At the Tuesday, August 11th Meeting of the City Council/City Council Acting as Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting the Council:
- Welcomed Ironhouse Sanitary District's new General Manager, Chad Davisson
- Adopted an ordinance that creates an expedited, streamlined permitting process for small residential rooftop solar energy systems
- Adopted an ordinance approving a development agreement related to the project know as "Dal Porto South, Planning Area 3" which is part of the East Cypress Corridor Specific Plan

Mayor at the Market Tomorrow Grocery Outlet at 12:00 p.m.
|
Oakley's Mayor will be at Grocery Outlet tomorrow to hear from you. Every month the Mayor will visit a local supermarket to allow you to talk to about issues, ask questions, discuss concerns, and offer comments or suggestions. There will be no agendas or speeches, just a chance to come out and introduce yourself and talk about what matters to you.

Free Mulch Available Once Again Tomorrow

Back by popular demand! Wood chips will once again be available for pick-up tomorrow, August 15th from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the City Yard at the corner of Neroly Road and Main Street (entrance on Neroly). Residents need to bring their own tools/shovels and bags/containers to load and carry the mulch, and a tarp to cover if necessary.
The wood chips are being offered for free through a partnership between the City of Oakley, Diablo Water District and West Coast Arborists, Inc. (WCA).

Yoga in the Park Tomorrow
|
Join the Oakley Youth Advisory tomorrow, August 15th for a peaceful yoga session at the Civic Center Amphitheater beginning at 10:00 a.m. The program will help melt stress and tension away through the practices of yoga. This is a free program and all ages are welcome. It is recommended for you to bring your own yoga mat, towel, and water.

Recreation Division Now Hiring!

Are you a youth looking for a job? The City of Oakley is now hiring Recreation Aides and Recreation Leaders. Applications are due no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24th.
Recreation Leader:
Some of the duties will range from leading participants in arts and crafts, sports, games, homework tutorials, and recreational activities, answering questions from the public, helping to plan and coordinate events, assist with set up as well as serving as a role model. Among the primary requirements are that you be 18 years of age or older, have a driver's license, available to work nights and evenings and can lift 50 pounds or more. Interested? Read more...
Recreation Aide:
Recreation Aides are needed to assist with our Youth Development Programs. These programs include the After-School Program, field trips, special events and family programs for Oakley residents. Key requirements include being 16 years of age of older, ability to follow written and oral instructions and an ability to work cooperatively with participants, staff, large and small groups, various age groups in a positive and constructive manner. Ironhouse Sanitary District to Celebrate 70 Years
|
For 70 years Ironhouse Sanitary District has pushed the boundaries of innovation to promote a healthy, clean environment for the residents of Oakley and, later, Bethel Island. On August 22nd, the district will host a family-friendly event to both remember the past and look to the future. Members of both communities are invited to come out and have lunch on the district, take a tour of the Water Recycling Facility, and get a look at the equipment the district uses to keep the environment clean today.
Children will have a chance to play in the Kidz Zone, while adults and families can enjoy live music. The event will feature a ceremony that concludes with the dedication of a bronze plaque honoring the men and women responsible for building the strong, environmentally sound sanitary district you see today.
