Democrat plan lets Obama run for 3rd term

third_termd (Dr. Jerome Corsi/ Tea Party) - Democratic Party Rep. Jose Serrano of New York has introduced into Congress a bill to repeal the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution that imposes a prohibition against any president serving more than two terms in office.

This has triggered the fear that President Barack Obama, fresh off defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney, is preparing to run or otherwise appoint himself president for life.

First, for those who are concerned, there is a petition posted on PopVox.com that allows each one of us to oppose Rep. Serrano's House Joint Resolution 15 to repeal the 22 Amendment.

As of this writing, 99 percent of those expressing their views on PopVox.com of the approximately 5,000 who have voted are opposed to repealing the 22 Amendment.

Truthfully, fears that this is a power-grab by Obama are unfounded, although Obama's arrogant disregard of the Constitution and his repeated presidential directives that have functioned to circumvent Congress and the legislative process give rise to the concern Obama has little understanding of or appreciation for the limits of his office our Founding Fathers intended.

Masters Of Manipulation - Lib-Speak VI: A Lefty-Con for the Age of Obama
GrassTopsUSA Exclusive Commentary
By Don Feder
01/08/2013

Leftists are masters of language manipulation. Through clever clichés, their ideology permeates the popular culture. These catchphrases come with built-in assumptions/delusions about the way the world works - or doesn't. (Expressions like "pay their fair share of taxes" incorporate a certain mentality about the issue at hand.) Swallow the cliché whole, and the hook is firmly embedded.

This is Part VI of my ongoing series on language mutilation - "Lib-Speak: A Lefty-Con for the Age of Obama." At the end, there are links to Parts I-V.

Killed by a Gun - (AKA Killed by gun violence) - Liberalism's serene faith in gun control is rooted in its rejection of free will and the unshakable belief that every social ill can be solved with another law. "Killed by a gun" (or "Killed by gun violence") epitomizes this mindset.

AAA warns E15 gasoline could cause car damage

E15, a higher blend of ethanol and gasoline, has rolled out in a handful of states. But its use in older vehicles is generating warnings from AAA, which says E15 could be harmful to pre-2012 vehicles.

The AAA says the Environmental Protection Agency and gasoline retailers should halt the sale of E15, a new ethanol blend that could damage millions of vehicles and void car warranties.

AAA, which issued its warning Friday, says just 12 million of more than 240 million cars, trucks and SUVs now in use have manufacturers' approval for E15. Flex-fuel vehicles, 2012 and newer General Motors vehicles, 2013 Fords and 2001 and later model Porsches are the exceptions, according to AAA, the nation's largest motorist group, with 53.5 million members.

"It is clear that millions of Americans are unfamiliar with E15, which means there is a strong possibility that many may improperly fill up using this gasoline and damage their vehicle," AAA President and CEO Robert Darbelnet tells USA TODAY. "Bringing E15 to the market without adequate safeguards does not responsibly meet the needs of consumers."

ACTION ALERT

January 7, 2013

ALERT:

On Monday, President Barack Obama nominated former Republican Senator Chuck Hagel to be his next Secretary of Defense in succession to Leon Panetta. Chuck Hagel's record is one of being a frightening and dangerous apologist for terrorist groups like Hamas and Hizballah, as well as for the Iranian terrorist regime, while being arguably one of the most vicious and hostile critics of Israel. The ZOA believes that appointing Chuck Hagel as Defense Secretary would also serve to confirm the fears that many have that President Obama is no friend of Israel and is not serious about stopping Iran's nuclear program.

ACTION:

Please call your U.S. Senators to urge President Obama not to nominate Chuck Hagel and to vote against his appointment if Hagel's name goes forward for Secretary of Defense. You can reach all U.S. Senators through the Capitol Hill switchboard: 202-224-3121.

Call Sen. Casey 202-224-6324

Call Sen. Toomey 202-224-4254

New Jersey:

Call Sen. Menendez 202-224-4744

Delaware:

Call Sen. Carper 202-224-2441

Call Sen. Coons 202-224-5042

BACKGROUND:

  • In 2009, Hagel signed a letter urging President Obama to begin direct negotiations with Hamas, a U.S. designated terrorist group committed in its Charter to the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews, a position President Obama has not taken up.
  • In 2008, Hagel was "solely responsible" for blocking an Iran sanctions bill (Seth Colter Walls, 'Dems Blame Senate GOP For Blocking Iran Sanctions Bill,' Huffington Post, March 10, 2008).
  • In a 2006 interview with former Middle East negotiator Aaron David Miller, Hagel said that "the Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people" on Capitol Hill ('Hagel named to intelligence board,' Jewish Telegraphic Agency, October 29, 2009).
  • In August 2006, Hagel was one of only 12 Senators who refused to formally call upon the European Union to designate as a terrorist organization Hizballah, which in 1983 murdered 242 U.S. marines in Beirut ('NJDC Criticizes Senators for Refusing to Call on EU to add Hezbollah to List of Terrorist Organizations,' National Jewish Democratic Council press release, August 7, 2006).
  • In July 2006, at the outbreak of the Lebanon war, Hagel argued against giving Israel the time to break Hizballah, urging instead an immediate ceasefire ('Key Republican breaks with Bush on Mideast,' CNN.com, July 31, 2006).
  • December 2005: Hagel was one of only 27 senators who refused to sign a letter to President Bush urging him to pressure the Palestinian Authority (PA) to ban terrorist groups from participating in Palestinian legislative elections.
  • June 2004, Hagel refused to sign a letter urging President Bush to highlight Iran's nuclear program at the G-8 summit and was one of only two senators in to vote against renewal of the Libya-Iran sanctions act.
  • November 2001: Hagel was one of only 11 senators who refused to sign a letter urging President Bush not to meet with the late Yasser Arafat until his forces ended the violence against Israel.
  • In July 2001, Hagel was one of only two senators to vote against extending the original Iranian sanctions bill.
  • October 2000: Hagel was one of only four senators who refused to sign a Senate letter in support of Israel.

Fed-up Americans to flood D.C. with outrage

"They picked a fight with the wrong people"

by Chelsea Schilling

This month, hundreds of thousands of Americans will march on Washington, D.C., in defense of the nearly 56 million babies killed in the womb since the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion 40 years ago - and now even the millions who can't travel the nation's capital will flood the offices of President Obama, key government officials and mainstream news media with as many as 2 million empty red envelopes bearing a very clear message:

"This envelope represents one child who died in abortion. It is empty, a life taken that was unable to offer anything to the world. Responsibility and life begin at conception."

