Hillary Clinton Displays Ignorance and Insults Israel

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke at the Saban Center for Middle East Policy this past Friday.  She started out by praising Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.  Then she said something that showed complete lack of understanding of the nation and people of Israel.  Clinton said:

"I'm not making excuses for the missed opportunities of the Israelis, or the lack of generosity, the lack of empathy that I think goes hand-in-hand with the suspicion."

"So, yes, there is more that the Israelis need to do to really demonstrate that they do understand the pain of an oppressed people in their minds, and they want to figure out, within the bounds of security and a Jewish democratic state, what can be accomplished."

States Should Absolutely Refuse to Set Up Obamacare Exchanges

By Mario Loyola

November 13, 2012

Proponents of Obamacare are making one argument that some conservatives may find appealing - namely that it is much better, from a states' rights point of view, to set up state-based exchanges than to let the feds come in and do it themselves. This argument is absolutely wrong. Allowing your states to be deputized as instruments of federal policy is just as bad as bowing to federal commandeering of state agencies, which is unconstitutional.

Let's begin with the principle that the federal government is not allowed to command states or their officials to do anything. That was settled in the two modern commandeering cases, New York v. United States (1992) and Printz v. United States (1997). The federal government has gotten around that through a variety of schemes under the general category of "cooperative federalism." The Supreme Court has generally taken a permissive attitude of these schemes, only because the states supposedly retain freedom of choice, "both in theory and in fact." But it is increasingly clear that their choice is not really free, because they are penalized if they don't comply with the federal program.

This problem is clear with programs like Medicaid: The feds tax money away from the states (or they borrow it from the capital markets) and then offer to give it back to the states on condition that they comply with federal preferences. In the Obamacare decision, the Supreme Court ruled that the feds can't present states with the "loaded gun" of losing existing Medicaid funds if they don't comply with the Medicaid expansion requirements. But states still lose the money Obamacare "offers" for the Medicaid expansion itself, hence there is still a draconian penalty.

With the exchanges, there is also federal conditional "aid" in play, but the real penalty the states face if they don't bow to the will of Obamacare is that the feds will come in and take over the health-care market. But it's much easier for the feds to do that in a handful of states than for them to do it in most of the states. Feds might not be able to do it in a large number of states without asking Congress for more money or for amendments to the law. That would strengthen the position of the House of Representatives, and its GOP majority.

State governors should be under no illusions: You are not preserving one iota of state autonomy by setting up your own Obamacare exchange. On the contrary, you are letting the feds deputize you as instruments of federal policy. Let the feds set up the exchanges themselves; they can pay for them and be accountable for the results. That will impose a real limit on federal power, and provide leverage for rolling back some of Obamacare. In the meantime the message of state governments to the Department of Health and Human Services should be an absolute and unequivocal "NO."

Patriots,

Goal: 25 calls a day into all six offices (the Governor and five House leadership)

Next Action for You:

1.) Go to
www.afp-pa.com

and sign up to "Adopt a Day".

Adopt A Day Commitment: You personally recruit 5 other people to make the calls with you and ask each of them to find 1 other person to also make a call that day. If you do that you personally will have been responsible for 11 calls into the Governor and House leadership's offices. That's amazing!

Next Action for AFP to support You on your "Adopt a Day":

1.) Once you sign up, Matt or Randy will be reaching out to you via email to confirm your date.

2.) Work with leaders on given day to maximize impact and total number of calls.

3.) Matt, Randy or Ed

Things to Keep in Mind:
1.) This is a "HELPING HAND CALL" and not a "PUNCH IN THE FACE CALL". As mentioned on the conference call, we are one step away from getting what we want...which is Corbett to FULLY close the door on the state exchange...and YOUR HARD WORK helped get him to where we need him to be. So use this opportunity to once again educate and ask Corbett to be a champion for us.

2.) The wheels of change, especially in government, turn very, very, very slowly. Don't be frustrated. Well...you can be frustrated...but don't give up and hold steady on the course. You are doing the right thing and it is making a difference.

3.) A recent news item has come out saying that the federal government and the insurance companies are saying that premiums for states that do not adopt the exchange will be increased.   Here is a great way to answer this when speaking with the Governor or legislators:

"We understand the insurance companies are threatening to raise premiums on states that do not adopt exchanges...but let's not kid ourselves...premiums and everything else associated with healthcare are going to increase dramatically, now that Obamacare is law for the foreseeable future.  That is a given...so this is nothing new.  Furthermore, nothing will cost us more than having our state "own" this exchange when the federal funding runs out in 2015.  It will cost the average family over $3000 a year.  Do you want to know what $3,000 means for my family?  It means I could pay for xxxxx (insert what you could or actually do do with $3,000 a year.  For instance: it is a years worth of Catholic school education, it is a year's water bill, it is a year's IRA contribution etc)."

4.) When you make your calls, please make sure you mention you are working with Americans for Prosperity in Pennsylvania.  It is so important to continue to build your group by showing that you are part of a larger coalition.  AFP is working across the country to defeat the exchanges.  In PA, we are working not just as activists, but within the Capitol and with our key donors.  You want the legislators and the Governor to know that YOU and YOUR group are part of a very big, broad and powerful COALITION.

Below are a couple of links and other useful information to give to politicians and other activists re: the state exchanges.

Historic town's clash leaves 'Tread' marks
Culpeper says tea party 'hijacked' historic logo
The Washington Times | By Stephen Dinan | Monday, December 3, 2012

CULPEPER, Va. CULPEPER, Va. - In Virginia, there are few historical battles that aren't worth refighting.

That's a lesson officials in Culpeper, a town nestled in the state's Piedmont region, relearned this fall when they decided to create a new public relations branding campaign and tourism officials suggested that they go with a less "political" emblem. The problem: The town's existing logo - the iconic Revolutionary War-era rattlesnake and "Don't Tread on Me" combination - had been "hijacked" by the conservative tea party movement, staffers said.

