Courage for the Long War Ahead
by Joel B. Pollak6 Nov 2012
In 2000, the left reacted to its peculiar loss by venting its rage against the Constitution, vowing to eliminate the Electoral College. It never did so, but never abandoned its broader ambition fundamentally to transform the nation's constitutional foundation. Our reaction must be the opposite: to re-affirm our commitment to the Constitution, though it means losing this battle, and to find the courage for the long struggle that lies ahead.
On November 6, the people of the United States rejected President Barack Obama. And re-elected him to a second term in office.
Though Obama failed to win a majority in the popular vote--and may even have lost the popular vote outright--he won enough votes in the Electoral College to claim victory. The same constitutional peculiarity that brought George W. Bush into office in 2000 may have returned Obama to the White House.
The voters also re-affirmed the results of the historic Tea Party election of 2010, returning Republicans to power in the House of Representatives. And yet the voters also retained Democrats in control of the Senate, preserving the results of the anti-war wave election of 2006.
The U.S. Congress is now divided between two parties whose members were elected on platforms of protest, each determined to stop the other from pursuing its policies.
In the days that follow, great efforts will be spent on explaining the results as consequences of many factors, big and small.
Perhaps Obama would have lost if not for Hurricane Sandy. Perhaps Romney would have won if he had fought harder over Benghazi or pushed back against personal attacks. Perhaps the GOP is out of touch with the country's changing mores and demographics. Perhaps Democrats have not yet reckoned with fiscal reality.
Both sides lost. The American people, in effect, handed a vote of no confidence to Washington.
On November 19th the Philadelphia Freedom Center will be having a lunch with John Fund. The noon event will be at the Union League of Philadelphia. For more information and registration please click here or go to phillyfreedom.org.

Florida Family Association's webmaster American Family Online has produced the following remarkable product to protect children and adults from explicit material on cell phones and tablets.
According to our research at AFO, the largest growing group of smart phone users is the 12-17 year old age group. Unfortunately, also according to research, the largest viewership of pornography from the Internet on smart phones is 12 to 17 year old children. The impact is catastrophic. Desensitization, failed relationships, abuse of women are the results, nothing good.
Although there are other so called parental control functions and filtered browser apps available, none give the protection and full functionality of MobileWebGuard. We are most proud of the intelligent content scanning and the lock down so that it cannot be easily removed or deactivated. A filter that can easily be removed or bypassed is a placebo and will do more harm than good if a parent thinks the phone is filtered and it is not.
This app works on most Android and Apple (iOS) devices including smart phones and tablets! These are the fastest growing segments in consumer technology and thus the most exposed to the dark side of the Internet. For peace of mind online, a parent must insure their child has a protected mobile device.