Jan. 22, 2013, is the 40th memorial of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. Now that day has been designated Red Envelope Day as Americans plan to send a visual expression of moral outrage deep into the halls of Congress, beyond the marble columns of the Supreme Court and into the Oval Office.

Red Envelope Day 2013 gives participants the choice to send red envelopes to:

BENGHAZI POSTCARD CAMPAIGN

Patriots,

I know there is a lot going on and many are over whelmed.  But please keep in mind that is the objective.  Cloward and Piven - over load the people so they become so over whelmed they give in and give up.   So just keep this in mind.  A lot of what is going on is to divert our attention from the real issue.  BENGHAZI.

PLEASE purchase 10 postcards. PLEASE ask EVERYONE you know and all members of your group to purchase just 10 postcards and send them to Representative Darrell Issa.

Examples of what you can put on the card are:

WE DEMAND TO KNOW WHO GAVE THE ORDER TO STAND DOWN IN BENGHAZI and PROSECUTE THEM TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW

"WE THE PEOPLE" DEMAND AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION OF BENGHAZI

"WE THE PEOPLE" DEMAND TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT BENGHAZI

Use one of the statements, use them all or make up your own but please just 10 postcards from the post office or purchase Gadsden postcards from agenda21today.com.  You can buy just a couple or you can buy 1000 for $85 (includes shipping in the USA).

Phone calls are also recommended.  Just think if we and everyone we knew sent 10 postcards and made 1 phone call to Rep. Issa it might just make a difference.

Representative Darrell Issa

Washington DC Office * 2347 Rayburn House Office Building * Washington, DC 20515 * Phone: 202-225-3906 * Fax: 202-225-3303

The stamp for a post card is 32 cents.  That is $3.20 for postage on 10 cards.  My Gadsden cards ARE IN THE MAIL.  Please let me know if you decide to participate.  Let me know if you are getting a group together for a postcard writing campaign to Rep. Issa.

Act for America

Yes, it's true: You can support ACT! for America-at no cost to you!     An important message from
Guy Rodgers, Executive Director

The next time you make an online purchase of almost anything, you could be helping ACT! for America-at no cost to you.

Sound too good to be true? It isn't.

All you have to do is sign up for "iGive"-a program that's been around since 1997.

The concept is as powerful as it is simple.

Every time an iGive member makes an online purchase at over 1,000 brand-name stores, a percentage of that purchase is donated to that person's charity of choice.

And with the holidays just around the corner, you could be helping ACT! for America with every gift you buy!

The concept isn't new. In the mid-1990s many supporters of non-profit organizations signed up with long distance telephone programs where a percentage of their bill was donated to their charity of choice.

But our investigation of iGive has convinced us that this program has an ease of use and sophistication that we find remarkable.

  • Imagine booking a hotel room on Orbitz-and having 1.6% of that purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
  • Or buying an Xbox at Best Buy-and having 1.2% of the purchase price donated to ACT! for America.

The same goes for buying merchandise at Amazon, Bath and Body Works, Advance Auto Parts, Game Stop, Kmart, Home Depot, Holiday Inn, Old Navy, NASCAR Superstore, Overstock.com, Mattel, J.C. Penney, Office Max, QVC, Radio Shack, Shoe Carnival, Pottery Barn-and on and on the list goes.

In other words, every time you make a purchase of merchandise you would buy anyway, you would be financially supporting ACT! for America!

All you have to do is log on below and follow the directions to create your account and download the iGive "button." (Note: downloading the "button" is key).

Get Started Here!

When I was first informed of iGive, I was skeptical. I've seen these ideas come and go. Often, they're too good to be true. Or there are all kinds of glitches and problems.

So I spent hours researching.

I looked at online customer reviews (which were very good). I read all of iGive's fine print, such as Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. I signed up and even emailed two tech support questions to see how good their tech support was.

And the more I dug, the more I liked what I saw. For instance, both of my tech support questions were responded to within 60 minutes. How often does THAT happen?

As you know from our Patriot Partner program, we're all about encouraging a lot of people to each do a little-to do something. When everyone does a little, together we accomplish a lot.

So consider what could happen.

If just 1% of ACT! for America members each purchased just $400 in merchandise in 2013, from all the available outlets, and the average percentage donated to ACT! was 1.5%, the total amount donated back to ACT! for America would be...

...$15,000. That's a lot of money, wouldn't you agree?

And if you were one of those ACT! for America members, it wouldn't cost you one thin dime to help ACT! for America receive $15,000.

If this idea really caught on, and eventually 5% of our members made purchases with iGive, that $15,000 could explode to $50,000, $75,000 or more!

What's more, that 1.5% figure might be low. Many of the merchants offer percentage donations that are much higher. One printer inkjet company I looked at offered 13%!

Every merchant website you visit tells you right at the top what percentage of your purchase price will be donated to ACT! for America.

Just think what we could accomplish with an extra $15,000, $50,000 or $75,000 in our fight against radical Islam!

Get Started Here!

One of the things I most wanted to know was their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Check it out for yourself. I confirmed the terms with a company representative. And I like what I learned. As security-conscious as I am, I have no hesitation using the service-and I'm already doing so.

I know there are many people out there who would love to support ACT! for America, or give more than they're giving, but in these tough economic times they simply can't.

Well, here's a way that everyone who believes in our mission can easily support what we're doing-at no cost to them.

It doesn't get any better than that.

There are already chapter leaders who have signed up for the program, and the feedback I have been getting from them has been all positive. They love the idea and many of them are already using it.

So please, join me and these ACT! for America chapter leaders who are already signed up and using the iGive service.

Yours for a safe and free America

Guy Rodgers

The Annual Jay Michael Swartz Memorial Lecture: An Evening with Michael Medved

AMERICAN JEWS AND CHRISTIAN EVANGELICALS: IRRECONCILABLE ENEMIES OR INEVITABLE ALLIES?

Michael Medved is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host and bestselling author. His daily show is heard by over 3.75 million people across the country. Born in Philadelphia, Michael won admission to Yale at age 16 as a National Merit Scholar. He majored in American History and graduated with honors, before attending Yale Law School, where his classmates included Bill and Hillary Clinton. Michael wrote his first bestseller at age 26 - "What Really Happened to the Class of '65?" - a skeptical reconsideration of the "counterculture" of the 1960's that became a weekly TV series on NBC.