But that, it turns out, was just as politically dangerous as sticking with the old image.

'Wilkow!:' Filibuster Hypocrites
The Blaze | by Christopher Santarelli | Posted on December 3, 2012 at 8:23pm

Harry (the hack) Reid The same progressives who used filibusters against President Bush are now offering a different tune with their man in the White House. TheBlaze reported over the weekend that while Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is currently attempting to limit filibusters as a means to clear Republican opposition to President Obama's policies, up until recently, his website was packed with multiple statements from during the Bush administration when the Nevada Senator was an ardent opponent to the so-called Nuclear Option and lauded the filibuster as "our historic system of checks and balances."

On TheBlaze TV Monday, Andrew Wilkow noted that President Obama's Democratic Senate colleague Robert Byrd started the whole concept of modern filibuster with the 1964 Civil Rights legislation, which he filibustered for 14 hours, eventually reading from the phonebook during Congress to prove his point. Watch a clip below of Wilkow running through the Democratic Party's recent history with the filabuster:

IMPORTANT MEETING! UN Agenda 21

Please plan to be there. Put the date on your calendar now.

  •          A "show and tell" with John Taylor who works with Tom Dewees, at the American Policy Center, a 15 year leader of exposing this UN scheme to take away your property rights and other American liberties, otherwise known as sustainable development.

Agenda 21 is the plan that is intended to take away the rights and liberties of all Americans. Currently, there is a big push to institute a global tax and make the UN the global IRS. If you think this is not possible, I challenge you to find out the real truth.

The UN Agenda 21 plan is also to take away your gun rights, control the sea, space and air (global commons), have financial regulatory authority, a global economic council, and a world monetary board. But one of the worst things for us, is the plan to take away our right of property ownership and turn much of our country into uninhabited wastelands. No roads, no transportation, no population.

If you think this is extreme and can't happen, you are wrong. This plan is so far down the road that we will have a very hard time stopping it. There are many counties and townships in our area that have already signed up and are involved, including the borough of West Chester. These communities and counties don't realize what they are signing up to support. The words they use are positive sounding, but the results are very ugly. Some municipalities in Maryland have fought and have won their way out of the program.

Everyone needs to learn about this plot. Please personally invite your supervisors, the RCCC, commissioners, and other legislators. Do this now! Plan to greet them, sit with them and follow up with them. They are so involved with other issues that Agenda 21 seems far off and impossible. Aware citizens must help them learn the reality!

We the People must defeat any treaty that promises to hand the UN global taxing powers or any other powers over our nation and our liberties!

Please join the VFP and participate - join like-minded patriots and learn how we can help stop this assault on America!

Free parking, food and drink available for purchase.

Act for America

Yes, it's true: You can support ACT! for America-at no cost to you!     An important message from
Guy Rodgers, Executive Director

The next time you make an online purchase of almost anything, you could be helping ACT! for America-at no cost to you.

Sound too good to be true? It isn't.

All you have to do is sign up for "iGive"-a program that's been around since 1997.

The concept is as powerful as it is simple.

Every time an iGive member makes an online purchase at over 1,000 brand-name stores, a percentage of that purchase is donated to that person's charity of choice.

And with the holidays just around the corner, you could be helping ACT! for America with every gift you buy!

The concept isn't new. In the mid-1990s many supporters of non-profit organizations signed up with long distance telephone programs where a percentage of their bill was donated to their charity of choice.

But our investigation of iGive has convinced us that this program has an ease of use and sophistication that we find remarkable.

  • Imagine booking a hotel room on Orbitz-and having 1.6% of that purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
  • Or buying an Xbox at Best Buy-and having 1.2% of the purchase price donated to ACT! for America.

The same goes for buying merchandise at Amazon, Bath and Body Works, Advance Auto Parts, Game Stop, Kmart, Home Depot, Holiday Inn, Old Navy, NASCAR Superstore, Overstock.com, Mattel, J.C. Penney, Office Max, QVC, Radio Shack, Shoe Carnival, Pottery Barn-and on and on the list goes.

In other words, every time you make a purchase of merchandise you would buy anyway, you would be financially supporting ACT! for America!

All you have to do is log on below and follow the directions to create your account and download the iGive "button." (Note: downloading the "button" is key).

Get Started Here!

When I was first informed of iGive, I was skeptical. I've seen these ideas come and go. Often, they're too good to be true. Or there are all kinds of glitches and problems.

So I spent hours researching.

I looked at online customer reviews (which were very good). I read all of iGive's fine print, such as Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. I signed up and even emailed two tech support questions to see how good their tech support was.

And the more I dug, the more I liked what I saw. For instance, both of my tech support questions were responded to within 60 minutes. How often does THAT happen?

As you know from our Patriot Partner program, we're all about encouraging a lot of people to each do a little-to do something. When everyone does a little, together we accomplish a lot.

So consider what could happen.

If just 1% of ACT! for America members each purchased just $400 in merchandise in 2013, from all the available outlets, and the average percentage donated to ACT! was 1.5%, the total amount donated back to ACT! for America would be...

...$15,000. That's a lot of money, wouldn't you agree?

And if you were one of those ACT! for America members, it wouldn't cost you one thin dime to help ACT! for America receive $15,000.

If this idea really caught on, and eventually 5% of our members made purchases with iGive, that $15,000 could explode to $50,000, $75,000 or more!

What's more, that 1.5% figure might be low. Many of the merchants offer percentage donations that are much higher. One printer inkjet company I looked at offered 13%!

Every merchant website you visit tells you right at the top what percentage of your purchase price will be donated to ACT! for America.

Just think what we could accomplish with an extra $15,000, $50,000 or $75,000 in our fight against radical Islam!

Get Started Here!

