A Red Carpet for Radicals at the White House

 A year-long investigation by the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) has found that scores of known radical Islamists made hundreds of visits to the Obama White House, meeting with top administration officials.
Court documents and other records have identified many of these visitors as belonging to groups serving as fronts for the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and other Islamic militant organizations.
The IPT made the discovery combing through millions of White House visitor log entries. IPT compared the visitors' names with lists of known radical Islamists. Among the visitors were officials representing groups which have:
- Been designated by the Department of Justice as unindicted co-conspirators in terrorist trials; Extolled Islamic terrorist groups including Hamas and Hizballah;
- Obstructed terrorist investigations by instructing their followers not to cooperate with law enforcement;
- Promoted the incendiary conspiratorial allegation that the United States is engaged in a "war against Islam"- a leading tool in recruiting Muslims to carry out acts of terror;
- Repeatedly claimed that many of the Islamic terrorists convicted since 9-11 were framed by the U.S government as part of an anti-Muslim profiling campaign.
Individuals from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) visited the White House at least 20 times starting in 2009. In 2008, CAIR was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist money laundering case in U.S. history - the trial of the Holy Land Foundation in which five HLF officials were convicted of funneling money to Hamas.
U.S. District Court Judge Jorge Solis later ruled that, "The Government has produced ample evidence to establish the association" of CAIR to Hamas, upholding their designations as unindicted co-conspirators. In 2008, the FBI formally ended all contact with CAIR because of its ties to Hamas.
In January 2004, Hussam Ayloush, executive director of CAIR's Los Angeles office, publicly defended Palestinian terror attacks in comments before Muslim students at the University of California - Los Angeles, saying that terrorists were exercising their "legitimate right" to defend themselves against Israeli occupation.
Ayloush, who was a delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., casts the United States as controlled by Israeli interests. At a 2008 CAIR banquet in San Diego, he imagined "an America that respects and humanizes religion. It's an America that is free to act on its values and not on the interests of any foreign lobby." In 2004, he said that the war on terror had become a "war on Muslims." Ayloush attended at least two White House meetings.

- Sign Blitzing: We have 1500 new signs anti-Casey signs (3 versions, 500 each, samples in the photo above). We will also be getting 10,000 Tom Smith signs next week. Next weekend we are hoping to have the "Liberty Van" back in action with a crew to pump up conservatives, annoy the liberals to their core and blitz the county with signs. Joint Rally: Tea Parties, 912 Patriots
and allied groups
Next Saturday, October 27th, is the day when groups from our region gather together at King of Prussia Mall for an afternoon joint sidewalk rally in support of Senate candidate Tom Smith, and our next president Mitt Romney.
We invite all fellow Tea Parties, 912 Patriots and other area groups from city and suburbs to participate, along with West Chester Sheepdogs and Warriors' Watch, plus any of your friends and family who wish to join us.
Signs: There are many worthy issues and causes; Audit the Fed, School Choice, Repeal O'Care and the like, but these will be around and still hot well after the election on November 6th. So let's put them on hold until later. And I urge you to avoid signs that show whatsisname's name. It serves no useful purpose and only rouses feelings of defensiveness in his supporters, especially this close to the election.
Putting first things first for this rally means we raise awareness of our candidates, most especially Tom Smith, to replace Casey. Without a senate majority, Romney will be hamstrung in getting any of his programs through.

King of Prussia Sidewalk Rally
Location: The sidewalk at Route 202 & Mall Boulevard at King of Prussia Malls, by the Wells Fargo Bank. This is the turn where Mall Boulevard leads you between the two malls.
In the three hours we're there, we're seen by 10- to 14,000 passing motorists and passengers. This is reputed to be the largest mall in the U.S. And soon to grow larger by about one-third!
Parking: Park in the large lot adjacent to the Wells Fargo property. Do not park in their lot.
Schedule: Saturday, 1:00 to 4:00 P.M.; or to 5:00 if we're pumped by audience reactions. or whatever you can handle. Bring a folding chair if you like. And water.

PITTSBURGH - The Smith for Senate campaign today announced a debate with Senator Bob Casey, to take place on Friday, October 26, at WPVI's studio in Philadelphia. The debate will be broadcast on Sunday, October 28, and available for rebroadcast after 2:00 pm on October 28, 2012 (and within 72 hours of the original airdate & time) by any television/cable outlet, or radio station that wishes to do so.
"Tom welcomes the opportunity to contrast his detailed plan to create jobs, balance the budget, and reduce the debt with Senator Casey's record as a failed career politician who has voted to increase the debt, raise taxes, and weaken Medicare," said Smith Campaign Manager Jim Conroy. The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq

Daniel Greenfield's new Freedom Center pamphlet, The Great Betrayal: Obama's Wars and the War in Iraq, is an effort to understand the politics of the "war on terror" which has now reached a final punctuation point with the U.S. decision to speed its withdrawal from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan (where success was once deemed so crucial to national security), and to practice an incoherent form of regime change in Libya while ignoring more serious threats in Syria and Iran.
The war on terror began, Greenfield shows, as an admirable bipartisan commitment soon after the tragedy of 9/11-an effort to transcend party lines not only to punish those who attacked our country but also to interrupt planning for further attacks and try to stop the international spread of the Islamic jihad behind the attacks. But the Democratic Party, with the honorable exception of a few individuals like Richard Gephardt and Joe Lieberman, turned its back on a war soon after authorizing it, and did so at a time when American troops were facing hostile enemy fire.
Although Senate Democrats on the intelligence oversight committee had been granted access to every piece of data available to the White House, they now accused President Bush of tricking them to secure their approval. In fact, their own about-face was entirely dictated by political considerations when a Sixties antiwar activist, Howard Dean, surged ahead in the Democratic primary polls and it appeared for a moment that Americans were on the side of retreat and capitulation.
Although regime change in Iraq had been official U.S. policy since Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, Democratic senators such as John Kerry who only months earlier had supported the war effort now launched demoralizing attacks on the American commander-in-chief and his troops in the field, stigmatizing it as "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." If the truth was the first casualty of their war against the Bush administration, the second casualty was the principle of bi-partisanship that had guided foreign policy debates throughout the Cold War, the principle that "politics stops at the water's edge." Now partisan politics trumped security.
The unrestrained attacks on the Iraq War as illegal and unjustified went largely unanswered by Republicans who failed to call the Democratic saboteurs of the nation's war effort to account or to decry the risk their cynical attacks posed to American servicemen and women on the battlefield. As Greenfield demonstrates, the Democrats' partisanship had consequences not only in Iraq but elsewhere in the region: the paralysis that resulted from their "anti-war" campaign led straight to the destruction of Lebanon and the installation of a terrorist army, Hezbollah, there as a regime within a regime. And it emboldened an overtly Islamofascist regime in Iran not only to supply the IEDs responsible for most of our troop fatalities in Iraq but also to proceed with a nuclear program aimed directly at Israel and the West.
The Great Betrayal shows that Barack Obama's abandonment of Iraq is a betrayal of all the Americans and Iraqis who gave their lives to establish freedom in that country. And the result of his policies in Afghanistan has been as disastrous. While the President presented his rationale for pursuing war there as the pursuit of al-Qaeda, after abandoning his "surge" (which resulted in two thirds of all America's Afghan casualties there and the resurgence of the Taliban allies of al-Qaeda), he blithely prepared for withdrawal as if national objectives had been met.

"Losing our Sons": Documentary looks at domestic Islamic radicalization and jihadization
 Charles Jacobs at Americans for Peace and Tolerance announced today the release of a trailer for their upcoming documentary, "Losing Our Sons", featuring Melvin Bledsoe - father of domestic terrorist Carlos Bledsoe aka Abdulhakim Mohamed who gunned down US Army recruiter Pvt. William Long at an Army-Navy recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in June 2009. Melvin Bledsoe testified at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month.
The upcoming documentary discusses how Bledsoe was radicalized by the Muslim Student Association in Tennessee and sent to terrorist training in Yemen with the written recommendation of the imam of a Nashville mosque. It also discusses how the agents of radicalization in the Nashville Muslim community have been aided by collaborators in the establishment media, politics and the so-called "interfaith" community.

THERE IS A GROWING awareness among Americans that religious freedom in our country has come under sustained pressures. In the public square where freedom of religion meets public policy, it becomes clearer all the time that there is a high price to be paid for being true to one's conscience. This is no tale of Chicken Little-although a chain of chicken sandwich restaurants based in Atlanta is part of the story. Let me give you a few examples.
In our universities, those citadels of toleration, we find that toleration can be sharply limited. At the Hastings College of Law in San Francisco, the student chapter of the Christian Legal Society was denied any status on the campus because it would not abandon its requirement that members commit themselves to traditional Christian norms regarding sexual morality. The U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 ruling in 2010, held that the student group's rights were not violated by a "take all comers" policy. Following this lead, Vanderbilt University has rewritten its student organizations policy and effectively chased every traditionally Christian student group off campus, denying them regular access to campus facilities. And at the University of Illinois, an adjunct professor of religion, hired to teach a course on Catholicism, was let go because a student complained about his patient explanation of the Catholic Church's natural law teachings on human sexuality. (He was later restored to his teaching duties, but at the expense of the Newman Center, not on the state payroll.)

ONCE UPON A TIME, hardly anyone dissented from the idea that, for better or worse, the United States of America was different from all other nations. This is not surprising, since the attributes that made it different were vividly evident from the day of its birth. Let me say a few words about three of them in particular.
First of all, unlike all other nations past or present, this one accepted as a self-evident truth that all men are created equal. What this meant was that its Founders aimed to create a society in which, for the first time in the history of the world, the individual's fate would be determined not by who his father was, but by his own freely chosen pursuit of his own ambitions. In other words, America was to be something new under the sun: a society in which hereditary status and class distinctions would be erased, leaving individuals free to act and to be judged on their merits alone. There remained, of course, the two atavistic contradictions of slavery and the position of women; but so intolerable did these contradictions ultimately prove that they had to be resolved-even if, as in the case of the former, it took the bloodiest war the nation has ever fought.
Secondly, in all other countries membership or citizenship was a matter of birth, of blood, of lineage, of rootedness in the soil. Thus, foreigners who were admitted for one reason or another could never become full-fledged members of the society. But America was the incarnation of an idea, and therefore no such factors came into play. To become a full-fledged American, it was only necessary to pledge allegiance to the new Republic and to the principles for which it stood.
Thirdly, in all other nations, the rights, if any, enjoyed by their citizens were conferred by human agencies: kings and princes and occasionally parliaments. As such, these rights amounted to privileges that could be revoked at will by the same human agencies. In America, by contrast, the citizen's rights were declared from the beginning to have come from God and to be "inalienable"-that is, immune to legitimate revocation.