Many American Jews distrust and even fear the rise of the evangelical Christianity. They see this religious movement as a threat to the survival of Judaism in the United States and to the continuance of a society that values pluralism and religious liberty. On the other hand increasing numbers of American Jews view evangelicals as natural allies, not just when it comes to support of Israel, but on a range of social issues here in the U.S. In this provocative presentation, Michael Medved will explain where Jews and Christians already agree, and where they can never agree, in their participation in the ongoing battles shaping American society.

Infiltrated

Individuals sympathetic to the Muslim Brotherhood's sinister agenda have infiltrated the Obama Administration.

Brainwashed by the Muslim Students Association and then propelled in to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the David Horowitz Freedom Center tracks the path of Huma Abedin and other Muslim sympathizers who have navigated their way into positions of great influence in the Obama Administration. Everything is revealed in the explosive new Freedom Center pamphlet, "The Muslim Brotherhood in the Obama Administration," written by Frank Gaffney, national security expert who served as Assistant Secretary of Defense under Ronald Reagan.

The David Horowitz Freedom Center is committed to educating the public on the Muslim Brotherhood's sinister Agenda. That is why we are giving away this pamphlet for FREE.

Stop so-called Filibuster Reform!

January 8, 2013

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is resorting to more dirty tricks to silence conservative opposition to his liberal agenda. This time, he convinced a few Republicans to go along with an alleged compromise on so-called "filibuster reform," but the result will be the same - conservatives will be shut out of the process of legislating. Click here for an excellent analysis of the compromise by our friend Hans von Spakovsky of the Heritage Foundation.

In a recent alert, we broke down the complex scam Harry Reid is pulling on the American people by using Senate procedure to not only shut conservatives out of the process, but to create the illusion that he is actually including them, then accusing them of being obstructionist. Click here to read how he doing this and how it violates Senate rules.

We are thankful for conservatives like Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky who recently wrote this article explaining what Senator Reid is doing, how it will destroy the Senate, and pledging to stand up against Reid's tyranny.

While this might seem like arcane Senate procedure, the filibuster is an essential tool for the minority in the Senate. Without it, conservatives will have no chance of stopping any of the radical anti-life, anti-family, anti-freedom legislation and nominees that we know we can expect in President Obama's lame duck term. As Steven Duffield points out in this article, this change could have a devastating effect on the Senate's role in confirming President Obama's Supreme Court nominees. There is much at stake, and we must oppose this rules change!

Take Action!

Your Senators are back in their home states until January 21st. Please take this time to call them, visit their offices or attend town hall meetings or other gatherings to urge them to protect the Constitution and the integrity of the Senate by opposing Senator Reid's so-called "filibuster reform."

This is not necessarily a liberal vs. conservative issue. This movement toward ending the filibuster is being pushed by liberal sophomore Senators who have not yet experienced governing in the minority. We need to keep working so they will have that experience after the 2014 election! In the meantime, we need to encourage all Senators, particularly longer-term liberals who know what it is like serving in the minority, who understand the importance of the filibuster to avoid majority tyranny.  Some such Senators have expressed concerns about this change.

Call your Senators today and tell them to oppose so-called filibuster reform, even if it appears to be bi-partisan.

RedState Morning Briefing

RedState Morning Briefing

For January 9, 2013

1.  Do It For America

Neal Boortz is one of the most popular talk radio hosts in the country. I'm proud to guest host for him when he is gone.

January 18, 2013, is Neal's last day on the air, after which time I will begin in earnest harassing Rush Limbaugh to let me be his guest host. Heck, I'd even change my name to Mark.

Boortz bought some really ugly golf pants and big RV and he's going off into the sunset with his vastly better half on Inauguration Day.

As a parting gift from America, please consider signing this White House petition. Neal wants an hour of the President's time to talk tax policy, particularly the FairTax. The White House says Neal's petition must get to 25,000 signatures before February 7th to get a White House response.

2. Fact-Checking Matt Damon's 'Promised Land'

I wasted $7.75 on Hollywood's latest anti-fracking agitprop "Promised Land" so you won't have to.

You can read movie reviews elsewhere. From what I've seen, they've been rather lukewarm. And in its first weekend of nationwide distribution, audience response was tepid at best. In the words of lead actor/screenwriter Matt Damon, "Who ****ing wants to go see an anti-fracking movie?"

Not only is the subject matter right in my wheelhouse, Damon et al bring the lies and distortion right into my backyard. Quite literally. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

3.  Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!

Life in DC can be tough, especially when you are stuck playing second fiddle to Tennessee Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn.  Fellow Tennessee Republican Rep. Diane Black found that out last week as the new 113th Congress kicked off and she raced to introduce a pro-life bill that would defund Planned Parenthood.  Unfortunately for Black, she learned her "Jan Brady lesson" the hard way as Blackburn had already introduced an identical bill a day earlier.

As previously covered, on the first day of the new Congress, Blackburn re-introduced former Indiana Rep. Mike Pence's bill from the last Congress, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, which would defund Planned Parenthood and other on demand abortion providers but included small technical changes.  Suspicion quickly arose on Capitol Hill when Black also re-introduced Pence's bill a day later with Blackburn's technical changes. Essentially, both bills alter Pence's language by taking away any prefix or qualifying language as it relates to exceptions dealing with rape, incest and life of the mother.  Anyone who follows pro-life politics knows that there is often great dispute, controversy and competition amongst fellow pro-life groups and politicians, even when they are striving to ultimately achieve the same goals.  Apparently the spirit of one-upmanship is alive and well in every social circle in town.  By now, shouldn't everybody know you don't pirate content from Marsha Blackburn? . . . please click here for the rest of the post

4.  We Need an Activist House GOP

In the field of politics, you either drive the narrative or become a victim of the narrative.  Unfortunately, for most of the 112th Congress, the GOP-controlled House abdicated their power and became a victim of the political narrative driven by Obama and the Democrat Senate.

Over the past two years, the House has been in recess almost every other week.  Additionally, a large chunk of the days in session were spent passing banal suspension votes.  Many conservatives are exuberant whenever Congress is out of session.  "Thank God, the Republic is safe," they say.  I disagree.  Ideally, if Congress would have merely served as a steward for our Constitutional Republic over the past 100 years, a relaxed schedule would be appropriate.  However, with government creeping into every facet of our economy and private lives with interventions, subsidies, regulations, and competition, we need an activist Congress just to restore our Republic. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

CUFI Statement on Hagel Nomination

Department of Defense

David Brog, the executive director of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), released a statement expressing opposition to Sen. Chuck Hagel's nomination as Secretary of Defense:

"CUFI opposes the nomination of Sen. Chuck Hagel as Defense Secretary. While we admire his past service to our country, his record concerning Iran and Hezbollah indicates an unacceptable blindness to the greatest security threat of our day."