Yes, it's true: You can support ACT! for America-at no cost to you!An important message from Guy Rodgers, Executive Director
The next time you make an online purchase of almost anything, you could be helping ACT! for America-at no cost to you.
Sound too good to be true? It isn't.
All you have to do is sign up for "iGive"-a program that's been around since 1997.
The concept is as powerful as it is simple.
Every time an iGive member makes an online purchase at over 1,000 brand-name stores, a percentage of that purchase is donated to that person's charity of choice.
And with the holidays just around the corner, you could be helping ACT! for America with every gift you buy!
The concept isn't new. In the mid-1990s many supporters of non-profit organizations signed up with long distance telephone programs where a percentage of their bill was donated to their charity of choice.
But our investigation of iGive has convinced us that this program has an ease of use and sophistication that we find remarkable.
Imagine booking a hotel room on Orbitz-and having 1.6% of that purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
Or buying an Xbox at Best Buy-and having 1.2% of the purchase price donated to ACT! for America.
The same goes for buying merchandise at Amazon, Bath and Body Works, Advance Auto Parts, Game Stop, Kmart, Home Depot, Holiday Inn, Old Navy, NASCAR Superstore, Overstock.com, Mattel, J.C. Penney, Office Max, QVC, Radio Shack, Shoe Carnival, Pottery Barn-and on and on the list goes.
In other words, every time you make a purchase of merchandise you would buy anyway, you would be financially supporting ACT! for America!
All you have to do is log on below and follow the directions to create your account and download the iGive "button." (Note: downloading the "button" is key).
When I was first informed of iGive, I was skeptical. I've seen these ideas come and go. Often, they're too good to be true. Or there are all kinds of glitches and problems.
So I spent hours researching.
I looked at online customer reviews (which were very good). I read all of iGive's fine print, such as Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. I signed up and even emailed two tech support questions to see how good their tech support was.
And the more I dug, the more I liked what I saw. For instance, both of my tech support questions were responded to within 60 minutes. How often does THAT happen?
As you know from our Patriot Partner program, we're all about encouraging a lot of people to each do a little-to do something. When everyone does a little, together we accomplish a lot.
So consider what could happen.
If just 1% of ACT! for America members each purchased just $400 in merchandise in 2013, from all the available outlets, and the average percentage donated to ACT! was 1.5%, the total amount donated back to ACT! for America would be...
...$15,000. That's a lot of money, wouldn't you agree?
And if you were one of those ACT! for America members, it wouldn't cost you one thin dime to help ACT! for America receive $15,000.
If this idea really caught on, and eventually 5% of our members made purchases with iGive, that $15,000 could explode to $50,000, $75,000 or more!
What's more, that 1.5% figure might be low. Many of the merchants offer percentage donations that are much higher. One printer inkjet company I looked at offered 13%!
Every merchant website you visit tells you right at the top what percentage of your purchase price will be donated to ACT! for America.
Just think what we could accomplish with an extra $15,000, $50,000 or $75,000 in our fight against radical Islam!
One of the things I most wanted to know was their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Check it out for yourself. I confirmed the terms with a company representative. And I like what I learned. As security-conscious as I am, I have no hesitation using the service-and I'm already doing so.
I know there are many people out there who would love to support ACT! for America, or give more than they're giving, but in these tough economic times they simply can't.
Well, here's a way that everyone who believes in our mission can easily support what we're doing-at no cost to them.
It doesn't get any better than that.
There are already chapter leaders who have signed up for the program, and the feedback I have been getting from them has been all positive. They love the idea and many of them are already using it.
So please, join me and these ACT! for America chapter leaders who are already signed up and using the iGive service.
Yours for a safe and free America
Guy Rodgers
While the Progressive movement seeks to divide Americans-by income, race, or creed-we believe in an ideal that transcends any differences and unites all people: Freedom.
When FreedomWorks Foundation helped fund the powerful documentary Runaway Slave, the story of a former NAACP Chapter President turned Tea Party leader, that was the story we wanted to share.
Runaway Slave stars FreedomWorks Fellow Rev. C.L. Bryant, who discovers in the film that by buying into the entitlement mindset of Progressives, the black community has traded one form of tyranny for another.
Thanks to the outpouring of support for Runaway Slave, I'm pleased to share with you that this exciting film is now available through Video On Demand. Click here and watch Runaway Slave now!
Our friend C.L. is not only an electrifying speaker-one that has impressed FreePAC audiences around the country-but also a fantastic storyteller. If you are unfamiliar with Runaway Slave or his story, I encourage you to watch the trailer below:
"It's time conservatives take on Liberal Hollywood. You must see Runaway Slave, it's great!" - Glenn Beck
As we fight to reclaim our country we must restore the cultural heritage of America by supporting films, books, and songs that express our ideals. This is how we reach more people with our message and it's the reason Runaway Slave is such a critical project. Please click here now and get Runaway Slave through Video On Demand.

AMERICAN JEWS AND CHRISTIAN EVANGELICALS: IRRECONCILABLE ENEMIES OR INEVITABLE ALLIES?
Michael Medved is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host and bestselling author. His daily show is heard by over 3.75 million people across the country. Born in Philadelphia, Michael won admission to Yale at age 16 as a National Merit Scholar. He majored in American History and graduated with honors, before attending Yale Law School, where his classmates included Bill and Hillary Clinton. Michael wrote his first bestseller at age 26 - "What Really Happened to the Class of '65?" - a skeptical reconsideration of the "counterculture" of the 1960's that became a weekly TV series on NBC.
Many American Jews distrust and even fear the rise of the evangelical Christianity. They see this religious movement as a threat to the survival of Judaism in the United States and to the continuance of a society that values pluralism and religious liberty. On the other hand increasing numbers of American Jews view evangelicals as natural allies, not just when it comes to support of Israel, but on a range of social issues here in the U.S. In this provocative presentation, Michael Medved will explain where Jews and Christians already agree, and where they can never agree, in their participation in the ongoing battles shaping American society.

