Could a new executive order require your doctor to turn you in?
Remember when President Obama said Obamacare wouldn't give the government free reign to dig around your medical records? So much for that. One of the executive orders proposed to increase gun regulation could actually require your doctor to turn you in. Glenn has more on radio.
New Video Game Allows Players to Murder NRA President
Katie Pavlich News Editor, Townhall
Jan 15, 2013
A new online video game is taking political discourse to a whole new level. We already reported the death threats being received by NRA executives and now, a video game which allows users to shoot NRA President David Keene in the head, has been released. The creator of the game identified as gizmo01942 Ediot says, "Share this everywhere, especially gun-nut and anti-game websites. Also see if you can't send it in to the NRA somehow, like through the feedback on their website or something." Gizmo also provides screen shots to viewers, which can be seen below.
The game is available for download and comes in the form of a zip file. During a press conference in December, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre berated the video game industry for their use of violence saying, "Isn't fantasizing about killing people all day really the filthiest form of pornography?"
This video game seems to be retaliation for the NRA's violent video game stance.

CCG Patriots,
There is no more fundamental Constitutionally guaranteed right than the RIGHT TO LIFE. Over 55 million babies have been robbed of their right to life since Roe v. Wade in the mass genocide of abortion. If you believe that abortion is a crime against the innocent and a plague which must be removed from our land, please DO something about it! Join us and tens of thousands of other believers in every American's right to life at the 40th annual MARCH FOR LIFE in Washington DC on January 25th.
You will make your voice heard on behalf of the innocent babies who are murdered every day and will be inspired and encouraged to fight on as courageous pro-life leaders in Congress share their passion for life. Following the rally, in the Congressional office building, you will have an opportunity to meet personally with Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick and other pro-life legislators to encourage them to support vital pro-life legislation. We must continue to push for the complete defunding of Planned Parenthood which, according to Sandy, in 2011-12 was subsidized with half a Billion dollars of our money which supported the killing of 333,964 babies.
One of the most enjoyable ways to participate in the March is to join Sandy Slater, president of the Bucks County Pro-Life Coalition and CCG Press Liaison, on the bus trip from St. Isidore's Church, that she organizes every year. Sandy will update you on pro-life legislation on the trip down so you can talk to your representative. Snacks, water, a comfortable ride with fellow pro-lifers, and dinner at a great buffet are all included for only $30. Contact Sandy to sign up today (see attached flyer and info below).
Please
copy and post this flyer
at your church (or organize your own church bus/van). We must engage others in ACTION to fight this holocaust. Hope to see you there, Jaime
From SANDY SLATER :
You may know that the wonderful founder of the DC March for Life, Nellie Gray died at the age of 86 this past August. She had led the March for Life for 40 years. She is being succeeded by a board member, Jeanne Monahan. This March also marks the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade.
The purpose of the e-mail is to advise you that our Federal Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick again will meet with the participants in this event who are from Dtistrict 8. Because of the crowd and the number of congressmen who tried to accommodate us in DC last year, he would like to have a separate room for Bucks County District 8. This should enable better organization. I know some of the churches who are going to the March but probably not all. Therefore you may get another e-mail as well.
If you are planning to go to the March and would like to meet with Rep. Fitzpatrick, please respond to this e-mail to advise and possibly your number. He is making himself available between 2 & 5 PM on the day of the March 1/25/13. I do not know the place yet.
Another reason for the e-mail is if you have a particular concern or question, and these should be directed toward pro-life, you may want to formulate that beforehand to help him in helping you. There are many pro-life bills that have been introduced but they will have to be re-introduced

600 Memorials for 55 Million Babies
Next Tuesday, January 22, 2013, the 40th anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court ruling which legalized abortion on demand, pro-life advocates across America are being urged to memorialize the 55 million pre-born babies who have been aborted since that ruling 40 years ago on that date.
When people want to express their sorrow for tragic deaths, they often bring symbols of their grief to the sitesof the deaths, including candles, flowers and messages. When children are killed, those symbols often include stuffed animals and balloons, such as for the recent school massacre in Newtown. Pro-lifers can help commemorate the 55 million pre-born babies who were aborted before they could even take a breath.
RNC for Life is urging those who value the sanctity of life to remember those innocent babes by placing flowers, balloons and stuffed animals at the approximately 600 abortion facilities across America next Tuesday. We also encourage you to pray silently in front of the abortion facility after placing your memorial.
You don't have to spend much time at the abortuary and you don't have to spend much money on the symbols you place there. But these memorials - hopefully 600+ of them - will send a message to all who see them: Some of the 55 million innocents were killed HERE and we grieve for them.
We hope that these spontaneous memorials will be placed at every abortuary, accompanied by sweet reminders of unborn children and even messages to those innocent babies. We are confident that, in seeing these hundreds of memorials with thousands of participants, America will come to realize the magnitude of the horror that abortion is and has been for four decades. A flyer suitable to distribute is available here which will give you specific suggestions.
Please forward this to everyone you know who believes in the sanctity of Life. We must not let this infamous anniversary go by without memorializing these babes who have been murdered in the womb at the rate of about 3300 EVERY DAY!
Thank you for your help.

"FrackNation," a film by investigative journalist Phelim McAleer, will be broadcast on Jan. 22, 2012 at 9 p.m. ET according to The Hollywood Reporter. AXS TV is a cable network owned by Mark Cuban, Ryan Seacrest and entertainment companies AEG and CAA.
In a press release, McAleer said of the film, "FrackNation has been described as the first 'pro-fracking film.' I would describe it as pro-journalism and pro-truth. It asks hard questions of the environmental movement and its campaigns. And they seem to not like difficult questions."
In the film, McAleer travels across the U.S. and interviews people on both sides of the fracking issue, including farmers who have leased their property for natural gas drilling and say it is safe, as well as others who want to lease their lands, but cannot due to bans on the practice. He also scrutinizes claims made by Josh Fox, the anti-fracking filmmaker of Gasland.
The new documentary film was funded through Kickstarter, a crowdfunding website, and was co-directed by McAleer, his wife Ann McElhinney and their colleague Magdalena Segieda. "FrackNation's" debut will come just a couple weeks after the anti-fracking drama "Promised Land" starring Matt Damon and John Krasinski hits movie theaters nationwide.
The timing is intentional and meant to urge debate following "Promised Land's" release, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Cuban said "Of course the timing is relevant."
"Promised Land" will merely be the newest entertainment media attempt to demonize the practice of fracking, following episodes of TV programs like "Rizzoli & Isles." The U.S. news media, when they talk about fracking also often portray it negatively. The New York Times ran an entire series of misleading reports in 2011 about fracking and continued to attack the process, even after the paper's ombudsman criticized the Times' coverage.
McAleer has made two previous documentaries, Not Evil Just Wrong and Mine Your Own Business.
WHETHER YOU ARE A GUN OWNER OR NOT, YOU MUST READ THE FOLLOWING:
The recent tragedy in Newtown, CT has shocked our country and left us all with an emptiness in our hearts. The media and liberal politicians are using this act of evil to demonize the 2nd Amendment and all of those that support it. The politicians and media that are now calling for landmark gun control do so not out of genuine concern for safety, but rather to exploit a tragedy for their own self-serving agenda. It is yet another step in their ultimate goal of weakening the American citizenry and consolidating power into the federal government. Their actions are disingenuous in the process of developing meaningful solutions so that events such as Newtown, CT are never repeated.
It is reported that Sen. Feinstein (D-CA) will introduce a bill on January 22 that will affect up to 75% of all currently owned guns. This bill could require current gun owners to register their guns into a new national database and then force owners to pay an annual tax in order to keep their guns. In addition, the bill would ban the production and/or sale of many firearms and require that they be surrendered to the government upon the owner's death and not be able to be transferred to living relatives, etc. Gun registration has historically been a precursor to gun confiscation. We need not even consider past totalitarian regimes to confirm this; consider San Francisco, NYC, Australia and the UK where gun ownership is essentially banned. Basically overnight, millions of law-abiding, tax-paying, U.S. citizens would be forced to either obey an illegal law or be deemed a criminal.
Even if you are not a gun owner, you can see how such far reaching legislation is in violation of the Constitution and would give the government unprecedented power making us all subjects rather than citizens. Further, President Obama is threatening to circumvent Congress and use Executive Orders to pass legislation!!!
Please contact your representatives and tell them to vote "No" on Sen. Feinstein's Bill. Here is a list of officials and their phone numbers and corresponding websites that you can cut and paste in your browser:
In addition, here is some information that may prove helpful in your contact with them:
According to the FBI in areas where right to carry have been implemented gun crimes have been reduced and the converse is also a fact. A prime example of the decrease after the right to carry is Florida, Texas and Michigan; After the handgun ban Chicago saw an increase in handgun murders and DC saw an increase in murder rate after the handgun ban.
Dr. Gary Kleck, a criminologist at Florida State University, estimated that approximately 2.5 million people used their gun in self-defense or to prevent crime each year, often by merely displaying a weapon. The incidents that Kleck studied generally did not involve the firing of the gun and he estimates that as many as 1.9 million of those instances involved a handgun. The National Rifle Association regularly reprints locally-published stories of ordinary citizens whose lives were saved by their guns.
In the international scene, the homicide rate in England and Wales has averaged 52% higher since the outset of the 1968 gun control law and 15% higher since the outset of the 1997 handgun ban. In Australia, five years after the gun ban assault rose 49.2 percent, robbery rose 6.2 percent rape increased 29.9 percent and overall Australia's violent crime rose 42.2 percent. At the same time, U.S. violent crime decreased 31.8 percent: rape dropped 19.2 percent; robbery decreased 33.2 percent; aggravated assault dropped 32.2 percent.
Schools(like the Friend's school where President Obama's children attend, in addition to the Secret Service), celebrities, politicians and other wealthy are protected by armed guards and are not attacked. Essentially the one percenters are the ones who can afford this protection.
In Israel, teachers are armed and there are no school shootings.

