Cityhood Celebration Debrief 

The 16th Annual Cityhood Celebration held this past Saturday was a success! Over 9,000 people attended the festivities. This year our Cityhood celebration coincided with our nation's Independence Day which made the event even more memorable.

 

This family-friendly event brought the community together to enjoy great food, up-beat music, local vendors, and fun activities.

Now Hiring Finance Director and Seasonal Parks & Landscape Maintenance Laborer  

The City of Oakley is now recruiting for an experienced Finance Director and Seasonal Parks & Landscape Maintenance Laborer.

 

After 10 years of service to the City of Oakley, our current Finance Director, Paul Abelson will be retiring. We're looking for someone to fill these shoes and assume this important role. Under the general administrative direction of the City Manager, the Finance Director will plan, organize, and direct the financial activities of the City including accounting and financial reporting, treasury and investment management, debt management, operating and capital budgeting, payroll, business licensing, purchasing, and information technology. The final filing date for this position is by Friday, July 24, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.
 

Perform or Showcase Your Culture at the Heart of Oakley Festival! 

Planning for the Heart of Oakley is well underway! Save the date to join us on Saturday, September 19th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Want to be a part of the entertainment line up for the Heart of Oakley Festival? Or help showcase your culture by hosting one of the multi-cultural booths?

 

 

Interested performers can access the application via the You, Me, We Oakley  website. The deadline to submit an application is Monday, August 31st. YMWO encourages multicultural performances; however, it is not a requirement to perform. Last year's lineup included Ballet Folklorico Jaracue, Hip hop Natyam Dance Academy, Kucheza Ngoma II Dance Company, Keep in Time Dance Academy, Delta Road and other local performers.

Free Mulch Available Once Again on June 18th   

Back by popular demand! Wood chips will once again be available for pick-up on Saturday, June 18th from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the City Yard at the corner of Neroly Road and Main Street (entrance on Neroly). Residents need to bring their own tools/shovels and bags/containers to load and carry the mulch, and a tarp to cover if necessary.

The wood chips are being offered for free through a partnership between the City of Oakley, Diablo Water District and West Coast Arborists, Inc. (WCA).

Monday-Thursday 8am-6pm and Fridays from 8am-5pm

City Hall is closed the 1st & 3rd Friday of the month
