City Hall has had a few visits lately from local school children who are interested in learning about city government and the inner workings of our police department.
Last Wednesday, the students of A Children's Place Preschool visited City Hall. The kids, all wearing paper plate police caps they had made, explored the City Council Chambers and learned where "City Rules" are made. Sergeant Roberts took them on a tour of Oakley Police Department. "Why do we not touch guns?" he asked. "Because they are poisonous!" replied a very wise little boy.
A group of students from Oakley Union Elementary School District ESL Class also visited City Hall last Thursday. Lots of great questions were asked and much interest in how they can make a difference in their community. If you have a group that would like to take a tour of City hall and Oakley Police Department please contact Christina Connor at connor@ci.oakley.ca.us.