How Escalating Education Spending Is Killing Crucial Reform

President Obama has called for massive new education spending, suggesting that, absent an enormous infusion of more tax dollars, the nation's public schools will lose teachers and programs, damaging American education. This claim ignores the fact that over the past 40 years, both teaching and non-teaching positions in public schools have increased at far greater rates than student enrollment.
Another federal education bailout will act as a disincentive for state and local leaders to implement necessary reforms-and keeps taxpayers on the hook for funding policies of dubious value.

Almost as heartbreaking as burning books, a move by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education will rank among those incomprehensible moments in human history when we seem to be handicapping ourselves for no reason. Lifelong learners, students wanting supplemental courses, professionals, and Americans across the country interested in enrolling in physics, history, music, and a variety of other courses can do so for free from the open-source provider Coursera. But Minnesota has just informed its residents that they are now prohibited by law from furthering their own education for free through courses offered on Coursera by the likes of Stanford, Duke, Princeton, and more than a dozen other universities.

2. Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin
The whole time during the last Presidential debate, Mitt Romney looked like the incumbent and Barack Obama looked like a challenger trying to keep it together. More specifically, Barack Obama, when he made eye contact, looked like he was seeing and invisible hand writing "Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin" on the wall behind Bob Schieffer. This was a man who knows the gig is almost up.
Throughout the debate, Mitt Romney smiled, agreed, and avoided fights. Barack Obama did everything he could to get into fights. That's not what incumbents in a comfortable lead do.
The biggest issue to come out of this debate, though, was Barack Obama totally claiming that sequestration was Congress's fault - he signed it into law - and that it would not happen, despite it being the law of the land.
Within mere moments after the conclusion of the debate, the Obama camp already walked it back. It is never good for the President of the United States when, immediately upon conclusion of a must win debate, his campaign team is already walking back his bold statements. His jokes about sequestration will haunt him in military towns and his dismissiveness of the American Navy will hurt him in key swing states. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
3. Barack Obama: Corporatist Collectivist
Barack Obama is not a socialist. It's not surprising that people call him one: to the typical voter, "socialist" is often just shorthand for the next step leftward on the political spectrum from being an ordinary liberal, and people need a vocabulary to express their sense that they see in Obama a further left turn from Mondale-Dukakis-Kerry liberalism. To this day, the Democrats' caucus in the Senate includes one self-described socialist, but the rest of the party flees the description. The fact that Obama's political supporters react with horror when you call him a socialist is, at least, a concession that everyone - even actual socialists - agrees that the label is political poison with most American voters.
Nor is the label especially unfair: Obama's own biography is full of close associations and alliances with actual socialists and even Communists (his acknowledged teen mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a card-carrying member of the Communist Party USA). In 1996, when he was first elected to public office, he signed an agreement to run on a left-wing third party's ticket and platform to signal to voters that the Democrats weren't far left enough for him. In 2000, the newsletter of an organization of actual socialists - the Chicago Democratic Socialists of America - wrote: "When Obama participated in a 1996 UofC YDS Townhall Meeting on Economic Insecurity, much of what he had to say was well within the mainstream of European social democracy." . . . please click here for the rest of the post →

The son of a Republican state senator in Wisconsin was brutally attacked and beaten on Friday morning by two thugs attempting to steal his Romney-Ryan yard sign in Whitewater, Wisconsin. In a statement released on Monday, Sen. Neal Kedzie described his son's ordeal in horrific terms. COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY: 15 DAYS TO THE 2012 ELECTIONS -- 69 DAYS TO TAXMAGEDDON
Tune In Tonight
The third and final presidential debate will take place tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET. This debate, hosted by Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, will focus on foreign policy and will be moderated by CBS's Bob Schieffer.
We can expect to hear a lot tonight about China and Benghazi. We should hear a lot about radical Islam too. Even though the debate is on foreign policy, Governor Romney should as often as possible make the connection between our military strength and our economic strength. Without a strong economy, we cannot maintain a strong military.
When Obama pursues policies that cause the economy to stagnate, he is not only crushing the dreams of millions of Americans, but he is putting our families at greater risk. The Pentagon has become a top target for massive cuts driven by Obama's trillion-dollar deficits. The deficit is a serious threat to national security.
Mitt Has Momentum
The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll has Mitt Romney and Barack Obama tied at 47% among likely voters. That is a significant development. The NBC/Journal poll has consistently shown Obama leading and often by fairly large margins. A month ago, he was down five points.
Consider too the Gallup poll. At the beginning of October, Gallup reported that the race was tied, with Romney and Obama each earning 48%. Democrats complained that Gallup's sampling method undercounted minorities and Democrat voters, and David Alexrod threatened the respected polling firm. So Gallup tweaked its sampling to accommodate complaints from the left. Guess what? Romney is now leading 52% to 45% among likely voters!
Clearly, there has been movement in Governor Romney's direction. But the race is far from over.
People in the Romney campaign say they have the "Big Mo" and that there are states in play now that were not before. Insiders in the Obama campaign counter that little has changed. They can lose Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. Their strategy is to hold on to Ohio and Wisconsin at all costs, plus win either Iowa or Nevada. If they do that and there are no other surprises on Election Night, Obama still prevails.
The bottom line: This is still anybody's race. It looks a lot better than it did two weeks ago, but there are still two weeks left.
October Surprise?
The New York Times reported this weekend that U.S. and Iranian officials had agreed "for the first time to one-on-one negotiations over Iran's nuclear program." Is this the October surprise we have heard so much about lately? I don't think so, but you can see how it would play to Obama's favor right before a debate on foreign policy. But there are several points that must be addressed.
There has been a lot of inaccurate reporting surrounding this story. Negotiations have been going on with Iran ever since the 1979 revolution. This is not a breakthrough. And the idea that this would be an argument in favor of keeping Obama is ludicrous.
Should the U.S. decide it is worth listening to the Iranians stall again, which is exactly what they do every time there are "talks," who do you want at the table? The guy who has spent four years bowing to radical Islam, or a guy who believes America is Western Civilization's last, best hope?
Moreover, there are reports from Iranian government officials that Obama sent a message to the Islamic regime through the Swiss ambassador conceding "Iran's nuclear rights." Just another reason you don't want Obama negotiating with our enemies!
If there is some kind of anti-Romney effort, it's more likely to involve Gloria Allred, who famously shows up at news conferences to sabotage Republicans. Breitbart.com reports that Allred may be working on an "October surprise" that proves Mitt Romney is -- horror of horrors! -- pro-life. If that's true, it shows just how desperate the Obama campaign is that it is still trying to use abortion as a wedge issue to keep the gender gap alive.

