
I first read about the report yesterday in a Times of Israel article. The Elder of Ziyon blog noted the report last week. Yesterday the Associated Press covered the report.
On November 15 the Washington Post featured the photograph on page 1 above the fold with the attribution of responsibility to Israel (image below). Washington Post foreign affairs blogger Max Fisher had a companion post with thoughts on the deep meaning of the photo. (Fisher's post includes photos forwarded to him by Danahar.) Fisher returned on November 16 with yet more deep thoughts in which he acknowledged that "[s]upporters of Israel's airstrikes countered by suggesting that Misharawi's home was bombed by an errant Hamas strike."
Washington Post ombdudsman Patrick Pexton subsequently devoted a column to complaints about the photograph. Everything Pexton asserted directly or indirectly as a matter of fact was wrong. And remember, this guy was the newspaper's ombudsman. The Post has some explaining to do.
The editors of the Post have yet to take up the subject of their use of the photo. So far they are exercising their right to remain silent and letting the AP article cited above, posted on its Web site, do their talking for them.
A late arriving spirit of skepticism descended on Max Fisher. On Twitter yesterday Fisher held out hope that the UN report was not referring to Masharawi. He tweeted: "Lots of pro-Israel readers sending this to me, but not sure I buy that this UN report is talking about Omar Mishrawi." (The AP article clarifies the report on this point.)
Last night Fisher addressed the UN report. In his post last night, Fisher goes Rashomon on the subject:
The question of which "side" bears responsibility for Mishrawi's death is of course important, if at the moment not fully known, in its own right. It's also, in some ways, part of a larger battler over symbolism and narrative in the Israel-Palestine conflict. As I wrote at the time, the much-circulated photo of Mishrawi was championed by critics of Israel's policies toward the Palestinian territories, held up as a microcosm of what they argued was an unjust conflict that disproportionately affected Palestinians. A small but troubling minorities of those critics suggested the Israeli military does not care about, or even willfully targeted, Palestinian children.
Fisher and the Post remain oblivious to the phenomenon of Terrorist Theater. They therefore make themselves the willing tools and useful idiots of the jihad. Elder of Ziyon makes the same point more elaborately. He writes:
It doesn't take a prophet to know that many of the rockets from Gaza have always landed inside Gaza. In fact, right before the outset of Cast Lead, when Hamas declared its own operation Oil Stain, two Gaza girls were killed by a Qassam rocket. It was reported by Reuters. That was hardly an isolated incident, although the world media ignored the many injuries and damaged houses that Gaza rockets inflicted on Gaza. The problem, that Fisher is trying to deflect, is that the reporters from his newspaper and all the other media purposefully ignored this fact that bloggers like me knew very well. They assumed that any civilian killed in Gaza must have been killed by Israel. Any other thought did not even cross their minds. That is why this story is so popular on social media. It has nothing to do with this case being being a microcosm of the conflict. It is entirely about people being sick of being lied to by an arrogant media. It is about the fact that the supposed expert reporters on Gaza didn't consider a simple fact about Qassam rockets that they should have known intimately. It is because they were too lazy to think critically - which is their job. After years of seeing that Palestinian Arab spokespeople routinely lie, that they try to manipulate the media, that they would never admit any mistake on their side - and after years of seeing that practically every time the Israeli side of the story ends up being proven correct - the media still reflexively blames Israel, time and time again, for things that aren't Israel's fault. It doesn't take prescience to know this. It takes simple observation. This is why this story strikes a chord, Max - because the media dropped the ball, in a way that it has dropped it countless times beforehand. Sadly, instead of learning that lesson, you are engaging in a magician's redirection trick to take the focus away from the truth.

