Miracle League Sponsorship
|
Thanks to Guys' Night Out, with an assistant from the Men's Breakfast Group, Faith Lutheran Church will again be a team sponsor in the upcoming season of the Miracle League, which offers the joy of playing baseball to some 250 Central Iowa children with special needs. All the offering from the February church breakfast, $482, was donated to the Miracle League because GNO covered all the food costs. The Men's Breakfast Group helped in the serving and clean-up. Thanks to an additional $18, Faith qualified again to be a team sponsor this spring season. The season opener is Saturday, May 7, at the Miracle League field, at the end of SW Fifth Street, just south of Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway in Des Moines. Jan Burch, a member of Faith, is president of the League's Board of Directors.

Please take this into consideration as you make your way to and from Faith.

All of the kids at Faith are awesome members of the community! We want to know about big accomplishments in your child's life so we can share them with the congregation. For example, we'd love to share if your child's baseball team won a tournament, rocked a role in their school play, volunteered in the community. Contact Erika or Andrea at cfm@faithlc.org.

SURGE is a local, two-night service-learning event (think "mini mission trip") with home base at the Gathering House. Students and adults alike will have opportunities to witness God's love in Christ through hands-on service projects throughout Des Moines, while also enjoying fellowship with their peers. All Faith students currently in grades 6-8 are eligible to participate in SURGE, which is scheduled for June 13-15 (Yes, that's during VBS. SURGE will be the only 6-8 grade programming during VBS, but they can still volunteer as helpers). The event will begin the evening of the 13th and end on the morning of the 15th.