Rep. Metcalfe will be holding a press conference on Tuesday, January 22, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Capitol Media Center, Representative Metcalfe will be joining with other legislators to announce the reintroduction of the "Pennsylvania Open Workforce Initiative."
This package of legislation would make Pennsylvania the 25th Right to Work State.
This would be a good day to visit legislators regarding our 2013 Legislative Agenda.
(1)List of House Bills that are planned for introduction
(2)Information about the press conference ---- please note that we are calling this "Pennsylvania Open Workforce Initiative" rather than "right to work"
Attached:
Attached is a draft resolution that I put together. I plan to use it with civic groups to help get them on board and supporting workers' rights in PA
The "Pennsylvania Open Workforce Initiative" is a compilation of five pieces of legislation that would end compulsory unionism in Pennsylvania. They are:
House Bill 50 : umbrella right to work bill (would pertain to both public and private sector unions)
House Bill 51 : eliminates fair share fees for school employees
House Bill 52 : eliminates fair share fees for state government employees
House Bill 53 : eliminates fair share fees for local government employees
House Bill 54 : right to work solely for the private sector (similar to what Indiana recently passed)
What about additional policy changes that would restore the freedom to Pennsylvania workers, including eliminating a public employer's responsibility to collect union dues (Rep. Cutler's HB 1418 from last session). Hopefully, that will come from the Senate.
Pennsylvania Open Workforce Initiative Resolution
Whereas Pennsylvania is in the bottom one-third of states for business attractiveness;
Whereas Pennsylvania law grants government unions unfair, unique, and special privilege to use government payroll and administrative systems to automatically deduct dues, "fair share" fees, and even Political Action Committee contributions from workers' paychecks-money they earn, but never see
Whereas automatic deduction-at taxpayers' expense-helps bankroll six-figure salaries for union bosses, political lobbying, and expensive conferences and junkets while employees have little or no say in how unions use their money;
Whereas Pennsylvania is a forced union state where workers in unionized workplaces must pay "fair share" fees to the union as a condition of their employment;
Whereas a single union usually has monopoly bargaining power with a government unit-such as a school district-which prevents employees from choosing a different union or from bargaining individually;
Whereas workers' freedom of association is being violated by current law when half of Pennsylvania's government employees are unionized-amounting to nearly 300,000 voluntary members and involuntary fee payers in the four largest government unions: the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA), the American Federation of State, Council and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU);
Whereas Pennsylvania's workers lack the protection to work without being forced against their will to pay dues or fees to a union or similar organization;
Whereas government unions often lobby for policies that work against the best interest of their members, taxpayers, students and service users; and
Whereas last year, the PSEA spent $4.2 million on lobbying and political activity, an increase of about 60% from the prior year;
It is resolved that, it is time to protect the rights of workers, taxpayers, students, and the public by passing "Pennsylvania Open Workforce Initiative" legislation that will
(1)Prohibit the use of taxpayer resources to collect union dues, fees, and Political Action Committee contributions;
(2)Require unions to receive permission from union members before using dues or fees for non-collective bargaining, political activity;
(3)Protect the workers' right to freedom of association by establishing and protecting a workers' freedom to work without being forced to join an union;
(4)Repeal laws that compel government workers to pay fees to a union as a condition of employment; and
(5)Relieve unions of having to represent any non-dues or non-fee paying employees.

President Obama is soon to begin his FORCED AMNESTY for 12-20 Million ( mainly Mexican ) ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS as reported on FOX NEWS TODAY.
Group owners, please bring this back to your members. Copy it, blog it. We must not let Obama dump 12-20 Million illegal immigrants plus their 30-45 Million relatives into the United States which would forever hurt Our Country and Our Citizens !
Obama continues to work with La Raza ( The RACE ) on ways to get AMNESTY for as MANY of the 12-20 MILLION ( Mainly Mexican ) Illegal Immigrants as possible SO THEY CAN THEN BRING IN 30 to 45 MILLION more of their Spanish speaking family members to make a future ENDLESS STREAM of new relatives mainly from Mexico, as possible. That's right, each one here that gets their Amnesty FILLED with ENDLESS WAIVERS to make it easy. Those "Amnesty people" get to bring ALL their relatives in the United States for American's to pay for with OUR taxes, Our Jobs and Our Lives.
The Illegals will be working over time on Blogs ( often pretending to be Americans ) , Phone calls to Politicians ( pretending to be Americans ) Donations for pro-Amnesty politicians, Amnesty parades and Obama will be using his left-wing media to spread bogus propaganda to pull at the heart strings of enough real Americans to get Amnesty. These illegals will say, do, pretend and act to get Amnesty. Amnesty is the Mexican Reconquista dream. The war on America is about to begin !! The Democrats think that Amnesty means more votes, and don't care how it actually hurts ALL Americans no matter what party they belong to. The illegals will work hard to take what you have. And WE MUST WORK HARDER !!!
So, your thinking. What can I do ? I urge all of you to do something every day ! Members feel free to post ideas. Here are things ANY AMERICAN HERE can do. Remember, Illegal Immigration hurts EVERYONE regardless what party you belong to. Illegals don't care what party you belong to when they steal your jobs, your ID's, your car, break into your house, selling drugs, hurting your children.
Ok, what can I do ?
(1) Blog Blog Blog....On the end of each YAHOO NEWS story it gives you the option to make a "comment"..... Post ALL the negative aspects of massive Amnesty for illegal Immigrants.
(2) Call ( Call OFTEN ! ) your local and national politicians. Be polite but firm and remind them YOU are the American voter. Illegals do it all the time pretending to be an American...
(3) Email your politicians OFTEN.
(4) Join NumbersUSA.com who provides FREE FAX messages for your Politicians.
(5) Donate to groups like NumbersUSA.com and FairUS.org
(6) Write Editorials in local news papers.
(7) Remind people by word of mouth that Amnesty for 12-20 Million ( Mainly Mexican) illegals means hey can BRING IN 30-45 MILLION of their relatives.
(8) Call talk radio stations including stations that support illegal immigration. Let EVERY AMERICAN UNDERSTAND that The Dream Act is a BACK DOOR TROJAN AMNESTY designed to let criminal illegal immigrants USE their children ( up to young adults ) to bring in 30-45 Million of their relatives who are here and in Mexico.
(9) Be the expert. Google Mexican Reconquista. Google Mexican Aztlan. Study illegal immigration and tell people, family, friends the true dangers of illegal immigration.
(10) Make leaflets to expose Illegal Immigration for what it is. Then go to kinkos, staples and copy them cheap... hen drop them off in doors, on cars, etc etc etc...
Talking Points:
*Every day Americans are KILLED by Illegal Immigrants across the USA.....
* We have 22 Million Americans OUT of work or needing better jobs and Obama wants to bring in TENS of MILLIONS more mainly Mexican illegals to compete and take away MORE American jobs.....
* The United States is BROKE and Obama wants to bring in TENS of MILLIONS of Family members through Amnesty and give Benefits to 12-20 Million mainly Mexican illegals who are here already for YOU to pay for with LOSS of YOUR benefits and HIGHER taxes.......
* Our Jails are FILLED with TENS of THOUSANDS of illegals a year who have been caught hurting American Citizens.....
* Most of our ILLEGAL drugs are brought in on he SAME routes and often carried on the backs of the million illegals that cross into the USA each year..............
* Mexicans are taught MEXICAN RECONQUISTA and MEXICAN AZTLAN in Mexico prior to entering the USA illegally.
* NO OTHER group in History has FORCED Americans to press #2 for English and print EVERYTHING in THEIR Language. Even teaching HEIR Children in Spanish, unlike ALL OTHER people who come to America.
* Illegal Immigrants cost the USA BILLIONS and BILLIONS of US dollars a year including FOOD STAMPS, Housing, Welfare and other programs to assist ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.
* Each time an Illegal immigrant has a baby in the USA, Americans are FORCED to pay for tha baby for 18 YEARS and later the baby is used to bring in ALL their relatives into the United States.
* The Added Billions of dollars to Obama care for these 12-20 Million Amnesty Illegals plus their 30-45 Million parasite relatives will cause a URGE burden and surge in costs to the United States...
* Amnesty means they get YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY, YOUR retirement benefits, ALLLLLL the Benefits YOU paid into your whole lives !!