Rock and Roller Cola Wars, I Can't Take It Any More
What's extraordinary about this decision is that in our Mad Hatter world of runaway government, it feels extraordinary: a judge telling the government it doesn't have the power to do what it wants, cries of "it's for the children" be damned.
New York City's plan to ban large sugary drinks from restaurants, movie theaters and other establishments was invalidated by a judge on Monday, the day before the new law was to take effect.
State Supreme Court Justice Milton Tingling in Manhattan called the regulation "arbitrary and capricious" and declared it invalid after the American Beverage Association and other business groups had sued the city challenging the ban.
The decision was a blow to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who had touted the ban as a way to address what he has termed an obesity "epidemic." Beverage manufacturers and business groups had called the law an illegal overreach that would infringe upon consumers' personal liberty.
"We plan to appeal the decision as soon as possible, and we are confident the Board of Health's decision will ultimately be upheld," Michael Cardozo, the city's chief lawyer, said in a statement.
Jacob Sullum has more: "Beverages exempt from the city's 16-ounce serving ceiling often have more calories per ounce than exempt beverages, even though fighting obesity is the official rationale for the restrictions. Tingling also noted that only certain businesses are covered by the regulations: restaurants, coffee shops, food carts, and concession stands. Convenience stores and supermarkets, meanwhile, would have been free to sell soda servings as big as customers wanted, including 7-Eleven's Big Gulp, the epitome of effervescent excess. The upshot would have been 'uneven enforcement even within a particular city block,' Tingling said. He deemed the drink diktat 'arbitrary and capricious' because 'it applies to some but not all food establishments in the City, it excludes other beverages that have significantly higher concentrations of sugar sweeteners and/or calories on suspect grounds, and the loopholes inherent in the Rule, including but not limited to no limitations on re-fills, defeat and/or serve to gut the purpose of the Rule.'"
Ace notes: "Starbucks will continue selling sugary coffee drinks under the 'half milk' loophole, a special little loophole created by Bloomberg and his minions to make sure that the Crusading Liberal White People who support this ban are actually not affected by this ban. If Starbucks had been included in the ban, the shrieking from Bloomberg's Crusading Liberal White People supporters would have been deafening, and the thing would have been killed. So they made certain that the ban didn't apply to White People's Big Gulps, even though they contain nearly as much sugar and much more caffeine than Other People's Big Gulps."
Jason Mattera: "Mike Bloomberg should be forced to reimburse every business that had to trash their Big Gulp cups."
Doug Powers, writing at Michelle Malkin's place: "Oddly enough, I think Bloomberg has two yachts named 'Arbitrary' and 'Capricious.' Now the city's stuck with a bunch of 17-ounce inspection cups that the mayor will probably have converted into three bedroom loft apartments."
Tom Maguire offers us a rallying cry: "There will come a day when sugary sodas are utterly stigmatized. There will come a day when no responsible adult will consume a soda pop, or give one to a child. But this is not that day. This day, we fight!"
Hey, Bloomberg, tomorrow's not looking so hot, either.
Sequester Scare Talk Crashes and Burns
Well, that bit of White House messaging doesn't seem to be working so smoothly:
The budget cuts in Washington have not hit home in America, at least not yet.
A plurality of Americans think federal spending cuts will have no effect at all on them or their families, according to a new McClatchy-Marist Poll. At the same time, as many Americans think the cuts will have no effect or a positive effect on the overall economy as think the cuts will hurt the economy, the survey found.
No, wait, it gets better:
Nearly half - 49 percent - of registered voters said the current cuts will have no impact at all on them or their families. Another 39 percent said the cuts would have a negative impact, and 10 percent said they would have a positive impact.
Independents and Republicans are more likely to see no effect headed their way.
Among independents, 52 percent expect no effect, 39 percent expect a negative effect, and 7 percent expect a positive effect.
Among Republicans, it's 52-36-8.
Democrats are evenly split, 41-41 on whether the cuts will be negative or have no impact on their families. In a surprise, 14 percent of Democrats expect a positive impact for themselves, well more than independents or Republicans.