Supremacist ideologies-Communism, fascism, Nazism, radical Islam-succeed when they are appeased. Did you notice how, the more the Obama administration apologized for a YouTube video, the more rioting occurred in front of U.S. embassies across the world?
On the other hand, the policies and pronouncements of President Reagan led to the crumbling of the Iron Curtain. Calling the Soviet Union an "evil empire" brought rebukes from many government, media and academic elites-but history proved Reagan right.
Confronting evil, confronting the supremacist ideology, was the only way to defeat it.

Not especially large or strong, the schoolyard bully-generally a prickly, nasty fellow-picks on two groups: 1) those who are obviously weaker than him and 2) those who, while larger or stronger than him, willingly give in to him-willingly appease. Bullying the first group, the weak, is an easy matter for the bully. As for the second group, whose capacities and responses are unclear, these he must first determine through a few bully trial-runs-to see whether they will fight back, or whether they will give in. He begins small-a shove and harsh word here and there-and takes it from there, always seeing how far he can go.

Jordan disrupts major al-Qaeda terrorist plot

Authorities in Jordan have disrupted a major terrorist plot by al-Qaeda-linked operatives to launch near-simultaneous attacks on multiple civilian and government targets, reportedly including the U.S. Embassy in the capital, Amman, Western and Middle Eastern officials said Sunday.
The Jordanian government issued a statement describing the plot and saying that 11 people with connections to al-Qaeda's affiliate in Iraq have been arrested.

Obama Scandal Bigger than Watergate?
 House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) sent a ten page letter on Friday to Barack Obama on Friday in which he asked for clarification of the White House's role in the Benghazi attacks.
The letter to Obama was accompanied by the release of more than 100 pages that documented requests for more security at the embassy. "Americans ... deserve a complete explanation about your administration's decision to accelerate a normalized presence in Libya at what now appears to be at the cost of endangering lives," Issa wrote. "These critical foreign policy decisions are not made by low- or mid-level career officials - they are typically made through a structured and well-reasoned process that includes the National Security Council at the White House. "The ultimate responsibility rests with you as the president of the United States," he said. The letter met with outrage, not from Obama, but from Democrat Representative Elijah Cummings (D-MD). Cummings blasted Issa in a response declaring:

American drones were in the skies above the U.S. consulate in Benghazi as the deadly attack that killed ambassador Christopher Stevens unfolded, it has been revealed.
Defense department officials considered sending troops in to rescue the ambassador and staff, according to CBS News, but ultimately decided not to .
They would haven been able to watch the attack on-screen as it unfolded.
The revalations came a day after it emerged that U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens repeatedly pleaded with the State Department to ramp up his security team in Libya -- requests that the Pentagon ultimately denied -- in the weeks, days and hours leading up to the terrorist attack that killed him and three other Americans, newly released cables have revealed.
Stevens, who was killed in the 11 September attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, warned the State Department of a 'security vacuum' in Libya 'that is being exploited by independent actors' in one cable that described rapidly deteriorating security conditions.
'Islamic extremists are able to attack the Red Cross with impunity,' he wrote. 'What we have seen are not random crimes of opportunity but rather targeted discriminate attacks.'

Thousands of Syrian Nationals Apply for Temporary Protected Status
Washington DC | October 19, 2012 - As of October 13, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has received 2,614 applications for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from Syrian nationals in the U.S. On March 29, 2012 Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano approved the status for Syrian Nationals already residing within the U.S. In the registration period that lasted from March 29, 2012 to September 25, 2012, USCIS has so far granted 273, only denying five applicants.
On December 19, 2011, AAI sent a letter to President Obama asking for TPS to be granted to Syrians living in the U.S. Our effort was later joined by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), United for Free Syria (UFS) and the Syrian Emergency Task Force (SETF).
Then in a letter dated March 1, 2012 U.S. Senators Durbin (IL), Leahey (VT), Feinstein (CA), Menendez (NJ), Cardin (MD) and Casey (PA) offered their support to granting TPS to Syrian nationals at the time it was under review. The letter read in part:
"Syria clearly meets the standard for TPS as it is obviously too dangerous for Syrian nationals residing in the U.S. to return to Syria...Forcing Syrian nationals to return to Syria in the midst of ongoing violence would undermine U.S. leadership and would be inconsistent with America's traditional role as a safe haven for those fleeing repression."
DHS approved TPS for Syrian nationals on March 23, 2012.

