Nutrition and Metabolic Issues in Psychiatry

Psychiatry Chief Resident at Bournewood Hospital
Dr. Peterson's presentation will include an overview of evidence for the role of nutrition in mental health as well as metabolic issues relevant to psychiatric illnesses and medications. Treatments will be discussed in terms of primary, secondary and tertiary illness prevention. Dr. Peterson will also focus on disease management in chronic mental illness as well as nutrition and lifestyle modifications and special programs.
Learning objectives: Upon completion of this live lecture, attendees should be able to:
- Present current evidence regarding the role of diet and nutrition in mental health
- Discuss metabolic issues relevant to psychiatric illness and treatment
- Describe chronic disease management relevant to nutrition and lifestyle modifications
