FEMA clearly is fast becoming the Obama administration's secret, in-country military operation that is scaring citizens out of their wits. A video narrated by Dale Bohannan has popped up online with photos of what first appear to be porta-potties. But on closer inspection, the black plastic containers are what the narrator reveals to be as many as 125,000 outsized casket liners that are in no way there to service the needs of live American citizens! (1)  

Bohannan drove down a newly cut road through a soybean field in Madison, Georgia, and spoke with the field's owner who told him the Center for Disease Control (CDC) owned these coffin liners and was leasing his land for their storage! "These are cremation containers for multiple bodies-patent # 5,425,163-burnable, (and) generate very little pollution. The Transportation Security Administration is once again under fire, this time for allegedly detaining a wheelchair-bound 3-year-old girl, taking away her stuffed doll and ordering the girl's parents not to videotape TSA agents patting her down.

The girl's father, Nathan Forck, told Fox News Radio's Todd Starnes that the TSA treated his daughter like a "criminal."

"And by extension, they were treating us as criminals," he added.

Last week, Missouri Democrats introduced a bill that would ban semi-automatic rifles and give law-abiding gun owners 90 days to turn in their firearms to law enforcement or become felons. This week, a GOP state representative has turned the tables to make a point.

Rep. Mike Leara (R-St. Louis) introduced legislation Monday that would make "any member of the general assembly who proposes legislation that further restricts an individual's right to bear arms" guilty of a class D felony.

Comcast, which recently acquired NBC Universal, has quietly decided to remove advertisements promoting firearms from its cable network, and gun retailers aren't happy about it.

A Michigan company that handles the advertising for Michigan-based Williams Gun Sight and Outfitters contacted TheBlaze regarding the change, stunned that it couldn't re-air a commercial they played last fall due to the new policy.

John Kupiec, president of the advertising agency Canadian American Corp., told us over the phone Monday that when they recently tried to buy ad time, a Comcast representative informed them that as of February 8 of this year, the network would no longer accept advertising from companies promoting firearms or fireworks on any network, during any time period.

"They've been a longtime advertiser [but] they said it doesn't matter who they are," Kupiec related, "if they sell firearms they will not be allowed to advertise firearms on their airwaves."

Important Dates:

• February 15 - March 27, 2013 - Debt Ceiling:  Sometime in this date range we are expected to reach the debt ceiling (Technically we have already hit the debt ceiling, but this is the date range when we will reach a point where the Treasury can no longer implement "extraordinary measures" to meet our spending obligations.
• February 28, 2013 - Sequestration: The "fiscal cliff" bill created a new manufactured crisis that will happen sometime at the end of February. This is when the sequestration can was kicked down the road.
• March 31, 2013 - Continuing Resolution: The current Continuing Resolution that the government is operating under expires on March 31. This means that they will have to pass a CR between now and then.
• April 15, 2013 - Budget Resolution: This is the date by law in which both Houses should have a budget resolution passed. We are already hearing that the President is late in submitting his budget, the House is reporting that they will not meet their deadline for a budget, and the Senate... well they haven't passed a budget in over 1,350 days.

Senator Orrin Hatch Drops a Bombshell at Jack Lew's Confirmation Hearing

At last we know how the grease is funneled to that revolving door between Wall Street and Washington. One only gets a $940,000 bonus from Wall Street's Citigroup if you can land a "full time high level position with the United States Government or a regulatory body." It can't be just a part-time job, mind you; and you can't be rank and file. Citigroup's dangling carrot will only pay $940,000 if the company can add a "high level" government mover and shaker to their gold-plated Rolodex.

 

This was the bombshell dropped by Senator Orrin Hatch yesterday in Jack Lew's confirmation hearing for one of the highest offices in the land - Secretary of the U.S. Treasury who will also head the body that makes critical decisions impacting Citigroup - the Financial Stability Oversight Council. (Lew held an executive position with Citigroup at the time of its collapse.)

 

Hatch made the disclosure as follows:

"First, could you explain what you did in 2008 for Citi that warranted payment to you of close to $1 million, most of which was a bonus. Second, what was it about your performance that merited your bonus from a company that was being propped up by taxpayer money and are there any records of your performance assessment - or are there any assessments of your performance. Third, your employment agreement included a clause stating that 'your guaranteed incentive and retention award' would not be paid upon exit from Citigroup but there was an exception that you would receive that compensation 'as a result of your acceptance of a full time high level position with the United States Government or a regulatory body.' Now is this exception consistent with President Obama's efforts to 'close the revolving door' that carries special interest influence in and out of the government?"

