Caltrans Bicycle Plan Survey
Caltrans wants your input! Take a moment to complete the Caltrans District 4 Bicycle Plan survey. Caltrans is developing a Bicycle Plan for the Bay Area district to improve bicycling on and across the State-owned transportation network. This plan builds on the California State Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan and complements regional and local planning efforts to help create a connected, comfortable, and safer bicycle network for the Bay Area.

This survey is one of your opportunities to help shape the bicycle network in our local community and the Bay Area region. Caltrans would like to hear from as many residents as possible. The survey is available in English and Spanish. Visit the Caltrans website to learn more and to sign up for updates.
Playground Safety Inspection Program Helps Keep
Children Safe
Park and Recreation professionals take pride in providing safe and accessible play facilities for families and children to enjoy. Perhaps, the most popular play apparatus for children is the playground equipment found in local parks.

For the City of Oakley Parks and Landscape Division, essuring safe equipment and a safe environment for children to play is a top priority. To that end, all City of Oakley playground equipment receives regular maintenance and frequent inspection to ensure equipment complies with American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM) standards and no risk of injury is present.

Citizen Committee Evaluates Community Choice Aggregation Options for Oakley
Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) is a program that enables local governments to aggregate electricity demand within their jurisdictions in order to procure electricity for its customers while maintaining the existing electricity provider, Pacific Gas & Electric Company, for customer billing, transmission and distribution services. The State of California passed legislation in 2002 (Assembly Bill 117) that permits local agencies to form CCA programs for their communities.  The City Council has appointed a six member Community Choice Energy Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee to analyze what CCA could mean for Oakley and to provide a formal recommendation at a March 14, 2017 City Council Work Session.

The Committee met on February 15, 2017 and will hold a second public meeting on March 9, 2017.  The Agenda for the meeting will be available through this link:  http://www.ci.oakley.ca.us/departments/planning-zoning/community-choice-energy-ad-hoc-advisory-committee/.  The City has also prepared a Community Choice Aggregation website accessed through this link:  http://www.ci.oakley.ca.us/community-choice-aggregation/.  This webpage has several resources including a Frequently Asked Questions area, links to MCE Clean Energy and East Bay Community Energy as well as past Staff Reports presented to the City Council.