One of the things I most wanted to know was their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Check it out for yourself. I confirmed the terms with a company representative. And I like what I learned. As security-conscious as I am, I have no hesitation using the service-and I'm already doing so.

I know there are many people out there who would love to support ACT! for America, or give more than they're giving, but in these tough economic times they simply can't.

Well, here's a way that everyone who believes in our mission can easily support what we're doing-at no cost to them.

It doesn't get any better than that.

There are already chapter leaders who have signed up for the program, and the feedback I have been getting from them has been all positive. They love the idea and many of them are already using it.

So please, join me and these ACT! for America chapter leaders who are already signed up and using the iGive service.

Yours for a safe and free America

Guy Rodgers

The Annual Jay Michael Swartz Memorial Lecture: An Evening with Michael Medved

AMERICAN JEWS AND CHRISTIAN EVANGELICALS: IRRECONCILABLE ENEMIES OR INEVITABLE ALLIES?

Michael Medved is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host and bestselling author. His daily show is heard by over 3.75 million people across the country. Born in Philadelphia, Michael won admission to Yale at age 16 as a National Merit Scholar. He majored in American History and graduated with honors, before attending Yale Law School, where his classmates included Bill and Hillary Clinton. Michael wrote his first bestseller at age 26 - "What Really Happened to the Class of '65?" - a skeptical reconsideration of the "counterculture" of the 1960's that became a weekly TV series on NBC.

Many American Jews distrust and even fear the rise of the evangelical Christianity. They see this religious movement as a threat to the survival of Judaism in the United States and to the continuance of a society that values pluralism and religious liberty. On the other hand increasing numbers of American Jews view evangelicals as natural allies, not just when it comes to support of Israel, but on a range of social issues here in the U.S. In this provocative presentation, Michael Medved will explain where Jews and Christians already agree, and where they can never agree, in their participation in the ongoing battles shaping American society.

The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq

Jul 18th, 2012

Daniel Greenfield's new Freedom Center pamphlet, The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq, is an effort to understand the politics of the "war on terror" which has now reached a final punctuation point with the U.S. decision to speed its withdrawal from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan (where success was once deemed so crucial to national security), and to practice an incoherent form of regime change in Libya while ignoring more serious threats in Syria and Iran.

The war on terror began, Greenfield shows, as an admirable bipartisan commitment soon after the tragedy of 9/11-an effort to transcend party lines not only to punish those who attacked our country but also to interrupt planning for further attacks and try to stop the international spread of the Islamic jihad behind the attacks. But the Democratic Party, with the honorable exception of a few individuals like Richard Gephardt and Joe Lieberman, turned its back on a war soon after authorizing it, and did so at a time when American troops were facing hostile enemy fire.

Although Senate Democrats on the intelligence oversight committee had been granted access to every piece of data available to the White House, they now accused President Bush of tricking them to secure their approval. In fact, their own about-face was entirely dictated by political considerations when a Sixties antiwar activist, Howard Dean, surged ahead in the Democratic primary polls and it appeared for a moment that Americans were on the side of retreat and capitulation.

Although regime change in Iraq had been official U.S. policy since Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, Democratic senators such as John Kerry who only months earlier had supported the war effort now launched demoralizing attacks on the American commander-in-chief and his troops in the field, stigmatizing it as "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." If the truth was the first casualty of their war against the Bush administration, the second casualty was the principle of bi-partisanship that had guided foreign policy debates throughout the Cold War, the principle that "politics stops at the water's edge." Now partisan politics trumped security.

The unrestrained attacks on the Iraq War as illegal and unjustified went largely unanswered by Republicans who failed to call the Democratic saboteurs of the nation's war effort to account or to decry the risk their cynical attacks posed to American servicemen and women on the battlefield. As Greenfield demonstrates, the Democrats' partisanship had consequences not only in Iraq but elsewhere in the region: the paralysis that resulted from their "anti-war" campaign led straight to the destruction of Lebanon and the installation of a terrorist army, Hezbollah, there as a regime within a regime. And it emboldened an overtly Islamofascist regime in Iran not only to supply the IEDs responsible for most of our troop fatalities in Iraq but also to proceed with a nuclear program aimed directly at Israel and the West.

The Great Betrayal shows that Barack Obama's abandonment of Iraq is a betrayal of all the Americans and Iraqis who gave their lives to establish freedom in that country. And the result of his policies in Afghanistan has been as disastrous. While the President presented his rationale for pursuing war there as the pursuit of al-Qaeda, after abandoning his "surge" (which resulted in two thirds of all America's Afghan casualties there and the resurgence of the Taliban allies of al-Qaeda), he blithely prepared for withdrawal as if national objectives had been met.

Infiltrated

Individuals sympathetic to the Muslim Brotherhood's sinister agenda have infiltrated the Obama Administration.

Brainwashed by the Muslim Students Association and then propelled in to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the David Horowitz Freedom Center tracks the path of Huma Abedin and other Muslim sympathizers who have navigated their way into positions of great influence in the Obama Administration. Everything is revealed in the explosive new Freedom Center pamphlet, "The Muslim Brotherhood in the Obama Administration," written by Frank Gaffney, national security expert who served as Assistant Secretary of Defense under Ronald Reagan.

The David Horowitz Freedom Center is committed to educating the public on the Muslim Brotherhood's sinister Agenda. That is why we are giving away this pamphlet for FREE.

RedState Morning Briefing

RedState Morning Briefing

For December 4, 2012

1. I am Thankful for John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Kevin McCarthy

Not quite two weeks removed from Thanksgiving, it is worth giving thanks to John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Kevin McCarthy. I really am thankful for them.

Yesterday the three of them purged fiscal conservatives from committees as punishment for being authentically fiscal conservatives. Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina was put on the Financial Services Committee to show fiscal conservatism had nothing to do with removing Congressmen Justin Amash and David Schweikert, but that just causes me to question Mick Mulvaney's conservative bona fides now.

