City Council Debrief    

At the Tuesday, June 9th Meeting of the City Council/City Council Acting as Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting the Council:

  • Proclaimed June 2015 as California Safe Digging Month in Oakley
  • Recognized the following Oakley Youth Advisory Councilmembers for each of them providing over 100 hours of volunteer/community service: Xochtil Fernandez, Derek Furr, Morgan Henderson, Elias Juarez, Joe Lagano, Hannah McCartney, Simon Mendez, Dalton Puckett, Julissa Ramirez, Jazzlynn Riddle, Bianca Tapia and Tiana Weeks.
  • Approved the construction agreement for a capital improvement project that will repair and replace damaged/uplifted sidewalks or curb and gutters to eliminate trip and fall hazards. This project has targeted a number of the sidewalks beyond temporary repair and implements the "50-50 Cost Share Program" by which the City manages the repairs for homeowners responsible for improvements adjacent to their homes.

Movie in the Plaza and Film Fest Tomorrow 

Join us tomorrow June 13th around dusk at the City Plaza amphitheater for the "Movie in the Plaza series" featuring the new Disney classic "Maleficent". In addition, local student filmmakers with the winning entries in the Oakley Film Festival will have their films screened before the feature film starts at approximately 8:45pm.


Admission is free and there will be a snack bar with snacks available for purchase. Bring your blanket and lawn chairs to enjoy the movie under the stars.

Summer Blaze Day Camp Starts Monday!  

Summer Blaze Day Camp is back for another fun-filled program with exciting new games, arts and crafts and your favorite water games! This is a "drop-in" program for children ages 6 - 11. Parents have the flexibility of bringing children on the days of their choosing. Pre-registration is not required, however a completed registration form must be on file at camp before a child can attend. Space is limited to the first 100 participants each day and costs $10 per day or you can purchase a pre-paid punch card for five days of camp for $45 at City Hall.

 

Come prepared to beat the heat with a sack lunch, clothes that can get wet, a towel, sunscreen and water.

  • Tuesdays- World of Discovery at Crockett Park*
  • Wednesdays- Novarina Park
  • Thursdays- World of Discovery at Crockett Park*
  • Fridays- Creekside Park

*Summer Blaze will now take place at World of Discovery at Crocket Park as the Freedom High School pool is closed due to a mechanical issues.

Oakley Welcomes Two New Restaurants 

The City of Oakley is home to two new restaurants, Sabrina's Pizza and Mr. Pickles Sandwich Shop. Sabrina's Pizza is owned and operated by Oakley residents Paul and Kim Phillips, who named the business after their daughter. Sabrina's opened at the end of March in the Oakley Town Center off of Main Street. They had their official ribbon cutting on May 31st , which was attended by the Oakley Mayor, council members, Oakley Chamber of Commerce, family, friends, and customers. All were happy to officially welcome Oakley's newest East Coast style pizzeria and sports pub!

Now Hiring-Police Services Assistant 

The City of Oakley is hiring a full-time Police Services Assistant (PSA) to serve in the daily functions of the Oakley Police department. The PSA will provide a variety of non-sworn technical and administrative law enforcement support services for the Police Department.