Iranian Pastor Released Following Christmas Day Arrest

pastor youcefIn Nov. 2012, it seemed as though Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani's legal problems had finally concluded. But on Christmas Day, the 35-year-old Christian preacher was, once again, detained by Iranian officials and sent to Lakan Prison in Rascht - the same jail he was held in from his arrest in 2010 until his release last year. Today, Nadarkhani was, again, released from the prison after serving 13 days, according to sources close to him and his family.

The initial three-year-sentence was given after Nadarkhani's most recent legal problems began in 2009; he was charged with renouncing his Muslim faith. The pastor's case quickly gained international attention, which, to a degree, may account for the regime's decision to heavily-reduce his initial execution sentence. In fall 2012, he was released 45 days early after being acquitted of apostasy.

Myths and Facts

State Department Legitimizes Terror

January 8, 2013  |  Eli. E. Hertz

update

To whom did the Obama administration grant permission to fly the Palestinian Liberation Organization [PLO] flag in Washington D.C.?

The answer: Palestinian Arabs - A society whose overwhelming majority nurtures a blind hatred of Israel, and has created a cultural milieu of vengeance, violence and death. This organization, which has been directly responsible for the murders of American civilian and security personnel, now has its recognition and flag waving in our capitol.

Here is just a subset of articles from the PLO Charter that the American administration has no shame to honor:

*Article 7: [Individual] must be prepared for the armed struggle and ready to sacrifice his wealth and his life in order to win back his homeland and bring about its liberation.

*Article 9: Armed struggle is the only way to liberate Palestine. This it is the overall strategy, not merely a tactical phase. The Palestinian Arab people assert their absolute determination and firm resolution to continue their armed struggle and to work for an armed popular revolution for the liberation of their country and their return to it. They also assert their right to normal life in Palestine and to exercise their right to self-determination and sovereignty over it.

* Article 10: Commando action constitutes the nucleus of the Palestinian popular liberation war.

* Article 19: The partition of Palestine in 1947 and the establishment of the state of Israel are entirely illegal, regardless of the passage of time, because they were contrary to the will of the Palestinian people and to their natural right in their homeland, and inconsistent with the principles embodied in the Charter of the United Nations, particularly the right to self-determination.

*Article 20: The Balfour Declaration, the Mandate for Palestine, and everything that has been based upon them, are deemed null and void. Claims of historical or religious ties of Jews with Palestine are incompatible with the facts of history and the true conception of what constitutes statehood. Judaism, being a religion, is not an independent nationality. Nor do Jews constitute a single nation with an identity of its own; they are citizens of the states to which they belong.

And if their charter was not convincing enough, the United States Congress, on numerous occasions, has reaffirmed the PLO's status as a terrorist organization.

Although past U.S. presidents have attempted to circumvent this law, its conclusions are concise and unequivocal:

"Therefore, the Congress determines that the PLO and its affiliates are a terrorist organization and a threat to the interests of the United States, its allies, and to international law and should not benefit from operating in the United States."

The violent and disturbing history of the PLO and its Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is one that has dreadfully affected the lives of countless Israelis, Americans, and many others. The PLO is transparent in its criminal and malicious ways, whether it is via their charter, public statements, or incitement that one must question the State Department's wisdom of continual support of the PLO's DC office and the waving of its flag in our Capital.

For Israel, the Palestinians and the rest of the world, the PLO must face reality and reject a culture of hatred; only then should the State Department legitimize the organization and its renewed culture.

  DEBKA File

Israel: State of Syrian chemical weapons could change in a moment

DEBKAfile Special Report January 8, 2013

"Syria's chemical weapons are under control for now, but no one in America or Israel can tell what the situation will be five minutes from now," a senior Israeli defense official told debkafile Tuesday, Jan.8. The situation is dangerously fluid because there is no certainty about who is in control, or when some Syrian chemical unit commander may take it into his head to use it."

There were two touch-and-go moments in the last two months - first, when Assad was on the verge of directing chemical arms to be used against the rebels; second, when Al Qaeda's Jabhat al-Nusrah front fighting in rebel ranks came close to getting hold of them. The first occurred in the last week of November and the second in the last ten days of December.

The New York Times Tuesday reported that, in the first instance, Israel's top military commanders called the Pentagon to discuss troubling intelligence showing up on satellite imagery that "Syrian troops appeared to be mixing chemicals at two storage sites, probably the deadly nerve gas sarin, and filling dozens of 500-pound bombs that could be loaded on airplanes."

American sources then mobilized international forces, Russia, China, Turkey, Jordan and other Arab nations for sharply worded messages to the Syrian ruler Bashar Assad and his senior commanders to stop the mixing of chemicals and preparation of bombs. The sources did not say what persuaded Assad to halt the process. According to debkafile's military sources, there was no direct threat of US or NATO military action in Syria.

Hollow Men in a Hollow Earth

Posted by Daniel Greenfield @ the Sultan Knish blog
We still think of idealists as men in worn coats sleeping on cots in cold basements. Those sorts of men can still be found, but the basements are the old digs of an evicted Latino 7th Day Adventist Church with the paint scraped off to expose the fashionably bare brickwork and go for $2,500 a month on the wrong side of the Williamsburg Bridge strewn with cots from IKEA and kept cold as a statement about Global Warming. Their shivering denizens work profitably at an environmental non-profit as social media managers in the great national and international network of the left.

Five years later they're living in a posh bedroom community in Jersey as the heads of some shell organization aimed at young people that's funded by mysterious family foundations and angling for a job in D.C. advising a Senator or a Cabinet member on the environment. If not they'll have to settle for a gig at some Green consultancy telling old timey corporations on how they can get sustainable to win over the kids and score some sweet tax breaks.

If they're truly lucky, the dedicated idealist may even earn a chance to ghostwrite Al Gore's next book about the environment. At parties, they'll take out a pristine copy of the New York Times bestseller, a status it achieved through the efforts of social media managers who coordinated mass buying efforts followed by mass returns for zero net profit but maximum status, whose cover features Gore gazing contemplatively at the Earth, and whisper to the person they're trying to impress. "I wrote that."

Idealism is a brand now, and few men have profited from it as thoroughly as Albert Arnold Gore Jr. Where former presidents Carter and Clinton dashed to different philanthropies around the world, Gore, true to his stodgy unimaginative image invested in one brand of idealism. Environmentalism. Carter could have his houses and Clinton could sit in luxurious hotel rooms in Haiti counting all that aid money, but Gore, like the intrepid tobacco farmer he was, bet everything on the whole planet.

