Oakley Pays Tribute to Veterans
The City of Oakley will hold its 4th Annual Veterans Day Observance Ceremony on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Civic Center Park, 3231 Main Street beginning at 11:00 a.m. Oakley's program will include the Presentation of Colors, student essays, rifle salute and taps. This year's program will also see the addition of live music performed by the Freedom High School marching band. Arrive early to the site of the Veterans Memorial for a pre-program performance that will begin at 10:30 a.m. 

 
This  year's keynote speaker will be Major General Daniel E. Helix. Major General Helix earned his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at UC Berkeley in 1983. Upon entering active duty, he was assigned to the 1st Armored Division as a Field Artilleryman in the Federal Republic of Germany.  In this capacity he served as Fire Support Chief, Fire Direction Officer, and as Executive and Personnel Officer.

Mayor at the Market Tomorrow!
Ace Hardware at 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  
Oakley's Mayor will be at our local Ace Hardware store tomorrow  to hear from you. There will be no agendas or speeches, just a chance to come out and introduce yourself and talk about what matters to you. Please stop by to talk about issues, ask questions, discuss concerns, and offer comments or suggestions.
Do You Know Of A Family In Need? Or Do You Want To Volunteer?
It is that time of the year! The Friends of Oakley have begun the effort to spread holiday cheer through their annual Christmas Basket Program. 

Registration will take place November 10th (4:00 p.m- 7:00 p.m), November 12th (4:00 p.m- 7:00 p.m) and November 14th (9:00 a.m- Noon). Registration will close after 300 families have signed up. This will take place at the Oakley Recreation Buildings located at 1250 O'Hara Avenue Oakley, CA 94561. Registration is limited to residents of Oakley who must bring 2 valid - current forms of identification, one picture ID and a utility bill.


Want to volunteer? Help is needed to register, to gift wrap, sort and distribute on the day of. For more information click here.

The Friends of Oakley are accepting donations that will in turn be provided to the registered families. Donations of unwrapped toys and nonperishable food (prefer no glass) can be dropped off in bins located at City Hall and other locations listed on their website. Thank you for your generosity.

Seasonal Parks and Landscape Maintenance Laborer - Painter: Under general supervision, safely performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks in the cleaning, preparation, and painting of City parks and landscape facilities, fences, benches, trash containers, and may perform parks and landscape maintenance work as required. This position is "seasonal" and the assigned duties are expected to be accomplished in the temporary duration of employment. For more information click here.

Lateral Police Officers: Under general supervision of a Police Sergeant or other supervisory/management staff, the Police Officer performs a variety of duties related to the protection of public health, safety, and welfare and the enforcement of applicable federal, state, and local laws; provides traffic enforcement and control; and carries out special assignments in a particular phase of police work. City Hall is closed the 1st & 3rd Friday of the month