DONT SURRENDER YOUR COUNRY !!! The Illegals will be working VERY hard to TAKE what YOU have !
AAA warns E15 gasoline could cause car damage
Gary Strauss, USA TODAY November 30, 2012
E15, a higher blend of ethanol and gasoline, has rolled out in a handful of states. But its use in older vehicles is generating warnings from AAA, which says E15 could be harmful to pre-2012 vehicles.
The AAA says the Environmental Protection Agency and gasoline retailers should halt the sale of E15, a new ethanol blend that could damage millions of vehicles and void car warranties.
AAA, which issued its warning Friday, says just 12 million of more than 240 million cars, trucks and SUVs now in use have manufacturers' approval for E15. Flex-fuel vehicles, 2012 and newer General Motors vehicles, 2013 Fords and 2001 and later model Porsches are the exceptions, according to AAA, the nation's largest motorist group, with 53.5 million members.
"It is clear that millions of Americans are unfamiliar with E15, which means there is a strong possibility that many may improperly fill up using this gasoline and damage their vehicle," AAA President and CEO Robert Darbelnet tells USA TODAY. "Bringing E15 to the market without adequate safeguards does not responsibly meet the needs of consumers."
On Monday, President Barack Obama nominated former Republican Senator Chuck Hagel to be his next Secretary of Defense in succession to Leon Panetta. Chuck Hagel's record is one of being a frightening and dangerous apologist for terrorist groups like Hamas and Hizballah, as well as for the Iranian terrorist regime, while being arguably one of the most vicious and hostile critics of Israel. The ZOA believes that appointing Chuck Hagel as Defense Secretary would also serve to confirm the fears that many have that President Obama is no friend of Israel and is not serious about stopping Iran's nuclear program.
ACTION:
Please call your U.S. Senators to urge President Obama not to nominate Chuck Hagel and to vote against his appointment if Hagel's name goes forward for Secretary of Defense. You can reach all U.S. Senators through the Capitol Hill switchboard: 202-224-3121.

BACKGROUND:
In 2009, Hagel signed a letter urging President Obama to begin direct negotiations with Hamas, a U.S. designated terrorist group committed in its Charter to the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews, a position President Obama has not taken up.
In a 2006 interview with former Middle East negotiator Aaron David Miller, Hagel said that "the Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people" on Capitol Hill ('Hagel named to intelligence board,' Jewish Telegraphic Agency, October 29, 2009).
In July 2006, at the outbreak of the Lebanon war, Hagel argued against giving Israel the time to break Hizballah, urging instead an immediate ceasefire ('Key Republican breaks with Bush on Mideast,' CNN.com, July 31, 2006).
December 2005: Hagel was one of only 27 senators who refused to sign a letter to President Bush urging him to pressure the Palestinian Authority (PA) to ban terrorist groups from participating in Palestinian legislative elections.
June 2004, Hagel refused to sign a letter urging President Bush to highlight Iran's nuclear program at the G-8 summit and was one of only two senators in to vote against renewal of the Libya-Iran sanctions act.
November 2001: Hagel was one of only 11 senators who refused to sign a letter urging President Bush not to meet with the late Yasser Arafat until his forces ended the violence against Israel.
In July 2001, Hagel was one of only two senators to vote against extending the original Iranian sanctions bill.
October 2000: Hagel was one of only four senators who refused to sign a Senate letter in support of Israel.

Yes, it's true: You can support ACT! for America-at no cost to you!An important message from Guy Rodgers, Executive Director
The next time you make an online purchase of almost anything, you could be helping ACT! for America-at no cost to you.
Sound too good to be true? It isn't.
All you have to do is sign up for "iGive"-a program that's been around since 1997.
The concept is as powerful as it is simple.
Every time an iGive member makes an online purchase at over 1,000 brand-name stores, a percentage of that purchase is donated to that person's charity of choice.
And with the holidays just around the corner, you could be helping ACT! for America with every gift you buy!
The concept isn't new. In the mid-1990s many supporters of non-profit organizations signed up with long distance telephone programs where a percentage of their bill was donated to their charity of choice.
But our investigation of iGive has convinced us that this program has an ease of use and sophistication that we find remarkable.
Imagine booking a hotel room on Orbitz-and having 1.6% of that purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
Or buying an Xbox at Best Buy-and having 1.2% of the purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
The same goes for buying merchandise at Amazon, Bath and Body Works, Advance Auto Parts, Game Stop, Kmart, Home Depot, Holiday Inn, Old Navy, NASCAR Superstore, Overstock.com, Mattel, J.C. Penney, Office Max, QVC, Radio Shack, Shoe Carnival, Pottery Barn-and on and on the list goes.
In other words, every time you make a purchase of merchandise you would buy anyway, you would be financially supporting ACT! for America!
All you have to do is log on below and follow the directions to create your account and download the iGive "button." (Note: downloading the "button" is key).
When I was first informed of iGive, I was skeptical. I've seen these ideas come and go. Often, they're too good to be true. Or there are all kinds of glitches and problems.
So I spent hours researching.
I looked at online customer reviews (which were very good). I read all of iGive's fine print, such as Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. I signed up and even emailed two tech support questions to see how good their tech support was.
And the more I dug, the more I liked what I saw. For instance, both of my tech support questions were responded to within 60 minutes. How often does THAT happen?
As you know from our Patriot Partner program, we're all about encouraging a lot of people to each do a little-to do something. When everyone does a little, together we accomplish a lot.
So consider what could happen.
If just 1% of ACT! for America members each purchased just $400 in merchandise in 2013, from all the available outlets, and the average percentage donated to ACT! was 1.5%, the total amount donated back to ACT! for America would be...
...$15,000. That's a lot of money, wouldn't you agree?
And if you were one of those ACT! for America members, it wouldn't cost you one thin dime to help ACT! for America receive $15,000.
If this idea really caught on, and eventually 5% of our members made purchases with iGive, that $15,000 could explode to $50,000, $75,000 or more!
What's more, that 1.5% figure might be low. Many of the merchants offer percentage donations that are much higher. One printer inkjet company I looked at offered 13%!
Every merchant website you visit tells you right at the top what percentage of your purchase price will be donated to ACT! for America.
Just think what we could accomplish with an extra $15,000, $50,000 or $75,000 in our fight against radical Islam!
One of the things I most wanted to know was their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Check it out for yourself. I confirmed the terms with a company representative. And I like what I learned. As security-conscious as I am, I have no hesitation using the service-and I'm already doing so.
I know there are many people out there who would love to support ACT! for America, or give more than they're giving, but in these tough economic times they simply can't.
Well, here's a way that everyone who believes in our mission can easily support what we're doing-at no cost to them.
It doesn't get any better than that.
There are already chapter leaders who have signed up for the program, and the feedback I have been getting from them has been all positive. They love the idea and many of them are already using it.
So please, join me and these ACT! for America chapter leaders who are already signed up and using the iGive service.
Yours for a safe and free America

