What's happening at the Library?

Gift Baskets and Cookies!
Fantastic gift baskets on display now
You've got to come see the 10 beautiful gift baskets made by our own Board Trustee Kate Monroe and on display until the raffle drawing on December 19. Buy tickets at the circulation desk for the chance to win: 1 for $3 or 5 for $10.  There's a basket perfect for almost everyone on your shopping list (or for you!).

Cookie Sale on Dec. 13
If you are one of our bakers, bring in your cookies in disposable containers on Dec. 11 or before noon on Dec. 12, and our Friends group will package them for gift giving. If you are one of our buyers, get to the library early on Sat. Dec. 13 before the cookies sell out!!!
Adult Programs
OPENING RECEPTION FOR DOREEN O'CONNOR
SAT., DEC. 6, 2:00 - 4:00 PM
Doreen O'Connor's murals grace the walls of Beekman Library every day, but this Saturday we are celebrating a new display of her lovely paintings. Stop by to meet the artist, nosh on some nibbles, and maybe buy a painting as a holiday gift!
For Families
WHAT TO DO DURING WINTER BREAK?
How about a little educational fun with your kids? (Don't worry, they don't have to know they're learning.) Your family can get free admission if you check out one of our museum passes to:
  • Mid-Hudson Children's Museum
  • American Museum of Natural History
  • FDR Museum and Library
Please call for details, as each pass has different guidelines set by the issuing museum.
We Love Crafting

FIND YOUR INSPIRATION
Stroll down the fourth aisle and check out the 740s for all sorts of ideas of gifts you can make up in a weekend or less! One Skein Wonders by Judith Durant, Easy Beading from BeadStyle Magazine, 10-Minute Cards to Give and Share and Share by Tanya Fox, Cutest Ever Baby Toys to Knit by Val Pierce, and more. Help your children make their holiday presents for loved ones with ProjectKid: 100 Ingenious Crafts for Family Fun by Amanda Kingloff or I Wanna Make Gifts by Clea Hartman.

WE SEEK CRAFTING EXPERTS
We're lining up programs for 2015 and looking for locals to share their crafting talents! What's your specialty? Fashion, textile, paper, decorative and/or functional crafts? If you would like to teach a class for adults, contact Jaclyn Savolainen at 845.724.3414 or email photos of your work and a brief overview of your teaching experience.