The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq
Jul 18th, 2012
Daniel Greenfield's new Freedom Center pamphlet,The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq, is an effort to understand the politics of the "war on terror" which has now reached a final punctuation point with the U.S. decision to speed its withdrawal from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan (where success was once deemed so crucial to national security), and to practice an incoherent form of regime change in Libya while ignoring more serious threats in Syria and Iran.
The war on terror began, Greenfield shows, as an admirable bipartisan commitment soon after the tragedy of 9/11-an effort to transcend party lines not only to punish those who attacked our country but also to interrupt planning for further attacks and try to stop the international spread of the Islamic jihad behind the attacks. But the Democratic Party, with the honorable exception of a few individuals like Richard Gephardt and Joe Lieberman, turned its back on a war soon after authorizing it, and did so at a time when American troops were facing hostile enemy fire.
Although Senate Democrats on the intelligence oversight committee had been granted access to every piece of data available to the White House, they now accused President Bush of tricking them to secure their approval. In fact, their own about-face was entirely dictated by political considerations when a Sixties antiwar activist, Howard Dean, surged ahead in the Democratic primary polls and it appeared for a moment that Americans were on the side of retreat and capitulation.
Although regime change in Iraq had been official U.S. policy since Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, Democratic senators such as John Kerry who only months earlier had supported the war effort now launched demoralizing attacks on the American commander-in-chief and his troops in the field, stigmatizing it as "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." If the truth was the first casualty of their war against the Bush administration, the second casualty was the principle of bi-partisanship that had guided foreign policy debates throughout the Cold War, the principle that "politics stops at the water's edge." Now partisan politics trumped security.
The unrestrained attacks on the Iraq War as illegal and unjustified went largely unanswered by Republicans who failed to call the Democratic saboteurs of the nation's war effort to account or to decry the risk their cynical attacks posed to American servicemen and women on the battlefield. As Greenfield demonstrates, the Democrats' partisanship had consequences not only in Iraq but elsewhere in the region: the paralysis that resulted from their "anti-war" campaign led straight to the destruction of Lebanon and the installation of a terrorist army, Hezbollah, there as a regime within a regime. And it emboldened an overtly Islamofascist regime in Iran not only to supply the IEDs responsible for most of our troop fatalities in Iraq but also to proceed with a nuclear program aimed directly at Israel and the West.
The Great Betrayal shows that Barack Obama's abandonment of Iraq is a betrayal of all the Americans and Iraqis who gave their lives to establish freedom in that country. And the result of his policies in Afghanistan has been as disastrous. While the President presented his rationale for pursuing war there as the pursuit of al-Qaeda, after abandoning his "surge" (which resulted in two thirds of all America's Afghan casualties there and the resurgence of the Taliban allies of al-Qaeda), he blithely prepared for withdrawal as if national objectives had been met.

Individuals sympathetic to the Muslim Brotherhood's sinister agenda have infiltrated the Obama Administration.
Brainwashed by the Muslim Students Association and then propelled in to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the David Horowitz Freedom Center tracks the path of Huma Abedin and other Muslim sympathizers who have navigated their way into positions of great influence in the Obama Administration. Everything is revealed in the explosive new Freedom Center pamphlet, "The Muslim Brotherhood in the Obama Administration," written by Frank Gaffney, national security expert who served as Assistant Secretary of Defense under Ronald Reagan.

"Losing our Sons": Documentary looks at domestic Islamic radicalization and jihadization
Charles Jacobs at Americans for Peace and Tolerance announced today the release of a trailer for their upcoming documentary, "Losing Our Sons", featuring Melvin Bledsoe - father of domestic terrorist Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mohamed who gunned down US Army recruiter Pvt. William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.
The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. It also discusses how the agents of radicalization in the Nashville Muslim community have been aided by collaborators in the establishment media, politics and the so-called "interfaith" community.

Individual, Community, and State: How to Think About Religious Freedom
MATTHEW J. FRANCK is the director of the William E. and Carol G. Simon Center on Religion and the Constitution at the Witherspoon Institute and professor emeritus of political science at Radford University. He received his B.A. from Virginia Wesleyan College and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University. A regular contributor to the Washington Post, First Things, and National Review, he is the author of Against the Imperial Judiciary: The Supreme Court vs. the Sovereignty of the People and Strict Scrutiny: Sense and Nonsense on the Supreme Court (forthcoming).
The following is adapted from a lecture delivered at Hillsdale College on September 11, 2012, during a conference on "The Supreme Court: History and Current Controversies."
THERE IS A GROWING awareness among Americans that religious freedom in our country has come under sustained pressures. In the public square where freedom of religion meets public policy, it becomes clearer all the time that there is a high price to be paid for being true to one's conscience. This is no tale of Chicken Little-although a chain of chicken sandwich restaurants based in Atlanta is part of the story. Let me give you a few examples.
In our universities, those citadels of toleration, we find that toleration can be sharply limited. At the Hastings College of Law in San Francisco, the student chapter of the Christian Legal Society was denied any status on the campus because it would not abandon its requirement that members commit themselves to traditional Christian norms regarding sexual morality. The U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 ruling in 2010, held that the student group's rights were not violated by a "take all comers" policy. Following this lead, Vanderbilt University has rewritten its student organizations policy and effectively chased every traditionally Christian student group off campus, denying them regular access to campus facilities. And at the University of Illinois, an adjunct professor of religion, hired to teach a course on Catholicism, was let go because a student complained about his patient explanation of the Catholic Church's natural law teachings on human sexuality. (He was later restored to his teaching duties, but at the expense of the Newman Center, not on the state payroll.)

