Quote:
"Is it reasonable to expect wisdom from the ignorant? Fidelity from the profligate? Assiduity and application to public business from men of a dissipated life? Is it reasonable to commit the management of public revenue to one who has wasted his own patrimony? Those, therefore, who pay no regard to religion and sobriety in the persons whom they send to the legislature of any State are guilty of the greatest absurdity and will soon pay dear for their folly."

Let Freedom Ring June 28 2011 Kitty Werthmann
Kitty Werthmann tells of her experience in Nazi Germany as a young girl. Her warning is clear and based on historical fact... let history not repeat itself.
When I had my gangrene gallbladder taken out and spent 10 days in the hospital. I had home nurse visits for two weeks and was asked if I had guns in the house. I respond that if I did I would not tell them. So the below has some merit.
FYI, I am passing this along... there are comments from two other people that have also been asked if they keep guns in the house. The nurse just kinda slipped it in along with all the other regular questions. I told her I refused to answer because it was against the law to ask.
Everyone, whether you have guns or not, should give a neutral answer so they have no idea who does and who doesn't. My doctor asked me if I had guns in my house and also if any were loaded. I, of course, answered yes to both questions. Then he asked why I kept a loaded gun close to my bed. I answered that my son, who is a certified gun instructor and also works for Homeland Security, advised me that an unloaded, locked up gun is no protection against criminal attack.
The Government now requires these questions be asked of people on Medicare, and probably everyone else.
Just passing this along for your information: I had to visit a doctor other than my regular doctor when my doctor was on vacation.. One of the questions on the form I had to fill out was: Do you have any guns in your house?? My answer was None of your damn business!!
So it is out there! It is either an insurance issue or government intervention. Either way, it is out there and the second the government gets into your medical records (as they want to under Obamacare) it will become a major issue and will ultimately result in lock and load!!
Please pass this on to all the other retired guys and gun owners... Thanks, from a Vietnam Vet and retired Police Officer: I had a doctors appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found out something very interesting that I would like to pass along. While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions: 1. Did I feel stressed? 2. Did I feel threatened? 3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone?
The nurse then informed me that if I had answered yes to any of the questions I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security.
Looks like they are going after the vets first. Other gun people like retired law enforcement will probably be next. Then when they go after the civilians, what argument will they have? Be forewarned and be aware. The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun owners potential terrorists. Whether you are a gun owner, veteran or not, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED !
If you know veterans and gun owners, please pass this on to them. Be very cautious about what you say and to whom.
They are coming for us, so unless you're an ostrich, do not stick your head in the sand..........
Legal Immigrant's Must-Watch Testimony Against Gun Control: 'Few Saw the Third Reich Coming Until It Was Too Late'
The Blaze | Jason Howerton | Jan. 31, 2013 12:40am
During a public hearing on gun violence in Hartford, Conn. on Monday, a legal immigrant by the name of Henson Ong issued a passionate defense of the Second Amendment and argued that gun control simply "does not work." The video of Ong's testimony has already surpassed 130,000 views on YouTube.
"Forgive me, English is not my first language. I am a legal immigrant and I am an American by choice," he began, prompting applause from the audience.
Do You Know the History of Executive Orders? Plus, Find Out Which President Has Issued the Most
The Blaze | Jason Howerton | Jan. 30, 2013 10:48pm
During his show on TheBlaze TV Wednesday, Glenn Beck hosted author and historian David Barton to discuss the history of executive orders and also how President Barack Obama is using them today.
Curious by nature, Beck did not have a shortage of questions regarding these presidential orders. He wanted to know how they can be used and why they were even created in the first place.
"The thinking on it is it is really a presidential tool to fulfill two clauses in the Constitution," Barton explained.
Major 'Glitch' in Obamacare Could Affect 500,000 Kids in a Big Way
The Blaze | Jonathon M. Seidl | Jan. 31, 2013 7:20am
WASHINGTON (AP) - Some families could get priced out of health insurance due to what's being called a glitch in President Barack Obama's overhaul law. IRS regulations issued Wednesday failed to fix the problem as liberal backers of the president's plan had hoped.
As a result, some families that can't afford the employer coverage that they are offered on the job will not be able to get financial assistance from the government to buy private health insurance on their own. How many people will be affected is unclear.
NBC News just can't stop with its ongoing crusade to deliberately and maliciously manipulate content in order to push Obama's agenda. Just how shamelessly and desperately dishonest is the Peacock Network? Let us count the ways:
4. In August of 2009, Contessa Brewer sliced and diced a photograph so it wouldn't look like a black man attended a Tea Party carrying a firearm.
And just today, NBC was caught in yet another malicious edit, this time to make Second Amendment advocates look as though they did something as heinous as heckling the heartsick father of a child who lost his six-year-old son in the Sandy Hook massacre. You can watch the full video and NBC's science fiction adaptation side-by-side here.
All of this has happened under the watch of Stave Capus (pictured above), who's not only the president of NBC News, but also the "the arbiter of issues involving ethics, style, standards, safety and other matters that affect the Division's journalistic bearing."
But Capus has obviously done nothing to stop the ongoing and flagrant fraud committed by his subordinates -- and in some cases his anchors.
How many Dan Rather moves like this does NBC News get to make before some action is taken? And if Capus isn't going to do something, maybe there's one person above him with a smidgen of character.

Pennsylvania
HB357 - yes, 357 - is ready to roll. Support it.
The bill includes felony charges against anyone - including federal agents - who try to enforce any type of gun control restriction within state borders.
Passage would prohibit the federal government from regulating "a personal firearm, a firearm accessory or ammunition that is owned or manufactured commercially or privately in this state and that remains exclusively within the borders of this state." Felony charges for federal agents who violate the state law.

February 15 - March 27, 2013 - Debt Ceiling: Sometime in this date range we are expected to reach the debt ceiling (Technically we have already hit the debt ceiling, but this is the date range when we will reach a point where the Treasury can no longer implement "extraordinary measures" to meet our spending obligations.
February 28, 2013 - Sequestration: The "fiscal cliff" bill created a new manufactured crisis that will happen sometime at the end of February. This is when the sequestration can was kicked down the road.
March 31, 2013 - Continuing Resolution: The current Continuing Resolution that the government is operating under expires on March 31. This means that they will have to pass a CR between now and then.
April 15, 2013 - Budget Resolution: This is the date by law in which both Houses should have a budget resolution passed. We are already hearing that the President is late in submitting his budget, the House is reporting that they will not meet their deadline for a budget, and the Senate... well they haven't passed a budget in over 1,350 days.
Any questions, holler.

The major political battles of 2013 are about to commence.
Last year, the Association successfully lobbied against the phony "school choice" bill, SB 1, and supported HB 1330--the budget neutral expansion of the EITC scholarship fund . A version of HB 1330 was attached to another bill, approved by the Assembly, and signed into law by Governor Tom Corbett.