The appeal of RINO hypocrites at Party headquarters-irresistible!

Jan 08, 2013 05:13 am | Coach Collins

by Suzanne Eovaldi, staff writer

The hypocrites in the Republican Party of Florida are rolling out the snail mail appeals again "to get everyone back on board." I sat for a week at the Congressman Allen West debacle in November to watch disappointed Bill Paterson, Chairman of the Republican Executive Committee in St. Lucie County, keep checking his phone calls and Emails. Are they coming? Are they on the way yet? As he said "no" over and over throughout the long sad week, I saw him shrinking from lack of support from the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) and the attorneys supposedly on their way from Tallahassee (Tally) to oversee the West recount. Nothing! Not one show of support for our brave Colonel West, the only unabashedly vocal spokesman of conservative values in the US House!

I stood in the audience at newly elected Governor Rick Scott's inaugural celebration when he told conservatives: "If it weren't for you, ... Continue Reading:The appeal of RINO hypocrites at Party headquarters-irresistible!

While Republicans, conservatives, and libertarians are all revved-up about gun control, social issues, and even the economy, the real permanent damage is being done elsewhere. Good-bye, Pax Americana. Hello to the era of Kerry, Hagel, and Brennan.

While there are cycles and phases in history, modernity has shown itself full of unique moments and last-minute rescues. I think of New York City before Giuliani; America before Reagan. Things can look pretty dark before the sun comes over the hill. So really the only question is: do you want to grumble and despair or start pushing the sun up the hill? That's what I figured. How About a Bit of Good News for a Change?

January 7, 2013

The Foundation

"[A] good moral character is the first essential in a man, and that the habits contracted at your age are generally indelible, and your conduct here may stamp your character through life. It is therefore highly important that you should endeavor not only to be learned but virtuous." --George Washington

Editor's Note

In 2013, we want to make a concerted effort to bring you at least some good news, which is why we will aim to lead off the Brief with a section called "Inspiration" for that purpose. Enjoy.

Inspiration

2013-01-07-brief

"For most parents, when a child leaves the nest it's usually for good. But at age 51, Tony Tolbert has come home again. ... He announced he was moving back home, because he was giving up his own fully furnished L.A. home, rent free, for a full year -- to a family he'd never even met. 'You don't have to be Bill Gates or Warren Buffet or Oprah,' Tolbert said. 'We can do it wherever we are, with whatever we have, and for me, I have a home that I can make available.' But to whom? Tolbert sought out a shelter for homeless women and children called Alexandria House. It was there he found Felicia Dukes. Needless to say, she couldn't believe the offer when she heard it. 'They had a young man that wanted to donate their house to you for a year,' Dukes recounted. 'And I'm looking at her, like, what? Like -- Are you serious?' ... Tolbert also became emotional when he talked about the life lessons he learned from his father, who is now suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. 'Kindness creates kindness. Generosity creates generosity. Love creates love,' he said. 'And I think if we can share some of that and have more stories about people doing nice things for other people, and fewer stories about people doing horrible things to other people, that's a better world.' Not a bad thought to begin the new year." --CBS News' Lee Cowan

For the Record

"While the December jobs report -- 155,000 net new payrolls, 7.8% unemployment rate -- was more or less in line with official analyst expectations, plenty of Wall Street economists thought it just might surprise to the upside. Maybe 200,000 jobs or more went the 'whisper' estimates. It didn't happen. Instead it was same old, same old. The increase in total nonfarm payroll employment was only a smidgen better than the average 2012 employment growth of 153,000 jobs per month. And that was exactly the same as the average monthly gain for 2011. And at that pace, the US won't return to pre-Great Recession employment levels until after 2025, according to the Jobs Gap calculator from the Hamilton Project. Indeed, if the labor force participation rate last month, 63.6%, were the same as in December 2011, 64.0%, the 'official' or U-3 unemployment rate today would be 8.4%, only a bit better than the December 2011 rate of 8.5%. In addition, average hourly earnings rose by just 2.1% over 2012, about the same as inflation. That means real wage growth was pretty much flat. Hard to call that progress." --American Enterprise Institute's James Pethokoukis

The Coming Avalanche of Debt

Posted: 08 Jan 2013 01:36 PM PST

(John Hinderaker)

The United States is over $16 trillion in debt. The point is rapidly approaching where our young people cannot look forward to a prosperous future, and in November voters chose to make matters worse rather than better. Michael Ramirez depicts the avalanche that is about to descend on our heads:

Will We Finally Get a Budget?

Posted: 08 Jan 2013 01:10 PM PST

(John Hinderaker)

The current federal debt ceiling will be reached next month, and Democrats have been furiously posturing to limit the gains that Republicans can make in exchange for the House's agreement to raise it. President Obama insists that he will not negotiate over the debt ceiling-not ever, not for anything-and Republicans should agree to raise it without getting anything in return. (This is much the same as his position on taxes.) Other Democrats are floating theories that the debt ceiling is unconstitutional, or that the administration can circumvent it by minting a trillion-dollar platinum coin.

In truth, while these ideas are goofy and Obama's position is, as usual, unreasonable, Republicans cannot expect to get much in exchange for their consent to a higher debt limit. The threat to refuse to adjust the debt limit just isn't credible enough, given the consequences that would result: not default, but an inability on the part of the federal government to pay government employees, sustain troops in the field, mail out Social Security checks, and so on. Some conservatives have argued that Republicans should hold out for entitlement reform in exchange for raising the debt limit. They are dreaming. Entitlement reform will happen someday, but not until there is a great deal more political support for it, and not in exchange for an increase in the debt ceiling.

Congressional Republicans have come up with what I think is a good idea: they want to condition approval of a new debt ceiling on Harry Reid's agreement to allow the Senate to adopt a budget. Byron York reports:

The law requires Congress to pass a budget every year, on the grounds that Americans deserve to know how the government plans to spend the trillions of taxpayer dollars it collects, along with dollars it borrows at the taxpayers' expense. But Majority Leader Harry Reid, who last allowed a budget through the Senate in April 2009, has ignored the law since then. ...

The situation is deeply frustrating for many Republicans. Sen. Jeff Sessions, ranking Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, has conducted a virtual crusade on the issue, loudly and consistently and unsuccessfully demanding that Reid obey the law and pass a budget. Now, with a fight over the debt ceiling approaching, Sessions wants to try something new.

