YALE HOCKEY ACADEMY WINS PRESTIGIOUS TOURNEYyale

The Chicago World Bauer Invite tournament is the biggest of its kind on the planet, and draws hockey teams from all over North America.  The second year Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) Yale Hockey Academy Lions traveled to Chicago to compete in the tournament for the first time.

The Lions didn't drop a single game on their way to the tournament finals, where they faced the second-ranked US team, Honeybaked. Yale pulled out an amazing 4 - 3 victory! What an accomplishment for this "dark horse" team from Canada!

BC Hockey League prospects Tak Anholt (Penticton Vees) and Kohen Olischefski (Chilliwack Chiefs) and Luke Warkentin and Dryden Michaud netted the goals in the final for Yale.

Way to go guys!

KELOWNA CHIEFS LAY WREATH ON REMEMBRANCE DAYwreath

Hundreds of people braved the cold temperatures and attended Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Lions Park Cenotaph in Kelowna, BC, including the Kelowna Chiefs of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.

The entire team once again took part in the parade to the cenotaph while captain Anthony Ruggiero and assistant captain Chase Astorino laid a wreath to honour those who fought for our country's freedom.

This was the fifth straight year that the Chiefs have participated in Remembrance Day Ceremony. Following the event, players handed out game tickets to veterans and members of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans of Unite 376.

The Kelowna Chiefs Hockey Club was extremely proud and honoured to be able to take part in the ceremony.

SHAYNE SUTTON GETS EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIMEshayne

Shayne Sutton, from the 100 Mile Atom Development Wranglers, lived out every young hockey players dream; she joined the Vancouver Canucks starting line up for a lap and stood on the blue line for the National anthem at the game on November 21, 2014.

"This was the greatest experience so far in my life," said Shayne.  "I was so nervous at the thought of falling in front of 18,000 people, that I actually felt sick to my stomach. I was still so nervous when I was on the ice with them, but all of that went away!"

Sutton was selected among 1,400 applicants for the "Every Kids Dream" contest. In her submission she said "I love feeling the wind in my face when I skate. It is my dream to play for the Canadian women's team one day."  We sure hope you get that chance Shayne!

There were nothing but smiles on the faces on the Kelowna Chiefs as the team was live with Ron MacLean at the Rogers Hometown Hockey broadcast on Sunday, November 16, 2014. Kelowna was one of the stops on the Canada-wide tour which descends on communities, showcasing the game we all love to watch and play.

During his sign-off in the crowd, the Kelowna Chiefs were invited to be with MacLean where he did a special shout-out to the team and then posed for photos with the players and of course the hundreds of people who took in the live broadcast.

Millions of people around the world took in that broadcast.

From the Kelowna Chiefs: Thank you for the opportunity Hometown Hockey Tour and Ron MacLean. What a day!