The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq
Jul 18th, 2012
Daniel Greenfield's new Freedom Center pamphlet,The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq, is an effort to understand the politics of the "war on terror" which has now reached a final punctuation point with the U.S. decision to speed its withdrawal from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan (where success was once deemed so crucial to national security), and to practice an incoherent form of regime change in Libya while ignoring more serious threats in Syria and Iran.
The war on terror began, Greenfield shows, as an admirable bipartisan commitment soon after the tragedy of 9/11-an effort to transcend party lines not only to punish those who attacked our country but also to interrupt planning for further attacks and try to stop the international spread of the Islamic jihad behind the attacks. But the Democratic Party, with the honorable exception of a few individuals like Richard Gephardt and Joe Lieberman, turned its back on a war soon after authorizing it, and did so at a time when American troops were facing hostile enemy fire.
Although Senate Democrats on the intelligence oversight committee had been granted access to every piece of data available to the White House, they now accused President Bush of tricking them to secure their approval. In fact, their own about-face was entirely dictated by political considerations when a Sixties antiwar activist, Howard Dean, surged ahead in the Democratic primary polls and it appeared for a moment that Americans were on the side of retreat and capitulation.
Although regime change in Iraq had been official U.S. policy since Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, Democratic senators such as John Kerry who only months earlier had supported the war effort now launched demoralizing attacks on the American commander-in-chief and his troops in the field, stigmatizing it as "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." If the truth was the first casualty of their war against the Bush administration, the second casualty was the principle of bi-partisanship that had guided foreign policy debates throughout the Cold War, the principle that "politics stops at the water's edge." Now partisan politics trumped security.
The unrestrained attacks on the Iraq War as illegal and unjustified went largely unanswered by Republicans who failed to call the Democratic saboteurs of the nation's war effort to account or to decry the risk their cynical attacks posed to American servicemen and women on the battlefield. As Greenfield demonstrates, the Democrats' partisanship had consequences not only in Iraq but elsewhere in the region: the paralysis that resulted from their "anti-war" campaign led straight to the destruction of Lebanon and the installation of a terrorist army, Hezbollah, there as a regime within a regime. And it emboldened an overtly Islamofascist regime in Iran not only to supply the IEDs responsible for most of our troop fatalities in Iraq but also to proceed with a nuclear program aimed directly at Israel and the West.
The Great Betrayal shows that Barack Obama's abandonment of Iraq is a betrayal of all the Americans and Iraqis who gave their lives to establish freedom in that country. And the result of his policies in Afghanistan has been as disastrous. While the President presented his rationale for pursuing war there as the pursuit of al-Qaeda, after abandoning his "surge" (which resulted in two thirds of all America's Afghan casualties there and the resurgence of the Taliban allies of al-Qaeda), he blithely prepared for withdrawal as if national objectives had been met.

Individuals sympathetic to the Muslim Brotherhood's sinister agenda have infiltrated the Obama Administration.
Brainwashed by the Muslim Students Association and then propelled in to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the David Horowitz Freedom Center tracks the path of Huma Abedin and other Muslim sympathizers who have navigated their way into positions of great influence in the Obama Administration. Everything is revealed in the explosive new Freedom Center pamphlet, "The Muslim Brotherhood in the Obama Administration," written by Frank Gaffney, national security expert who served as Assistant Secretary of Defense under Ronald Reagan.
The David Horowitz Freedom Center is committed to educating the public on the Muslim Brotherhood's sinister Agenda. That is why we are giving away this pamphlet for FREE.
This is a major push forward for APC in the battle to stop Agenda 21, and I need you to look it over and sign your approval to it.
Let me explain this vital project.
Across the nation, individuals and local activists have been working to stop the ravages of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development. And we have won some astounding victories.
We've made Agenda 21 a major issue.
But we are vastly outgunned by the Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are pushing this agenda from the UN all the way to your city council.
They are flooding state capitals with lobbyists, money, and a flood of issue documents. They are rich, powerful and well organized.
We aren't. We are a rag tag band of dedicated activists with passion for the cause of freedom and little else.
That has got to change.
Our activists need the tools necessary to win.
That's just what my "Stop Agenda 21" project is designed to provide.
The President is ready to announce his plans to restrict gun ownership. Most likely, nothing the President proposes will do anything to stop a future Sandy Hook. We know the President understands he is putting Democrats in a terrible spot. We know because he did nothing after the Aurora, CO shooting in the midsts of a political campaign. He had to wait so he wouldn't spook voters.
Now he will put the Democrats on the line. Senators Baucus, Begich, Hagan, Johnson, Landrieu, and Pryor - all Democrats from very pro-second amendment states who are up for re-election in 2014 - will be in jeopardy when, not if, the President overreaches.
In all the talk that has happened and will happen, the press and the general public seem willing to ignore the actual purpose of the second amendment.
The amendment is not about sports. It is not about recreation. It is not about hunting. It is only partly about defending yourself from a criminal.
The second amendment is about ensuring a "free state."

2.Group Calls For Corruption-Tainted Attorney To Resign From Obama's Union-Dominated NLRB
You know, the last time a member of Obama's union-tainted National Labor Relations Board was urged to resign, it created quite a stir:
Union-backed Labor Secretary Hilda Solis opposed the idea, while South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley supported the idea of crippling the job-killing NLRB.
In fact, union-bought Democrat George Miller was so apoplectic over the union-inspired suggestion that 'It's Time To Close The NLRB For Renovations' that he ordered an [gasp!] investigation.. . . please click here for the rest of the post →
3.Court Rebukes WI Unions In Fight over Walker's Reforms
The legal battle over Governor Scott Walker's collective bargaining reforms isn't over yet, and in a challenge that has now reached the Wisconsin Court of Appeals a local teachers union is arguing that the law is unconstitutional when applied at the local level. But the unions and their legal team may have suffered a quiet but important setback in late December when, with no fanfare, the Appeals Court requested both sides to file further briefs on the case. In the request, the court specifically noted that cases cited by the unions to prove their point in fact, did not back up the unions' position.
According to the Appeals Court document, unions challenging Walker's reform say that the Dane County court decision striking down the law in September of last year should apply to every county in the state. That means that the collective bargaining reforms used by local school boards and municipal governments across Wisconsin would be immediately thrown out, and local governments would have to return to the status quo of allowing unions to forcibly collectively bargain. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 18, a Cleveland-based labor union, has purchased at least one billboard on State Route 315 in Columbus reading "Workplace Freedom Act poisons workers."
With its text flanked on both sides by skull-and-crossbones "POISON" symbols, the billboard stands as testament to one of the reasons Governor John Kasich and the Ohio General Assembly have expressed no interest in pursuing a workplace freedom law. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →

Aaron Schock voted for the debt ceiling increase the last time.
He also voted for the McConnell tax hike. Aaron Schock, all along, has been fine with raising taxes as long as he could look like he wasn't.
A group in Illinois decided to call him out on it. What did Aaron Schock do? He ran to his lawyer crying and the lawyer wrote a letter to television stations demanding they pull the ad.

Muslim child abducted from school by a woman in a burqa, just like the one her mother wears
But nobody checked her out because we know how Muslims whine about being profiled just because they are Muslims. So it serves them right when something like this happens. Burqas have become a popular disguise for kidnappers, robbers, and rapists as no one can tell the gender of the person wearing it. In today's 'politically correct' society, nobody wants to challenge them, for fear of being called 'racist.'