In addition, very early on, the Association backed the PA Voter ID bill--which also passed the Assembly and was signed into law.
Finally, the Association successfully lobbied the respective Governors of NJ and PA, Chris Christie and Tom Corbett, against establishing state health insurance exchanges--a fundamental requirement of ObamaCare.
This year, the Association will focus its limited funding, energy, and resources on a handful state and federal issues.
In this letter, we will emphasize important state battles shaping up in Harrisburg, Trenton, and Dover.
Harrisburg
Pennsylvania Right to Work is topic #1 as State Rep. Darryl Metcalfe and other legislators announce the reintroduction of aRight to Work bill during today's 11 AM Harrisburg Presser (details below).
Next on the agenda is State Rep. Matt Baker's Opt Out of ObamaCare legislation. This bill cleared the House Health Committee last session--only to whither on the vine. We must pass the bill in this session and persuade Gov. Corbett to sign it into law.
Also, we have been working behind the scenes with State Reps. Stephen Barrar and Darryl Metcalfe to enact legislation allowing any registered Pennsylvania voter to poll watch at any precinct within the boundaries of the Commonwealth.
Trenton
In New Jersey, we will press Governor Christie to veto proposed bills seeking to increase the minimum wage and restrict 2nd Amendment Rights.
Dover
In Delaware, we will join efforts to stop the numerous gun control bills that have been introduced in the state legislature.
In the coming days, there will be plenty of opportunities for us to demonstrate our commitment to conservative values.
From tomorrow's Right to Work press conference to Dom Giordano's Salute Our Troops (Presidents Day, February 18), there are two terrific events being hosted by four great organizations.
1. Right to Keep & Bear Arms--A Peaceful Demonstration
When: Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, 10 AM
Where: State Capitol, 125 West State Street, Trenton, NJ
Sponsored by the New Jersey Second Amendment Society
2. 2nd Annual Salute Our Troops! Live Broadcast and Luncheon
When: Presidents Day, Monday, February 18, 2013, 11 AM
Where: Crowne Plaza Valley Forge, 260 Mall Blvd, King of Prussia, PA
Before signing-off, I would like to acknowledge one of the saddest anniversary dates in our nation's history.
Forty years ago today, Roe v. Wade became the law of land--overturning some form of legal protection for unborn children in every state in the union.
Since that tragic day, it is estimated that well over 50 million lives have been ended through the controversial practice of abortion.
Whether you are pro-life or pro-choice, as a conservative, you must
recognize the disastrous legal consequences of the US Supreme Court's decision which made a mockery of states rights.
We can all agree that the Warren Court's decision demonstrated a virulent contempt for the US Constitution and its 10th Amendment.
We can also agree that taxpayer funded abortion is a grave moral affront to those among us who believe that the sanctity of innocent human life is paramount.
On behalf of the Association Board of Directors,
Teri Adams

Metcalfe Seeks to Make Federal Gun-Grabbing A Criminal Offense in Pennsylvania
HARRISBURG - State Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) today announced his legislation that would make any new federal gun control laws unenforceable within the Commonwealth.
"Passage of my legislation will send the message that there will never be additional gun control, anywhere in Pennsylvania," said Metcalfe. "Whether by White House executive orders, congressional fiat, or judicial activism, we will never allow the left to benefit from the wicked acts of murderers in order advance their senseless gun-grabbing agenda which would only succeed in replacing one of our most sacred personal liberties with the chains of government tyranny."
Similar to legislation most recently introduced in Wyoming and Texas, Metcalfe's Right to Bear Arms Protection Act (House Bill 357) would:
Prohibit enforcement of any new federal registration, restriction or prohibition requirement for privately owned firearms, magazines and ammunition.
Require the state of Pennsylvania, including the Office of Attorney General, to intercede on behalf of Commonwealth citizens against any federal attempt to register, restrict or ban the purchase or ownership of firearms and firearms accessories which are currently legal products.
Final enactment of Metcalfe's Right to Bear Arms Protection Act would mean that anyone - even federal agents - who try to enforce any type of gun control restriction within state borders would face arrest and being charged with a felony offense.
"The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned," said Metcalfe. "Article 1, Section 21 of the Pennsylvania Constitution makes it crystal clear that no level of government, especially the federal government, has any authority whatsoever to impose senseless restrictions on law-abiding firearms owners, or worse, the confiscation of legally owned firearms. The purpose of my legislation is to force any gun-grabbing federal official to count the costs of unconstitutionally disarming or denying Pennsylvania citizens their God-given right to keep and bear arms."
Metcalfe is also calling on all Pennsylvania citizens who support Constitutional liberty to attend Pennsylvania's annual Second Amendment Action Day on Tuesday, April 23, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the State Capitol Rotunda, and to sign the all-new Armed Pennsylvania: Say to No Gun Control petition by visiting RepMetcalfe.com.

AAA warns E15 gasoline could cause car damage
Gary Strauss, USA TODAY November 30, 2012
E15, a higher blend of ethanol and gasoline, has rolled out in a handful of states. But its use in older vehicles is generating warnings from AAA, which says E15 could be harmful to pre-2012 vehicles.
The AAA says the Environmental Protection Agency and gasoline retailers should halt the sale of E15, a new ethanol blend that could damage millions of vehicles and void car warranties.
AAA, which issued its warning Friday, says just 12 million of more than 240 million cars, trucks and SUVs now in use have manufacturers' approval for E15. Flex-fuel vehicles, 2012 and newer General Motors vehicles, 2013 Fords and 2001 and later model Porsches are the exceptions, according to AAA, the nation's largest motorist group, with 53.5 million members.
"It is clear that millions of Americans are unfamiliar with E15, which means there is a strong possibility that many may improperly fill up using this gasoline and damage their vehicle," AAA President and CEO Robert Darbelnet tells USA TODAY. "Bringing E15 to the market without adequate safeguards does not responsibly meet the needs of consumers."
On Monday, President Barack Obama nominated former Republican Senator Chuck Hagel to be his next Secretary of Defense in succession to Leon Panetta. Chuck Hagel's record is one of being a frightening and dangerous apologist for terrorist groups like Hamas and Hizballah, as well as for the Iranian terrorist regime, while being arguably one of the most vicious and hostile critics of Israel. The ZOA believes that appointing Chuck Hagel as Defense Secretary would also serve to confirm the fears that many have that President Obama is no friend of Israel and is not serious about stopping Iran's nuclear program.
ACTION:
Please call your U.S. Senators to urge President Obama not to nominate Chuck Hagel and to vote against his appointment if Hagel's name goes forward for Secretary of Defense. You can reach all U.S. Senators through the Capitol Hill switchboard: 202-224-3121.

