Chris Stuba, former LD for ZZ Top (currently freelancing as an LD) was once calling followspots at a show. One of the followspots was brighter than the other, and it was too late to adjust them. But he wanted the stronger of the two on the lead singer, so he asked the two followspot ops to change positions. Out of the corner of his eye, he just happened to notice each of them get up and walk over to the other followspot. That wasn't what he had in mind.

Larry Grenzicki wrote: "I was watching a video that had some rehearsal footage in it. At the end of the song the director called for an 'umbrella fade.' The entire stage went to black except for a special on the star. After the stage had gone out except for the special, then the director called the blackout. Is this a new term I hadn't heard of or is that call unique to that director? It looked good."