Congressmen Schweikert, Amash, and Congressman Tim Huelskamp now removed from the Budget Committee, have been punished for daring to defy John Boehner during the debt ceiling fight, etc. They pointed out what would happen with John Boehner's deal. They were the Cassandras of the fiscal cliff, predicting we'd be exactly where we are and they voted against getting us here.

2. The Boehner Fiscal Offer

Here are two things to keep in mind with regards to Boehner's budget offer.  First, when you begin negotiations agreeing to 60% of the demands of the other side and fail to offer a bold contrast on the other 40%, you are headed for an outcome that is 80-90% favorable to your opponent.  Second, when you need to outsource your budget plan and entire view of government to Democrat Erskine Bowles, you are relegating yourself and your party to irrelevancy.

John Boehner and other House GOP leaders have offered Obama a plan to raise $800 billion in revenue through "tax reform."  I'm not sure how you raise revenue in a static framework without raising taxes, but let's put that aside for a moment.  The $1.4 trillion in savings from the spending side is the real problem.  Once again, they fail to offer a bold contrast concerning their view of the role of government.  . . . please click here for the rest of the post

3.  A Bunch of Squishes Chosen for the Super A House Committees

It's not enough to merely elect conservatives to the House as rank-and-file members.  As we've seen the past few weeks, it's all about getting the right people into leadership and important committee assignments.  Unfortunately, the roster of major committee chairmen is quite dismal, to say the least.  Worse yet, it appears that the top 3 'Super A' domestic policy committees will once again be filled with squishes.

In 2011, the 3 most important committees - Ways and Means, Appropriations, and Energy & Commerce - had the lowest ratings from conservative organizations. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

4.  Changing The Conversation

Recently, speaking to a television station in Macon, Georgia, Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) said, "I care more about my country than I do about a 20-year-old pledge."  The Americans for Tax Reform pledge, by Grover Norquist, was signed by almost every Republican in Congress including Chambliss.  His reversal on supporting the pledge not to raise taxes shone the spotlight on Chambliss as the latest Republican to bend to the Democrats since Obama's reelection.  Later on Fox News' Hannity, Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) tried to explain his position in a spin so obvious it would make Jay Carney blush.  The Saxby Spin can be seen here.  Chambliss stated that he believes revenue can be created to combat the country's debt by eliminating all tax credits and reductions.  Using the time-honored Democrat tactic of word play, Chambliss insisted that raising taxes and cutting tax breaks aren't the same, even though (as Hannity pointed out) they achieve the same result of Americans paying more to the federal government in taxes.  In his original comments to the Macon television station, Chambliss also said, "We weren't $17 trillion in debt 20 years ago when I signed that pledge. We've got to figure out the right way to get out of debt."  In other words, when it's crunch time Chambliss won't stand behind his supposed values.  . . . please click here for the rest of the post

5. Kellogg Foundation, Applied Research Center Lead "Voter Suppression" Charge

The progressive W.K. Kellogg Foundation has played a key role in attacks on True The Vote and voter identification laws by funding "national racial justice organization" the Applied Research Center (ARC). In April 2012, ARC's Colorlines.com partnered with The Nation to create an election-year feature providing "in-depth coverage of voter suppression efforts nationwide."

Grant data show that between 2005 and 2010, ARC received $1.12 million from the ACORN-connected Tides Foundation and $715,000 from George Soros's Open Society Institute. The Ford Foundation gave ARC $1.15 million from 2008 to 2010, and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) paid ARC more than $200,000 for "consulting" in 2011. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

How the Government Class Lives

Take a ride to a welfare neighborhood some fine morning, evenings are best avoided even in the safest such places. Don't go in expecting Detroit. Even much of Detroit doesn't look like Detroit. Newark and Oakland aren't even there yet. Detroit is what happens when the load is too big and there's no one left to carry it. Most welfare neighborhoods are still located in cities where there is someone left to pick up the tab.

You'll see less charred buildings and more towering multistory housing projects. Some of these are the ugly bestial fortresses that date back to FDR's championing of affordable housing. One such monster, the Knickerbocker Village, former home of the Rosenberg spies, had to be evacuated in the recent hurricane and residents lived without heat and power for weeks.

30 years later they began to run to 20 story gray and brown towers reek of hopelessness. When power company workers came to restore power to the Brooklyn shoreline, they were sent to these places first in the hopes of calming mob reaction. Instead televisions came raining down from the upper floors forcing the workers to flee for safety. But don't expect that to happen during your visit. That sort of thing is reserved for major holidays and power outages.

More recently the trend has been smaller homes that look almost like normal housing, except that there are too many of them lined up all in rows that go on forever, and even the red brickwork and white doors quickly darken with neglect, fumes and that intangible pollutant that comes to all places where the people have nowhere to go and nothing to look forward to.

There are businesses in the welfare neighborhood, but they aren't really independent businesses. The bodegas, cheap corner groceries stores lined with ads for cigarettes, or government ads against them, with malt liquor ads and posters for a local performance by a rap group, Hong Kong crooner or Latin singer, get most of their business from food stamps. The bodegas, despite their name, are usually run by Indians, Koreans, Arabs or Bangladeshis. The few things they sell for real money are, in order, lottery tickets, beer and the occasional magazine.

70 years ago the small corner store was part of an economic ladder. Today it's as static as the rest of the neighborhood. Sometimes the owners make the jump to a welfare supermarket, that deals almost entirely in food stamps. Mostly though they are family businesses whose owners import some of their endless stock of cousins from the home country as unpaid labor. Sometimes the cousins marry into the family and open another one of the stores with money advanced by the patriarch of the clan, and with most of the profits going to him.

