Dear McHenry County Resident:
On November 8, 2013 the Illinois Tollway opened the new full access, all-electronic interchange at Illinois Route 47 on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) in Huntley. This project is a text book example of government working together to get things accomplished with the Village of Huntley, Kane County and the Illinois Department of Transportation who, together with the County's Division of Transportation, had the foresight to work together on a project of this scale for the benefit of not just our local residents, but for the entire region.
This $59 million project ($2 million under budget) has been a long time coming and will be a new asset for this corridor and the businesses that operate along it. According to a study commissioned by the Village of Huntley, the project created or sustained as many as 390 construction jobs and will create as many as 12,000 permanent jobs along this corridor by 2030. This will become an important "economic backbone" for our collective communities and the region. We are reaffirming the lessons of our region which is to provide a good transportation infrastructure and economic development will follow.
I am excited for the future and for the future jobs and prosperity this much needed capital improvement will bring. We all look forward to the growth, investments and economic vitality our inter-government collaboration will generate.
Sincerely,
Tina R. Hill
