Oakley Ranked One of California's Safest Cities
 
Oakley has made the list again! Oakley was ranked 39 in the Safewise 50 Safest Cities in California report. SafeWise, a home security system provider examined data from the most recent FBI Crime in the U.S. Report in addition to their own thorough research to develop the comprehensive list of the 50 safest cities in California with 10,000 residents or more. Click here for full article.

Oakley was the only east county city making the cut, however, other nearby cities included Clayton (14th), Moraga (8th), Danville (18th), San Ramon (17th), Orinda (15th).    
 
Oakley PD Raises Funds and Awareness for Special Olympics
The Special Olympics torch passed through town Wednesday morning. Check out photos of our Police Department as they accepted the torch from Brentwood PD and passed it off to Antioch PD on our flickr. The Law Enforcement Torch Run raises awareness and funds for Special Olympics athletes.

Cityhood Celebration is July 2nd! 
The 17th Annual Cityhood Celebration will be held on Saturday, July 2nd at the Freedom Soccer Field (1050 Neroly Road, Oakley). This event commemorates both the anniversary of Oakley incorporating as a City in 1999, as well as our nation's independence.   
 
The event starts at 6:00 p.m. with free admission. Guests may purchase a $5 wristband which allows them unlimited use of the inflatable games, activities, and glitter tattoos. Children ages 5 and under can request a free wristband. Two booths will be set up for the sale of wristbands. Check out the site map for the locations. Don't want to wait in line? You can pre-purchase your wristband at City Hall now through June 30th. 
 
Main Street Car Show-Save the Date
Join us on Saturday, July 23rd from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Plaza.
 
This show is open to all makes and models of American and Foreign cars and trucks. A maximum of 50 automobiles will be accepted so REGISTER EARLY!  Pre-registration is required at the City of Oakley, 3231 Main Street. The entry fee is $25 (includes dash plaque and goody bag). This event will take place, rain or shine and no refunds will be issued. Check-in is from 8:00-10:00 a.m. Judging will take place from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Awards will be handed out at approximately 1:30 p.m. There will also be live entertainment featuring "The Free Agents". A fun time for all!
