Main Street Improvement Project Groundbreaking
This past Tuesday, groundbreaking for the  Main Street Improvement Project took place. Those present included Oakley City Council, City Staff, the Design Team and construction crew. The improvements to Main Street will include new curb, gutter, stamped and colored sidewalk, decorative street lighting, median islands, landscaping, and new site furnishings.  This project will complement the existing Downtown improvements, encourage new business, will also enhance public safety with the addition of angled parking, sidewalks, and street lighting.

The construction of these improvements is a result of a comprehensive plan to develop and revitalize Oakley's Downtown and a significant portion is funded by a federal grant. This project will provide a major enhancement to Downtown Oakley for years to come.

Public Workshop to Discuss Community Choice Energy Options for Oakley
Join us on Wednesday, April 5th at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to learn more about options the City Council is considering with regard to implementing a Community Choice Energy Program that would provide Oakley's energy consumers a choice for the source of their energy.

Community Choice Energy (CCE) is a program that enables local governments to aggregate electricity demand within their jurisdictions in order to procure electricity for their customers while maintaining the existing electricity provider, Pacific Gas & Electric Company, for customer billing, transmission and distribution services. The State of California passed legislation in 2002 (Assembly Bill 117) that permits local agencies to form CCE programs for their communities.

The City of Oakley City Council is currently exploring three options:  1) join MCE Clean Energy (https://www.mcecleanenergy.org/), 2) join East Bay Community Energy (http://www.ebce.org/), or 3) remain with PG&E.

City Staff, along with MCE Clean Energy and East Bay Community Energy representatives will be hosting a public