The Jordanian tribe is now planning a huge rally against Israel, with whom it has a peace treaty. Other tribes have been invited to join the rally, posing a major and unprecedented challenge to the monarchy.

Walid Obeidat, Jordan's new ambassador to Israel, a member of one of Jordan's largest and most influential tribes, deserves an award for being one of the most courageous diplomats not only in his country, but in the entire Arab world.
His tribe has now "disowned" him because he agreed to serve as ambassador to Israel, which has a peace treaty with Jordan.
This is a particularly harsh punishment: it means that Obeidat would no longer enjoy the backing of his tribe.
Clans often "disown" one of their members when he or she is involved in an extremely serious crime or an act of treason.
It also means that he and his wife and children would be boycotted by the tribe for the rest of their lives.
Obeidat is courageous not only because he decided openly to challenge his tribe, but also for rejecting a $5 million bribe that was offered to him by the tribe in return for turning down the offer.

Friday's Fox News poll of Ohio shows Barack Obama leading 46/43 which is a 4 point improvement for Mitt Romney over Fox's last poll of a month ago. The good news for Obama stops after the headline. This leaves 11 points of "undecided" voters. History tells us 80% or 8.8 points will eventually go to the challenger giving Romney 51.8%
Fox reports Obama getting 89% of Democrats but Romney getting 85% of Republicans. This is a very curious finding given the 92% of Republican support for Romney found in the battleground Poll which also finds Obama with 88% of Democrat support nationally. Moreover just next door in Wisconsin Republicans are backing Romney at 92%. It should be noted that Rasmussen reported the national Party breakdown as 36.8% Republican, 34.2% Democrat and 29% Independent. A poll taken monthly by Rasmussen has received very little attention from the Obama campaigners in the mainstream media. It is the poll of Party Affiliation and it is published on the Rasmussen site going back to 2004. (3)
Why should this poll be taken AT LEAST as seriously as any polling result by any polling company in the US? Simple. Because the "...poll of party identification corresponds with the results of national elections." (1)
Look at the results in various election years since 2004 as they compare with Rasmussen's political party identification numbers. In 2004, George Bush narrowly won re-election in the Electoral College 286-251 after taking Ohio with its 20 electoral votes. The GOP also picked up 3 senate seats and 3 house seats. (2)
And the party affiliation numbers were also very close, favoring Democrats with an advantage of 1.5%.

Send the UN a Message!
October 24th is UN Day. This is a day when the United States is suppose to pause and consider our many blessings as a member of this international body. On this day, Governors and Mayors will issue pro-UN proclamations. There will be ceremonies to honor the UN. Let us all share a hug of unity with the rest of the world....
Or - let's tell them what we really think of this corrupt threat to our national sovereignty and individual liberty. "When E.F. Hutton talks, people listen," proclaimed a memorable advertising campaign.
When Billy Graham speaks, evangelical Christians listen with rapt attention. The 93-year-old's words are a gold standard among born-agains. And the Reverend Graham is doing a lot of talking these days. For the first time in his long and distinguished career, he's speaking publicly about politics.
In full-page ads that ran in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today late last week (others will follow), the renowned preacher asked Americans to "vote Biblical values this November 6," and "pray with me that America will remain one nation under God" - which would preclude one nation under Saul Alinsky's disciple.
YGraham left no room for doubt about how Bible-believers should be guided in casting their ballots: "I urge you to vote for those who protect the sanctity of life and the Biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman," and candidates who "support the nation of Israel."
Earlier in October, Mitt Romney visited Graham's home in the mountains of North Carolina. In a widely published statement, the preacher reportedly promised the governor: "I'll do all I can to help you."
Romney is pro-life; Obama is pro-choice. Romney is pro-natural marriage; Obama is pro-unnatural marriage. Romney likes Israel. Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton calls our 44th president "the most anti-Israel president in the history of the state, without any question."
For America to "remain one nation under God," America must first acknowledge God.
In the 2008 campaign, the future president compared Christian residents of Main Street America to gun-nuts, bigots and xenophobes. At this year's Democratic nominating convention, delegates booed putting God back in their party's platform.
Barack Obama has, at various times, said "Americans do not consider themselves a Christian nation," and "Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation."

A British national who donated $10 to the Obama campaign, despite laws prohibiting the acceptance of foreign contributions, told Breitbart News he is now receiving e-mails from the Obama campaign thanking him for signing up for "get out the vote" and phone banking events for which he never volunteered.
The New York Post on Sunday reported Chris Walker, who lives in England, made two $5 donations to the Obama campaign. Walker used his "actual street address in England but entered Arkansas as his state with the Schenectady, NY, ZIP code of 12345." Because of the Obama campaign's lax online security measures, which the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) has thoroughly detailed, those donations got through.

The British Empire may have made a mess of the Middle East but at least it knew what it wanted to do with it. That is more than can be said for our latest round of aimless fumblings in the region. Our latest project to flip Syria from the Shiite into the Sunni column might at best balance out the time we flipped Iraq from the Sunni into the Shiite column, but that just means we're moving territories back and forth between two groups that hate us equally. Our accidental empire was built on 20th century rhetoric that depicted a world caught between the forces of freedom and tyranny. Naturally we were on the side of freedom. And we are still on the side of freedom, even if it's the freedom of Egyptian and Syrian Islamists to persecute Christians. Over the years our freedom crusade has worn thin and now we are left with the tawdry task of liberating the majority to persecute the minority. A majority that will thank us for it with more terrorist attacks. The idea that introducing free and open elections to the Muslim world will restructure its governments in alignment with our freedom agenda is naive. More naive than the British thinking that processing a few future Arab monarchs through Sandhurst and Oxford would accomplish the same thing. The British were at least following in the footsteps of the Romans, even if they forgot that what happened to the Romans was that a religion from one of the annoyingly combative parts of their empire overran them and displaced their native belief systems. Islam seems on track to do to Britain what Judaism and Christianity did to the Roman Empire. But the end result will likely be a lot less civilized.

