Children's Christmas Program at 10:30 this Sunday      

The pre-kindergarten through fifth grade Sunday School children presents the annual Christmas Program this Sunday, December 6, at 10:30 a.m. Follow the three angels in training as they grow through the Advent season and welcome the baby Jesus. Join us for this Christmas tradition!
Please note that this is in place of worship. 

Adult Sunday School 
Sunday, December 6, Matthew 25 will host breakfast at Faith. Come for the breakfast burritos, stay for the fellowship and learn about Family Promise of Des Moines.

On Sunday, December 13, The Reverend Sarai Schnucker Rice, Executive Director of Des Moines Area Religious Council, will be presenting. DMARC coordinates the largest food pantry network in Iowa and also the most efficient and healthiest food pantries in the country. Find out how they do it!

Christmas Ornament and Candle Fundraiser  

Youth and Family Ministry will be selling Faith Lutheran Christmas ornaments and Gold Canyon candles on Sunday, December 6, 13, and 20, from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in the Commons. All funds raised will be used for the 2016 mission trip to Minnesota's Leech Lake Indian Reservation. Help support the youth and get a few Christmas presents in the process!

Faith Hosting Family Promise Families December 20-27

Our congregation will be hosting Family Promise, homeless families with children, at the Gathering House from December 20-27. There will again be opportunities to prepare and/or serve meals, to host during the evening or overnight, and help set up and take down needed supplies. Sign-up sheets and additional information will be available in the Commons between services during the next three weeks. Please help us in providing for our guest families.

Cooking Club 

For December's Cooking Club, we will be bringing appetizers to share along with a $10 grab bag gift. Join in the fun on Thursday, December 10, at 6:30 p.m. in St. Michael's Hall.

Donations for for Crestview Families Meals Ends Sunday  

Faith Lutheran Church and Clive Lions Club are partnering this holiday season to deliver meals to Clive Crestview Elementary School families the second week of December. The Clive Lions Club will be donating the perishable items and need our help with the non-perishable food items, which include: dry beans, white rice, tuna, salmon, sardines, canned chicken, flour (5 lbs.), and sugar (4 lbs.). The hope is to collect 60 of each item to make holiday gift baskets. Donations will be taken through Sunday, December 6. Donation boxes are located in the Commons. Faith Stitchers Christmas Gathering

knit Faith Stitchers are changing their meeting place, on Monday December 7, to Mary Ellison's house at 13221 Rocklyn Drive, Urbandale for a Christmas gathering. They will gather at 1:00 p.m. and you can stay and visit as long as you like. Please bring a small appetizer, cookie, candy, or favorite bottle of wine. I will provide a hot holiday beverage and coffee. Please let Mary Ellison at or 276-6718 know if you plan on attending and what you will be bringing.

Altar Flowers 

If you would like to give a bouquet for the altar, please sign up on Faith's website. You will find the link under Quick Links/Signup Genius. Altar flowers are $50 per bouquet.

December Parents' Night Out         

The December Parents' Night Out will be Friday, December 11 from 6:00-10:00 p.m. We will play Christmas games, decorate Christmas cookies, make a craft, and watch Christmas specials. You can have a night off or get your Christmas shopping done! There is no cost. We do accept a free will offering that helps to fund our monthly mission projects. This event is open to infants through sixth graders. We welcome help from seventh graders and older. Silver Cord hours are available. Please let the church office know if you plan to bring your child(ren).

  • Wednesday, December 2: Faith Night ends at 7:05p.m. for Advent Service at 7:15 p.m. (30-minute service)
  • Friday, December 4: Cookie Exchange from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in St. Michael's Hall
  • Saturday, December 5: Sunday School Christmas Program Dress Rehearsal from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary
  • Sunday, December 6: Sunday School Christmas Program at 10:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday, December 9: Faith Night ends at 7:05 p.m. for Advent Service at 7:15 p.m. (30-minute service) 
  • Friday, December 11: Parents' Night Out from 6:00-10:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 12: Lessons and Carols Dress Rehearsal, 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary
  • Sunday, December 13: Lessons and Carols at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m., No Sunday School

Ski Trip Registration 

Ski Trip Registration is open for the 9-12 Grade Ski Trip to Welch Village on January 17-18! Trip details-including schedule, cost, and how to register-are available online at Contact Jake Bouma at if you have any questions.

2016 Youth Mission Trip Registration       

Registration is now open for the 2016 mission trip to Minnesota's Leech Lake Indian Reservation! Any Faith student (and their friends) currently in 9th through 12th Grades is eligible to participate in the Leech Lake mission trip, which is scheduled for July 9 to 15, 2016. To register, you must go to to fill out the appropriate forms.
