Sunday Service December 20 @ 10:30AM: The Incarnation: God & SatanAdapted from David Bumbaugh's The Education of God, this dramatic reading considers some of the afflictions of humanity while thoughtfully and humorously pondering theological questions appropriate for the holiday season. There will be no story for all ages. The children will go to their classroom after the Welcoming Song, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer".
Service: Rev. Linda Lawrence Facilitator: Gary Lawrence Thursday December 24 @ 5PM: Christmas Eve Service for All Ages: This creative and participative re-telling of the Christmas story will delight the whole family with a few surprises. Come and sing carols, find meaning in an age-old story, and celebrate with your church community. Participants: Rev. Linda Lawrence, Carmen Griffin and you. Sunday Service December 27 @ 10:30AM: Doing the Impossible
The virtues of compassion and humility are tightly bound. Feeling connected to other people requires us to relinquish the natural beliefs that "our" world is "the" world, "our" people are "the" people, and our troubles are special. I will share some experiences from my life that have shaken my egocentricity, however temporarily. Message: Gary Ezzell Facilitator: Gary Lawrence
The 2nd collection is for our Emergency Assistance Fund to help those both inside the congregation and those out in the community with emergency needs. Please make checks out to Sky Island UUC with EAF notation

Celebrate the Season After the Christmas Eve service on December 24, there will be time to visit with members and friends while partaking in some festive refreshments. There will be hot spiced punch and cider, hot chocolate, coffee and tea to sip & holiday cookies and other finger desserts to eat. We'll provide the beverages; you bring your favorite munchies to share and a good time will be had by all.
Reminder We keep finding doors unlocked and the heat on in the Community Room and/or the Sanctuary. Please if you're the last one leaving the building, take a few moments to make sure both thermostats are off and all the doors are locked even if you didn't turn the thermostats on or unlock the doors. However, if a freeze is expected, turn the heat to 45. Please keep the doors to the Sanctuary closed if you're using only the Community Room so as not to waste heat warming up both rooms.

Garbage/Recycle Cans
Please leave the tan garbage can and the blue recycle can on the sidewalk with rocks on top of them to keep them from turning over in the wind. No need to pull them out or put them back. Please do not roll them on to the rocks where they overturn easily. The garbage truck and recycle truck can pick them up from the sidewalk as long as they are at least 3 feet apart.

Ministry is All That We Do--Together. "Ministry is that quality of being in community that affirms human dignity-- beckons forth hidden possibilities, invites us into deeper, more constant reverent relationships, and carries forward our heritage of hope and liberation." Gordon McKeeman The above words remind us that all we do in this beloved community is ministry. We minister when we agree to serve on the Board, and we minister when we clean up after coffee hour. We minister when we serve on one of the committees, and we minister when we take the time to warmly welcome visitors, or when we share a hymnal with the person standing next to us, or comfort someone who has experienced a loss. We minister when we spend hours of time at home planning Religious Education classes for our children or planning a Sunday service, and keeping track of our finances. We minister when allow someone in the community to minister to us. Let us be grateful to one another for the gift of our many kinds of ministries. And when our efforts are imperfect (are any efforts perfect?), let us remember to see this as an opportunity to deepen our reverence for one another and for the efforts that are made. We are all ministers. Mark Stonebraker, Alan Boles, Burl Schultz and Patricia Burr Committee on Shared Ministry
