Middle & High School Students Invited to Oakley's Youth Summit, THIS SATURDAY!

Oakley Middle and High School Students have you registered for the Oakley Youth Summit? It's not too late!
It's scheduled for THIS Saturday, November 14th from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. This is a FREE interactive and exciting event (includes a free lunch too) that will include fun and informative workshops such as Delta CrossFit, How to Get a Job, California Sexting Laws & Consequences, How to Help a Suicidal Friend etc. The keynote speaker will be Mark Duncanson, Executive Director of Creatures of Impulse. City Council Meeting Debrief
|
At the Tuesday, November 10th Meeting of the City Council/City Council Acting as Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting the Council:
- Heard a presentation by State Senator Steve Glazer
- Received an update from Contra Costa Transportation Authority Citizens Advisory Committee Representative, Michael Dupray
- Adopted a resolution accepting the recommendations of the multi-jurisdictional task force's short-term and long-term solutions to improve response in the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District. At this point the Fire District Board of Directors, Brentwood and Oakley City Councils have approved the resolution accepting the short-term temporary mitigations that upon the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors agreement (set to receive and act on November 17th, 2015) would, most noticeably, re-open one of the closed fires stations on a temporary basis among other items, with each of the agencies sharing the cost.

The City of Oakley held its 4th Annual Veterans Day Observance Ceremony on Wednesday, November 11th. Oakley's program
included the Presentation of Colors, student essays, rifle salute and taps. This year's program also included the addition of live music performed by the Freedom High School marching band.

Seasonal Parks and Landscape Maintenance Laborer - Painter: Under general supervision, safely performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks in the cleaning, preparation, and painting of City parks and landscape facilities, fences, benches, trash containers, and may perform parks and landscape maintenance work as required. This position is "seasonal" and the assigned duties are expected to be accomplished in the temporary duration of employment. For more information click here.
