Veterans Day Observance Ceremony Today!
|

The City of Oakley will hold its 5th Annual Veterans Day Observance Ceremony today Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Civic Center Park, located at3231 Main Street beginning at 11:00 a.m. Oakley's program will include the Presentation of Colors, student essays, rifle salute and taps.
This year's keynote speaker will be the Commander of the Veterans of Oakley, Randal Smith. He is the founder of the Veterans of Oakley.
Bring your worn flags for drop off. The Veterans of Oakley will be accepting flags from the community that will be retired the next day (Saturday the 12th) at the Red Man Pocahontas Hall located at 1403 Main Street in Oakley. All are welcome to observe the flag retirement ceremony which will begin at 1:00 p.m.

A General Municipal Election was held November 8, 2016 in Oakley for the following offices: Three (3) Members of the City Council to be elected at-large for full, four-year terms. Congratulations to incumbents Doug Hardcastle and Kevin Romick for receiving the highest number of votes for two of the three open seats on the Oakley City Council. While initially, Alaura and Seger were within one vote of each other, the last results reported by the Contra Costa County Elections Division on Nov. 10th at 4:52 p.m. show Claire Alaura as the third highest vote getter. The County is indicating that one last update will be available by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15th.
With regard to Measure E, Oakley residents have voted down the Utility Users Tax that was to support services provided by the East Contra Costa Fire District.

Mulch Available On November 19th
|
Need some wood chips/mulch for your landscaping? Wood chips will be available for pick-up Saturday, November 19th from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the City Yard located at the corner of Neroly Road and Main Street (entrance on Neroly). Please be advised this will be the last mulch available until Spring.

At the Tuesday, November 8th Meeting of the City Council/City Council Acting as Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting the Council:
- Welcomed Reese Greeson lead the Pledge of Allegiance
- Postponed an update from Michael Dupray, Appointee to the Contra Costa Transportation Authority-Citizens Advisory Committee
- Adopted resolutions approving the Subdivision Improvement Agreement, Subdivision Annexation and Assessment Authorization Deferral Agreement and Parcel Map for Minor Subdivision MS 16-979 located on the southwest corner of Laurel Road and Empire Avenue