Benghazi: Behind the scenes (Part II)

Obama does not want the American people to know the truth about what is going on, Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, AQIM

Doug Hagmann Friday, November 30, 2012

Author's note: This is part two of a multi-part interview with a government insider intimately familiar with the events that took place in Benghazi. It is important to note that the information contained in this series was developed from interviews that spanned over 100 hours. In this part, the insider provides information about the events of the attack and the continuation of the cover-up at the highest levels of our government. (For Part I, please click here).

We've heard different accounts and different timelines concerning the attack at Benghazi. What exactly happened?

First, people must understand that the compound that was attacked was situated in a somewhat rural area and was not a consulate, but a rented villa, or a residential structure. The residence was the primary building, and what has been referred to as the annex was located about 1800 feet away as the crow flies, but just over a mile to travel by road. And again, visible security was not present as the compound was the headquarters for a covert operation. No one wanted to draw attention to what was taking place at this location.

The first indications of problems there began at least twelve-(12) hours before the first shot was even fired. One of the men at the compound observed a policeman or Libyan security officer taking photographs outside of the villa. Keep in mind that Ambassador Stevens, the point man in this Obama-sanctioned weapons running operation, was hastily scheduled to meet with the Turkish consul general at this location. The meeting was deliberately planned for dinner time, toward evening, when the events that happened next could be performed under the cover of darkness.

It's also important to consider the location of this meeting. Tripoli is the seat of power in Libya, and a genuine diplomatic meeting could more safely have been conducted there, at the embassy. Also, what most people don't know is that Libya is split, much like East and West Germany before the wall. The eastern part is more closely aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood, the same group that controls Egypt. The Turkish consul general had to meet there, not just with Stevens but with other factions involved in this covert operation.

Now I'll digress for a moment. It is reasonable to ask whether the Turkish consul general was setting Stevens up for a hit, like a classic mob-style hit. First, there is no dispute that there was surveillance done at 6:30 a.m. and intermittently throughout the day. Next, consider that three hours before the first shot was fired, about 6:30 p.m. local time, some strange things were observed taking place near the compound. Military type vehicles began closing of the streets withtrucks that had 50 caliber guns mounted on them. Checkpoints on the streets and at intersections were being quietly closed off around the compound. Nearby residents began going inside their homes. Anyone walking in the area got off the streets, like a scene from a movie in the Godfather series. It was obvious that the stage was being set for a strike against the compound. This alone reveals preplanning and coordination.

It's also noteworthy to point out that the Turkish counsel general most likely passed through one or more of these checkpoints, or at least would have noticed that things were not right in the area. You must remember that just as Stevens was previously CIA working under diplomatic cover, the Turkish counsel general was his counterpart. It's typical spy-versus-spy stuff.

White House opposed new Iran sanctions

Posted By Josh Rogin Friday, November 30, 2012

The White House announced its opposition to a new round of Iran sanctions that the Senate unanimously approved Friday, in the latest instance of Congress pushing for more aggressive punitive measures on Iran than the administration deems prudent.

On Thursday, Sens. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) andMark Kirk (R-IL) introduced the amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, which the Senate passed 94-0. The new legislative language would blacklist Iran's energy, port, shipping, and shipbuilding sectors, while also placing new restrictions on Iran's ability to get insurance for all these industries. The legislation would also vastly expand U.S. support for human rights inside Iran and impose new sanctions on Iranians who divert humanitarian assistance from its intended purpose.

"The window is closing. The time for the waiting game is over," Menendez said on the Senate floor Thursday night. "Yes, our sanctions are having a demonstrable effect on the Iranian economy, but Iran is still working just as hard to develop nuclear weapons."

But the White House told several Senate offices Thursday evening that the administration was opposed to the amendment. National Security Spokesman Tommy Vietor sentThe Cable the administration's official position, explaining the White House's view the sanctions aren't needed and aren't helpful at this time.

"As we focus with our partners on effectively implementing these efforts, we believe additional authorities now threaten to undercut these efforts," he said. "We also have concerns with some of the formulations as currently drafted in the text and want to work through them with our congressional partners to make the law more effective and consistent with the current sanctions law to ensure we don't undercut our success to date."

An e-mail from the NSC's legislative affairs office to some Senate Democrats late Thursday evening, obtained by The Cable, went into extensive detail about the administration's concerns about the new sanctions legislation, including that it might get in the way of the administration's efforts to implement the last round of Iran sanctions, the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act (TRA), to which it flatly objected at the time.

"We do not believe additional authority to apply more sanctions on Iran is necessary at this time," read the e-mail, which the NSC legislative affairs office said represented the entire administration's view. "At the same time, we are concerned that this amendment is duplicative and threatens to confuse and undermine some of the TRA provisions."

One of the White House's chief concerns is that Congress is not providing the administration enough waivers, which would give the United States the option of negating or postponing applications of the sanctions on a case-by-case basis.

Congressman: Muslim Brotherhood advising Obama

President made 'horrendous decisions' about Middle East revolutions

December 1, 2012

Outspoken Republican congressman Louie Gohmert is continuing to press for investigation of the Muslim Brotherhood's influence on the federal government, contending in an interview that a probe is necessary because of the Obama administration's "horrendous decisions" in backing the so-called "Arab Spring" revolutions in the Middle East.

The East Texas lawmaker was one of five Republican Congress members who stirred bipartisan controversy in June by raising concern about Muslim Brotherhood infiltration in the nation's capital.

In an interview Tuesday on Gohmert charged that the administration was taking advice from the Muslim Brotherhood, the Egypt-based movement formed after the demise of the Ottoman Turkish empire with the intent of helping establish Islamic rule worldwide.

"You look at the decisions [the Obama administration] made, especially in the last two years, in going through the revolutions in Northern Africa and across the Middle East and to the Far East," said Gohmert, "and the only way you can explain the horrendous decisions that were so completely wrongheaded would be if the administration had a bunch of Muslim Brotherhood members giving them advice."

