Year End Closure  
The City of Oakley is implementing a Holiday Closure for non-public safety City Services. Oakley City Hall Offices will be closed beginning at noon on Thursday, December 17, 2015 through Friday, January 1, 2016. Normal business hours will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2015.
 
In an effort to ensure public that safety is not impacted, sworn personnel in the Police Department will continue to serve the public.  
 
Additionally, the Building Division will be providing limited Inspection Services on: Monday, December 21nd, Tuesday December, 22nd, Wednesday December 23rd, Monday, December 28th and Tuesday, December 29th.
  
Hometown Holiday Decorating Winner   
We would like to congratulate the winner of the Hometown Holiday Decorating Contest. 733 Solitude Way is the winner! Thanks to all who participated by entering the contest, as well as those who voted.  
Holly Creek Park Receives New Playground Rubber Bark 
The City of Oakley was awarded Grant funding from the State of California Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to purchase and install "Rubber Bark" at the Holly Creek Park playground.
 
This week the Oakley Parks and Landscape Division is installing this recycled Rubber Bark which replaces the use of shredded wood chips in the playground that have been used in the past. 
 
Swords to Plowshares, Oakley Enter Partnership to Serve Local Veterans
    
Swords to Plowshares, a leading veteran service organization in San Francisco, has entered into a community partnership with the City of Oakley to address the needs of veterans living in Contra Costa County. 
 
Chris Adame, Swords to Plowshares Workforce Community Liaison, said "The first step is a needs assessment survey. Click here for that survey. The survey is geared to provide a more accurate depiction of local military and veteran population's employment prospects, improve resource utilization, and develop new strategies to get veterans engaged in the local workforce."
 
Breakfast With Santa Event 
Santa took time out of his busy schedule to join 26 families for breakfast this past Saturday, December 12th at the annual "Breakfast with Santa". Guests dined on a delicious continental breakfast while the children did an arts and craft project, then visited and posed for photos with Santa. A jolly time was had by all!