"I think it should be a firm principle that we should not raise the debt ceiling until we have a plan on how the new borrowed money will be spent," Sessions told me Monday in a phone conversation from his home in Alabama. "If the government wants to borrow money so it can spend more, then the government ought to tell the Congress and the American people how they will spend it."

There are no specific proposals yet, but under this scenario Republicans would insist on a debt ceiling agreement that includes (among other things) a requirement that Congress pass a budget by a specific date. If that doesn't happen, there would be some sort of enforcement mechanism, perhaps an arrangement whereby the debt ceiling was lowered, or one in which Congress would have to muster a supermajority to raise it again.

What this proposal has going for it is its eminent reasonableness. As Sessions argues, how can the Democrats possibly justify incurring still more debt when they won't even tell the American people how they plan to spend the money? Moreover, the budget is already required by law. The Democrats cannot seriously try to justify their refusal to follow the statute. So far the news media have covered up Harry Reid's illegal conduct, but the debt ceiling negotiations present an opportunity to educate voters regarding the Democratic Party's irresponsibility.

Forcing the Senate to adopt a budget will not, by itself, cut spending by a single dollar. But if voters are able to contrast the GOP's plan for America's fiscal future, as laid out in the House budget, with the long-awaited Democratic plan as finally made public by the Senate, they will see that the Democrats have no plan, other than racking up vast deficits as far as the eye can see. A clear majority will, I think, prefer the Republican approach. Perhaps the battle over entitlement reform will ultimately be framed by the parties' competing budgets.

Today, Jay Carney told reporters that President Obama will not call on the Senate to enact a budget in exchange for an increase in the debt ceiling. No, of course he won't. But he doesn't have to. If Republicans offer to trade the debt ceiling for a budget, I don't see how Harry Reid can say no. This is, most likely, the most practical advantage the Republicans can gain in exchange for the inevitable adjustment to the debt ceiling.

The Hagel nomination and identity politics

Posted: 08 Jan 2013 09:21 AM PST

(Paul Mirengoff)

Steve Clemons is a leading exponent of the anti-Israel, anti-interventionist, hands-off Iran school that Chuck Hagel represents. He is also gay. So I decided to see how Clemons is blowing off the criticism directed at Hagel over the anti-gay remarks Hagel made some years ago at the expense of James Hormel, a nominee for an ambassadorship.

Hagel, it will be recalled, said that an "openly, aggressively gay" man should not represent the United States. Why? Because "they are representing America; they are representing our lifestyle, our values, our standards. And I think it is an inhibiting factor to be gay - openly, aggressively gay like Mr. Hormel - to do an effective job."

As expected, Clemons discounts Hagel's remarks on the theory that they were uttered years ago and that Hagel's views have changed. But there are two amusing twists to his piece.

The first is the obsequiousness of his comments about the Human Rights Campaign, a gay rights organization that has criticized Hagel. Clemons feels obliged repeatedly to praise the HRC and its president.

But second, Clemons blames the gay rights community for making "little effort to inquire about what [Hagel's] views about LGBT rights are, either of him or of gays who know him (like yours truly)." He also complains that the HRC has not invited Hagel to its dinners.

Clemons' obsequiousness is, I suppose, an attempt to soften this absurd complaint. The burden was hardly on the gay rights community periodically to check in with Hagel (or with Mr. "Yours Truly") to see if his offensive views were "evolving." If Hagel genuinely had evolved, he could have apologized at any time to James Hormel. Instead, he waited 15 years, until he was about to be nominated for high office, to apologize. No wonder Hormel was not impressed.

In a way, it's impressive that, to some extent, gay rights leaders have spoken out against Hagel. And it will be interesting to see how other practitioners of identity politics react. For example, Hagel's positions on abortion would make him a leader in the "war on women" if such a war existed. Thus far, however, feminists seem unconcerned.

Then there's the fact that Obama has now nominated white males for both Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense (plus head of the CIA). Not since the Bill Clinton years have both of these two jobs been held by pale patriarchs. Identity mongers have noticed, but don't seem too bothered.

My view is that identity politics shouldn't trump the two considerations that ought to drive the confirmation process for cabinet appointments. They are: (1) the presidential prerogative and (2) ideology that pertains to the subject matter of the cabinet post.

"Identity politics" should enter the discussion only if a nominee has demonstrated animus against a particular group such as gays or Jews. At that point, it's more about human decency than identity politics.

Steve Clemons' disingenuous Hagelian thesis

Posted: 08 Jan 2013 08:24 AM PST

(Paul Mirengoff)

Bill Kristol calls attention to this exchange between that most ardent of Chuck Hagel admirers, Steve Clemons, and Hagel critic Dan Senor:

CLEMONS: The most important thing about Hagel-and with all due respect to Dan and some of his colleagues-there seems to be this effort by Israel and its supporters over and over to continue to run resolutions to say, "How much do you love me, America? Do you love me today, do you love me tomorrow, do love me again?" And I think that what Hagel has done has said, "I'm supportive of Israel, but at the same time, I'm not going to create a zero-sum game between Israel and its neighbors that also have vital national security relationships with the United States."

SENOR: But. . .when senators vote to designate the Iranian revolutionary guard corps a terrorist organization, what these senators cite is not just the threat Iran poses to Israel, they cite the threat that Iran poses to America. When they cite-when they vote to designate, or call on the E.U., for instance, to designate Hezbollah a terrorist organization, they cite the damage that Hezbollah has done to American military men and women, to American security interests. And for Steve to just-to sweep this away as this is just Israel and Israel supporters wanting a bunch of love letters is really, I'd say actually, offensive.

I like Steve Clemons. But I've been in the room when he has discussed Israel, contempt dripping from his voice. The question on these occasions is never "How much does he love Israel?" The questions are always the same ones people are asking about his friend Chuck Hagel: "How deep does his animosity towards Israel run and what are its sources?"

My 2012 book of the year is Charles Kesler's I Am the Change: Barack Obama and the Crisis of Liberalism (along with Jean Yarbrough's Theodore Roosevelt and the American Political Tradition). Kesler is professor of government at Claremont-McKenna College and editor of the Claremont Review of Books, the flagship publication of the Claremont Institute.

I wish the 2012 election had rendered Charles's book obsolete and moved it toward the remainder bin. Instead it is the book of the hour to help us understand the pressing political phenomena with which we must continue to reckon.

Professor Kesler is now also holding down the fort at The American Mind (sign in here), the institute's new video interview project. Who better to interrogate Professor Kesler about his book than our own Steve Hayward?