What is true and what is not true about Benghazi?

Dec 03, 2012 05:13 am | Coach Collins

By George Spelvin, staff writer

A hard to read, hard to believe, hard to write about communique' from South Florida Tea Party sources involves the alleged real reasons General David Petreaus "was forced out a few days before the Benghazi hearings." Citing the stand down orders, the stupid video, and the pulled security, this memo makes a convincing case that a failed October Surprise kidnap event of the U.S. diplomat had a political backdrop involving the impending election. Various background data mentioned in this bulletin contain a tit for tat exchange of Mission Chief Chris Stevens for the Blind Sheik, Omar Abdel Rahman who was involved in the 1993 U.S. World Trade Center attack.

Also Alluded to is "trade" is a possible $1.2 billion in U.S. aid earmarked for the Muslim Brotherhood, the group expected to have had a primary role in the Stevens-Sheik switch. Now, America's stellar fighting man's takedown because of titillating sex, lies, and Email ... Continue Reading:What is true and what is not true about Benghazi?

Are American patriots obligated to take up arms against would-be tyrants?

Dec 02, 2012 01:00 pm | Coach Collins

by Doug Book, staff writer

In 1833, thirty four year member of the Supreme Court, Joseph Story, wrote: "The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium of the liberties of a republic." (1)

That "palladium of liberties" has never been exercised more frequently than during the four years Barack Hussein Obama has been in the White House. According to the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), "...the top 10 record gun sales days have occurred since Barack Obama's election in 2008, and gun ownership has skyrocketed over the last four years." (2)

The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) reports that in 1944 there were approximately 192 million firearms owned by 44 million Americans. By the end of 1996, the ATF reports that "...approximately 242 million firearms were available for sale to or were possessed by civilians in the United States." In 2007, that number ... Bob Costas Exploits NFL Murder/Suicide to Take Our Guns

by John Nolte

We saw it after that terrible movie theatre shooting in Colorado back in July, and now we're seeing it with the tragic murder/suicide involving Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher. Damn logic, damn facts, damn waiting for a little something known as an investigation -- we have a tragedy, we have a gun, and now we have yet another opportunity to push an agenda meant to strip Americans of their God-given Second Amendment rights.

Last night during NBC's NFL telecast, Bob Costas did something the NFL has always been very good about avoiding -- inserting politics into what Americans of all political stripes see as one of the few remaining escapes from the divisive partisanship that seems to infect everything these days. Taking advantage of a captive halftime audience, Costas suckered punched millions with a left-wing preach about gun control. The fact that Costas does this while God Bless America can be heard in the background is not an irony that should be lost on anyone

PJ Media

NEW ON PJ MEDIA
The Republicans certainly lived up to their Stupid Party epithet in 2012 by letting the mainstream media moderate their inter-party debates yet again. The first thing the GOP has to do to win in 2016 is put an absolute, dead stop, end to this.

No matter what the politicians do about tax rates and the size of the deficit, it won't have any effect on the roots of our economic trouble. As long as the federal government's mammoth size and appetite for wealth are suffocating the economy, growth will remain slow and unemployment high.

TOP STORIES ON PJ MEDIA
The typically quiet town of Casa Grande, Arizona, was rocked by an explosion at the local Social Security Administration office early Friday morning of what appears to an improvised explosive device (IED). Within 90 minutes of the explosion, police had a suspect in custody. But you wouldn't know it from reading the establishment media reports this past weekend.

By now you've probably heard what happened in Kansas City on Saturday. The Chiefs have handled the tragic events with dignity and grace. NBC and Bob Costas have revealed yet again how evil that network and its on-air personalities have become.

No Word on Same-Sex Marriage Cases at SCOTUS

This column by ACRU Senior Legal Analyst Ken Klukowski was published on December 1, 2012 on Breitbart.com.

We have to wait until Monday to learn the status of gay marriage at the U.S. Supreme Court.

On Friday, Nov. 30, the justices considered petitions in ten cases regarding same-sex marriage.

Nine were various challenges to the federal Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage for purposes of federal law (like Social Security survivorship benefits) as the union of one man and one woman. DOMA also says that if one state creates gay marriage, other states do not need to recognize the validity of those marriages. But none of the cases involving this second issue are currently before the High Court.

ACRU Supreme Court Brief Calls Florida Permit Denial 'Extortion'

Nov. 30, 2012 - In a case with profound implications for property owners, the American Civil Rights Union filed a brief on Nov. 28 at the U.S. Supreme Court arguing that bureaucrats so violated a Florida man's constitutional rights against seizure of his property without proper compensation that it amounts to "extortion."

The brief in Coy A. Koontz v. St. John's River Water Management District, written by ACRU General Counsel Peter J. Ferrara, argues that state officials required conditions for issuing land use permits that constitute a stark "taking" prohibited under the Fifth Amendment.

We do this because we recognize that no matter how responsibly we live our lives, any one of us, at any moment, might face hard times, might face bad luck, might face a crippling illness or layoff." Parting Company

This column by ACRU Policy Board Member and Professor of Economics Dr. Walter E. Williams was published November 28, 2012 on Townhall.com.

For decades, it has been obvious that there are irreconcilable differences between Americans who want to control the lives of others and those who wish to be left alone. Which is the more peaceful solution: Americans using the brute force of government to beat liberty-minded people into submission or simply parting company? In a marriage, where vows are ignored and broken, divorce is the most peaceful solution. Similarly, our constitutional and human rights have been increasingly violated by a government instituted to protect them. Americans who support constitutional abrogation have no intention of mending their ways.

It seems like everyone is piling on my college friend Grover because they can't wait to abandon the tax pledge not to raise taxes that he sponsors, and that they took so gleefully when they were unknowns trying to break into politics.

