Introducing our New Finance Director 
After an extensive recruitment process, the City of Oakley has announced that Deborah Sultan has been selected to become Oakley's Finance Director.
 
Sultan holds a bachelors degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from San Jose State University. She comes to Oakley from the City of Sanger, where she has served as the Finance Director since 2011. Before Sanger, Sultan worked in finance for the city of Grass Valley and city of Santa Cruz. Her vast experience in municipal finance is in addition to 11 years in the private sector.
 
"I am excited to become a part of Team Oakley.   I look forward doing my part in helping the city achieve its goals and becoming an even better place to live, work and play," said Sultan.
 
Sultan will succeed Paul Abelson, who is retiring after a decade with the City of Oakley. Sultan has been up for an orientation and transition training with Mr. Abelson and is ready and enthusiastic to take the reins.
 
Mayor at the Market Tomorrow!
Lucky's at 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  
Oakley's Mayor will be at Lucky grocery store tomorrow  to hear from you. There will be no agendas or speeches, just a chance to come out and introduce yourself and talk about what matters to you. Please stop by to talk to about issues, ask questions, discuss concerns, and offer comments or suggestions.
City Council Appoints Representative to Contra Costa County Advisory Council on Aging  
On September 22, 2015, the Oakley City Council appointed Grayce Smith as the representative for the City of Oakley on the Contra Costa County Advisory Council on Aging (ACOA). The ACOA advises the Area Agency on Aging and the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors on all matters related to the development and administration of senior programs in accordance with the mandates of the Older Americans Act. If you have questions, suggestions or comments regarding senior programs, please contact Ms. Smith at (408) 840-1226.
Hometown Halloween Decorating Contest 
The Oakley Recreation Division is launching the 1st annual "Hometown Halloween Decorating Contest."  Dig up those spider webs, ghosts and goblins to decorate the front of your house and submit a digital photo, along with an entry form. Participants must reside in Oakley. The contest is limited to private residences, no businesses.  Limited to the front of your house, yard and roof (no interior or back yards please).

The entry deadline is October 15th.  Eligible photos will be posted online for the public to vote on from Oct. 16 - 22.  The winner will be announced October 23rd.

Harvest Festival Vendors Wanted  
The City of Oakley will be hosting the 7th Annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 17th from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Oakley Civic Center Plaza. Consider joining us to sell your wares, market your business and share your message.
 
We have extended the deadline and continue to accept applications from interested vendors.  Vendors are accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
