On June 7th, Oakley voters will be asked to weigh in regarding Measure K. The City of Oakley is asking voters if they would support a ballot measure that, if successful, in meeting the 2/3's threshold, would generate the funds necessary for the construction and operation of a new 20,000 square foot library and learning center space. Oakley Pauses to Remember America's Fallen Heroes
In its fifth year, Oakley Council members, dignitaries and over three hundred community members joined together this past Saturday, May 28th to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers of the United States Armed Forces.

The program commenced with the presentation of colors and national anthem performed by the American Legion 161 and Freedom High School Choir. True to the Memorial Day tradition, the program continued with Delta Vista and O'Hara Park Middle School students and Freedom High School students decorating a wreath with 6 votives, each in respect of the lives lost in the six major U.S. wars and conflicts that have claimed American lives.

After prayer and recognition of dignitaries, Frank Stonebarger, son of Gene Stonebarger, relayed a speech that accounted for his father's service.

The solemn and reverential tone culminated in the laying of the wreath performed by Cadets of Heritage High School JROTC program. The Marine Corps Detachment 1155 performed taps and the 3-volley salute.
