City Council Meeting Debrief
|
At the Tuesday, January 27th Meeting of the City Council/City Council Acting as Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting the Council:
- Took the last step (ratifying the results of an election- developer) to annex the Emerson Ranch Development into a Special Taxing District for the augmentation of police services for the Emerson Ranch Development.
- Established a Communities Facility District to be able to finance the increased levels of maintenance of neighborhood parks, community parks, regional parks, street lighting, landscaping, and storm water detention facilities for the Emerson Ranch property (northwest corner of East Cypress Road and Sellers Ave) which will be 567 single family parcels, a new 5 acre public park, etc.

A Message From Chief Dan on Driving Under the Influence
|
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is both illegal, and a tremendous danger to public safety. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that 10,000 lives would be spared each year if drunk driving was eliminated. Statewide, well over 150,000 people a year are arrested for DUI. In the City of Oakley, 80 people were arrested for DUI in 2014. This is an increase from the 73 people arrested in 2013. In addition to the tragedy that can result from DUI crimes, there is also a financial loss associated in the form of fines and court penalties. We in California love our cars. Driving is a way of life for many of us. Often times the inconvenience of a suspended driver license can result in lost wages and add great strain to a family's ability to make ends meet.

Community Blood Drive Coming Up

Ebenezer Community Church will be hosting the American Red Cross for a Blood Drive on Saturday, February 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Civic Center parking lot, located at 3231 Main St. Donors are needed every day. Do not wait to help save a life.
