At the Tuesday, June 23rd Meeting of the City Council/City Council Acting as Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting the Council:
- Adopted a resolution approving the Subdivision Improvement Agreement for Emerson Ranch Park, which the developer is responsible for constructing at its cost. Once the Park has been completed and in conformance with approved plans and agreements the Park will be dedicated toe the City for use and continued maintenance.
- Approved a two-year extension of a contract (through June 2017) for on-call tree services, which include tree pruning, tree removal, stump removal, tree inspection and arborist reports, treatment for pests and diseases, and emergency response

Free Mulch Available Once Again Tomorrow!

Need some wood chips/mulch for your landscaping? Wood chips will once again be available for pick-up tomorrow, June 27th from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the City Yard at the corner of Neroly Road and Main Street (entrance on Neroly). Residents need to bring their own tools/shovels and bags/containers to load and carry the mulch, and a tarp to cover if necessary. The wood chips are being offered for free through a partnership between the City of Oakley, Diablo Water District and West Coast Arborists, Inc. (WCA).

Yoga in the Park Tomorrow!

Do you need a moment of peace and silence? If so, join the Oakley youth Advisory this Saturday, June 27th at the Civic Center Amphitheater beginning at 10:00 a.m., for some Yoga. The program will help melt stress and tension away through the practices of Yoga. This is a free program and all ages are welcome. It is recommended for you to bring your own yoga mat, towel, and water.

YMWO Citizenship Drive is Tomorrow!

Did you know there are an estimated 1,200 legal permanent residents (green card holders) who reside in Oakley and qualify for Citizenship?
In support of helping these individuals become citizens, You, Me, We= Oakley!, will be hosting the second Community Citizenship Drive of the year this Saturday, June 27th in the City Council Chambers, located at 3231 Main St. at 10:00 a.m.
YMWO Ambassadors will assist eligible permanent residents in completing the N-400 (Naturalization Application), which is required to become naturalized citizens of the United States. In order to be eligible to commence the naturalization process, a person must have 1) been a legal permanent resident for at least 5 years or 3 years if married to a U.S. citizen, 2) have demonstrated good moral conduct and 3) pay a $680 fee.

Main Street Reconstruction Project (Bridgehead to Big Break)

The City of Oakley is undertaking the reconstruction of a one mile section of Main Street. This section of Main Street (Bridgehead to Big Break) is a gateway to the city and is being reconstructed using, a Cold-In-Place Recycling (CIR) technology and Asphalt Rubber Hot Mix to address pavement failures.
CIR is a sustainable technology that utilizes the existing roadway material by grinding and remixing the existing asphalt with fresh asphalt emulsion binder and then compacting the material. The project is then completed by placement of an asphalt rubber wearing surface on top of the CIR layer.

Cityhood Celebration Is July 4th
|
The City of Oakley will host the 16th Annual Cityhood Celebration on
Saturday, July 4th at the Freedom High School Basin located at the corner of O'Hara Park Ave and Neroly Rd. This year's event commemorates both the anniversary of Oakley's incorporation as a City in 1999 and our nation's independence.
The celebration begins at 6:00 p.m. with free admission for all and a $5 wristband available for unlimited children's/teen activities. Children ages 5 and under can request a free wristband. Wristbands are also for pre-purchase at City Hall now.
