Fireworks Are Illegal in the City of Oakley!
Summer has arrived and Fourth of July celebrations are just around the corner. Please be reminded that the use, possession, manufacture, and sale of fireworks is illegal in the both the City of Oakley and the County of Contra Costa. The dry conditions make unlawful fireworks activity an extreme fire hazard. Our local firefighters are stretched thin enough without the added burden of an unnecessary fire resulting from irresponsible behavior. In an effort to curb the use of illegal fireworks, the Oakley Police Department will have extra staff members on duty. Fireworks will be seized and citations will be issued to those found in possession of fireworks. Please help us avoid tragedy this year by setting an example to your friends, children, and family by not participating in illegal firework activity.

Street Sweeping Brochure Available Now
Street sweeping is an important component to ensure our roadways, parking lots, and street gutters are clear of trash and debris. More importantly, it keeps pollutants from entering our storm drain system and reduces the amount of harmful chemicals that pollute our rivers, streams, and the delta. A street sweeping map is available here, for you to determine when street sweeping is scheduled for your neighborhood. Please remember to move vehicles and other obstructions off the street on the scheduled street sweeping day.

Heart of Oakley Performers Wanted
The City of Oakley is now accepting applications form those interested in performing at the Heart of Oakley Festival. This year's event will take place on Saturday, September 17th.
In addition to performers, You, Me, We Oakley! also invites you to showcase your culture by participating as a cultural booth exhibitor. This entails organizing a cultural booth that represents a specific culture through art, activities, crafts, music etc. so that Festival attendees can "travel" to and learn more about a culture different from their own.