But here comes another round of scaremongering:
Twenty-three air traffic control towers in California are among more than 200 nationwide scheduled to close April 7 as the Federal Aviation Administration begins imposing $600 million in federal budget cuts.
It was unknown which traffic control towers would be affected when the automatic federal budget cuts in the so-called sequestration kicked in March 1, but the FAA last week released a list of airports, mainly small and medium-sized, that will be affected.
AAAAH! IT WILL BE JUST LIKE DIE HARD 2! SOMEBODY GET FRED THOMPSON! AAAAH!
But in the middle of a New Jersey newspaper's coverage of the terrifying and scary cuts ("Dark Skies Ahead"), there's this little detail:
Despite the fact that most airports in the United States do not have air traffic control towers, Essex County and Trenton-Mercer are near big international airports that have constant departures and arrivals, which cause crowded skies.
Most airports don't have control towers? So just how many tower-less airports are out there? Oodles, to use the technical term:
According to the 2011-2015 National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS), released by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), there were over 19,700 airports in the U.S. Of these, 5,170 airports are open to the general public with 503 airports offering commercial service. The majority of public airports - 2,829 - are designated as reliever or general aviation airports versus commercial service.
This article from 2000 states that "only about 350 have towers that are manned by FAA air traffic controllers."
Clearly, a tower-less airport cannot be a deathtrap, or else we would be hearing about crashes at these tower-less airports all the time.
Oh, and how has the Federal Aviation Administration been spending its money in recent years?
Airports have spent $3.5 billion in federal money since 1998 on projects the Federal Aviation Administration rated as low priority because they do little to improve the most pressing needs in the nation's aviation system, a USA TODAY analysis shows.
The money comes from a program that is supposed to improve aviation safety. Priority goes to projects such as runways, taxiways and beacons.
But the program also has funded terminals at little-used airports, hangars to store private jets, and parking areas that are free to customers, according to the analysis of FAA records obtained under the Freedom of Information Act . . .
Pellston Regional Airport in Michigan used $7.5 million in federal funds to build a terminal with stone fireplaces and cathedral ceilings. The airport averages three departures a day.
What, no granite countertops?
Besides, aren't these the guys who are always getting caught sleeping on the job?
- A controller at a Miami regional tower fell asleep during an overnight shift. This regional center is responsible for controlling air traffic for most of Florida, as well as parts of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean.
- One controller slept for five hours while working a midnight shift at a Tennessee airport tower.
- A supervisor at Washington, D.C.'s Reagan National Airport fell asleep for nearly a half hour during a night shift. At the time, the supervisor was the only air traffic controller on duty in the tower.
- An air traffic controller has been caught sleeping on the job -- while a plane carrying a critically ill patient was trying to land at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport in Nevada.
- Similar reports at Westchester County Airport in New York.
I'll bet the sequester has these guys losing sleep.
A High Tide of Taxpayer Money Going to one of Soros's Favorite Groups
Can you stand another "your tax dollars at work" story? You may need blood-pressure medication after this one:
The Tides Foundation is a favorite charity of such big-name liberal donors as Teresa Heinz Kerry (ketchup heiress and wife of Secretary of State John Kerry) and Barbra Streisand. The two have given Tides more than $8.5 million over the years.
And Tides has a lesser-known benefactor: You. From 2009 to 2011, the most recent years for which data is available, the government has given Tides some $28 million in grants paid for by American taxpayers.
Tides says it's working to "promote and support emerging social change and educational programs." In fact, its programs are a checklist of liberalism's most ambitious agenda: the Open Society Institute of George Soros, AFL-CIO, the Iraq Peace Fund, the Arab American Action Network, American Civil Liberties Union, the pro- Castro groups United forPeace and Justice and Center for Constitutional Rights, along with groups opposing free trade and gun ownership while advocating green energy and government-funded abortion.
The only silver lining is that federal grants are only a slice of the Tides funding; "every year, from Tides HQ, the organization pushes $300 million through a network of hundreds of left-wing groups." Watchdog.org notes, "Its latest tax documents show combined net assets of $215,755,973."
ADDENDUM: Courtesy Alex Pappas, potential Senate candidate and actress Ashley Judd assesses the moral value of Apple products:
My electronics, received as gifts or purchased, profit armed militias and support slavery. I am financing mass rape as I enjoy these ridiculously Global North ultra-efficiencies and conveniences, for large scale rape is the preferred predation mining interests use to humiliate and terrify local populations, in order to control resource areas. The UN notes that virtually every mine in DRC is militarized. This means little to no tin, tantalum, and tungsten is mined free of brutal exploitation, extortion, violence, rape, rape, rape.

Pro-Amnesty Groups Target Congress this Week
Call Your Members TODAY!
|
The pro-amnesty lobby is mobilizing its base this week, organizing a national call-in campaign to Congressional offices to urge Members to grant amnesty and work authorization to the 11-12 million illegal aliens in the United States.
Scheduled to take place March 12 through March 14, the call-in campaign is the latest attempt by the pro-amnesty lobby to drown out the voices of hard-working Americans who oppose granting a free pass to law-breakers.
Going by the name "Interfaith Worker Justice," the organization spearheading the campaign says it is "made up of coalitions, committees and community groups of interfaith worker advocates, congregational members and clergy." Notably, the organization is funded by pro-amnesty entities such as the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the Ford Foundation.
We need your help NOW to counter these voices. With 22 million legal Americans unemployed or looking for full time work, we must prevent special interests from dictating our immigration policy! We need to work harder than the opposition to make sure Congress does not pass an amnesty bill. Call your Senators and Representative NOW and tell them to OPPOSE AMNESTY! Tell them:
- You want immigration ENFORCEMENT, not another amnesty.
- Amnesty legislation rewards those who broke U.S. immigration laws and only encourages more illegal immigration.
- U.S. immigration policy must meet the needs of hard-working Americans-not those of special interests!