He has written for most major American periodicals and is the author of twelve books, including My Love Affair With America and Why Are Jews Liberals?
The following is adapted from a speech delivered on September 20, 2012, in Washington, D.C., at Hillsdale College's third annual Constitution Day Dinner.
ONCE UPON A TIME, hardly anyone dissented from the idea that, for better or worse, the United States of America was different from all other nations. This is not surprising, since the attributes that made it different were vividly evident from the day of its birth. Let me say a few words about three of them in particular.
First of all, unlike all other nations past or present, this one accepted as a self-evident truth that all men are created equal. What this meant was that its Founders aimed to create a society in which, for the first time in the history of the world, the individual's fate would be determined not by who his father was, but by his own freely chosen pursuit of his own ambitions. In other words, America was to be something new under the sun: a society in which hereditary status and class distinctions would be erased, leaving individuals free to act and to be judged on their merits alone. There remained, of course, the two atavistic contradictions of slavery and the position of women; but so intolerable did these contradictions ultimately prove that they had to be resolved-even if, as in the case of the former, it took the bloodiest war the nation has ever fought.
Secondly, in all other countries membership or citizenship was a matter of birth, of blood, of lineage, of rootedness in the soil. Thus, foreigners who were admitted for one reason or another could never become full-fledged members of the society. But America was the incarnation of an idea, and therefore no such factors came into play. To become a full-fledged American, it was only necessary to pledge allegiance to the new Republic and to the principles for which it stood.
Thirdly, in all other nations, the rights, if any, enjoyed by their citizens were conferred by human agencies: kings and princes and occasionally parliaments. As such, these rights amounted to privileges that could be revoked at will by the same human agencies. In America, by contrast, the citizen's rights were declared from the beginning to have come from God and to be "inalienable"-that is, immune to legitimate revocation.

Dear Linda, In 2012 our Constitution is under assault like never before.
Even as I write, self-described Progressives are working to subvert the Constitution to replace it with an ever more expansive and intrusive bureaucratic despotism.
My name is Larry Arnn and I'm the President of Hillsdale College. You might have heard Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and other conservative radio hosts talk about Hillsdale College.
The ongoing radical Progressive agenda poses a serious threat to the survival of free government in our great nation. At Hillsdale, we believe that a massive, nationwide education project to promote America's founding principles is the only way to defeat this Progressive agenda.
As one of our most loyal supporters, you've been an important part of Hillsdale's effort to educate Americans on the importance of preserving our Constitution.
That's why I want you to be one of the first to know about our brand new online course:
The first class begins on Tuesday, September 4 and the final one will occur during the week of the national elections in November. I hope you'll sign up immediately.
In this no-cost, ten-week course, you'll learn from members of Hillsdale's politics department faculty - some of the nation's top scholars on the Constitution - about the history of Progressivism and how the movement has slowly chiseled away at our freedoms over the past century.
With Hillsdale's outstanding reputation as a leading academic institution, this course offers you a unique educational experience that you won't be able to get anywhere else.
Earlier this year Hillsdale offered its first online course on the Constitution. And in doing so it made a major impact with more than 275,000 Americans registering for "Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution." We expect our newest course - The Progressive Rejection of the Founding and the Rise of Bureaucratic Despotism - to attract even more attention. And I hope you will be one of the registrants!
Here are the ten lecture topics for the course...
The Progressive Rejection of the Founding and the Rise of Bureaucratic Despotism
The Founders' Constitution and the Challenge of Progressivism Larry P. Arnn, Tuesday, September 4
Woodrow Wilson and the Rejection of the Founders' Principles, Part 1 Ronald J. Pestritto, Monday, September 10
Woodrow Wilson and the Rejection of the Founders' Principles, Part 2 Ronald J. Pestritto, Monday, September 17

