Oakley Pauses to Remember America's Fallen Heroes
In its sixth year, Oakley Council members, dignitaries and over three hundred community members joined together this past Saturday, May 27th to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers of the United States Armed Forces.

The program commenced with the presentation of colors and national anthem performed by the American Legion 161 and Freedom High School Choir. True to the Memorial Day tradition, the program continued with O'Hara Park Middle School students decorating a wreath with 6 votives, each in respect of the lives lost in the six major U.S. wars and conflicts that have claimed American lives.

After prayer and recognition of dignitaries, Nathan Johnson, USMC Veteran, gave a moving Memorial Day address honoring those fallen and those left behind.

Are You a Home Based Business? Provide Input Regarding a Proposed Entrepreneur Incubator
The City of Oakley understands the importance of the small business community. The growth of Oakley's small businesses is vital to future local jobs, goods, and services. Almost half of Oakley's small businesses are home-based. As these home-based businesses grow, there can be a need to find suitable office space outside of the home.

The City of Oakley owns the building located at 3330 Main Street, across the street from City Hall. The City is looking to build a small business incubator, potentially known as the Oakley Entrepreneur Center, in this space. The center would be located in the second floor of the building, which is approximately 2,400 square feet. The Entrepreneur Center would be built to serve the needs of Oakley's small business community.
