City Council Reorganization
|
The Oakley City Council reorganized at its meeting held Tuesday, December 13. Kevin Romick was recognized for his 2016 term as Mayor. Councilmember Vanessa Perry was also recognized for her term of office, having served on the City Council since January 2015. Sue Higgins and Randy Pope were selected as Mayor and Vice Mayor for 2017. The top three City Council candidates in the November 8, 2016 election, Doug Hardcastle, Kevin Romick and Claire Alaura, were sworn into office.

This past Tuesday, the Oakley City Council recognized 23 graduates of the 2016 Citizens' Leadership Academy.
The program is designed to provide residents an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the City operations and processes. The sessions presented by City Staff addressed how City funds are allocated, decisions made, current challenges, future plans and much more. Topics covered ranged from Community Development, Development Services, Public Safety and other City services.

City Council Meeting Debrief

At the Tuesday, December 13th Meeting of the City Council/City Council Acting as Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting the Council:
- Adopted an Urgency Ordinance adopting the new uniform building codes (building, electrical, plumbing etc.) that were updated by the California Building Standards Commission
- Accepted the annexation of four single-family lots and one remainder single-family lot located at 1289 Laurel Road into the CFD No. 2015-2 augmenting these properties financial impact on the City's park, streetlighting, landscape and stormwater service budgets
- Accepted the annexation of Subdivision No. 8985 (Quicksilver), which consists of eleven single-family parcels located on the north side of West Cypress Road and west of Lois Lane into CFD No. 2015-2 augmenting these properties financial impact on the City's park, streetlighting, landscape and stormwater service budgets

Santa made a stop in Oakley this past Saturday to sit down to breakfast with several lucky families. The annual "Breakfast with Santa" sold out quickly as children prepared their lists for Old Saint Nick. More than 20 families attended and enjoyed a continental breakfast, visited with Santa and took lots of family photos. His message to all was to have a "Happy Holiday Season" and a wonderful new year!

Winter/ Spring 2017 Recreation Guide

The Winter/Spring Recreation Guide will be mailed to your home in early January! The Recreation Guide will include information on some of your favorite classes including karate, Lego Camp and events including Rock the Chalk, Science Week and Taste of Oakley.

The City of Oakley is implementing a Holiday Closure for non-public safety City Services. Oakley City Hall Offices will be closed beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 through Friday, January 6, 2017. Normal business hours will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017.
In an effort to ensure public that safety is not impacted, sworn personnel in the Police Department will continue to serve the public.
Additionally, the Building Division will be providing limited Inspection Services on: Wednesday, December 28th, Thursday, December 29th, Wednesday, January 4th, and Thursday, January 5th. Please email all inspection requests to: sanders@ci.oakley.ca.us and martin@ci.oakley.ca.us. The Code Enforcement Department will be providing service calls concerning public health and safety issues on an as-needed basis.