Do you know your local state legislator? If so, you could be extremely instrumental to our state legislative efforts-and successes!
As state legislative sessions get underway across America, we are excited about the many opportunities we will have to make a difference and to protect our constitutional freedoms within individual states. Strategic preparations are underway for a variety of different initiatives in capitols across the country and we look forward to your continued assistance during the weeks and months ahead.
As a first step, we are looking to identify those of our members who have an established relationship with a state legislator. As you can imagine, when a legislator receives information from a trusted friend or colleague it makes so much more of an impact than if he/she receives it from a stranger. Moving legislation is very much about personal relationships. It seems so simple, and it is-but it is also critical to success.
It all starts with who you know!
So our request from you today is this:
If you already have an existing relationship with a state legislator, we need to hear from you! Please let us know by sending an e-mail to info@actforamerica.org.
Please put "State Legislative Efforts" in the subject line.
Also, as you can imagine, the probability of success for a particular state initiative depends in large part on the legislative and political environment of an individual state. Legislation that may pass easily in one location will not in another. Please know that we are committed to working with you to craft an individualized strategy on moving a legislative initiative that has the best chance of passage in your particular state-and there are several possibilities we have in mind-each of which addresses the threat radical Islam poses to our nation and to our constitutional freedoms.
We anticipate many more legislative successes at the state level in 2013 and look forward to working together with each of you to achieve that goal.
Again, thank you for all that you do. With your help, we ARE making a difference-in your state and across the nation.
REMEMBER, YOUR VOICE COUNTS! IF EACH OF US DOES JUST A LITTLE, TOGETHER WE CAN ACCOMPLISH A LOT!
Bang for your buck: that's what the Freedom Center provides. Ammunition for the culture war against the Left: that's what your contribution buys. So please act now and help us in the fight we are waging on many fronts for America's future. America is under assault from within and without. There is no time to lose.

There are a few things worth knowing about revolutions. Most people don't participate in them, even if the history books often make it seem otherwise. Revolutions are thought up by small groups of people who then make it everyone's business. Or alternately they don't. And those are the revolutions that never happen.
Most people, at any given time and place, are dissatisfied with the government and believe, rightly, that whoever is in charge is guilty of stealing from them, oppressing them and making it impossible for them to live their lives in peace. And they also believe that things are not likely to get any better. Hope is a vanishing emotion that dissipates easily in the drudgery of ordinary everyday work. It may be taken out for a spin on historical occasions, but then it goes back into the barn where it sits for a while gathering dust until it is needed again.
There are however some known crossroads of revolution. A successful revolution usually doesn't happen among the thoroughly repressed. Those people tend to lack the motivation and skills to face down a modern army. When the peasants revolt, they can often be tricked into going home with some false promises and free beer. It worked more often with the serfs in European history than you would think. It's the middle class that you really have to watch out for.
People are not at their most dangerous when they're eating bread crusts and hoping that they won't die tomorrow. By then they're often broken, perhaps not individually, but as a society. It wasn't the people on the collective farms who challenged Soviet tanks in Moscow. Nor was it the Chinese farmers, now being bulldozed off their land, sometimes literally, who stood up to the tanks in Tienanmen Square.
The most dangerous people are the ones who have tasted enough freedom and prosperity to want to keep it. They don't think their leaders are godlike and they have enough education and competence to think the heretical thought that just about anybody could do the same job as the king, the emperor, the czar or the president. They have experience enough upward mobility to understand that a man's place in the world isn't fixed. It can and should be changed. And that is what distinguishes them from the serf. That is what makes them so dangerous.
With the national debate focused on civilian gun control, is perhaps the biggest armed threat within the U.S.- criminal street gangs, mostly comprised of illegal immigrants - being minimized?
According to the FBI, those gangs are acquiring high-powered, military-style weapons to potentially engage in lethal encounters with law enforcement members and citizens alike.
Terrorism is not a belief but instead is a response to despair and a lack of hope, argued Chuck Hagel in unreported remarks during a 2007 senate hearing.
"But when people have no hope, when there's despair, little else matters," said Hagel.
He continued: "And this is not about terrorists don't like freedom. Tell that to the Palestinian people who have been chained down for many, many years. Terrorism is not a strategy, it's a tactic. Terrorism is not a plan. It's not a belief like democracy or monarchy. It's a tactic."

Hagel: U.S. should give up nukes before rogue nations
Asks on Al Jazeera: 'How can we preach to other countries?'
by Aaron Klein
Before dealing with the nuclear arsenals of rogue nations, the U.S. and Russia must first lead the effort by phasing out their own nuclear weapons, argued Chuck Hagel in largely unreported remarks during a 2009 Al Jazeera interview.
Al Jazeera host Riz Khan asked Hagel to address the disarmament of "rogue" states - referring to Iran and North Korea.
Hagel replied: "Let's begin with the two nuclear powers that now are responsible for ninety-six percent of the nuclear weapons in the world. Russia and the United States have a particular obligation. We must join in some unison here to lead the rest of the world."
Hagel spent the interview arguing for a nuclear-free world, with the U.S and Russia to take the first steps.
A nationwide appeal has been sent to gun owners and their families asking they go to their state capitol this Saturday, January 19, from noon to 3 p. m. to show support for our 2nd Amendment rights. The Second Amendment was written to codify the God given right of the American people to keep and bear arms.
When the Bill of Rights was ratified in 1791, those arms were muskets; today they are modern rifles like the AR-15. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco has a well-earned reputation as the hippiest, dippiest, most-reversed appellate court in these United States.
It's where the Pledge of Allegiance gets scrutinized for possible eradication--at least the "under God" part. Every so often, though, the court gets something right.
On Dec. 22, a unanimous 9th Circuit panel reversed a federal district judge's order to evict the Boy Scouts from their longtime camp and local headquarters in San Diego's Balboa Park. The ruling came in a case filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in 2001 on behalf of a lesbian couple and an agnostic couple, who basically accused the Boy Scouts of holding traditional values.
To Win the Debt-Ceiling Debate, We Must Discredit Obama's Debt Dishonesty
This column by ACRU General Counsel and Senior Fellow for the Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP) Peter Ferrara was published January 11, 2013 on Forbes.com.
President Obama tells the nation that Congress must increase the debt limit because they "should pay the bills that they have already racked up." Let me translate that into household economics.
You find yourself reaching the debt limit on your credit card. But you have become addicted to spending each month two thirds more than you earn. So you got to keep charging on that card.
So you write to the credit card company demanding a debt limit increase "so you can pay the bills you have already racked up." Would that work? Or would the credit card company write back and say you cannot pay the bills you have already racked up by continuing to charge more?
This column by ACRU Policy Board Member and Professor of Economics Dr. Walter E. Williams was published January 9, 2013 on Townhall.com.
Nearly two years ago, U.S. News & World Report came out with a story titled "Educators Implicated in Atlanta Cheating Scandal." It reported that "for 10 years, hundreds of Atlanta public school teachers and principals changed answers on state tests in one of the largest cheating scandals in U.S. history." More than three-quarters of the 56 Atlanta schools investigated had cheated on the National Assessment of Educational Progress test, sometimes called the national report card. Cheating orders came from school administrators and included brazen acts such as teachers reading answers aloud during the test and erasing incorrect answers. One teacher told a colleague, "I had to give your kids, or your students, the answers because they're dumb as hell." Atlanta's not alone. There have been investigations, reports and charges of teacher-assisted cheating in other cities, such as Philadelphia, Houston, New York, Detroit, Baltimore, Los Angeles and Washington.

With a second term safely under his belt, President Obama appears to believe he has the political capital to meddle in the affairs of other Western nations. Gordon's intervention appears carefully timed.
The Israeli election set for January 22 and the coverage thereof are very strange in several respects. It is a contest in which his opponents seek to beat centrist Prime Minister Benjamin ("Bibi") Netanyahu, of the Likud party, in a remarkably inept manner, and in which international understanding of the issues is at the low level we've become used to seeing.
In the Second Amendment, the founding fathers sought to protect us against any Rubicon-crossing by granting Americans the right to bear their own arms and form home militias. We own guns, in other words, to defend ourselves from the possibility of government tyranny. It is part of our foundational contract with the American state.
It took us 40 or more years to get into the mess we are in now. We are not going to solve it overnight or in one fell swoop of budget cuts. Simply put, the GOP House must take a more realistic and prudent view of reducing the deficit. This is the responsible path to deal with our fiscal problems, unlike taking unwarranted risks with our economic future by rolling the dice on the debt limit.
Partisan loyalty trumped pro-Israel policy as Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) announced, over the objection of many of his constituents, that he would support the nomination of former Sen Chuck Hagel (R-NE) as Secretary of Defense today. Pro-Israel Democrats in the Senate majority who might have voted against Hagel, are now likely to support him in the wake of Schumer's decision, making Hagel's confirmation all but certain.
Even as pro-Israel advocates mobilized against Hagel's appointment, the White House has worked hard behind the scenes to shore up his support. Yesterday, Hagel delivered a letter to Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) in which he expressed regret for his controversial comments about a "Jewish lobby" (though, as with an anti-gay remark in 1998, Hagel made the apologetic gesture to a third party, not to the target of his offensive comment).