FDR's New Bill of Rights Will Morrisey, Monday, October 1
Total Regulation: LBJ's Great Society Kevin Portteus, Monday, October 8
The Transformation of America's Political Institutions Kevin Portteus, Monday, October 15
Post-1960s Progressivism John Grant, Monday, October 22
Case Study: Religious Liberty in the Administrative State Thomas G. West, Monday, October 29
Restoring Constitutional Government Larry P. Arnn, Monday, November 5
Why is Hillsdale teaching a course on the Progressive movement?
Americans who believe in constitutional liberty and limited government need to understand what they're up against, so Hillsdale designed this course to teach Americans the history of Progressivism and how it continues to work to ignore and dismantle the U.S. Constitution.
From its intellectual origins in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, to the massive government expansions under FDR's New Deal and LBJ's Great Society, to the third great expansion of big-government programs during the past three years, Progressives are making our country unrecognizable in comparison to the constitutional republic created by America's Founding Fathers.
To understand fully this attack on limited government constitutionalism, and thus to know what is needed to stem the tide, take Hillsdale's new online Constitution course, which starts on September 4 and concludes the week of the national elections in November.
AND, like all Hillsdale online courses, it will be archived online so that you can refer back to the lectures or access them at your leisure.
I have the privilege of delivering the first lecture, "The Founders' Constitution and the Challenge of Progressivism," and the final lecture, "Restoring Constitutional Government." All of the classes will be taught by Hillsdale College professors - the top teachers in their field and the same ones who instruct our students here on Hillsdale's campus.
I am proud, thanks to your past support and the support of many patriotic Americans, that Hillsdale College is teaching hundreds of thousands of Americans about the Constitution and its principles of liberty. This course is crucial for all Americans who want to understand the dangers confronting the Constitution and its principles today. I hope YOU will join us for this important course!
As President of Hillsdale College, I have devoted my life to education, and in particular to teaching about the American founding, its underlying principles, and subsequent constitutional history.
The last chapter in that history, covering the past century, tells a story about how the progressive movement has undermined the Constitution and replaced it with a bureaucratic despotism - if we are to recover the Constitution, that story must be understood.
That is why we are offering this new course, free, to all Americans.
The more than 275,000 who signed up for our first constitution course last spring prove that Americans are willing and eager to study and defend the Constitution and the principles that made our country the most free and most prosperous in human history!
I hope you will sign up for our new course and help continue this re-awakening of national interest in the Constitution.
This new online course, available at no charge to the public, is not without cost to Hillsdale. The College has already invested much to make this critical course a reality.
To make this course available nationwide will cost nearly $1,000,000. While a monumental expenditure for Hillsdale College, we consider it a duty to reach and teach as many students, citizens, and elected officials as possible during this year and beyond.
ACTION STEP #3: Please forward this email to friends and family and encourage them to enroll in this brand new course on The Progressive Rejection of the Founding and the Rise of Bureaucratic Despotism.
OUR CHALLENGE
With your help, Hillsdale College is dedicated to returning the Constitution to its rightful place at the center of American political life.
If our republic does not re-embrace the Constitution, we will not be able to reclaim the liberty that has been lost, and may yet lose the liberty we still have.
Hillsdale College has accepted this challenge, and our commitment to making this course available to citizens nationwide is proof. But we need you, as one of our best supporters, to help to make this possible. . .
As you may already know, in order to protect the integrity of its mission and prevent intrusive government regulation, Hillsdale College accepts no taxpayer funding whatsoever, even indirectly in the form of federal or state student grants or loans.
Your generosity at this critical time will not just help underwrite the cost of making this course available nationwide. It will also support all the other ways that Hillsdale College educates Americans to be defenders of liberty and self-government.
MY GIFT FOR YOU
In appreciation of your donation of $100 or more, I will send you a copy of the book used by our students in their one-semester course on the Constitution - The U.S. Constitution: A Reader.
This exhaustive, 790-page volume was compiled by our Politics Department faculty at Hillsdale. It's the perfect companion to all of Hillsdale's online courses on the Constitution. For a donation of $50, I'll send you a complimentary copy of my recently-published hardbound book. Its title is:

