Bio for 11/22
Sandy Weir is a human rights advocate who is in community with indigenous persons and migrants from Mexico and Central America. She is also in community with persons of privilege who wish to resist racism and increase their understanding of intercultural issues. Sandy lives in downtown Phoenix and she is a member of the UU Congregation of Phoenix. She is a regular volunteer with the Puente Human Rights Movement and is on the board of the Worker Rights Center of Arizona. In 2011 through 2013, she was the local organizer for the Unitarian Universalist Association's Justice General Assembly held in Phoenix.

Bio for 11/29
Tina Squire grew up the daughter of a Foreign Service officer, so she either lived overseas (Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia; Canberra, Australia) or in the Washington, DC area.  Her mother grew up in Massachusetts where she was fourth generation Unitarian.  She got a BA in Russian Area Studies at Yale University and a Masters of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary.  She served two United Church of Christ churches, in Maryland and Tombstone, Arizona and was the Protestant Education Coordinator at the SHAPE NATO base in Belgium.  She has been a chaplain for Valor Hospice, covering most of Cochise County, for almost three years.

For Those with Impaired Hearing
We have equipment for anyone who has trouble hearing the service.  If you want to use one of the devices, please come to the sound booth at the back of the sanctuary 5 or 10 minutes before the service.  This gives us time to help you adjust the volume and run a personal sound check for you.

Dear Greeters and Welcomers
The yellow visitor cards are now available at each entrance on Sunday mornings.  Please hand them out to newcomers and encourage them to fill them out and drop them into the collection baskets or back into the yellow baskets when they've been filled out.

Chocolate for Sale!
The chocolate varieties are restocked! And we have a milk chocolate offering now too, due to a request. And the hot chocolate mix is back, just in time for cold weather and in a new, darker chocolate version. The sale of all our fair trade products not only helps the farmers who grow the cocoa and make the chocolate, but also helps support the UU Service Committee (UUSC) as well as our own Social Justice Committee.

Pot Luck for 11/26
We will be having a Thanksgiving potluck on Thursday, November 26 at noon at the church.  Whether or not you are spending the day with family or friends, join us, your church family, for a meal of Thanksgiving.  There were about 25 of us celebrating last year and we hope to have as many again. Check the sign-up sheet to see what to bring.  The sheet is different than usual because we need people to bring the Thanksgiving essentials. Sign your name next to the item.  Don't feel obligated to bring anything as we will have enough food and all of your family and friends are welcome. We will also have a sign-up sheet for the clean-up.

Never feel obliged to bring food.  You are always welcome.  Sue Mitchell, your Social Activities Chair

Poetry Anthology December 5 from 5:30-7:30PM
The long-awaited poetry anthology will soon be here! It's called Imagine, and it features over 100 poems by twenty-two Sky Island UU authors.  The book will sell for $20.  After publication expenses, any profits will go to Sky Island UU Church. The book's debut will be at an open mike poetry reading celebration on Saturday.  We are asking for a suggested $5 donation for the evening, which will include the program plus lots of delicious finger foods, drinks and desserts.  Everyone in the church and the larger community is welcome to attend, participate, and enjoy the evening.