BACKGROUND:
In 2009, Hagel signed a letter urging President Obama to begin direct negotiations with Hamas, a U.S. designated terrorist group committed in its Charter to the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews, a position President Obama has not taken up.
In a 2006 interview with former Middle East negotiator Aaron David Miller, Hagel said that "the Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people" on Capitol Hill ('Hagel named to intelligence board,' Jewish Telegraphic Agency, October 29, 2009).
In July 2006, at the outbreak of the Lebanon war, Hagel argued against giving Israel the time to break Hizballah, urging instead an immediate ceasefire ('Key Republican breaks with Bush on Mideast,' CNN.com, July 31, 2006).
December 2005: Hagel was one of only 27 senators who refused to sign a letter to President Bush urging him to pressure the Palestinian Authority (PA) to ban terrorist groups from participating in Palestinian legislative elections.
June 2004, Hagel refused to sign a letter urging President Bush to highlight Iran's nuclear program at the G-8 summit and was one of only two senators in to vote against renewal of the Libya-Iran sanctions act.
November 2001: Hagel was one of only 11 senators who refused to sign a letter urging President Bush not to meet with the late Yasser Arafat until his forces ended the violence against Israel.
In July 2001, Hagel was one of only two senators to vote against extending the original Iranian sanctions bill.
October 2000: Hagel was one of only four senators who refused to sign a Senate letter in support of Israel.

Yes, it's true: You can support ACT! for America-at no cost to you!An important message from Guy Rodgers, Executive Director
The next time you make an online purchase of almost anything, you could be helping ACT! for America-at no cost to you.
Sound too good to be true? It isn't.
All you have to do is sign up for "iGive"-a program that's been around since 1997.
The concept is as powerful as it is simple.
Every time an iGive member makes an online purchase at over 1,000 brand-name stores, a percentage of that purchase is donated to that person's charity of choice.
And with the holidays just around the corner, you could be helping ACT! for America with every gift you buy!
The concept isn't new. In the mid-1990s many supporters of non-profit organizations signed up with long distance telephone programs where a percentage of their bill was donated to their charity of choice.
But our investigation of iGive has convinced us that this program has an ease of use and sophistication that we find remarkable.
Imagine booking a hotel room on Orbitz-and having 1.6% of that purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
Or buying an Xbox at Best Buy-and having 1.2% of the purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
The same goes for buying merchandise at Amazon, Bath and Body Works, Advance Auto Parts, Game Stop, Kmart, Home Depot, Holiday Inn, Old Navy, NASCAR Superstore, Overstock.com, Mattel, J.C. Penney, Office Max, QVC, Radio Shack, Shoe Carnival, Pottery Barn-and on and on the list goes.
In other words, every time you make a purchase of merchandise you would buy anyway, you would be financially supporting ACT! for America!
All you have to do is log on below and follow the directions to create your account and download the iGive "button." (Note: downloading the "button" is key).
When I was first informed of iGive, I was skeptical. I've seen these ideas come and go. Often, they're too good to be true. Or there are all kinds of glitches and problems.
So I spent hours researching.
I looked at online customer reviews (which were very good). I read all of iGive's fine print, such as Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. I signed up and even emailed two tech support questions to see how good their tech support was.
And the more I dug, the more I liked what I saw. For instance, both of my tech support questions were responded to within 60 minutes. How often does THAT happen?
As you know from our Patriot Partner program, we're all about encouraging a lot of people to each do a little-to do something. When everyone does a little, together we accomplish a lot.
So consider what could happen.
If just 1% of ACT! for America members each purchased just $400 in merchandise in 2013, from all the available outlets, and the average percentage donated to ACT! was 1.5%, the total amount donated back to ACT! for America would be...
...$15,000. That's a lot of money, wouldn't you agree?
And if you were one of those ACT! for America members, it wouldn't cost you one thin dime to help ACT! for America receive $15,000.
If this idea really caught on, and eventually 5% of our members made purchases with iGive, that $15,000 could explode to $50,000, $75,000 or more!
What's more, that 1.5% figure might be low. Many of the merchants offer percentage donations that are much higher. One printer inkjet company I looked at offered 13%!
Every merchant website you visit tells you right at the top what percentage of your purchase price will be donated to ACT! for America.
Just think what we could accomplish with an extra $15,000, $50,000 or $75,000 in our fight against radical Islam!
One of the things I most wanted to know was their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Check it out for yourself. I confirmed the terms with a company representative. And I like what I learned. As security-conscious as I am, I have no hesitation using the service-and I'm already doing so.
I know there are many people out there who would love to support ACT! for America, or give more than they're giving, but in these tough economic times they simply can't.
Well, here's a way that everyone who believes in our mission can easily support what we're doing-at no cost to them.
It doesn't get any better than that.
There are already chapter leaders who have signed up for the program, and the feedback I have been getting from them has been all positive. They love the idea and many of them are already using it.
So please, join me and these ACT! for America chapter leaders who are already signed up and using the iGive service.
Yours for a safe and free America
Guy Rodgers

Individuals sympathetic to the Muslim Brotherhood's sinister agenda have infiltrated the Obama Administration.
Brainwashed by the Muslim Students Association and then propelled in to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the David Horowitz Freedom Center tracks the path of Huma Abedin and other Muslim sympathizers who have navigated their way into positions of great influence in the Obama Administration. Everything is revealed in the explosive new Freedom Center pamphlet, "The Muslim Brotherhood in the Obama Administration," written by Frank Gaffney, national security expert who served as Assistant Secretary of Defense under Ronald Reagan.
The David Horowitz Freedom Center is committed to educating the public on the Muslim Brotherhood's sinister Agenda. That is why we are giving away this pamphlet for FREE.
This is a major push forward for APC in the battle to stop Agenda 21, and I need you to look it over and sign your approval to it.
Let me explain this vital project.
Across the nation, individuals and local activists have been working to stop the ravages of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development. And we have won some astounding victories.
We've made Agenda 21 a major issue.
But we are vastly outgunned by the Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are pushing this agenda from the UN all the way to your city council.
They are flooding state capitals with lobbyists, money, and a flood of issue documents. They are rich, powerful and well organized.
We aren't. We are a rag tag band of dedicated activists with passion for the cause of freedom and little else.
That has got to change.
Our activists need the tools necessary to win.
That's just what my "Stop Agenda 21" project is designed to provide.
NATHAN HARDEN is editor of The College Fix, a higher education news website, and blogs about higher education for National Review Online. A 2009 graduate of Yale, he has written for numerous publications, including National Review, The Weekly Standard, The American Spectator, The New York Post, and The Washington Times. He was a 2011 Robert Novak Fellow at the Phillips Foundation, a 2010 Publius Fellow at the Claremont Institute, and is author of the recent book Sex and God at Yale: Porn, Political Correctness, and a Good Education Gone Bad.