Thekey Debates between the Founders, the Progressives, and others.
Like when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, we now know what happens when a candidate so weak anybody can beat him meets a candidate so weak he cannot beat anybody. Americans vote for the status quo. $6 billion later, Americans voted for the status quo. Karl Rove, call your donors.
Republicans will keep the House. Democrats will keep the Senate. Obama will keep the White House.
It is what it is. The next two years are going to be some of the most fun and exciting years within the modern American conservative movement.
We know in American politics that nothing is permanent. The question we are going to have to assess is whether Barack Obama's coalition is a Democratic coalition or a Barack Obama coalition. My personal opinion is that Barack Obama built a winning coalition for Barack Obama and it may not translate to a long term Democratic coalition. Just ask Minority Leader Pelosi and that now endangered creature known as the Democratic Governor.
As the jockeying for 2016 begins soon (and it will begin very soon) we will find out.
The Obama campaign ran a very good campaign. The Republicans did not. There was no fraud. There was no stealing the election. There was just a really good ground game from Barack Obama and a lot of smoke and mirrors from Team Romney and outside charlatans, many of whom will now go work for Republican Super PACs making six figure salaries, further draining the pockets of rich Republicans when not on television explaining how awesome and expert they are. Whether you can bring yourself to say it or not, like it or not, Barack Obama is, today, your President.
There will be a lot of blame to go around, but, if Republicans are honest, they'll have to concede that the Romney campaign ran a bad campaign and only almost won because the President had a bad debate. Romney could not even win his home state, his second home state, or his vacation home state.
Neither side bothered to put forward a serious agenda that stood for much of anything. Barack Obama ran on beating up Mitt Romney and Mitt Romney ran on running away from himself. He stood for nothing and everything at the same time. At least Barack Obama campaigned on the consistent message of hating Mitt Romney.
Compare Romney to Scott Walker. Scott Walker took on the unions in Wisconsin and won big. Romney barely took on Barack Obama. He drew few lines in the sand, made those fungible, and did not stand on many principles. Americans wanted to assess a contrast between the candidates and got blurred lines instead. They went with the politician they knew instead of the one who was different depending on the election season, constituency, and time of day.
At the same time, Romney made a conscious decision to blow off Hispanic voters. Yes conservatives, we must account for this. The Romney campaign to the hispanic community was atrocious and, frankly, the fastest growing demographic in America isn't going to vote for a party that sounds like that party hates brown people. That does not mean the GOP must offer up amnesty. It does mean that a group that is a natural fit for the GOP on social issues, must in someway be made to feel comfortable with the GOP.
One more thing before moving on to my larger point, both parties should henceforth agree to never, ever nominate for President anyone from Massachusetts.
The usual hand wringing is occurring now about social conservatives causing the GOP to lose.
Todd Akin lost because he swallowed his foot and kept gagging on it, not because he is pro-life.
Richard Mourdock was beaten by a Democrat who ran as a pro-lifer.
As for the so called "war on women," there is no war on women and women did not abandon Mitt Romney for Barack Obama because of their love of killing kids in the womb.
In fact, if you pull out black female voters, the Democrats and Republicans are tied among women. Are black women voting Democrat because they are women or in a consistent pattern with black voters in general.
Blame social conservatives if you must, but (A) you are lying to yourself and (B) if this is a fight you want to have, I'm happy to see you in the primaries in 2014. I like my chances.. . . please click here for the rest of the post →
3.The Charlatans
The GOP spent a ton of money through a bunch of organizations, including Super PACs, that was flat out wasted. The Newt Gingrich Super PAC was just a sign of things to come it seems.
The excuse that is going to be used is that had these groups not spent the money, the GOP would have suffered major losses.
For the past several months, even before the massive barrage of spending started, the GOP led or was even in the generic congressional ballot. There was never a real danger that the GOP would lose the House despite Democratic bluster. The RGA, with little help from the major Super PACs, expanded the Republican gubernatorial margin to the historic level of 30. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →

There's no way to spin this - it's pure, unadulterated, blatantly obvious media bias, in which information extremely damaging to Obama was kept from the public, to protect the President at a moment of crisis.

Sen. Graham: Obama move on defense layoff notices 'patently illegal'
By Jeremy Herb - 10/01/12
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) says that he will do anything he can to block the Obama administration from reimbursing defense contractors for severance costs if the firms don't send layoff notices to employees.
The Obama administration issued guidance Friday that said defense firms' costs would be covered if they have to layoff workers due to canceled contracts under the across-the-board cuts set to take effect Jan. 2.
Lockheed Martin is laying off 123,000 workers just weeks before Christmas.
The President is trying to hold off any announcement until after the election. This will make a significant increase to the questionable 7.8 % Unemployment number.
Lockheed is going to lay off 123,000 defense workers due to Obama's downsizing of the military. This hit the Drudge report yesterday.
The law requires Lockheed to give 60-day notice to allto-be-fired employees within 60 days. That drop dead date would be November1st. Since this would be devastating for his reelection, Obama haspromised that our government would cover all Lockheed severance packages tofired employees if Lockheed would not release the names and locations ofthose losing their jobs until after the election! Do you have any idea how many millions that will cost the taxpayer?Thank you Obama!!