Joe Biden: White House Eying 19 Executive Actions On Guns

Jan 15, 2013 11:08 am WASHINGTON (OfficialWire) - Acknowledging opposition in Congress, President Barack Obama said Monday he is reviewing actions he can take on his own to confront gun violence and said he will present a plan within days. Stronger background checks, a meaningful ban on assault weapons and limits on high-capacity ammunition magazines are all on the table, [...]
Virtually every day since he won reelection, Barack Obama has addressed the nation, made a speech, held a press conference or given an interview in which he has attacked Republicans, conservatives or the half of the country that didn't vote for him. Obama is behaving as though he won a massive landslide. He did not.
Obama got 51% of the vote. At the same time, voters returned a Republican majority to the House of Representatives and increased the number of Republican governors to 30. The notion that Obama has some kind of overwhelming mandate is absurd.
We can, and I often do, criticize the GOP for not being more aggressive in defending its positions. But, my friends, this simple fact cannot be overstated -- there is no one in the Republican Party right now who can command the media high ground like the president can.
Even if John Boehner were the reincarnation of Ronald Reagan, the networks would not interrupt their broadcasting for the Speaker of the House. That is why the presidency is referred to as the "bully pulpit." The power of the president to influence public opinion should not be underestimated.
But Obama is abusing his position, and the bully pulpit is becoming a bully's pulpit. The media portray Obama as a nice guy and the victim of alleged conservative intolerance, but consider this example of just how vicious Obama can be.
With the Newtown shootings weighing heavily on everyone's mind, with parents still grieving and flowers still being laid on children's graves, Obama chose to describe Republicans who favor lower spending as hostage takers demanding a ransom "with a gun at the head of the American people." So if you want to balance the budget, you're like a deranged killer.
In case you think I'm being overly critical, I wasn't the only one struck by the president's petulance during his press conference yesterday.
Dana Milbank, a columnist for the Washington Post, wrote that Obama "showed unrelenting hostility toward the opposition" punctuated "with dismissive shrugs and skeptical frowns." Milbank added that Obama was being unnecessarily "adversarial" and seemed more interested in trying to "bait Republicans."
This kind of petty partisanship is beneath the office of the presidency, or at least it has been until now. With Obama, new depths are being plumbed.
Media Malfeasance
The front page of today's Washington Post has a bold headline: "Most Support Gun Control." The headline comes from a new Post poll that purports to show broad public support for new restrictions on the Second Amendment. The left-wing media clearly has its agenda, and it's not yours.
According to the Post's own poll, "enacting stricter gun control laws" ranked fourth on a list of priorities that the public wants Washington to address. The economy was the highest priority, followed by "reducing federal spending" and "restructuring the federal tax system." That gun control ranked as a relatively low priority was glossed over in the article. Of course, the GOP usually has the high ground on the first three issues.
A new Gallup survey found similar results. Asked to identify the "most important problem" facing the country, only 4% of respondents said "gun control." The issue tied for sixth place behind the economy, the federal budget deficit, dissatisfaction with government, unemployment and lack of money.
Demonstrating once again this administration's contempt for public opinion, Politico reports that Vice President Joe Biden told a small cadre of House Democrats yesterday that his task force has "identified 19 executive actions for President Barack Obama to move unilaterally on gun control."
Think about that. The American people want the economy fixed and they want spending brought under control. But...
Obama's obsessive tax-hiking won't help the economy.
He is refusing to negotiate on spending.
Senate Democrats have not produced a budget in nearly four years.
Yet Obama does have a long "to do list" that will limit your Second Amendment freedoms!
Far from reaching out to Republicans and seeking common ground for the greater good, Obama is overreaching once again, just like he did in the early days of his first term. His cabinet appointments are another example of his excessive "adversarial" stance. You can read more about that in my latest column at humanevents.com.
If Obama keeps this up, and he will, there is a decent chance that the 2014 elections will look a lot like the 2010 elections -- a year of conservative victories!
Meet Andrew Smith
A few months ago, I was at Reagan National Airport waiting to board an already-late flight. Nearby I noticed a family looking in my direction. The husband and wife and their two daughters looked like the countless tourists that come to the nation's capital. I nodded to them and the mother walked over in my direction smiling.
Her name was Catherine Smith. She recognized me and wanted to say, "Hello" and encourage me. I thanked her and asked if she and her family were here on vacation.
That is when I learned that the Smiths were here to visit their son, Andrew, who was at Walter Reed Hospital recuperating from grievous wounds he suffered in Afghanistan. When he was out on patrol, an improvised explosive device (IED) destroyed both his legs.
The story of Andrew and his wife, Tori, and how they have been dealing with his road back from his wounds should inspire everyone. What the Taliban meant for evil, Andrew, Tori and their families have turned into good, and through it they have brought glory to God.
Andrew still has many challenging days ahead. He just completed another round of major surgery. You can find out more about Andrew at teamandrewsmith.com.
I hope you will join me in praying for this family and all the American families who have given so much to defend our nation and our freedom. We have massive problems facing our country, but we also have a great reservoir of men and women who are willing to risk everything for faith, family and freedom.
Kudos To Walmart
Walmart is one of America's greatest success stories. Not surprisingly, it has been relentlessly attacked by virtually every left-wing outfit. Today it deserves our appreciation.
Addressing the National Retail Federation's annual conference, Walmart CEO Bill Simon made two major announcements. Walmart will purchase an additional $50 billion of American-made products over the next 10 years in an effort to support American manufacturing and create jobs here at home.
In addition, Walmart is promising to hire more than 100,000 honorably discharged veterans over the next five years. Simon said, "Veterans have a record of performance under pressure. ...They are leaders with discipline, training, and a passion for service. There is a seriousness and sense of purpose that the military instills, and we need it today more than ever."
I couldn't agree more!

Inspiration
"No sooner do I finish explaining to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo why people might need 10 bullets for something other than blowing away deer, than the headlines burst with an example. ... Not only was a 'high capacity magazine' involved, but the story involves a teenage boy in Texas defending his even younger sister from a couple of thugs with one of those dreaded AR-15 'assault rifles': 'The teenage son of a Harris County Precinct 1 deputy shot a home intruder Tuesday afternoon in the 2600 block of Royal Place in northwest Harris County, deputies said. The 15-year-old boy and his 12-year-old sister had been home alone in the Mount Royal Village subdivision when around 2:30 p.m. a pair of burglars tried the front and back doors, then broke a back window. The teenager grabbed his father's assault rifle and knew what to do with it. "We don't try to hide things from our children in law enforcement," Lt. Jeffrey Stauber said. "That young boy was protecting his sister. He was in fear for his life and her life." The home invaders fled, leaving a trail of blood.' This Lt. Stauber sounds like exactly the kind of guy I'd want coming to the rescue if I were under attack by murderous thugs. And I have no doubt that he'd want to be there for me, with all his heart, just like countless other dedicated law-enforcement professionals. But that's not how it works. ... [Y]ou might have to pull that trigger, and if you've got two or three predators closing in on you and your wife, children, or 12-year-old sister, you will almost certainly need more than six rounds to put them down. ... Every single thing that some sneering elitist thinks you don't 'need' enough to warrant respect for your Second Amendment rights has come clearly and obviously to the defense of innocent people in these incidents. In fact, all of them have involved the defense of children." --Human Events columnist John Hayward
Opinion in Brief
Responding to Obama's disarmament agenda by declaring, "I will not comply": "My friend Mark Alexander, publisher of PatriotPost.US, one of the most widely subscribed grassroots journals in the nation ... threw down the gauntlet by stating in terms reminiscent of those uttered so often by our Founding Fathers: 'In keeping with the oath I have taken in the service of my country, I will "support and defend" Liberty as "endowed by our Creator" and enshrined in our Constitution, "against all enemies, foreign and domestic." Accordingly, I will not comply with any defensive weapons ban instituted by executive order, legislative action or judicial dictate, which violates the innate human right to defend self and Liberty, as empowered by "the right of the People to keep and bear arms."' That's the way Americans used to speak, as those of us who grew up reading American history books recall, before the PC crowd revamped textbooks so that they demeaned the likes of Jefferson, Adams and Patrick Henry. I believe that there are enough patriots in this country who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Mr. Alexander to prevent this administration from confiscating constitutionally-protected weapons." --columnist Burt Prelutsky