 

Public shame has clearly lost its utility as a deterrent to repugnant behavior when it comes to Wall Street. Jack Lew proved the point yesterday. Without offering an apology or the return of the $940,000 bonus paid with taxpayer's funds, the unflappable Lew calmly and politely answered the questions.

 

Unfortunately, his answers lacked both substance and credibility. One of Lew's many jobs at the collapsing division of Citigroup he headed was overseeing the Human Resources Department. But on the topic of his own personal performance assessment, this is what he told the Senate chambers:

 

"I'm not familiar with records that were kept so I don't have access to things that I don't know about." How can one not know about performance reviews when one oversees Human Resources?

As for his compensation, Lew said: "I do believe it was comparable to compensation for people in positions like mine in the industry."

 

While it's true that a lot of bailed out Wall Street firms paid employees obscene bonuses with taxpayer money, it's unlikely that there are a lot of employees that were contractually bound to get those bonuses only upon moving through the revolving door to a top post in Washington. Lew brazenly ignored that question completely as he did with many other uncomfortable questions.

Mark Ferrandino, Democratic Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives, claims that sexist remarks made by one of the members of his caucus were taken out of context. The comments, made by State Democratic Representative Joe Salazar, sparked an immediate backlash against the legislator and the Democratic leadership via social media outlets.

Salazar's comments, which trotted out the highly offensive idea that women are incapable of determining a threat to themselves due to their emotions, have yet to be denounced by any member of the Democratic leadership in Colorado. Saving 1 Billion People From Themselves

The West is almost as in love with improving the world, as the Muslim world is with conquering it. These two contradictory impulses, the missionary and the warrior, come together in the Clash of Civilizations.

The Muslim world has two approaches to the West; underhanded deceit and outright terror. The practitioners of the former are considered moderates and the latter extremists. The West has two approaches to the Muslim world, regime change and love bombing. With regime change we bomb their cities to save them from their rulers and with love bombing we shamelessly flatter and appease them in our own cities to save them from themselves.

 

Westerners worry a great deal over who runs the Muslim world. Muslims do not care very much who runs Western countries. They prefer weak liberal Western leaders to strong ones, but they do not believe that there is truly a moral difference between them. Even a Hussein in the White House has not improved America's ratings in the Muslim world.

Muslims are religiously and culturally antagonistic to the West. Whether a John McCain or a Barack Hussein Obama is in the White House; America is still a great non-Muslim power. That very fact, in contradiction to the promises of the Koran and its deity, will continue to bring forth a xenophobic response no matter how much America flatters the Muslim world.

Westerners focus their animus on Muslim leaders, on a Saddam, a Gaddafi or an Arafat-- not recognizing that the hostility comes not from the leaders, but from the people. We can remove all the leaders of the Muslim world and replace them with muppets, and it won't noticeably change the underlying bigotry of the Muslim world. And very soon the muppets will also start chanting, "Death to America" because it's the popular thing to do.

Regime change, whether through armed force or democratic revolutions, won't save the Muslim world.

As most of you are aware, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Pennsylvania adopted a list of legislative priorities for 2013:

Public Sector Pension reform

Right to Work

NDAA nullification

Prevailing wage reform

No New Taxes/tax increases

Surveys have been distributed to all 27 Republican state senators and 111 state representatives (see attached.)

So far we have gotten answers returned by Representatives Grell and Everette and Senator Eichelberger.

It would be extremely helpful if Republican legislators would hear from their constituents with regard to these surveys!

Please call your Republican representative and senator and ask him/her to please fill out our survey and return it to us.  Let him or her know that you are interested in his/her positions on these issues.

You can be certain that the other side will be making their calls and sending their emails!

Obama Still In Campaign Mode

We're just days away from the looming sequestration cuts, which politicians on both sides of the aisle claim they want to avoid. But rather than coming up with solutions, Barack Obama delivered another campaign-style stump speech today defending big government at a highly-staged White House event.

As he has done so many times in the past, the president even used first responders as a backdrop for his demagogic remarks. The implication was clear: If you don't support his demand for even more tax hikes, then you want people's homes to burn down because firefighters might be laid off by the sequester.

Among his remarks, the president said, "These cuts are not smart. They are not fair. They will hurt our economy." That's an odd statement for Obama to make -- sequestration was his idea and he signed the legislation that authorized it!

Responding to Obama's call for more tax hikes, Speaker Boehner said:

"Today the president advanced an argument Republicans have been making for a year: his sequester is the wrong way to cut spending. That's why the House has twice passed legislation to replace it with common sense cuts and reforms that won't threaten public safety, national security, or our economy. But once again, the president offered no credible plan that can pass Congress - only more calls for higher taxes. ...

