Fishing Derby a Success
The 12thAnnual Kids fishing derby was a huge success this past Saturday! A total of 112 children between the ages of 1 - 15 participated.  The children caught a total of 268 fish during the Derby.

Bridgehead Bait & Tackle generously donated 40 pounds of bait.  Volunteers from the California Striped Bass Association and the East County Student Anglers Club assisted the children throughout the day.  Roger Mammon from the California Striped Bass Association gave a brief presentation to participants and their families while the fishing data was analyzed. Vice Mayor Romick handed out the awards to the winners in three age categories.  The awards included a certificate and tackle box or backpack.

Families were treated to a free lunch after the awards were handed out.  This free derby has become a tradition that children and their families look forward to each year.  Thanks to all the volunteers who help make this program a success.

If you know any of the following kiddos, be sure to offer some congratulatory kudos for being Derby winners!