James O'Keefe strikes again in his latest undercover video. O'Keefe's merry pranksters go door to door soliciting high and mighty anti-gun advocates to plant lawn signs proclaiming THIS HOME IS PROUDLY GUN FREE in their yards.
Posing as "Citizens Against Senseless Violence," we visit the homes of journalists working for Westchester Journal News, MSNBC, and the Star-Ledger. We also visited the home of Eric Holder. None will take our signs that say "THIS HOME IS PROUDLY GUN FREE."
Since these reporters and editors did not consider it a violation of the privacy and safety of others to reveal which homes have guns and which homes don't, we went to see which of them would be willing to put a sign up publicly declaring their homes to be gun-free zones. While we didn't find any members of the media with the strength of their convictions, we did find quite a few guns, and some good explanations for why they might be necessary..... Guns for Me, but not for Thee.
If laughter is the best medicine, I do believe O'Keefe has the cure - at least until tomorrow.
Chuck Schumer will support Chuck Hagel's nomination for Secretary of Defense. With Schumer's support, Hagel is likely to be confirmed. But then, as we have said, Schumer was always likely to support the nomination.
Schumer's announcement follows a meeting with Hagel in which the nominee professed support for a series of pro-Israel positions including ones that are inconsistent with those he has taken in the past:
Schumer said that his support was sown up after Hagel - whom Obama formally nominated last week after a month of preparation - committed to several positions regarding Iran that met with Schumer's preference. As a two-term senator, Hagel had been unique in positions calling for direct talks the Iranian regime and opposing unilateral sanctions by the United States against the renegade regime. In a very detailed statement, Schumer said Hagel left no doubt that he would support a very aggressive posture toward Tehran.
"Senator Hagel rejected a strategy of containment and expressed the need to keep all options on the table in confronting that country. But he didn't stop there," Schumer said. "In our conversation, Senator Hagel made a crystal-clear promise that he would do 'whatever it takes' to stop Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons, including the use of military force. He said his "top priority" as secretary of defense would be the planning of military contingencies related to Iran.
Hagel also pledged to continue supporting the delivery of F-35 Joint Strike Fighters to Israel and in general supported Israel's right to a strong "qualitative military edge," as its leaders like to assert.
I could find no information as to whether Hagel asked Schumer if, in extracting these assurances, the New York Senator was acting on behalf of the "Jewish lobby" or serving as the Senator from Israel.
Hagel's statements plainly represent a confirmation conversion. He fancies himself as the one politician in Washington willing to utter "the truth" about Israel in the face of the all-powerful pro-Israel lobby. But when push came to shove, Hagel did an about-face, saying whatever was necessary to satisfy his personal ambition.
Schumer is too smart to deny Hagel's about-face. So he tried to dress it up as a response to changed conditions in the Middle East:
Senator Hagel realizes the situation in the Middle East has changed, with Israel in a dramatically more endangered position than it was even five years ago. His views are genuine, and reflect this new reality.
This is nonsense. The threat to Israel is essentially the same as it was five years ago - the threat posed by Iran's quest to develop nuclear weapons. To be sure, Iran is closer now to developing nukes than it was five years ago. But everyone knew five years ago that Iran would be closer now. It's as if a politician were to claim he's changed his position on the need to buy snow ploughs because winter has arrived.
To my knowledge, Hagel never qualified his statement that the military option against Iran "is not a viable, feasible, responsible option" by adding that if Iran reaches a certain point, the military option would become viable, feasible, or reponsible. Schumer's rationale doesn't even rise to the level of a fig-leaf.
All that's left is for Hagel - the tough guy, plain speaking iconoclast - to repeat his craven performance in public under questioning from the likes of John McCain. Presumably he'll be able to remember his lines and hold his tongue. Either way, it should be an amusing spectacle.
But it won't be amusing to watch Hagel try to administer the Pentagon - a task for which, as far as I can tell, he lacks both the skill and the intellectual fire power.
UPDATE: Hagel supporters may point to a Washington Post op-ed he co-signed with four others in September 2012 as evidence that Hagel had by then revised his views on military action towards Iran. Of course, by last September, Hagel was already angling for the Secretary of Defense job. In any event, as I argued here, the op-ed doesn't really alter his longstanding opposition to the military option.
We have discussed the District of Columbia's decision not to prosecute David Gregory for violating its gun law. In doing so, we mentioned that the decision was made by District of Columbia Attorney General Irvin Nathan, who turns out to be a social acquaintance of Gregory and his wife.
William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection first reported this connection (to my knowledge). Now, he considers whether Nathan should have recused himself from involvement in the decision whether to prosecute Gregory. Jacobson writes:
If I were in that position, having interacted socially with the subject of the potential prosecution and his wife, even if only once, I would have felt uncomfortable as to whether I could make a truly impartial decision whether to prosecute. Even if I felt I could, I would have worried how it would be perceived by the public if a photo of the event [in which the interaction occurred] came out.
Jacobson has never been a prosecutor, so he reached out to my friend Bill Otis, a career federal prosecutor, for his opinion. Here is Bill's take:
In my view, a prosecutor should refrain from making a prosecute-or-not decision involving any potential defendant the prosecutor knows socially. Except where the acquaintanceship is so slight that no reasonable person could question the prosecutor's impartiality, the prosecutor should recuse himself.
In the case of Mr. Nathan, what I would have done is ask someone from the US Attorney's Office to come in as a Special Assistant to the DC Attorney General and make the decision.
The reason for this is that, even where the degree of acquaintance, and thus the likelihood of partiality, is low, the appearance of partiality is what needs to be avoided. This was especially true in the David Gregory case, for two reasons.
First, Gregory and Nathan are in the Georgetown cocktail party set, which the public already suspects of a great deal of mutual backscratching, a schmoozing process not available to your ordinary Joe waiting tables in Arlington.
Second, the potential case here was already a flash point. Many, especially on the conservative side, think that a non-prosecution decision reflects a double standard. They suspect that if some NRA-type had done the same thing on, say, Fox News, in an appearance designed to oppose, rather than promote, gun control, the NRA-type would in short order have found himself on the wrong end of an indictment.
That seems to me to be speculation, but I can see the conservatives' point. The fact of the matter is that Gregory did violate the law, so the decision whether to prosecute was discretionary. Discretion by definition is exercised against the backdrop of the prevailing attitudes in the prosecutor's jurisdiction, and the prevailing attitude in DC favors those speaking up for gun control and disfavors, as troglodytes or worse, those holding the opposing view. The decision not to prosecute also seems particularly suspect in view of the fact, reported in some circles, that Gregory or NBC or both had been warned that showing the ammo clip, even if empty, would indeed be a crime.
Thus, and predictably, the non-prosecution decision has an unfortunate aroma. This could have been avoided, or at least largely avoided, by bringing in an experienced prosecutor from outside Nathan's Office who did not know Gregory.
Bill believes, however, that Nathan reached the correct decision in not prosecuting Gregory. This is a topic for another post.
Bill does not assert any violation of legal ethics by Nathan, only that it would have been better for him to avoid any appearance of partiality by recusing himself. For the reasons Bill states, I think it would have been much better for Nathan to have recused himself, and find it quite disappointing that he did not.
A few days ago Bill Kristol posted a reader email on the Weekly Standard blog (the first blog you should read after Power Line) about how Republicans are neglecting the lessons of Xenophon, which we linked to in our "Picks" section here. By coincidence, I begin a close reading of Xenophon's Education of Cyrus with my Pepperdine University graduate class on political leadership this morning.
The Cyropaedia, like the rest of Xenophon's corpus, has tended to be neglected, but has been making a comeback in recent decades. It has been justly compared to Machiavelli's Prince for its ambition and depth of insight about the nature and difficulties of ruling. The opening poses a great and basic question about political life for students to ponder: Why are human beings hard to govern? Xenophon notes that sheep, pigs, and cattle are easy to govern, and never revolt against their rulers, whereas human beings are more or less in a constant state of revolt against their rulers. Just when you think Xenophon is going to give up at the lesson that political instability is the unsolvable problem of human life (and this shortening the Cyropaedia to an op-ed), he takes a turn that launches the rest of the book:
Now when we have considered these things, we are inclined to this judgment about them; It is easier, given his nature, for a human being to rule all other kinds of animals than to rule human beings But when we reflected that there was Cyrus, a Persian, who acquired very many people, very many cities, and very many nations, all obedient to himself, we were thus compelled to change our mind to the view that ruling human beings does not belong to those tasks which are impossible, or even among those that are difficult, if one does it with knowledge.
So, the person the Obama Administration has placed all our chips on in Egypt, the supposedly moderate Mohamad Morsi (pay no attention to the Muslim Brotherhood behind the curtain), turns out not to like Israel or Jews. As the New York Timesreports this morning:
Nearly three years ago, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood delivered a speech urging Egyptians to "nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred" for Jews and Zionists. In a television interview around that time, the same leader described Zionists as "these bloodsuckers who attack the Palestinians, these warmongers, the descendants of apes and pigs."
I especially love Times reporter David Kirkpatrick's droll analysis:
In recent months, he has begun to forge a personal bond with President Obama around their successful efforts to broker a truce between Israel and Palestinian militants of the Gaza Strip.
But the exposure this month of his virulent comments from early 2010, both documented on video, have revealed sharp anti-Semitic and anti-Western sentiments, raising questions about Mr. Morsi's efforts to present himself as a force for moderation and stability.
What could possibly go wrong? To borrow Glenn Reynolds' formulation, the country's in the very best of hands.
Yesterday, President Obama accused his opposition in Congress of threatening to "default" on America's loans in order to make a political point.
I am not going to have a monthly or every three months conversation about whether or not we pay our bills because that in and of itself does severe damage. Even the threat of default hurts our economy. It's hurting our economy as we speak. We shouldn't be having that debate.
But the "threat of default," as Obama called it, is a red herring.
"Suggesting that the United States might default on its debt is factually wrong and shameful behavior on the President's part," Heritage's J.D. Foster, the Norman B. Ture Senior Fellow in the Economics of Fiscal Policy, said yesterday.
The U.S. is not going to default on its interest payments, Foster said, and "this assurance rests not on congressional action to raise the debt ceiling, but on the simple fact that the Treasury has far more than enough funds to pay all interest as it comes due."
Facts have been slim in the President's rhetoric on the debt ceiling. And in his press conference yesterday, he dug himself into a deeper hole, again arguing against his toughest opponent: the Barack Obama of 2006.
In 2006, when Republicans were trying to raise the debt ceiling, then-Senator Barack Obama said, "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can't pay its own bills."
Yesterday in his press conference, the President argued the opposite. This time, he said raising the debt ceiling was simply an acknowledgement of the country's bills:
America cannot afford another debate with this Congress about whether or not they should pay the bills they've already racked up.
The Heritage Foundation isn't the only one that has noticed the President's complete reversal of his position on this issue. This morning, The Washington Post's "Fact Checker," Glenn Kessler, revisits then-Senator Obama's 2006 speech arguing against raising the debt ceiling. Kessler contrasts Obama then with Obama now:
On Monday, at a news conference, he urged lawmakers to boost the debt limit without conditions: "We're going to have to make sure that people are looking at this in a responsible way, rather than just through the lens of politics." (In other words, don't do what I did back when I was a lawmaker.)
Kessler usually awards public figures with a number of "Pinocchios" if he finds them to be stretching the truth. But in this case, he gives Obama an "upside-down Pinocchio"-an unusual rating:
For making an argument that the president now decries as politics, he earns the upside-down Pinocchio, signifying a major-league flip-flop. (We have rarely given this ruling, but are eager for other examples from readers.)
Though Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke have questioned the need for a debt ceiling, lawmakers of both parties have acknowledged that it gives Congress unique leverage with the President to demand spending cuts or other policy changes in exchange for increasing the limit. And cutting spending is exactly what Members of Congress should be doing right now.
As Heritage's Foster put it, "Talk is cheap, but the consequences of continuing on today's path of massive deficit spending will prove very expensive, if not downright ruinous, for future generations. And so Republicans are exactly right to use the debt ceiling debate to force the President to move beyond conversations and dialogue, to leadership and action."
For the better part of a decade (and probably longer), there has been a cottage industry among liberal commentators dismissing the Constitution as broken and outdated. So when Georgetown law professor Louis Michael Seidman wrote a New York Times op-ed admonishing America to just "give up on the Constitution," most conservatives dismissed him as another liberal picking and choosing which parts of the Constitution to keep. However, Mr. Seidman's argument is more radical than the usual liberal critiques of the Constitution.
Next Monday, at his second inauguration, President Obama will swear an oath on a stack of Bibles, including one owned by Abraham Lincoln.
President Obama loves to cloak himself in the legacy of Lincoln. He's invoked Lincoln to justify tax-code tweaks, regulatory schemes, and an insatiable ardor for big government. Mr. President, you can use Lincoln's Bible, but don't abuse his legacy.
Jim DeMint left Congress and moved across the street to the Heritage Foundation, where the mission is to formulate and promote conservative ideas. As the new President of Heritage Mr. DeMint will take this message directly to the American people.

