Charles J. Miller Road

The Charles J. Miller Road project has been split into two phases. Phase 1 is from roughly a 1/4 mile east of Green Street to River Road. This coming winter, the new bridge that will carry the new westbound lanes will be built. The existing bridge will be used for the eastbound lanes.

The last of the in-stream substructure work is being completed the second week of April. The setting of structural steel is scheduled to start April 22 and should take about two weeks. The Fox Waterway Agency will be creating a no-wake zone and marking the open channel for the boating season, and the IDNR River Police will be stopping river traffic as needed to set the structural steel. Approximately 140 feet of the river in the center span will remain open to traffic throughout construction.

Walkup Road

The Walkup Road project is 80% complete and work has resumed but is weather dependent. The project, originally scheduled for completion in 2012, was delayed by AT&T. Project completion is now scheduled for spring 2013. Remaining is a small amount of pavement construction, traffic signals, final paving and landscaping.