The following is adapted from a speech delivered at Hillsdale College on September 20, 2012.
In 1951, William F. Buckley, Jr., a graduate of Yale the year before, published his first book, God & Man at Yale. In the preface, he described two ideas that he had brought with him to Yale and that governed his view of the world:
"I had always been taught, and experience had fortified the teachings, that an active faith in God and a rigid adherence to Christian principles are the most powerful influences toward the good life. I also believed, with only a scanty knowledge of economics, that free enterprise and limited government had served this country well and would probably continue to do so in the future."
The body of the book provided evidence that the academic agenda at Yale was openly antagonistic to those two ideas-that Buckley had encountered a teaching and a culture that were hostile to religious faith and that promoted collectivism over free market individualism. Rather than functioning as an open forum for ideas, his book argued, Yale was waging open war upon the faith and principles of its alumni and parents.
The University of Chicago Medical Center has announced plans to turn Ronald Reagan's childhood home in Chicago into a parking lot for President Barack Obama's library.
The Commission on Chicago Landmarks previously denied the Gipper's home landmark status in 2012, according to The Washington Times, and the university subsequently scheduled demolition to begin in January. Officials claim the home does not reach landmark status because it is not architecturally significant and the nation's 40th president did nothing notable while living there.
With the wrecking balls in place, it could be 90 days or less before the home is knocked down. In its place, a plaque would serve as the marker of the historic spot, according to university representatives.
Reagan was 4 when his family moved to the 832 E. 57th St. home in the Hyde Park District of the Windy City.
Obama administration issues regulations for individual mandate By Sam Baker
The Obama administration released new regulations Wednesday to implement the unpopular individual mandate in Obama's signature healthcare law.
The individual mandate requires most taxpayers to either buy insurance or pay a fine to the Internal Revenue Service. It's one of the most politically unpopular provisions of the healthcare law, and was at the core of last year's historic Supreme Court case over the healthcare law.
The IRS and the Health and Human Services Department (HHS) issued proposed regulations Wednesday that outline the process for determining whether taxpayers are subject to the mandate, whether their insurance coverage meets federal standards and whether they're exempt from the coverage requirement.
I appreciate the opportunity to respond to Erick's post last night regarding the principles for immigration reform I have recently developed. Before diving into the details of the plan, I want to take a moment to point out how the debate about immigration reflects positively on the conservative movement in general. Unlike the left, whose default tactic is to attack and destroy the personal character of those who disagree with their views, the conservative movement is capable of accommodating a vibrant internal debate on important issues solely on the merits. RedState has always been a welcoming forum for that sort of debate.
First, let me identify the problem we face. We have a legal immigration system that doesn't work, we don't have an effective system to enforce our immigration laws, and we have by some estimates as many as 11 million human beings living in the United States without the proper immigration documents in a state of de facto amnesty. It's a problem that has both political and economic ramifications on our nation.
On the political front, a growing number of voters of Asian and Hispanic descent have been convinced by the left that conservative opposition to immigration reform equates to being anti-immigrant. This is unfair, and it is untrue. But they have pulled it off and, as a result, our ability to convince these fast-growing communities that the principles of limited government and free enterprise are better for them than big government and collectivism has been impaired.
The economic ramifications, however, are even more serious. For example, our technology sector creates roughly 120,000 computer engineering jobs a year, but our universities only graduate about 40,000 students a year in that field. The long term answer, of course, is to get more American students to graduate in this field. But the immediate problem is that, in the absence of an immigration system where these workers can be brought here, these jobs are sent overseas to them. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
2. South Carolina School Choice
With National School Choice Week kicking off January 25th, conversations surrounding the topic have been buzzing. While I have always been a supporter of school choice, it is only recently that the subject has taken a personal turn. With one child excelling in public school and the other struggling, having choices in their individual educational needs will make a lifetime's worth of difference.. . . please click here for the rest of the post →
3.Bob Menendez's foreign underage prostitution story stubbornly not going away.
Background: just before the election a story broke alleging that Democratic Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey had taken advantage of the hospitality of one of his campaign contributors to go down to the Dominican Republic (via the aforementioned contributor's private plane) and use the services of at least two prostitutes (one of whom may or may not have been underage). Worse, he allegedly refused to pay said foreign partially-underaged hookers the full amount that Menendez allegedly promised to pay - and, let me note again this in passing: to patronize a prostitute is hardly a moral act. But if you must do this, pay what you said that you were going to pay. There is a difference between being uncouth, and being a cad.
4.A Rejoinder to Senator Rubio on Illegal Immigration
In the very first line describing the Gang of 8's "four legislative pillars" it says their plan would "create a tough but fair path to citizenship for unauthorized immigrants currently living in the United States..."That means amnesty. Those words-"path to citizenship for unauthorized immigrants" mean amnesty.Again, you might feel it's a prudent idea, but it is amnesty nonetheless. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →

The story of Islam is a murder mystery. It's not the kind of murder mystery where you wonder who did it, but when it will end. The detective peering with his magnifying glass at a scrap of fiber left behind on the carpet or a curly piece of hair caught in the door isn't really trying to sort out who did it. He knows who did it. The great mystery that consumes him is how to make the killer stop.
This isn't a story about right and wrong. Right and wrong aren't serious propositions in the arid deserts where the murderer comes from. Right is power. Wrong is not having power. A man is right because he has power. A woman is wrong because she doesn't. A Muslim is right because he has power. A Christian is wrong because he doesn't.
When a woman has power and a man doesn't, then the man has been dishonored. When a Christian has power and a Muslim doesn't, then the Muslim has been dishonored. There is only one answer for dishonor, death. Kill the one who has dishonored you so that you can feel powerful again. The men with the magnifying glasses will call it extremism, but it's much simpler and much more complicated than that.
The powerful need not compromise. They have honor. Those who have no power but do not compromise also have honor. The extremist does not compromise whether in power or out of it. Therefore he always has honor. The extremist is willing to die for the power and honor of Islam.
Islam is never powerless, but is always compromised in some way short of perfect purity. Perhaps it fails to drive out all the non-Muslims and doesn't force women to cover their eyes. Or maybe it tolerates chess and kite flying. Even the crudest Salafist finds some human norm short of total and complete extremism. He compromises and the seed of that compromise gives birth to a movement that will not compromise even on that. Each Islamic movement carries within it the seeds of its own extremist counter-movement and that movement too will carry its own seeds of death. The Islamic revolution devours its own children forever for honor's sake.
PLEASE CALL YOUR U.S. SENATORS: REGISTER YOUR OPPOSITION TO CHUCK HAGEL AS OUR NEXT SECRETARY OF DEFENSE!
Tomorrow, Thursday, January 31st
, the Senate Armed Services Committee is scheduled to consider the nomination of former Republican Senator Chuck Hagel as our next Secretary of Defense. If the Committee approves the nomination, the full Senate will then cast a vote on this matter.