Democrats do not have a great track record in the White House. The number of Democratic presidents who have won second terms is small and becomes much smaller with the second half of the 20th Century. Unlike Congressional shifts which reflect regional politics more than a national referendum, the Presidency is a referendum on the usages of the nearly unlimited power of its holder. The Democratic strategy has been to substitute iconography for competence and their iconic presidents have invariably been men of dubious character. FDR rode to power on the coattails of the Roosevelt name, after conducting a smear campaign against Teddy Roosevelt's son who would have been the natural candidate. Once in power, FDR assembled a grab-bag of bad ideas from European Socialists and Fascists and employed a small army of writers and artists as propagandists to lionize his programs. Marginally competent, Roosevelt the Second cultivated an aristocratic paternal air, surrounded himself with experts and programs to create public confidence. FDR did not fix the economy, but he did lead the country through World War II while preemptively losing World War III, which was enough to give him the iconic status that had made his presidency possible. The Roosevelt Administration, with an assist from Harry Truman, had largely created the Soviet Empire through its betrayal of Eastern Europe and the Republic of China. The Liberal camp had been thoroughly infiltrated by Communist agents and was full of sympathizers for the Soviet Union. Before WW2 the USSR had been a regional backwater power with a network of international agents at its beck and call. After WW2, Communists were on the verge of swallowing up Western Europe and had taken China.

The final difference in the 2000 election vote count in Florida between George Bush and Al Gore was 493 votes. Winning Florida's then 25 electoral votes gave George Bush 271 electoral votes or one more than the required 270 electoral votes to win the Electoral College and defeat Democratic candidate Al Gore, who received 266 electoral votes. Florida now has 29 electoral votes because of the state's population increase measured by the past census.
The 493 vote difference between Bush and Gore in 2000 breaks down to approximately 7 votes for each of Florida's 67 counties. The four hundred ninety three (493) vote difference is minuscule compared to the number of people who receive email alerts from Florida Family Association. That means your vote could be a deciding factor in who becomes our next president.
The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. The polls in Florida will be open from 7 am to 7 pm.

On Friday in Virginia, Chris Christie went after Barack Obama in epic fashion. Here is one of the high points:
You've been living inside 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. for the last four years. If you don't think you can change Washington from inside the White House let's give you the plane ticket back to Chicago you've earned. ... If he believes that, then what the hell is he doing asking for another four years?
Christie's attacks on Obama's leadership strike me as devastating. One of the reasons why independents are deserting Obama in droves, I believe, is that they have concluded he simply isn't a leader.

What If They Ran Banks Like Minnesota Elections?

Here in Minnesota, we have initiatives relating to voter ID and marriage on the ballot next month. The key organization supporting the voter ID amendment is ProtectMyVote.com. Protect My Vote has done some cute ads, illustrating how silly it is to oppose a requirement of photo identification for voting when we rely on it for practically everything else. This is the most recent TV ad, titled "What If Banks Operated Like MN Elections?"
I think the voter ID proposal will pass, but its proponents are being badly outspent by pro-voter fraud forces (i.e., the Democratic Party). If you can spare a few dollars, you could hardly do better than to donate to Protect My Vote. Especially if you don't live in Minnesota-don't let us inflict another Al Franken on you!

What I Don't Understand About the Polls

The latest Monmouth University poll came out this morning. It sampled 1,402 likely voters and has a margin of error of 2.6%. It doesn't contain any surprises. Like almost all current polls, it shows Mitt Romney in the lead, in this case by 48%-45%. It shows that almost all Republicans support Romney and almost all Democrats support Obama. It indicates that Paul Ryan is better respected than Joe Biden. It confirms that Obama suffers from a severe gender gap, losing men by 51%-40%. And, like many other polls, it indicates that Romney is absolutely clobbering Obama with independents, 52%-33%. Nineteen points!
What I don't understand is how Romney can be leading by only 3 if he carries independents by 19. If the voting population were 1/3 R, 1/3 D and 1/3, a 19 point lead among independents would give Romney a six-point margin overall. Monmouth says that they weighted their sample to equal 31% R, 34% I and 35% D. That may be in the ballpark, although I suspect that if anything, it is pessimistic for Republicans this year. I tried to do the math using Monmouth's turnout model, and I still came up with a 4.5 point lead for Romney, which probably tells you something about my arithmetic skills. Be that as it may, it seems clear that if Romney carries independents by anywhere near 19 points, he will win the election.
UPDATE: Reader Dana Van Roekel created this spread sheet, which shows how the partisan split used by the pollster does indeed generate a 2.75% lead for Romney. Van Roekel also, just for fun, ran the same numbers assuming a 1/3 R, 1/3 D, 1/3 I split and assuming the partisan ID numbers as they currently are being polled by Rasmussen. The latter calculations would give Romney leads of 5.99% and 8.81% respectively.
Our reader also reminds us that these are assumptions about partisan ID, and not necessarily turnout models. There is more enthusiasm among Republicans than Democrats (and, I am guessing, among Romney-leaning independents than Obama-leaning), which is an additional factor. The bottom line, I think, is that Obama is toast. But we wouldn't want to get cocky!