It seems that way because any time any Republican does it he is lionized all over the Democrat party-controlled press. Capitalism?
By Rich Galen
I hope I'm wrong, but it seems to me that we have long since erased most, if not all, remnants of capitalism from the American economic system. And no matter how much the economy might contract as it free falls down the fiscal cliff, this much is true: We now have proof that the U.S. economy is totally -- totally -- dependent on federal government spending.

Heritage Foundation Morning Bell

What IS the Fiscal Cliff?

With just a few weeks left in 2012, all eyes in Washington are on Capitol Hill and the "fiscal cliff" negotiations. As usual, Congress and the President are taking highly contentious issues down to the wire before cutting a deal-never a situation that ends well for taxpayers.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke coined the term "fiscal cliff" while urging Congress to avoid a steep dropoff for the economy at the end of the year thanks to tax increases and automatic budget cuts.

There is no agreement right now on how to avoid it, however. When Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner presented the White House's plan to House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) last week, Boehner said, "You can't be serious." Thus far, President Obama's answer to the fiscal cliff is a proposed $1.6 trillion in tax hikes plus new stimulus spending-and expanded power for himself to raise the debt ceiling without congressional approval. He suggests only magnifying the policies that brought us to the fiscal cliff in the first place.

Heritage's Romina Boccia, James Sherk, and Katie Tubb have explained "What's in the Fiscal Cliff?" and recommended solutions to several of the immediate problems. They note that American individuals, families, businesses, and the military will all be harmed if the nation goes "off the cliff," so to speak, or if a bad deal is done in Washington. Here are some of the major components of the fiscal cliff.

Tax Hikes

Tax hikes are the centerpiece of the problem, as the largest tax increase in American history is scheduled to kick in on January 1. This tax increase has been dubbed "Taxmageddon." The authors break down its parts:

Most of this massive tax increase stems from the expiration of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts implemented under President George W. Bush. There is also the payroll tax cut, the alternative minimum tax patch, and a host of other policies that expire at year's end. In addition, five of the 18 tax increases built into Obamacare are scheduled to go into effect. Families will bear the brunt of this tax increase among American households, with an average increase of over $4,100 in taxes.

Raising taxes on upper-income earners would affect the nation's most robust job creators among small businesses. The effects of this would be devastating to the economy. The Congressional Budget Office is already forecasting another recession could hit in 2013. Congress should extend current tax policies for all Americans.

Defense Cuts

The fiscal cliff includes required cuts to defense spending. The cuts to America's defenses known as "sequestration" were never supposed to happen. They are kicking in because a congressional "super committee" failed to reach a deal on spending cuts after last summer's deal to raise the debt ceiling. Now these cuts are poised to gut military readiness because of a previous Washington negotiation gone wrong.

A Continual Medicare Problem

Medicare's finances are in grave trouble. Years ago, Congress decided to reduce Medicare spending by paying doctors less to treat Medicare patients. That was an unsustainable idea-and Congress realized it later. Every year, instead of allowing the automatic cuts to doctor pay, Congress has made a temporary patch called the "doc fix" that keeps payments coming-which helps delay substantial Medicare reform. Now, "Unless Congress patches together another doc fix agreement before December 31, physicians will see a 27 percent decrease in pay, a situation that will make it unaffordable for many doctors to continue accepting Medicare patients."

After preventing the cuts once again (which is likely to happen in any deal), the new Congress should pursue real Medicare reform that would permanently eliminate this problem.

Extending Unemployment Benefits

Federal funding for extended unemployment benefits is also set to expire at the end of this year. Extending these benefits again is one of the issues on the fiscal cliff bargaining table.

Although the average length of unemployment is 40 weeks, these benefits are available for 73 weeks. In a rough economy, many people need unemployment benefits. But "extending UI also increases unemployment and can hurt those it is meant to help. Extending benefits for too long encourages the unemployed to postpone job searches or hold out for something that may not be attainable." While a deal is likely to extend these benefits, Congress should set the benefits at a more realistic 52 or 60 weeks.

This is a complex set of problems that should not be glossed over in a hasty deal.

Louisiana Unions Fight School Choice
By Rachel Sheffield

Friday was a sad day for Louisiana students. In response to a suit brought by education unions, a district court ruled that the Louisiana school choice program's funding mechanism is unconstitutional.

The program allows low-income children from underperforming Louisiana public schools to attend private schools of their choice. Sadly, now the educational future of those students hangs in the balance.

School choice advocates "are expected to appeal the court's ruling directly to the Louisiana Supreme Court," noted the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice. As a result, the ruling is suspended "so that children are not adversely affected during the appeal process."

What To
Watch
Mississippi Governor Wants to Expand School Choice

Governor Phil Bryant says he'd like to see a tax credit scholarship plan, public school open enrollment, as well as more charter schools in his state.

Number of the Week

2 Million
More than 2 million American students are enrolled in charter schools nationwide.

In some cities, large portions of the student population attend charters: New Orleans (76%), Detroit (41%), and Washington, D.C. (41%) are among them.

See National Alliance for Public Charter Schools 2012 annual report.
 Quote of the Week
"How sad that bureaucratic funding formulas and public employee unions take precedence over parents wanting to give their children the best education possible. We are confident that when this ruling is appealed, the Louisiana Supreme Court will rule in favor of kids and their parents' right to choose effective, safe schools."

Don't Miss

Siding with Unions against Opportunity

The Louisiana education unions that brought the lawsuit against the state's school choice program essentially say "better that all students fail together, rather than let parents take the money that is supposed to go to public education and try to get their child actually educated," writes the Wall Street Journal.
National School Choice Week is planning "the first-ever nationwide, whistle-stop train tour in support of school choice." Check it out here!