ACT! for America opposes the nomination of Mr. Hagel to this highly important position within the U.S. Government.
We feel there are a host of reasons why his appointment would be dangerous to the security of our nation. Our level of concern led us recently to express our opposition directly to the leadership of the Senate Armed Services Committee via a formal letter.
Now, we need the voice of the American people-the Senate's constituency-to be heard on this issue. Every U.S. Senator needs to understand the level of opposition that exists to Mr. Hagel's nomination-and some compelling reasons for that opposition.
We offer below only some of Mr. Hagel's actions and statements over the years that deeply concern us.
Soft on Iran - Mr. Hagel consistently has been soft on the Iranian regime, repeatedly voting against Iran sanctions, and in 2005 even proposing that Iran play a role in the shaping of the new Iraqi government. At a time when the Iranian regime is blatantly flaunting its efforts to bolster its nuclear weapon capabilities, this approach by our nation's Secretary of Defense is not only short-sighted, but also extremely dangerous.
Favors Dialogue with Terrorist Regimes and Groups - In 2009, Mr. Hagel stated his belief that the U.S. should negotiate with the regime of Bashir Al Assad of Syria. He has said the same about our nation's approach to Hezbollah and Hamas. Further, in 2009, Mr. Hagel sent a letter to the President stating that Israel must begin open negotiations with Hamas.
Hostile Toward Israel - There are numerous examples of Mr. Hagel's hostility toward Israel and the Jewish-American community. He has stated that the "Jewish Lobby" is a problem on Middle East issues, and in 1999 he was the only member of the U.S. Senate not to sign a letter condemning growing anti-Semitism in Russia. As yet another example of his views on Israel, in 2006, when Hezbollah entered Israel, killed two Israeli soldiers, and fired thousands of rockets on Northern Israel, only one Senator-Chuck Hagel-publicly admonished Israel for defending itself.
Supports Abolishment of Nuclear Weapons - At a globally dangerous period, Mr. Hagel endorses Global Zero, a movement that seeks the abolition of nuclear weapons. In fact, according to a recent AP article by Robert Burns, Chuck Hagel "would be the first to enter the Pentagon as a public advocate for sharply reducing the number of U.S. nuclear weapons-possibly without equivalent cuts by Russia."
These are but a few examples of his disconcerting approach to national security and defense-related issues, but even with these few examples-need we say more?
Our nation simply cannot afford an administration official who has this nonsensical approach to our efforts around some of the most dangerous parts of the world. The only way to have any chance of stopping it is to speak out.
** Important and Time-Sensitive Action Item **
Please take a moment today and tomorrow to call your two U.S. Senators.
Politely, but firmly, let them know that you are a constituent and that you are very much opposed to the nomination of Chuck Hagel as our next Secretary of Defense.
NOTE: If you need help locating your legislators, visit our Contact Congress page by clicking HERE. Type in your zip code where indicated to locate your U.S. Senators. Once located, click on your Senator and you can then see his/her contact information, including the phone number of the Washington, DC office.
If you know the name of your U.S. Senators, you also can call the Congressional Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be patched through to those particular offices.
Again, please make your calls NOW and forward this action request to everyone you know who shares your concern. As a constituent, your voice and opinion is tremendously powerful. You CAN make a difference.
Thank you for all that you do.
REMEMBER, YOUR VOICE COUNTS! IF EACH OF US DOES JUST A LITTLE, TOGETHER WE CAN ACCOMPLISH A LOT!
Every day that American Pastor Saeed sits in Iran's Evin Prison represents a potential death sentence.
Fox News described Evin Prison like this: "Beatings, torture, mock executions and brutal interrogations are the norm at Evin prison, where for four decades the anguished cries of prisoners have been swallowed up by the drab walls of the low-slung lockup in northwestern Tehran."
Thanks to you, however, our government is finally starting to mobilize. Yesterday Senator John Kerry, just before his confirmation as Secretary of State, issued a clear and personal call for the release of Pastor Saeed, a U.S. citizen.
Now is the time to call for an international response. Our petition demands that the international community stand up for human rights and demands that Iran comply with treaties it voluntarily and willingly signed.
Your voice helped free Pastor Youcef. Your voice can help free Pastor Saeed. Act now.
In a newsworthy act of political cowardice, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta ran through the Pentagon's exit door as he announced he is striking down the 1994 Combat Exclusion Law. Leaked emails from defense contractor refers to chemical weapons saying 'the idea is approved by Washington'
Obama issued warning to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad last month that use of chemical warfare was 'totally unacceptable'

Leaked emails have allegedly proved that the White House gave the green light to a chemical weapons attack in Syria that could be blamed on Assad's regime and in turn, spur international military action in the devastated country.
A report released on Monday contains an email exchange between two senior officials at British-based contractor Britam Defence where a scheme 'approved by Washington' is outlined explaining that Qatar would fund rebel forces in Syria to use chemical weapons.
Barack Obama made it clear to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad last month that the U.S. would not tolerate Syria using chemical weapons against its own people.
More Horrific Hagel Statements - Israelis Keep "Palestinians Caged Up Like Animals," Iran Should Not Be Isolated, Supports Fatah/Hamas Merger
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has pointed to further, alarming statements made by President Barack Obama's nominee for Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, and urged senators to vote against confirming him in that office.
The far-left J Street, which present itself as a pro-Israel group, has now released the video of Hagel's speech to its 2009 conference, in which Hagel said that he opposed isolating Iran through diplomacy and sanctions, saying, "How in the world do we think isolating someone is going to bring them around to your way of thinking?"
Hagel also subscribed to the discredited 'linkage' argument, which contends that the Middle East can be greatly tranquilized and U.S. relations with Arab states enhanced if the U.S. pressures Israel into a peace agreement with the Palestinians. Hagel said, "The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is central, not peripheral, to U.S. vital security interests in combating terrorism, preventing an Iranian nuclear weapon, stability in the Middle East and U.S. and global energy security."
Echoing the views of hostile anti-Israel figures Brent Scowcroft and Zbigniew Brzezinski, Hagel suggested imposing a peace agreement on Israel, saying, "I think we are getting close to the time where something has to be laid down here on this."
Hagel also called for a Fatah-Hamas merge, saying, "No peace will be possible nor sustainable as long as the Palestinians remain a house divided." He did not mention any conditions for Hamas
Also, Hagel seemed to refer, like Israel's Arab enemies, to Israel's capital being Tel Aviv, not Jerusalem, when said, "It's always difficult for leaders to step forward, either in Ramallah, Tel Aviv, Riyadh or Cairo." ('Sen. Chuck Hagel at the first J Street Conference,' Youtube, January 29, 2012). Other than Tel Aviv, all the other cities named by Hagel are Arab capitals.