There are plenty of ways to cast the divisions between parties and movements, but the elemental act of voting divides rhetoric from motive.
Obama called voting the best revenge, because for a sizable portion of his base that's exactly what voting is. Their votes are a violent act, a spiteful assault on a country that they can never participate in for economic or cultural reasons. Change for them is not a positive program, but a negative assault on the national majority. Bankrupting the country by robbing it for their own benefit is their revenge.
Voting for us isn't revenge, it's resistance. It isn't a choice that emerges out of reasoned debate between two sets of values, it's an act of resistance against the revengers, the looters and the destroyers. The voting booth is a form of sabotage against their regime, their corrupt interests and their oppressive regulations.
These last four years we have endured an intensified occupation of our political, religious and personal freedoms. We have been robbed, lied to, ordered around and in some cases even killed. These crimes have been carried out by elected officials and the election will allow us to remove some of them. It will not end the reign of terror, but if successful, our act of electoral resistance will inflict a severe setback on the plans of their ideological movement and the unelected officials who rely on them for funding and political support.
The election will not end the occupation, but it will interrupt the forward momentum of the occupiers. It will force them to fall back into their think tanks and formulate new strategies for dismantling the Constitution, eliminating our civil rights and ending elections as anything but empty shows with no meaning.
What is the TRUE motivation for Barack Obama's politics? A forensic profiler who has worked on the Natalie Holloway and O.J. Simpson cases spills the beans.
From Obamacare to marijuana regulations, 10 states are voting on whether simply to tell Washington bureaucrats to take their regulations and, well, keep them.
In the last Rasmussen survey of Party identification before the 2010 election the Democrats held a Party ID lead of 2.9%. Republicans were 33.4% Democrats, 36.3% and Independents 30.3%. Republicans still won 63 seats in Congress.
Today's Rasmussen final Party ID survey shows Republicans at an all- time high of 39.1% Democrats at 33.3% and Independents at 27.5%. There are 5.8% more Republicans than Democrats.
Since September's survey, published a bit over 30 days ago, Republicans have grown 2.3%, Democrats have fallen .9% and Independents have fallen 1.5%.
These shifts account for only 2.4 points of the difference of 5.8. Where have the other 3.4 points come from?
It means people feel more comfortable identifying as Republican. It means where registration has continued into the middle or end of October (in New York State it went on until Oct. 13) Republicans have seen a strong increase in registrations.
An anonymous internet Email making the cyber rounds about what is really on Barack Obama's famous gold ring links back to a WorldNetDaily piece by Jerome R. Corsi, put up on October 10, of this year.
Does the Obama ring really say, "There is no god except Allah?" Well, depending on what Middle Eastern scholar you talk to, you get a different answer, and the Corsi story is still standing. "So What," said an international law professor at the University of Kansas to Blaze reporters when they asked him about his take on the inscription on Obama's ring. "The president is a monotheist," said Professor Raj Bhala. (1)