Heritage Action for America Action Alert

An $800 Billion Tax Hike

Citing Bill Clinton's former chief of staff Erskine Bowles, House Republican leaders once again offered to increase taxes on the American people by $800 billion. Republicans retained control of the U.S. House of Representatives to serve as a check to President Obama's big-government agenda, not to find creative ways to fund it.

After the election, Speaker John Boehner rightly said, "The question we should be asking is not which taxes should I raise to get more revenue." But for the second time in less than a month, Republican lawmakers reiterated their willingness to agree to "$800 billion in new revenue." As we have said numerous times, America does not have a tax revenue problem. Our government has a spending problem.

>> CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE: Tell your Representative tax hikes are not part of the solution!

Not only are Republican Leaders asking their members to go back on their promise not to raise taxes on the American people, but they appear unwilling to fight for the bold entitlement reforms that won them the House in 2010.

While making a massive and economically damaging capitulation on taxes, they claimed, "it would be counterproductive to publicly or privately propose entitlement reforms" because Obama and his congressional allies are "unwilling to support" the reforms.

>> MAKE THE CALL: Don't back down on entitlement reform.

In 1990, President George H.W. Bush broke his solemn pledge: "read my lips: no new taxes." It cost him the election. In more than 20 years since, congressional Republicans have avoided making the same mistake. And now, as our nation's economy is struggling to produce growth, our leaders in Congress are about to make precisely the wrong decision.

Thank you in advance for making the call and holding our lawmakers accountable for the promises they made to you.

Sincerely,

Russ Vought

BREAKING NEWS

House Republicans have just countered Barack Obama's ludicrous tax-and-spend proposal of last week with a new offer insisting on more budget cuts and some new revenues. We will delve into the details and share our thoughts tomorrow.

Barack The Borrower

As Washington politicians continue to debate solutions for the fiscal cliff, here's a startling fact to keep in mind: In just four years in office Barack Obama has borrowed as much money as every U.S. president from Washington to the beginning of George W. Bush's term.

Terry Jeffrey at CNSNews.com writes, "the debt has increased $5,696,206,400,691.90 during Obama's presidency. On July 2, 2001, more than five months after President George W. Bush entered office, the national debt was $5,693,220,327,798.14, according to the Treasury."

That is an astonishing amount of money, but that is how big the federal government has become. And it is proof of the fact that we cannot tax our way out of this fiscal mess. According to one 2009 study, tax rates would have to be tripled across the board in order to balance the budget.

Have you noticed lately how Grover Norquist has become a household name? The Democrats and the media are insisting that the only thing preventing a deal on the fiscal cliff is Norquist's anti-tax pledge that most congressional Republicans have signed.

Let me say this as emphatically as I can: I am not a fan of Grover Norquist for a variety of reasons, most of which have nothing to do with economics. Sadly, Norquist has a remarkably blind eye when it comes to the threat America faces from radical Islam, but I'll leave that critique for another day.

Having said that, the idea that Grover Norquist is the reason that congressional Republicans don't wake up in the morning excited about raising taxes is absurd. If any man is responsible for the GOP opposition to higher taxes it is Ronald Reagan. Reagan redefined the Republican Party as the party of lower taxes and smaller government.

Yet the media are constantly telling us that we must accept higher taxes because Barack Obama ran on tax increases and he got elected. Well, virtually every House Republican ran on a platform of lower taxes, and they won too! But somehow only Republicans are expected to abandon their principles and betray their constituents when they win elections.

Radical Islam On The March

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas returned to the West Bank this weekend a hero after the United Nations General Assembly voted to elevate the status of the Palestinian Authority. Abbas told a cheering crowd, "One day, a young Palestinian will raise the Palestinian flag over Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the state of Palestine!"

Notice that Abbas did not say the Palestinian flag would fly over East Jerusalem. He is demanding that the most significant city to Israelis be turned over to him and his thugs.

There is bi-partisan support in Congress for cutting off the flow of U.S. tax dollars to the Palestinian Authority. It is unconscionable that hard-working American taxpayers are bailing out these Islamic extremists. But what is the Obama Administration's response? Nothing.

Well, not exactly. At a forum on Middle East policy Friday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that Israelis had demonstrated a "lack of generosity" and "the lack of empathy" toward the Palestinians. Seriously, Hillary? The Israeli government goes to extraordinary lengths to protect the lives of innocent Palestinians, including sending text messages to warn of air strikes! Israel provides education, health care and other services to millions of Palestinians living in Israel.

Meanwhile, the Muslim Brotherhood is tightening its grip on Egypt. Last week, the Islamists drafted a new constitution. According to the Associated Press, Sharia law is new the basis of all Egyptian law, and the new constitution refuses to ban slavery.

Hundreds of thousands of Egyptians have poured into Cairo's Tahrir Square in protest, demanding protections for religious minorities and equal rights for women. But according to foreign press reports, they are being met by gangs paid by President Mohamed Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood allies. Men protesting the new constitution are being beaten up and women are being gang-raped.

Presumably Obama will condemn Morsi's regime now. He spent the last year campaigning against a "war on women" when the main issue was paying for Sandra Fluke's birth control. Now women are being sexually assaulted in the streets of Cairo for the "offense" of demanding equal rights. How long can Barack Obama stay silent about radical Islam's very real war on women?

Planned Parenthood's Abortion Agenda

Last week the board of Planned Parenthood of South Central New York voted unanimously to change its name and sever ties with the national organization, Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The reason: Abortion.

Abortion is critical to Planned Parenthood's bottom line. In 2010, PPFA mandated that all Planned Parenthood affiliates must perform abortions starting in 2013. Last year, House Republicans tried to cutoff taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood. But Barack Obama is so ideologically driven that he threatened to shut down the government in response.

The South Central New York affiliate isn't taking a pro-life position. It simply saw no reason to duplicate procedures offered by other doctors and clinics in the area. But its decision is a reminder that Planned Parenthood isn't really about "women's health."
