A message from the Chairwoman...

Tina R. Hill

County Board

Chairwoman

Dear McHenry County Resident:

The McHenry County Historic Preservation Commission is looking for nominations for the Excellence in Building Preservation Award.

If you have completed a renovation project, large or small, on your older home in the last two years that is in keeping with the building's historic character, submit a nomination. The Commission will also consider sympathetically renovated commercial buildings.

The Commission is in search of projects that have architectural merit and/or historical interest that are sensitive to the building's architectural integrity. Only the exterior of the building will be judged. Click here to learn more about the Excellence in Building Preservation Award.

Sincerely,

Tina R. Hill, Chairwoman

McHenry County Board

McHenry County Mental Health Board Update

The McHenry County Mental Health Board is pleased to share a number of new and exciting developments.  On February 21 and 22 the Board of Directors met and held a Strategic Planning Session.  Aside from the review of internal strengths/weaknesses, there was also the discussion of external opportunities and threats.  Out of these discussions the board determined at least four short-term goals: Board Direction, Executive Director search, allocation of funds specific for Developmental Disability and Substance Abuse, and use of the Mental Health Board Building.  For the long-term, the board is looking for options to the psychiatric shortage in McHenry County, review of current application/contract expectations and methods of allocations, and a more integral understanding of the Affordable Care Act and Waiver 1115 and how that will affect our agencies and the Mental Health Board moving forward.