Hurricane Sandy appears to have lifted Barack Obama to a very small lead in the national polls. But it should not be a total shock if Mitt Romney wins the election and carries Ohio to do it.
Will the outcome of today's election be determined by voter fraud? Former Department of Justice lawyer and PJ Media columnist J. Christian Adams thinks incidents will be at an all-time high. Hear what groups like True the Vote are doing to ensure fairness at the ballot box this election night.
President Obama has ended the most divisive presidency in modern history with the most divisive campaign of the modern era. When he hasn't been stoking division, he's been busy undermining and attacking the core institutions of American public life.
If President Barack Obama is reelected, it seems certain "Obamacare" will be fully implemented. Dr. Rick D. Schoeling, a primary care physician in Pittsburg, Kansas, says that if he were in the position of considering medical school today, he would choose to avoid medicine entirely.
In his 1989 farewell address, Ronald Reagan stressed why the simple act of voting makes our nation unique:
Ours was the first revolution in the history of mankind that truly reversed the course of government, and with three little words: "We the People." "We the People" tell the government what to do; it doesn't tell us.
On behalf of your fellow citizens, we ask you to choose carefully in deciding upon the Representatives, Senators, President, and state and local officials who will make our laws. Your choice, along with the choices of your fellow citizens, will determine what America is to become. You, your fellow citizens, and future generations will live in the America you choose.
Today, it is your civic duty to vote. Tomorrow, regardless of the election's results, it is Heritage's duty to do as we have always done. Because we know our principles and we adhere to them, we will continue to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.
Across the nation today, voters are casting ballots not for the President directly but for presidential electors. These electors will constitute the Electoral College and will choose the next President and Vice President.
The Electoral College is not as complicated as it may seem. And it exists for a very important reason: to ensure the President is selected by a constitutional majority.
Each of the fifty states plus the District of Columbia is represented by a number of electors equal to the number of Representatives of the state, plus two Senators. For example, California has the largest amount of electors because it has the most Congressmen: 53 Congressmen+ 2 Senators= 55 Electors. The Heritage Foundation's Julia Shaw explains why the Electoral College is important.
A new video from The Heritage Foundation pokes fun at the outrageous liberal claims about conservative plans to reform and strengthen Medicare. Click here to watch the video.
Abigael Evans should be happy today. She's the four-year-old who's so sick of the election that she cried. Her tears went viral.
It should all be over soon, although we'll have to wait a bit for the official tabulation of the Electoral College.
Here's how it works: Each state has a number of electoral votes equal to its number of Representatives plus two Senators. California has the most (55). Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming have the least (three each). Under the 23rd Amendment, the District of Columbia has the same as the least populous state.
The candidate who wins the popular vote in a state receives all the state's electoral votes (except in Maine and Nebraska, where electors are awarded by congressional district). The first candidate to amass a majority of electoral votes (270 out of 538) will become President.
The Electoral College ensures that the President is chosen by a constitutional majority. Candidates will be "moderated by the need to accommodate a variety of interests and viewpoints," as Charles R. Kesler puts it. Candidates who focus too narrowly on a handful of states, regions, or metropolitan population centers will not be successful in the Electoral College.
There are no permanent "safe states" under the Electoral College. Some states "have simply already made up their minds based upon the years of decisions that preceded the election," explains Tara Ross. Yet when a state ceases to be satisfied, it either becomes a safe state for the opposite political party or a swing state.
To date, President Obama and Governor Romney have visited the same 26 states. This list includes "purple" Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, and Virginia. But it also includes solidly blue states (California, New York) and deep red ones (South Carolina, Texas). Those states, after all, are where the money is.
The Electoral College magnifies the margin of victory, thereby giving a new President a burst of momentum.
For instance, in 1960, John F. Kennedy won only 49.7 percent of the popular vote, compared to Richard Nixon's 49.5 percent. However, Kennedy won 56 percent of the electoral vote, compared to Nixon's 41 percent.
In some 200 years, three Presidents won a majority in the Electoral College but lost the popular vote: Rutherford B. Hayes (1876), Benjamin Harrison (1888), and George W. Bush (2000). When that happens, some want to exchange the Electoral College for a national popular election. Yet as Kesler argues, the choice is not between a democratic and an undemocratic process:
[T]he issue is democracy with federalism (the Electoral College) versus democracy without federalism (a national popular vote). Either is democratic. Only the Electoral College preserves federalism, moderates ideological differences, and promotes national consensus in our choice of a chief executive.
What about a tie? If no candidate wins a majority of the Electoral College, then according to the 12th Amendment, the House of Representative selects the President, and the Senate chooses the Vice President. In the House, each state gets one vote, and the candidate who gains a majority (26 votes) wins. In the Senate, each Senator votes, and 51 votes is required. These contingent elections are rare. On two occasions, the House has selected the President (1800 and 1824); the Senate selected a Vice President once in 1836.
Today, voters in 50 states and the District of Columbia head to the polls to choose our next President. The Electoral College system isn't perfect, but it's still the best system for our federal republic, and hopefully that can convince Ms. Evans to stop weeping.

A feeble executive implies a feeble execution of the government. A feeble execution is but another phrase for a bad execution; and a government ill executed, whatever may be its theory, must, in practice, be a bad government.
Founded in 1973, The Heritage Foundation is a research and educational institute -- a think tank -- whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.
Report: Where Are the Jobs?
Had the stimulus worked and employment shot up as promised, President Barack Obama would have a case to make defending his fiscal policies. As the October jobs report underscores, his policies did not work to increase employment - and his defense of massive deficit spending is thus rendered null and void.
The Smiths Go to Washington - and Spend Too Much Meet the Smith family, whose budget woes bear a striking resemblance to those of the federal government. The Smith family's problem is that they spend way beyond their means. As a result, they have racked up a hefty level of debt. With a national debt of more than $16 trillion, Washington is in very real trouble.
Small Spending Cuts - Like Stopping Federal Funding of Big Bird - Will Not Balance the Budget
Annual spending on entitlement programs is massive compared to other federal spending priorities. Cutting discretionary spending is necessary, but ending federal funding of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (where NPR and PBS receive some funds) will not close the deficit. Entitlement programs must be reformed.
COMMENTARY: The Coming Age of Austerity By Patrick J. Buchanan Whoever wins today, it is hard to be sanguine about the future. The demographic and economic realities do not permit it.
Our Deviant Society By Walter E. Williams I don't hold President Obama completely responsible for his unconstitutional actions. It's the American people who are to blame, for it is we who have lost our morality and our love, knowledge and respect for our Constitution, laying the foundation for Washington tyranny.