Additionally, a report in the Washington Free Beacon has unearthed a Hagel statement that appeared in a Nebraska newspaper, the Lincoln Journal Star, on January 12, 2003, in which Hagel said that Israel was "keep[ing] Palestinians caged up like animals" ('Hagel in 2003: Israel Keeps "Palestinians Caged Up Like Animals,"' Washington Free Beacon, January 9, 2013).
ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, "These newly unearthed statements by Hagel simply reinforce the fact that Hagel has a virtually unrivaled record of hostility to Israel, bigotry towards Jews and gays, disbelief in the importance of a strong U.S. military, indulgence of Middle Eastern terrorist groups like Hizballah and Hamas, and antipathy towards any conceivable measure - economic or military - for preventing Iran becoming a nuclear power if negotiations fail.
"These statements afford further reasons for the Senate to vote against confirming Chuck Hagel as Defense Secretary and we urge senators to do so."
The Heritage Foundation has released the following statement:
America's heritage of immigration has fueled our nation's strength and diversity, yet our immigration system has become so politicized and dysfunctional that it causes untold personal tragedies, strains the fiscal capacity of public services in many states, and prevents many from pursuing the American Dream. Complex, comprehensive legislation based on back-room deals never works, and the Senate immigration proposal announced this week and echoed yesterday by President Obama-to the extent that it repeats the mistakes of the past-will further polarize Americans, fail to solve the real policy problems, and make matters worse.
Immigrants come to our country for freedom and economic opportunity. We are concerned that many aspects of the framework for comprehensive reform will undermine the very foundations that make for America's exceptional success. Policymakers should refrain from committing to such broad statements before the actual legislative language is available for public review. A proposal that would grant individuals who are in this country illegally a pathway to citizenship violates the rule of law and is unfair to those who have obeyed our immigration laws.
The Heritage Foundation believes that America's immigration system must be reformed through an open and public step-by-step, problem-solving approach that unites Americans and creates a system that welcomes immigrants, protects our sovereignty, encourages assimilation, and expands opportunities for everyone. Once such common-sense reforms are in place and working, lawmakers can determine how to respond in a fair, compassionate, and constitutional way to those who have come to our country illegally.
In 2004 liberal writer and native Kansan Thomas Frank published his smugly title indictment of the intelligence of Kansans because the state had become such a reliable conservative Republican state. Yes Kansas has inflicted the phony Kathleen Sebelius and that is no minor infraction, but generally Kansas has refused to bow at the altar of liberalism and that has driven defectively wired liberals like Frank up the wall.
Now Kansas has another nasty surprise for liberals. The Sun Flower State's Governor Republican Sam Brownback and its legislatures which are both lopsidedly controlled by Republicans want to do away with the State's income tax. The Republicans in Kansas weren't intimidated by Barack Obama's victory last November. They held the reins of power and fully intend to drive the state in a manner they hope will make it a model for other states to follow.
Yesterday, Breitbart News reported that consumer confidence had dropped to its lowest level in almost two years. But in some cases, the good guy having a gun can mean the difference between his life or death. Fortunately, Georgia law allowed Ryan Moore to carry the gun that saved his life.

Purging The Ghost Of Bill Clinton's Economics From The Holy Spirit Of Barack Obama
Jan 30, 2013 12:21 pm
One of the more interesting and regrettable ideological developments over the past eight or so years has been the Democratic Party's repudiation of Bill Clinton's economic policies (a repudiation, fortunately for Clinton, that does not require rejecting the Big Dog himself, nor renouncing credit for his economic successes). What form does the Clintonomics-purging take in [...]
The Senate Judiciary Committee today began hearings on legislation aimed at limiting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding American citizens. The committee began the hearing with an emotionally powerful statement from former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot and critically injured two years ago by a madman.
In his opening statement, Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA), the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, went straight to the core of some of the left's key talking points. Here are some of his remarks:
"The 1994 assault weapons ban did not stop Columbine. The Justice Department found the ban ineffective. Scholars have indicated that refining or expanding such legislation will not cut gun violence. ...
"We hear that no one needs to carry larger magazines than those that hunters use to shoot deer. But an attacking criminal, unlike a deer, shoots back. ...
"Contrary to what you may have heard, Congress has never prohibited [the Center for Disease Control] from researching gun violence. Rather, Congress prevented federal research to 'advocate or promote gun control,' which some government researchers had been doing under the guise of taxpayer supported science. ..."
Senator Grassley's point about the effectiveness of gun control legislation cannot be overstated. It was reported last night that Hadiya Pendleton, a 15 year-old honors student who had performed with her Chicago-area high school band at President Obama's inauguration, was shot and killed yesterday on her way home from school.
If strict gun control laws worked, Chicago would be the safest place in the country. But even the New York Times admits, the city with no gun shops or firing ranges, bans on assault weapons and high capacity magazines, is "laboring to stem a flood of gun violence that contributed to more than 500 homicides last year and at least 40 killings already in 2013."
In fact, in the last decade more Americans have been shot and killed in Chicago than in Afghanistan.
Immigration Reform: Obama vs. Rubio
The latest debate over immigration reform has just begun, and it's already off to a rocky start. A bi-partisan coalition of senators offered a set of broad outlines for reform on Monday. Their plan, as of now, hinges on securing the borders before illegal immigrants already in the country can begin down the so-called "pathway to citizenship."
President Obama yesterday laid out his goals for immigration reform during a speech to a majority Hispanic high school in Las Vegas, Nevada, whose students interrupted his speech with chants of "Si se puede! Si se puede!," (Yes we can! Yes we can!).
During his remarks, the president made it clear that border security is not his first priority. In fact, he implied that the borders were just fine. But illegal immigration is on the rise. The Border Patrol reported that it made more than 350,000 arrests last year, up 9% from 2011.
We are also learning today that Mexican drug cartels are not just trying to sneak into the country, but they also trying to corrupt our border security agencies.
The Washington Examiner reports that an internal study conducted by the Department of Homeland Security has identified at least "15 incidents in which known associates of Mexican drug cartels tried to infiltrate the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency." In addition, "146 agency officers and agents have been charged with or convicted of corruption-related offenses since Oct. 1, 2004."
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) warned that Obama's lax approach to border security could doom any efforts to reform the immigration system. Speaking on the Senate floor yesterday, Rubio said that Obama seemed more interested in starting a "bidding war to see who can come up with the easiest, quickest and cheapest pathway to a green card."
After the president's speech, Senator Rubio said, "I am concerned by the president's unwillingness to accept significant enforcement triggers before current undocumented immigrants can apply for a green card. Without such triggers in place, enforcement systems will never be implemented and we will be back in just a few years dealing with millions of new undocumented people in our country."
He's right, of course. That is exactly what happened after the 1986 amnesty and it is why the public reacted so strongly against the amnesty legislation that was proposed during the Bush administration.