Steve draws out Professor Kesler on the book in part 1 of the interview above, followed by part 2 and the remaining segments in the sidebar at the link. We look forward to presenting future installments of Professor Kesler's American Mind interviews on Power Line as soon as we can work out the arrangements with our friends at the institute.

The Republicans caved and Barack Obama is celebrating in Hawaii while planning his next step in creating an irreversible welfare state. Taxes will rise, spending will soar, and the media will cheer on Mr. Obama as he presses for more concessions as the debt ceiling deadline approaches.

Instead of giving into despair or anger, conservatives need to plan for the long haul. Tea Party people, Christian conservatives, national security conservatives and fiscal conservatives (there's a lot of overlap here) are already working to establish an actually conservative Republican Congress in 2014.

Why the 2nd Amendment

This column by ACRU Policy Board Member and Professor of Economics Dr. Walter E. Williams was published January 2, 2013 on Townhall.com.

Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., shootings, said: "The British are not coming. ... We don't need all these guns to kill people." Lewis' vision, shared by many, represents a gross ignorance of why the framers of the Constitution gave us the Second Amendment. How about a few quotes from the period and you decide whether our Founding Fathers harbored a fear of foreign tyrants.

Alexander Hamilton: "The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed," adding later, "If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no recourse left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government." By the way, Hamilton is referring to what institution when he says "the representatives of the people"?

Tax Cuts and Duplicity

This column by ACRU General Counsel and Senior Fellow for the Carleson Center for Public Policy (CCPP) Peter Ferrara was published January 2, 2013 on The American Spectator website.

Neither President Obama nor any other Democrat ever proposed any middle class tax cut in the fiscal cliff negotiations. All that was ever discussed is continuation of the same middle class income tax rates that have been in effect for 12 years now.

Those income tax rates reflect a middle class tax cut that was adopted by a Republican Congress and a Republican President 12 years ago, which virtually all Congressional Democrats voted against at the time. That is why they are called the Bush tax cuts. President Obama told us when he was running for office that the Republicans only cut taxes for the rich. But now all we have heard is about how we can't let the Bush tax cuts for the middle class expire.

Iran Endorses Hagel

Of all the threats to our national security interests, Iran is at the top of the list. With each passing day, the likelihood increases that the U.S. and Israel must either confront Iran's nuclear weapons program or be confronted by a nuclear-armed Iran.

Iran is also the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism. It is propping up the brutal Assad regime in Syria. Even the Obama Administration has accused Iran of killing U.S. troops in Iraq.

That is why senators on both sides of the aisle are perplexed and outraged by Barack Obama's nomination of former Senator Chuck Hagel to be Secretary of Defense. Hagel's record on Iran and the Middle East generally is abysmal.

He regularly opposed sanctions on Iran. In 2008, Hagel single-handedly blocked a sanctions bill that had 72 co-sponsors, including then-Senator Barack Obama.

As Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) said on Fox News Sunday: "He has consistently advocated weakness with respect to our enemies, with respect to the nation of Iran... Weakness in a Secretary of Defense invites conflict because bullies don't respect weakness."

As opposition to Hagel's nomination grows in Washington, it's no surprise that there is applause for him in Tehran. When asked about Hagel's nomination, Ramin Mehman-Parast, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said, "We hope that practical changes will be created in the U.S. foreign policy and the US officials' approach will change to respect the nations' rights."

Barack Obama has repeatedly reached out to the mullahs, while publicly criticizing Israel. Now he is nominating Chuck Hagel -- whose position on Iran was described by CNN as being "to the left of President Obama" -- to lead the Pentagon. Iran has every reason to be hopeful that U.S. policy is about to change to its benefit.

Are Democrats Shaking Down Defense Contractors?

Hagel's nomination is in trouble, and uber-lobbyist Tony Podesta has been called in to rescue it. If that name sounds familiar it should. Tony Podesta is John Podesta's brother. John Podesta was Bill Clinton's White House Chief of Staff, ran Barack Obama's transition team and now leads the left-wing, Soros-funded Center for American Progress.

Breitbart.com reports that Tony Podesta's lobbying firm is making calls to defense contractors to raise money for ads backing Hagel's nomination.

Let's imagine how that conversation might go. "You know, budget cuts are on the table and if you don't chip in to defend the president's nominee, your company may not get that contract renewed." Just one more example of this Chicago gang's hardball politics.

But wait, there's more. The Daily Caller reports that Bill Benter, a big donor to Media Matters and the left-wing, anti-Israel group J Street, is also part of the pro-Hagel ad campaign.

Planned Parenthood's Record Year

2011 was a good year for the abortionists at Planned Parenthood, and a bad year for American taxpayers and innocent babies in the womb. According to various reports, Planned Parenthood performed a record number of abortions -- nearly 334,000 in 2011.

It also reported assets in excess of $1.2 billion, received a record $542 million in taxpayer funding -- 45% of its annual revenue -- and had more than $87 million in "excess revenue." That would be profits for a supposedly non-profit organization concerned about "women's health."

There is absolutely no moral justification for American taxpayers to be subsidizing the nation's largest abortion provider. But there is no economic justification either. Barack Obama has run trillion-dollar deficits every year of his administration. Yet, he was willing to shut down the government last year in order to keep your hard-earned tax dollars flowing to Planned Parenthood. This is madness.

I'm pleased to report that Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is sponsoring legislation, H.R. 61, that will stop taxpayer funding of abortion businesses.

The Language Of Life

In two weeks, America will mark the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision creating a constitutional right to abortion and legalizing most abortions. Much will be written about the consequences of that decision. While both sides of the debate will insist they are winning, abortion rights advocates will have a difficult time claiming any kind of victory. Heritage Budget Sense

Time for a Diet, Washington

While many Americans resolve to make 2013 the year they really do slim down, exercise more, and spend less, the U.S. Congress could afford to commit to a few resolutions of its own. Call them budget resolutions - something Congress hasn't had in a while.
Here are five New Year's resolutions...

 A New, Extra-Extraordinary Debt-Ceiling Tool
Timothy Geithner's Treasury Department May Need a New, Unconventional, Last-Ditch Budget Tool, such as the Full Faith and Credit Act, to Keep It Solvent.
Interest On the National Debt Will Nearly Double
Over the Next Decade

As the publicly held debt grows, net interest payments will increase dramatically, even assuming that interest rates remain low. Under current projections, real net interest costs would more than double over the next decade.

13 Tax Increases in 2013

New Year's Day was tough for taxpayers. Thirteen tax increases kicked in.

The deal that Congress and President Obama struck that finally-but only partially-avoided the fiscal cliff resulted in seven tax increases.

