At the Tuesday, July 12th Meeting of the City Council/City Council Acting as Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting the Council:
- Presented the Citizen Library Committee members with a Proclamation recognizing their volunteerism
- Introduced the new Oakley Union Elementary School District Superintendent, Greg Hetrick
- Heard a presentation by Pittsburg Mayor, Ben Johnson regarding the Delta Protection Commission activities

Free Mulch Offered Tomorrow
|
Need some wood chips/mulch for your landscaping? Wood chips will be available for pick-up tomorrow Saturday, July 16th from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the City Yard located at the corner of Neroly Road and Main Street (entrance on Neroly).

Oakley to Hold General Municipal Election on November 8th for Election of Three Council Seats
|
On May 10, 2016, the Oakley City Council approved a General Municipal Election to be held on November 8, 2016 for the following offices: Three Members of the City Council to be elected at-large for full, four-year terms.
The Nomination Period for this election runs from July 18th, 2016 through August 12, 2016. If an incumbent whose term is expiring should not file by 5:00 p.m. on August 12, 2016, the nomination period will be extended until 6:00 p.m. on August 17, 2016 for non-incumbents only.

Brown Bag Lunch With the Mayor- Save the Date
|
Don't miss the opportunity to have lunch with the Mayor and learn about events and activities in Oakley that impact the business community and the City as a whole . The brown bag lunches with the Mayor are scheduled for the fourth Friday of every month at City Hall.
The next lunch is Friday, July 22nd from noon - 1:00 p.m. Come learn about proposed new parks and recreation facilities that could be developed.

Now Accepting Applications to Serve on the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District
|
The City of Oakley is seeking applications from Oakley residents who would like to serve as the Cityʹs representative on the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (ECCFPD) Board.
A seat on the Board is available with a term commencing on October 1, 2016 and expiring on September 30, 2018. (Be advised that the term may expire sooner if the Fire District moves to an elected Board). The appointee serves at the will and pleasure of the City Council.
Applications are available on the Cityʹs website and at City Hall, or may be requested via email at vreonis@ci.oakley.ca.us. Completed applications must be submitted prior to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1st, 2016. It is anticipated that an appointment will be considered by the Oakley City Council on August 9, 2016 during the City Council meeting schedule to begin at 6:30 p.m. at 3231 Main Street.

Invite Us to Your National Night Out Event

America's Night Out against crime is Tuesday, August 2nd. On August 2nd, neighborhoods across the country host meet and greets or neighborhood get-together events. These events are an opportunity to meet your neighbors and get to know them better. They are a fun way to strengthen our community and build relationships. Improved relationships are effective in combating crime and building a sense of community. If you are planning a National Night Out event, we would like to attend! Members of our Police department will swing by, say hello, and be available for questions. Please e-mail or call Ms. Marisa Aguilar at aguilar@ci.oakley.ca.us or 925-625-8854 with the contact information for your group and where your event will be held so we can arrange to be there and say hello!!
