Meeting To Be Held Regarding Oakley's New Dog Park 
The City of Oakley has received grant funding which will pay for a substantial amount of the cost of new dog park! The park will be located at the Nunn-Wilson Park (Laurel Road and Brown Road). 


While preliminary drawings were shared with residents at a past community meeting, those have since been refined. Join us on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to see the latest architect's renderings and discuss this project further. 
New CALED Regional Ambassador, Dwayne Dalman 
Dwayne Dalman, the Economic Development Manager for the City of Oakley, was recently selected to serve as a CALED Regional Ambassador. The California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED) is the premier statewide professional economic development organization dedicated to advancing its members' ability to achieve excellence in delivering economic development services to their communities and business clients. CALED's membership consists of public and private organizations and individuals involved in economic development: the business of creating and retaining jobs.



As one of three 2017 CALED Ambassadors, Dwayne will work with CALED on providing local training and networking opportunities for economic developers in CAlifornia. Specifically, Dwayne will work with his peers and other regional economic development stakeholders to tailor CALED training to meet regional needs. "CALED's regional training will allow Oakley to collaborate with others in our area and leverage our individual activities to make a greater regional difference."

Oakley Youth Advisory Scholarship  
The Oakley Youth Advisory Council strives to provide enriching experiences for the youth and to develop a community of young, contributing citizens. This year the OYAC is proud to offer its first scholarship ever. Two high school seniors will be selected to receive a $500 scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded to students who meet the scholarship requirements and complete the scholarship application . This scholarship is made possible by a donation of Assemblymember Frazier. The deadline for submission is 5:00 p.m. on March 31st, 2017.
New Recreation Classes Starting!   
The Oakley 2017 Winter/Spring Recreation Guide is out and lots of great classes are being offered. Check out these great classes starting next week: 


Advanced Bead Weaving
Adults
2/16-3/9, Thursdays from 6:30pm-8:30pm
Fee: $50 Residents $60 Non-Residents
 
This is a class for those adults with prior beading experience that are looking for a challenge!  Each four week session will focus on specific projects using smaller (seed) beads and intricate patterns. Upcoming session project will be Beaded Heart Pendants (2/16 - 3/9). 
 
Ronin Dragon Karate
Ages 4-9, 10 and Up
2/28-4/6, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm - 7pm, 7pm- 8pm
Fee: $70 Residents $80 Non-Residents
Students will learn karate movements, skills, and techniques as they develop discipline and respect for one's self and others.  Participants will have fun learning techniques and sparring in a safe environment.  Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a total of 12 instructional hours per session.  All testing fees are payable to the instructor prior to the test.

Some of the duties will range from general landscape maintenance work, assisting in maintaining parks and open space areas city wide, using a variety of tools and landscape equipment, performing maintenance and cleaning of water fountains and other park and building structures. 
  
 Recreation Leader: Open until filled
Some of the duties will range from leading participants in arts and crafts, sports, games, homework tutorials, and recreational activities, answering questions from the public, helping to plan and coordinate events, assisting with set up, as well as serving as a role model. Among the primary requirements are that you be 18 years of age or older, have a driver's license, be available to work nights and evenings and can lift 50 pounds or more.
 
Facilities Attendant: Open until filled
The Facilities Attendant is responsible for assisting with the daily duties associated with community recreation programs, facility supervision, special events and City property rentals. This position consists of facilitating rentals, providing assistance with front desk coverage as needed, distributing promotional material and working with the public. Under the direction of the Recreation Manager, the Facilities Attendant will be required to enforce Park and Recreation rules and regulations in order to ensure a safe environment to all patrons seeking to utilize City facilities.
 
Police Officer Lateral: Open until filled
Under general supervision of a Police Sergeant or other supervisory/management staff, the Police Officer performs a variety of duties related to the protection of public health, safety, and welfare and the enforcement of applicable federal, state, and local laws; provides traffic enforcement and control; and carries out special assignments in a particular phase of police work.

Monday-Thursday 8am-6pm and Fridays from 8am-5pm
City Hall is closed the 1st & 3rd Friday of the month