Those hikes combined with six tax increases from Obamacare that also began on New Year's Day.

13 Tax Increases That Started January 1, 2013

Tax increases in the fiscal cliff deal:

1. Payroll tax: increase in the Social Security portion of the payroll tax from 4.2 percent to 6.2 percent for workers. This hits all Americans earning a paycheck-not just the "wealthy." For example, The Wall Street Journal calculated that the "typical U.S. family earning $50,000 a year" will lose "an annual income boost of $1,000."

2. Top marginal tax rate: increase from 35 percent to 39.6 percent for taxable incomes over $450,000 ($400,000 for single filers).

3. Phase out of personal exemptions for adjusted gross income (AGI) over $300,000 ($250,000 for single filers).

4. Phase down of itemized deductions for AGI over $300,000 ($250,000 for single filers).

5.
Tax rates on investment: increase in the rate on dividends and capital gains from 15 percent to 20 percent for taxable incomes over $450,000 ($400,000 for single filers).

6. Death tax: increase in the rate (on estates larger than $5 million) from 35 percent to 40 percent.

7. Taxes on business investment: expiration of full expensing-the immediate deduction of capital purchases by businesses.

Obamacare tax increases that took effect:

8. Another investment tax increase: 3.8 percent surtax on investment income for taxpayers with taxable income exceeding $250,000 ($200,000 for singles).

9. Another payroll tax hike: 0.9 percent increase in the Hospital Insurance portion of the payroll tax for incomes over $250,000 ($200,000 for single filers).

10. Medical device tax: 2.3 percent excise tax paid by medical device manufacturers and importers on all their sales.

11. Reducing the income tax deduction for individuals' medical expenses.

12. Elimination of the corporate income tax deduction for expenses related to the Medicare Part D subsidy.

13. Limitation of the corporate income tax deduction for compensation that health insurance companies pay to their executives.

Each of these 13 tax increases will slow the economy, meaning that businesses will create fewer jobs. Fewer jobs will make it even more difficult to land a job than it already is for the more than 12 million Americans looking for work.

President Obama demanded these higher taxes. Obama's tax increases, in Obamacare and through the fiscal cliff deal, will not curb deficits and debt, because growing spending is driving America's budget crisis. Congress needs to immediately turn its attention to the actual cause of our deficit and debt problem: too much spending. The proper way to address this problem is through reforms to entitlement programs.

President Obama promised the American people a "balanced approach" of tax increases and spending cuts to reduce deficits and debt. He has achieved the tax increase portion of that approach. Now Congress needs to force him to follow through on the spending cuts portion.

Illinois Poised to Give Driver's Licenses to Illegal Aliens

Call Governor Quinn and Urge Him to Veto SB 957

This week the Illinois Legislature adopted Senate Bill (SB) 957 which would make illegal aliens eligible for Illinois driver's licenses. To obtain a so-called "temporary" driver's license under the bill, an alien need only have lived in Illinois for a year and may establish his or her identity using a consular ID or foreign passport.

SB 957 is now on its way to Governor Quinn's desk for his signature. Please call Governor Quinn NOW and urge him to veto SB 957!!!

Why should this matter to you if you don't live in Illinois?

It matters because many states recognize other states' driver's licenses for purposes of granting driver's licenses to applicants. If SB 957 were to be enacted, an illegal alien could obtain a driver's license in Illinois, then potentially take the driver's license to your state and obtain a driver's license based on reciprocity.

Granting driver's licenses to illegal aliens poses national security risks!

Illegal aliens by definition do not have valid U.S. identification or work authorization documents. Therefore, they depend on foreign or forged documents when necessary. SB 957 expressly authorizes Illinois DMV officials to accept consular IDs and foreign passports as proof of identification. States, however, do not have the capacity to verify the validity of such documents. Remember, the 19 September 11 hijackers carried among them over 60 state driver's licenses.

Governor Quinn should also veto SB 957 because:

  • Granting driver's licenses to illegal aliens encourages more illegal immigration;
  • Granting driver's licenses to illegal aliens treats them as if they are legal residents and allows them to engage in more illegal conduct;
  • Granting driver's licenses to illegal aliens is fiscally unwise; and
  • Granting driver's licenses to illegal aliens does not mean safer roads or more insured drivers.

CALL GOVERNOR PAT QUINN AND DEMAND THIS LEGISLATION BE VETOED!

We need you to call immediately! Only with your help can we stop this bill.

AFA

It seems Obama would rather bankrupt the nation

January 8, 2013

Dear ##FirstName[AFA Supporter]##,

I am not so sure that President Obama is not intentionally trying to bankrupt the United States of America. I know I am not supposed to say that out loud, but I am just looking at how the man behaves.

When a problem like our country's debt is spiraling out of control - and economists and serious thinkers on both sides of the political spectrum warn against the coming calamity due to the debt -- and Obama shows absolutely no interest in trying to cut or even slow down the borrowing and spending, it does make me wonder what his motives are.

Emperor Obama's New Clothes Set New Cool Trend

Funny parody Emperor Obama's New ClothesMore than lavish vacations and golfing, Emperor Obama valued appearances, which consumed a bigger share of his government's budget than the army, the people, or the economy.

One day Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid informed Obama that they could dress him up in a way that would make him even more appealing to his fan base than he had ever been. At the same time, these new magic clothes would be invisible to the low-brow conservative knuckle-draggers, who didn't support his policies.

This is the craziest person in the history of broadcasting

Want to know who the media wants to make the face of the pro-gun argument in America? Look no further than conspiratorial radio host Alex Jones, best known for his 9/11 Truther theories and his love of Charlie Sheen's hernia. Jones is the man behind the petition to deport CNN host Piers Morgan for his views on gun control. Morgan invited Jones onto his show to debate the gun issue yesterday, and not surprisingly, Jones made a fool of himself, giving the left the perfect poster boy for their attempts to paint every logical conservative as an extremist nut job. This is the reason you can still afford to put gas in your car:  Glenn talked a little bit about a new movie coming out that slams the process of fracking. Glenn argued on radio today that it is fracking that is most likely responsible for gas prices being even remotely affordable while Stu argued fracking may be what's holding the entire economy together. What is it and why are moviemakers going after it?

Chicago union leader "jokes" about killing the rich

We have heard some pretty inflammatory anti-wealth rants from the left, but a recent speech given by the Chicago Teachers Union president, Karen Lewis, takes it to a new extreme. Lewis recounted the good ol' days when union leaders "were ready to kill" the rich, eliciting cheers from the audience. And the crazy talk didn't stop there. See the rest HERE