But while politicians pay lip service to cutting government waste, fraud and abuse, they're doing very little in practice to stop the EBT party excesses. Where's the compassion for taxpayers?... Is Obama Shaping a New Majority? By Patrick J. Buchanan In the 20th century, only two presidents -- FDR and Nixon -- shaped new governing coalitions that outlasted them. Barack Obama seems to be taking a page out of the playbook of these coalition builders. Since re-election, he has been actively seeking out confrontations to drive wedges through the Republican Party.
Are Guns the Problem? By Walter E. Williams For well over a half-century, the nation's liberals and progressives - along with the education establishment, pseudo-intellectuals and the courts - have waged war on traditions, customs and moral values. But it's those customs, traditions, moral values and rules of etiquette -- not laws and government regulations -- that make for a civilized society, causing people to behave themselves even if nobody's watching.
The Universal Unionization Section of the Department of Organized Labor for the USSA has launched an investigation into news that a Drug Use Enforcement Agency officer obtained a non-unionized prostitute for two Secret Service Police officers in Columbia, who were detailed to protect the Party Chairman, Comrade Barack Barackovich Obama during his April 2012 visit to the South American nation.
The Section launched its probe after a review of Columbian law, which does allow some prostitution with 'tolerance zones,' but offers neither Unionized collective-bargaining rights nor Universal Health Care to sex workers.
As a result, the DUEA officer and two Secret Police officers are suspected to have violated Party discipline, which forbids all contact with non-unionized workers...
NY Senate passes radical new gun regulations
Shocked? The state of New York was the first to pass a series of new reforms and regulations in the wake of the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary. How do conservatives win the debate over new gun regulations?
Debates over the proposed gun laws are starting to heat up, but is anything really going to happen? On last night's show Glenn was cautiously optimistic, saying that as far as the current round of negotiations go, the talk will ultimately result in a compromise. But since we all know that this administration never lets a good crisis go to waste, Glenn was quick to warn of what could happen next time tragedy strikes.
Jesse Jackson: Blame the gun manufacturers
Do "assault rifles" have the capacity to shoot down airplanes? According to Rev. Jesse Jackson, they do. In a recent interview with Fox News, Jackson said semi-automatic rifles are a "threat to national security" and gun manufacturers must be "more accountable for their product." Glenn reacted to these claims on radio this morning.