"Replacing the president's sequester will require a plan to cut spending that will put us on the path to a budget that is balanced in 10 years.  To keep these first responders on the job, what other spending is the president willing to cut?"

Pain At The Pump

Your growing pain at the pump was a lead story on NBC's evening news broadcast last night. Gas prices are at a four-month high, up 45 cents a gallon in the past month, and even topping $5.00 a gallon for premium gasoline in some areas. USA Today notes that these higher prices are coming at a particularly bad time for many Americans already struggling with higher winter utility bills and smaller paychecks resulting from the fiscal cliff deal.

There are a number of factors behind the sudden price spike, such as reduced oil production by OPEC nations and refinery shutdowns. More domestic oil production and more refineries would help. But if the radical left gets its way, neither of those things will ever happen.

Consider the Keystone XL pipeline as one example. This pipeline would create thousands of jobs and bring more oil from Canada to the market. The massive construction project has been under review for four and a half years. The Obama Administration has already delayed the project once, and new plans are awaiting the administration's approval.

Last month a bi-partisan coalition of 53 senators urged President Obama to approve the Keystone pipeline. To most Americans, the pipeline is a no-brainer. More jobs and more oil from an ally is a win-win scenario.

But over the weekend tens of thousands of left-wing demonstrators, led by 9/11 "truther" Van Jones, marched in Washington, D.C., to protest construction of the pipeline. Other speakers denounced the pipeline as a "carbon bomb."

I'm curious to know just how those thousands of holier-than-thou environmentalists got to Washington last weekend. According to the organizers, they came from at least 30 states. How many of them arrived in the nation's capital in their solar or wind powered cars?

By the way, these climate change alarmists probably would have appreciated a little global warming. They showed up on the coldest day of the year. Factoring in the wind chill, the temperatures ranged from the single digits to the low-teens!


Obamacare, The Econony And You

If you need another reminder about the serious adverse effects of Obamacare, consider this column in yesterday's Financial Times. It's not new information, but it once again confirms that Obamacare is holding back job creation and may threaten your ability to keep your current health insurance.

According to the report, more companies are considering cancelling their employer-provided health insurance and simply paying the fines. David Dillon, CEO of Krogers grocery stores, said:

"If you look through the economics of the penalty the companies pay versus the cost to provide coverage, the penalty's too low, or the cost of coverage is too high, or the combination is wrong. If [policy makers] get those things too far out of balance, everybody will have to reconsider their position on that point, including us."

Spending Cuts Are Happening, One Way or Another

Federal budget cuts called "sequestration" are scheduled to hit in just 10 days. The sequestration cuts are not perfect-they're a blunt instrument to cut spending, rather than a deliberative plan that sets priorities, trims entitlements, and cuts other spending. But they are law.

It would be better to replace them with smarter cuts, but the reality is that Washington has to start cutting spending now. Real program reforms and a balanced budget are the only way to solve our continuing fiscal crises. So it is critical that Congress keep its word and follow through on these spending cuts to prove it is serious about bringing our budget into balance over the next 10 years.

Now that the March 1 deadline is approaching, the President is urging Congress to offset the sequestration budget cuts with more tax increases.

That's simply unacceptable, says Heritage's Grover M. Hermann Senior Fellow in Federal Budgetary Affairs, Patrick Louis Knudsen: "President Obama has already pocketed a $618 billion tax increase, so simply holding the line against taxes is a given."

Lawmakers shouldn't be fooled by the President's rhetoric on a "balanced" approach to sequestration or any other budget issue-that simply means he's looking to raise taxes again.

Instead, they should be focusing on true balance-balancing the federal budget in the next 10 years. Producing a budget would be a start, but balancing that budget is the way to put the country back on track. Knudsen explains:

Government spending and debt are both too high, and this threatens all Americans with a weaker economy and a lower standard of living. Every opportunity to reduce spending and put the government on the path to a balanced budget must be taken. Anything less is a path to defeat.

We need spending cuts that are targeted to the programs that need reforms-the entitlements that are the major drivers of our growing deficit.

Sequestration leaves many programs like Social Security, welfare, food stamps, and Medicaid untouched, while having devastating effects on national security. Trying to use defense cuts to balance the out-of-control entitlement spending while we still face growing threats (Russia, China, Iran, and al-Qaeda affiliates) is a fool's errand that will create a hollow military and do nothing to fix economic troubles.

But if Congress does not replace the sequestration cuts with smarter cuts-like eliminating Obamacare funding or other ineffective programs-then the sequestration cuts will be our first step toward getting serious about federal spending.

New York Higher Education Committee Approves Tuition Assistance for Illegal Aliens