The Cuban Missile Crisis @50: A Reconsideration

Today is the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's nationally televised address informing the nation of the presence of Soviet missiles in Cuba, and his intention to make sure they were removed. The Kennedy glorification industry has pointed to this episode as Exhibit #1 of JFK's coolness under pressure, etc, etc, and the outcome has always been regarded as a great triumph of American statecraft.
To be sure, as Churchill once put it, "talk-talk is better than war-war," but the conventional "lesson" of the Cuban Missile Crisis could not be more incorrect. The view that that U.S. "won" the Cuban Missile Crisis has more lives than a cat. In fact, the Cuban episode was an American defeat, and it contributed powerfully to the thinking that led to the Vietnam quagmire.
In the conventional narrative, President Kennedy's guarantee that the U.S. would not invade Cuba was seen as a small political victory for the Soviet Union, but on balance the outcome was represented as a military humiliation for Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev. The Kennedy White House heavily spun the outcome that way, even to the point of concealing for a time that Kennedy had also agreed to remove American Jupiter missiles from NATO countries.
Kennedy and his circle approached the crisis as though it were a "misunderstanding" that needed to be worked out through "communication" based on the new strategic doctrine of "flexible response." In fact Khrushchev had calculated correctly that he could bluff the U.S. into giving a non-intervention guarantee for Cuba and a trade of Soviet missiles in Cuba for NATO missiles in Turkey. Kennedy and his grandmasters thought they had "won" because they had avoided war, even though the Soviets were never prepared to engage in warfare at the time. The Crisis ended with Cuba being secured not only as an intact political asset to the Soviet Union, but also potentially as a military asset for the future. Some "victory."
But the best and brightest of the Kennedy-Johnson administration were so self-deluded with their "success" that they decided to apply the same strategy of "flexible response" in Vietnam. Cyrus Vance, who was a deputy secretary of defense at the Pentagon in 1962 and who later served as Jimmy Carter's Secretary of State, confirmed this view: "We had seen the gradual application of force applied in the Cuban Missile Crisis and had seen a very successful result. We believed that, if this same gradual and restrained application of force were applied in South Vietnam, that one could expect the same result." Not!
If, as Kennedy thought, wars start by "miscalculation" (one of Kennedy's favorite books was Barbara Tuchman's The Guns of August, which argued that World War I began because of "miscalculation"), then the task of leadership consists chiefly of sending the appropriate rational "signals" to affect the other side's calculations about the chances of war. During the heydey of this thinking, John P. Roche recalled, "Discussions of military security began to sound more and more like seminars in game theory. There was a kind of antiseptic quality permeating the atmosphere; one often had the feeling he was attending a chess match. . . The atmosphere made those of us who come from the harsh training of poker decidedly uneasy."
In reviewing this whole period of liberal strategic thought, military historian Jeffrey Record wrote that Robert McNamara was "The most disastrous American public servant of the twentieth century," combining "a know-it-all arrogance with a capacity for monumental misjudgment and a dearth of moral courage worthy of Albert Speer."

Thoughts on playing to win tonight's foreign policy debate

I expect that tonight's presidential debate will draw many fewer viewers than the first two. After all, it must compete with Monday Night Football and Game 7 of the National League Championship Series.
On the other hand, the first two debates (for different reasons) served up compelling television experiences. Female viewers, at least, may by unwilling to resist the encore, sports viewing opportunities notwithstanding.
Foreign policy, tonight's topic, isn't foremost in the minds of most voters. But it does offer mostly new debating ground. And viewers were treated to a tantalizing preview during the Libya portion of the second debate.
I have argued that foreign policy provides a "growth opportunity" for Mitt Romney. Perhaps the best evidence that this is so consists of Team Obama's insistence - evident most starkly in the vice presidential debate - that there is no real difference between the candidates on the big issues like Iran, Syria, and Israel.
In an election where the incumbent is confident that he has an advantage on foreign policy, you would expect the president to draw sharp contrasts between his approach and that of his opponent - see Lyndon Johnson and Ronald Reagan. And you would expect it all the more in an election where the incumbent is viewed unfavorably with respect to his handling of the economy.
But so far, we haven't seen this from the Obama campaign. Instead, the pitch is that the policies of the two candidates are similar, but Obama has more experience and a steadier hand. That might have been a good pitch prior to Benghazi - these days, not so much.
To be sure, Romney hasn't provided much material for Obama to use in drawing sharp policy contrasts that will benefit the president. Romney did say, in 2007, that "it's not worth moving heaven and Earth and spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person," meaning bin Laden. But on the issues that are alive today, Romney has staked out his positions cautiously, so as not to paint himself to a war-weary nation as a war-monger.
Tonight, I expect Obama to tempt Romney into sounding more hawkish than previously. If, as I expect, Romney largely avoids the bait, Obama will then fall back to his "there's no substantive difference" line. He may well bolster this line by accusing Romney of talking tougher than he actually is, something that an experienced Commander-in Chief knows not to do ("Speak softly" and all that.)
If this is the tenor of the debate, it will probably end up a draw - not a bad result for Romney at this juncture. However, as I have argued, Romney can obtain a better result by systematically tying Obama's misguided foreign policy instincts - apologizing for America and favoring our enemies over our friends in the first instance - to the bad outcomes we've witnessed in Libya, Syria, Iran, Egypt, and Russia.
This approach will undercut Obama's narrative and place him on the defensive. And because Obama is rather thin-skinned, it may also bring out a side of the president he'd prefer to keep under wraps.
If Romney takes this approach, I won't regret missing that NLCS Game 7.

