ECCFPD to Host Open House Tomorrow
|
Fire Chief Hugh Henderson on behalf of the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District Board and Staff invite the public to join them for their last open house. It will take place tomorrow, March 14th at the Oakley Fire Station located at 530 O'Hara Avenue at 3:00 pm. Residents are encouraged to take this opportunity to ask questions that will inform your vote regarding the upcoming benefit assessment.

East County Little League Opening Day Parade Tomorrow!
|
The East County Little League Opening Day Parade will be held Saturday, March 14th. Come watch over 1,000 participants parade down Main Street into the Civic Center Amphitheater for banner judging and then proceed to Oakley Elementary School Ball Fields for their Opening Day Ceremony and first pitch. The parade will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the corner of Vintage Parkway and Main Street. Main Street will be closed from Vintage Parkway to Norcross Lane, as well as part of Norcross Lane from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. so please plan to take alternate routes during this time.

Traffic Calming Meeting March 16th at 6:00 p.m.

Do you live in the Summer Lakes Subdivision? The City of Oakley will hold a meeting on March 16, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Shea's Sales Pavilion, located at 4016 Summer Lake Drive, to review and discuss traffic related issues and concerns raised by the residents. Police and Public Works Staff will be present at this meeting and will collaboratively work on addressing issues of concern according to the City of Oakley Neighborhood Traffic Management and Calming Policy.

Youth Employment Workshop March 18th at
|
Are you 16 years of age or older and looking to secure an awesome job this summer? Join us on Wednesday, March 18th from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m for a Youth Employment Workshop being hosted by the Oakley Youth Advisory Council in partnership with the Contra Costa County Office of Education and Contra Costa County Workforce Development Board.
The workshop will take place in the City Council Chambers, located at 3231 Main St. Learn how to fill out an application, interview professionally, and learn about summer jobs with the City of Oakley Recreation Division. Dinner will be provided after the workshop. For more information contact the Recreation Division at 925-625-7042.

Submit Your Original Film for a Chance to Have it Featured in the Oakley Film Festival
|
The City of Oakley is inviting East Contra Costa County high school and college students to submit their original films. This is a great opportunity to share your film's vision and/or message with your local community. A panel of judges will view each entry and select the films to be included in a screening on June 13 at the amphitheater. Winners will also receive a $100 cash prize. The Festival is open to East Contra Costa County high school and college students only. Films must have been completed after January 1, 2013 and must be no longer than 10 minutes in length.
