Heart of Oakley Festival is TOMORROW  

The final countdown has started for the 4th Annual Heart of Oakley Festival which will be held tomorrow Saturday, September 17th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission and parking are free!
 
As in year's past there will be wine, beer, art, tasty treats, vendors, children's activities/jumpies, and live entertainment! YMWO Oakley is adding more, too! In addition to the multi-cultural booths and entertainment, this year attendees will be able to learn about their own ancestry/descendency by spending a few minutes at the Family Discovery booth. This booth is being organized by YMWO Ambassador volunteers in partnership with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Mulch Available Tomorrow  
Need some wood chips/mulch for your landscaping? Wood chips will be available for pick-up tomorrow Saturday, September 17th from  8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the City Yard located at the corner of Neroly Road and Main Street (entrance on Neroly).
Marsh Creek & Delta Clean Up - Volunteers Welcomed 
Join  your friends, neighbors and classmates for the Marsh Creek and Delta Clean Up tomorrow Saturday, September 17th from 9am to Noon. There is one location in Oakley at which you can help. 
 
On the day of the Clean Up, please wear sun protection, closed toe shoes, and appropriate clothing for the weather. If you have work gloves and a reusable bucket (instead of using garbage bags) bring those with you too!

It is now official. Oakley has one more park to enjoy. Catamaran Park is located at 2695 Manresa Shore Lane. Be sure to check it out. Thanks to those that joined us this afternoon to cut the ribbon.ay. 

Catamaran Park is located within the Summer Lakes Development at 2695 Manresa Shore Lane on .7 of an acre along the lake. Amenities include a small, covered picnic area, benches; a combined tot lot and playground for children ages 2 to 5 and 6 to 12 years old; and an open-space turf area. Flickr

At the Tuesday, September 13th Meeting of the City Council/City Council Acting as Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting the Council:
 
  • Had student Isabelle Gutierrez of Vintage Parkway Elementary School lead the Pledge of Allegiance
  • Presented Nancy Raniere, Meals on Wheels Program Specialist for Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services, with a Proclamation recognizing Sept. 19-25 as Falls Prevention Awareness
  • Issued a Proclamation Recognizing Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week in the City of Oakley

Group Picnic Area Created at Crockett Park  
The Oakley Parks and Landscape Division has built a group picnic area at Crockett Park to address neighborhood needs. Beginning October 1, 2016 individuals or groups can reserve and rent the group
picnic area. 
 
The new ADA-compliant group picnic area consists of six tables, seating for approximately 45 people, it is partially shaded, and has a small group barbeque.

If you are interested in renting the Crockett Park Group Picnic area, or any of the City's other group picnic areas,
please contact the Oakley Recreation Division at (925) 625-7044. You can also drop by the Recreation Division office during the week, located at City Hall, at 3231 Main Street, or visit their website click here.