RETIRED GENERALS SUPPORTING ROMNEY
Presidential candidate Mitt Romney boosted his foreign policy credentials with the announcement of his Military Advisory Committee, which includes over 300 retired military generals and admirals who are supporting Romney for President.
The list includes two of the most important military commanders of the last decade, such as General Tommy Franks, who commanded our troops through the initial invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq as well as General James Conway, who helped oversee "the Surge" in Iraq and is one of the most popular Commandants the Marine Corps ever had.
"I'm proud to be supporting Mitt Romney in this critical election about our nation's future," said General Tommy Franks, USA (Ret.), Past Commander, U.S. Central Command. "Governor Romney is committed to restoring America's leadership role in the world. Instead of playing politics with our military, he will strengthen our defense posture by reversing the President's devastating defense cuts. The fact of the matter is that we cannot afford another four years of feckless foreign policy. We need level-headed leadership which will protect our interests and defend our values with clarity and without apology."
"I consider the unprecedented national debt amongst the five greatest threats to the security of our great nation," said General James Conway, USMC (Ret.), Past Commandant of the Marine Corps. "And yet, I see no indication the current administration, if re-elected, is intent on changing that trajectory. Clearly Defense should bear a portion of the burden in order to regain control of our debt, but the idea of massive military cuts -- at a time of increased global instability-should not even be in the cards. As I listen to Mitt Romney, I am convinced that he 'gets it'." |
This is extremely important news in our efforts to show why we must defeat Obama and elect a new President who would be a better leader for our troops and better equipped to meet the challenges to security and will not apologize for America's greatness.
In his 4 years as President, Obama has apologized or America, lowered our guard, and tried to 'reset' our relations in the Middle East by bowing to foreign leaders and refusing to identify terrorists and terrorist acts where they exist. The result has been that our enemies are bolder and more confident in attacking the United States, assured that President Obama will do little or nothing to stop them!

NEW LEADERSHIP NEEDED TO KEEP AMERICA SAFE
We have a lack of leadership in the white house but the American people do not realize how bad the situation is! We can fix this problem by producing a TV ad campaign in swing states to tell the people out there just how bad Obama is, and how much our security is diminished if he stays in office. Unfortunately, without your help, this ad will never see the light of day.
With the events of the last month in Egypt, Libya and continuing in Syria and Iran we could no longer sit idly by while our military and national security is eroded by our Commander-in-Chief. We can't sit on the sidelines while this administration apologizes to our enemies for our freedom of speech, refuses to stand with our ally Israel, and continues to "lead from behind."
We've set a goal of $15,000 to produce the ad slamming Obama's foreign policy. But we've only raised $6,512 - not enough to pay for it!
America has and always will lead from the front and should not apologize for our strength or influence in the world. Obama sought to "reset" relations with the Muslim world, with Russia, with China, but this stance has emboldened those who wish to see our influence recede and worried those allies that count on the USA to be a beacon of light and hope in a dark world.
With the help of great patriots like yourself, we can produce a TV ad that will make clear the difference between an America led by President Obama and his apologists or an America led by a leader that knows peace comes through strength.

Tonight's final presidential debate will focus solely on foreign policy. Moderator Bob Schieffer announced that the topics will be: "America's Role in the World," "Our Longest War-Afghanistan and Pakistan," "Red Lines-Israel and Iran," "The Changing Middle East and the New Face of Terrorism," and "The Rise of China and Tomorrow's World." - Over the last several years, the Chinese have become increasingly aggressive in pressing territorial claims against their neighbors, threatening to upend peace, security, and the free flow of commerce in the region. What policies will your Administration undertake in the first year to make clear to this new Chinese leadership that the U.S. will remain committed to its friends and treaty allies in the western Pacific?
- The U.S. is not the world's policeman, but it is a leader in world affairs. Can we maintain our influence and protect our vital national interests around the world (such as the "pivot to Asia" that the Administration has announced) if defense cuts continue? Do these cuts encourage adversaries and extremists (as in Libya) to test U.S. resolve?
- In the months since Osama bin Laden was killed, al-Qaeda franchises in Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and North Africa have grown stronger and continue to pose a significant threat to Americans. Yet the U.S. appears to be stuck in a "whack-a-mole" tape loop. How should U.S. counterterrorism policy be changed to effectively counter this evolving threat?
- Although sanctions have been ratcheted up against Iran, a new study by the Congressional Research Service has concluded that sanctions have not succeeded in accomplishing their principal objective "to compel Iran to verifiably confine its nuclear program to purely peaceful uses." Tehran has accelerated its enrichment of uranium and is closer than ever to a nuclear weapon. Can sanctions alone stop these trends? What else should the U.S. do to end Iran's nuclear defiance?

DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz described the Medicare reforms proposed by GOP Vice-Presidential nominee and House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) as "literally a death trap for seniors." White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters that Ryan's reforms would "change Medicare as we know it."
But it was Obamacare that already changed Medicare as we know it, transforming it literally into a death trap for seniors. Obamacare cut Medicare by $716 billion over the next 10 years alone, mostly by slashing Medicare payments to doctors and hospitals. And that is just a down-payment on what is to come.