Mahmoud's Menacing Monkey
Iran made a big announcement Monday -- it had launched a monkey into space. Many in the elite media mocked the report. "Big deal," they said. "We did that in the 1949. Nothing to worry about." They are wrong. This is a big deal, and we should be worried.
Iran is aggressively pursuing nuclear technology. Its president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has repeatedly vowed to wipe Israel off the map. Its supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, routinely refers to the United States as the "great Satan." So, what does the space monkey have to do with any of that? As retired Israeli Brigadier General Asaf Agmon explained:
"[Iran's] space program is connected to their missile program and the science you need to launch a monkey into space is the same that you need to send a warhead over the Atlantic Ocean, so there's a connection and the world can't ignore it."
Massive number of Americans abandon God's Word
While you may put your trust in the Bible, a study has been done ranking the top 96 American cities when it comes to their support for Scripture.
You'll be stunned by the results (or maybe you won't in this day and age).
For the past several days, WND has been reporting on explosions at Iran's secret nuclear facility.
And while Barack Obama's minions at the White House claim the reports are not credible, look which major voice in the atomic world won't deny the plant has been rocked ...
Apart from finding out that Barack Obama did far worse in his re-election than nearly any other incumbent who won re-election, the only thing that perked me up after Nov. 6 was coming across a Time magazine published after the 2004 election, when George W. Bush won a second term.
In the mirror image of all the 2012 post-election analyses, the Democrats were said to be finished, out of ideas, hopelessly unpopular. It's like watching MSNBC, with the word "Democrats" replaced with "Republicans."
Imagine having to live in wretched conditions in a make-shift refugee camp after being evicted from home at gunpoint by armed forces, some of whom were sporting United Nations logos. It has happened to thousands of people.
Is it possible in this modern age of sensitivity, someone would ever suggest cannibalism is OK? Well, some students are getting the message in school that it's OK to feast on dead humans, especially those of a certain faith. Can you guess which one?
I've argued for a long time that environmentalists are the cheap dates (or battered spouses) of the Democratic Party, but even Obama's shout out to climate change in his inaugural address isn't satisfying them. There was quite a negative reaction to Theta Skocpol's critical report on why climate legislation failed in Obama's first term because environmental groups hate being told they're a bunch of losers. To the contrary, the Center for American Progress and Grist.org know who they want to blame-"denialists," yes, but they're even more angry with . . . President Obama.
But what exactly can Obama do? There's zero chance of any climate legislation passing Congress. (Or maybe he can slip something in the immigration bill?) The EPA will try to extend regulation of greenhouse gases, and while this is a bad prospect the EPA regulatory process is very slow-too slow for the impatient greens (and it won't work anyway). He can continue to block the Keystone pipeline, but that's not really much in the grand scheme of things.
Michael Brune
So it should come as no surprise that the greens are going to start holding their breath until they turn blue, figuratively speaking. The Sierra Club has grandly announced that it is going to start engaging in civil disobedience, because, you know, they're just like Henry David Thoreau and Martin Luther King. From Sierra Club executive director Michael Brune:
Next month, the Sierra Club will officially participate in an act of peaceful civil resistance. We'll be following in the hallowed footsteps of Thoreau, who first articulated the principles of civil disobedience 44 years before John Muir founded the Sierra Club.
Some of you might wonder what took us so long. Others might wonder whether John Muir is sitting up in his grave. In fact, John Muir had both a deep appreciation for Thoreau and a powerful sense of right and wrong. And it's the issue of right versus wrong that has brought the Sierra Club to this unprecedented decision.
For civil disobedience to be justified, something must be so wrong that it compels the strongest defensible protest. Such a protest, if rendered thoughtfully and peacefully, is in fact a profound act of patriotism. . . . blah, blah, blah . . . unconscionable. . . blah . . . The Sierra Club has refused to stand by. . . blah, blah . . . In doing so, we're issuing a challenge to President Obama . . . time is running out . . . blah . . . We cannot afford to wait, and neither can President Obama.
I've interpolated a bit here, so Brune doesn't pass out on his way to turning blue. I'm guessing Sierra Club membership is down at the moment. Rumor has it that most environmental groups have experienced a significant loss of members and a decline in revenues. There have been lots of layoffs. I'm sure they can all find green jobs somewhere else.
With this morning's announcement that the economy shrank by 0.1% in the 4th quarter of 2012-unexpectedly!-the specter of another recession looms. The Associated Press doesn't try to sugarcoat the news; it terms the decline a "stunning drop." What to do, now that the worst recovery in history seems to have ground to a halt and the economy is slipping into reverse? Anything that might actually help is anathema to the Obama administration, so the AP suggests that the administration may sing the only tune it knows:
...defying expectations for slow growth and possibly providing incentive for more Federal Reserve stimulus.
Sure. Because "Federal Reserve stimulus" has worked so well up until now.
If another recession is around the corner, Obama will no doubt try to blame it on President Bush. Obama probably has the chutzpah to pull this off, but his teleprompter might be too embarrassed to display the message.
It could be worse: Great Britain is anticipating a triple-dip recession. Still we shouldn't get cocky. The Obama administration has four long years to go.
The chief of Egypt's military, Abdel Fatah al-Sissi, warned of the possible "collapse of the state" following a fourth night of street fighting in Cairo and other major cities. In that event, the military might very well intervene in an effort to restore stability.
Unfortunately, as we noted in August of last year, Sissi's sympathies lie with the Muslim Brotherhood. Indeed, this report by the Washington Post, though it suggests that the military itself is "fundamentally neutral," acknowledges that "Sissi is far more loyal to the Islamist regime than the previous generals would have been."
Ah, those "previous generals." Weren't they the pro-American crew that had its legs cut off by President Obama and Hillary Clinton when, in the aftermath of the election of President Morsi, they tried to act as a counterweight to his impending Islamist regime?
We have noted that Obama seems to view the Muslim Brotherhood as the wave of the future in the Middle East. The Egyptian street may beg to differ, but Obama has done his best to make his terrible prophecy a self-fulfilling one.
Yesterday, the Senate confirmed John Kerry as Secretary of State. The vote was 94-3.
Kerry's confirmation was never in doubt. Unlike Susan Rice, Kerry did not recently exhibit willful disregard for the truth on a matter of deep public conern (the Benghazi killings), although he did slander the U.S. military four decades ago in connection with the war in Vietnam. And unlike Chuck Hagel, Kerry's stated views on foreign policy do not fall outside the mainstream of the Democratic Party (a sad commentary on that Party) and do not diverge from the positions President Obama articulated to the public during his quest for reelection.