A Cup of Soda in Hell
Posted: 11 Mar 2013 08:09 PM PDT
The great theme of every overrated writer in the past twenty years has been the interconnectedness of things. Butterflies flap their wings in China and famine kicks off in Africa. A man gets on a plane in Sydney and another man jumps off a balcony in Paris. You can get your interconnectedness fix from Thomas Friedman's New York Times column as he marvels at the flattening of the world or any one of an endless number of fictional tomes in which strangers from around the world collide and influence each other's lives.
The interconnectedness of things is not just the theme of the next TED talk you'll watch or the next Wired article you'll read. It's the theme of policy as well. Pull one string and everything changes. Policy is no longer about making things happen by doing them, it's about finding the precursor to them and doing that and when that doesn't work, finding the precursor to that.
The growth of government means that everything is interconnected and instead of trying to cut the cost of health care by trimming back the bureaucracy, you ban sodas to fight obesity in the hopes of eventually cutting the cost of health care. It's the sort of thing that sounds smart when it's made into the theme of a book that discusses how connected everything else is to everything.
It's stupid in real life, but who pays attention to real life anyway?

Are liberals/Democrats demonstrably mentally ill?
Mar 12, 2013 06:13 am | Coach Collins
by Derrick Hollenbeck, staff writer
We have heard liberalism aka Democrat-ism described as a mental illness. A little research seems to prove this observation. You need not be a goateed psychiatrist with a German accent to conclude liberals/Democrats are anti-social misfits. See for yourself, see how well liberalism/Democrat-ism fits into the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) criteria for identifying the mentally maladjusted.
While we usually think of "Psychopaths" as the occasional notorious serial killers they are more common than we imagine. Nevertheless, the unfortunate over use of the term "psychopath" in popular culture has led people to believe they only exist in movies. This isn't true. Statistics tell us up to 3% of men and 1% of women are psychopaths. The majority of psychopaths find ways to restrain themselves not for concern about us but for fear of being discovered and punished for doing the vicious things they want to do.
Some not all but some ... Continue Reading:Are liberals/Democrats demonstrably mentally ill?

Sheriff Joe withstands death threats and the criminal dealings of the Obama Regime

Just how much more can one man take? America's real sheriff, the one doing what his constituents have asked him to do, Sheriff Joe Arpaio has received a threat against his life in the form of a violent online rant sent from Mexico even as he lies hospitalized with a broken left shoulder. The 80 year old Republican peace officer also faces a fall recall after he was elected to an historic sixth term in November! And Arizona is bracing for more crime resulting from the release of 300 to 500 illegal aliens into the state's southern border area as Eric Holder and his Department of Justice ignore their sworn duty to protect American citizens threatened daily by hordes of invaders. Of course, many believe the number of released illegals will be closer to 2000, their being back on the street having been conveniently blamed on the sequester. (1)

At a meeting that lasted just less than 90 minutes, Obama was peppered by questions from Sens. News from The Hill:
Senate Dem budget includes nearly $1 trillion in new taxes By Erik Wasson
The first budget from Senate Democrats in four years includes nearly $1 trillion in new taxes but would not balance the budget.
The blueprint unveiled by Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) on Tuesday to her Democratic colleagues would also turn off the sequester and replace those spending cuts with a 50-50 mix of tax increases and spending cuts.
The budget would dedicate $100 billion to economic stimulus in the form of infrastructure spending and job training. Once the sequester cuts are turned off, Murray's budget appears to reduce deficits by about $800 billion, using the Congressional Budget Office's baseline. The Murray budget does not contain net spending cuts with the sequester turned off.
The details of Murray's budget came hours after House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) released his budget, which reduces tax rates and slashes spending much more deeply that Murray's budget.

Mika Brzezinski's bizarre soda ban rant: Sugar is poison!
MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski has never been labeled an intellectual powerhouse, but today she took her intellectually challenged opinions to new depths of stupidity (or madness perhaps?). Glenn reacts HERE.