Nonetheless, from his aforementioned remarks about Vietnam, to his support for the Sandinistas, to his criminally stupid advocacy of building U.S. Middle East policy around Bashar al-Assad, Kerry has been wrong about nearly every important foreign policy issue for as long as anyone can remember. As Sen. Inhofe said of Kerry, whom he considers a friend: "We joke around a lot, but I told him I never agreed with him on anything, going all the way back to the Sandinistas."
So I commend Inhofe and the two Texas Senators, Cornyn and Cruz, for refusing to let Kerry's confirmation be without dissent.
One thing you can count on is the gullibility and endless reserves of outrage of the professional victimologists of the Left. Case in point: Volkswagen has released a new ad for the Super Bowl that has the Sensitivity Police yelling "racism!" at the top of their lungs. Please. Grow up people. The ad already has over 1.5 million views on YouTube. Volkswagen and their ad agency must be pleased with all the free viewership they're getting thanks to the Left. (There's more on the background of the ad, including the enthusiastic cooperation of Jamaican dialect experts, in this story.) In any case, enjoy:
President Obama announced Tuesday his support for a comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. This follows Monday's announcement of a bipartisan Senate agreement that will form the basis for legislation to be ready by March.
The problems in our immigration policy cannot be effectively solved in a comprehensive piece of legislation, because comprehensive is really just a code word for what will be a confusing, complicated, convoluted, and contentious bill that will create as many problems as it purports to solve.
Heritage Foundation President-Elect Jim DeMint appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday to discuss President Obama's liberal vision for America and how conservatives must counter his radical agenda.
As he did during a Saturday speech to the National Review Institute, DeMint called on conservatives to do a better job of explaining how their ideas solve problems and lead to more prosperity.
"One of the reasons I left Congress is that I don't believe the politicians are going to solve our problems unless the American people force them to," DeMint told host David Gregory.
The roundtable discussion included NAACP President and CEO Ben Jealous, The Washington Post's Bob Woodward, NBC News' Andrea Mitchell and NBC News' Ted Koppel. The video runs about 13 minutes, click here to watch it.
Liberals like to think they have a monopoly on charity because they support government programs like overseas aid.
But Daniel Hannan, a member of the European Parliament and one of Great Britain's rising conservative political stars, explains that liberals focus on the "elevation of motive over outcome." That can lead to feel-good programs that fail in real life.
In fact, as Heritage Foundation expert James Roberts explains, government antipoverty programs don't work and can even be counterproductive. Economic freedom is a proven alternative that can lift impoverished nations from poverty.
Moreover, Roberts points out that private charities are more effective with their overseas aid than are similar government programs.

President Obama, moving quickly to complete the lineup for his second-term regulatory team, nominated attorney Mary Jo White last week to chair the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The selection is a critical one, as the agency is still struggling to complete the rulemakings required under the Dodd-Frank financial regulation act, while facing pressure from the courts and Congress to improve the sometimes sketchy quality of its regulatory analysis.
If the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) regulated its own doings in the manner it does private business, the agency's doors would surely be shuttered. So lousy is its record of accrediting workplace safety examiners that some applicants have waited 10 years for their paperwork to be processed.
It's gotten so bad, in fact, that OSHA officials actually jettisoned their internal performance measures rather than even attempt to make the grade. In other words, the agency stopped tracking its operations because the results were so dismal.
U.S. labor laws do not meet the needs of modern American workers. The laws prevent union members from receiving individual raises and employers from giving non-union employees a formal voice on the job. Congress created these restrictions in the 1930s for a primarily industrial economy that no longer exists. The time has come for Congress to bring America's labor laws into the 21st century.
About The Heritage Foundation Founded in 1973, The Heritage Foundation is the nation's most broadly supported public policy organization. Heritage created the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies in 2001 to educate government officials, the media and the public about the Constitution, legal principles and how they affect public policy.
As previously transmitted to the masses, the team of People's Cube operatives consisting of Comrade Red Square and Mrs. Red Square embedded themselves into the hotbed of the paleo-conservative movement - the "Future of Conservatism" Summit organized by the National Review Institute in Washington, D.C. (Jan 25-27, 2013).
Their mission was three-fold:
1. Deplete their conservative budget by eating free conservative food and drinking free conservative spirits.
2. Uncover the schemes that the conservative conspiratorial cabal is plotting for our future, by eavesdropping on sources who spoke under the impression they were among "their kind."

No 'Playing Gotcha' With Obama By L. Brent Bozell III Obama's reliance on the performance-enhancing media is like doping in politics. '60 Minutes' correspondent Steve Kroft and his liberal media colleagues have helped Obama cheat his way to the top, and at the pinnacle of power, he is never held accountable.
Amnesty Gang Throws Law-Abiders Under the Bus By Michelle Malkin President Obama and the bipartisan Gang of Eight in Washington who want to create a "pathway to citizenship" for millions of illegal aliens have sent a message loud and clear to those who follow the rules: You're chumps!
Still Leading From Behind By Rich Galen Someone should remind President Obama each and every day that he is now entering his fifth year, not fifth day, in office, and he could have "insisted" on immigration reform at any point in his first term. But leading from behind takes time.
MSNBC just doesn't care anymore. They've completely let go of themselves and it's an ugly scene as they hit another new low in deceptive editing. This time they used a 100% cordial, respectful exchange between Second Amendment advocates and the father of a Sandy Hook victim to vilify supporters of gun rights as hecklers. Did they heckle? Watch and decide for yourself HERE.
SHOCKING: Hillary opens up about Obama?
Hillary Clinton gave a revealing interview on Fox News last night where she opened up about the President and his shocking power grabs. She expressed her concern s about the future. It was so scary it was hard to tell if she was talking about Obama or some third world dictator. Check out the shocking interview HERE.
Ugh: GOP pushing 'comprehensive' immigration reform bill
Earlier this week Glenn talked about how the GOP was a dying, soon to be distant and really bad memory. One of the reasons why can be revealed in such 'compromises' as the new immigration reform bill being touted in Congress. The pandering is out of control and leading the party out of existence. MORE
Glenn doubles down on call for a new party
When Glenn celebrated the near death of the GOP he did not hesitate to suggest it's time for a new party to rise up. Out with the old, in with the new - clearly the establishment GOP is not leading America back in the direction of its founding principles. Glenn's alternative on radio today.
Mary Matalin out at CNN
But is she sad about it? Glenn interviewed Mary about the situation and she began to explain when Stu hijacked the interview in order to lobby for Super Bowl connections. Poor Mary, putting her broken heart out on the table only to have her concerns completely ignored by Stu, whose only concern was keeping his Super Bowl attendance streak alive. Matalin remains graceful throughout - check out the interview HERE.
What do you remember about the story of Ruby Ridge? The MSM has given us the impression that the incident centered around a white supremacist, extreme right winger and his family who refused to turn themselves in, triggering a bloody battle that took the lives of a teenager, mother and a federal agent. Glenn explains Ruby Ridge like the MSM never has.
