WHAT IS SOCCER 4 SOLDIERS?
Soccer 4 Soldiers isn't just about soccer - it's about hope. We hear a lot about it. Our service men and women provide it to us because of the sacrifice they give to this country. But for many returning servicemen and women, their families, families of deceased veterans and wounded warriors, sometimes there seems to be very little hope.
Life is about transitions and for those military families where they may have lost a family member in service of our country or for a veteran coming home to a world that for them is different than the one they left, it can be traumatic and gut wrenching experience. Sometimes you don't know where to turn. Sometimes you need a little help. That's why Soccer 4 Soldiers was created.
Soccer 4 Soldiers is a day-long 4v4 soccer festival for boys and girls ages 7 and up. The proceeds raised through registration fees, concessions and other donations will all go to support the Travis Manion Foundation.
The festival is based on street rules soccer - 4v4 with no coaching. Small teams enjoying the day in the sun, supporting a fantastic cause. This is not a tournament about winning prizes. It's a tournament where at the end of the day, the winners are the cause we support. In addition to the festival there will be carnival games and concessions for everyone who just wants to stick around, have a great family day and aid this very good cause.
This year - Buckingham Soccer Club and the Apartment Association of Philadelphia aim to break previous records and raise a significant amount of money for this great cause.
The 5th Annual Soccer 4 Soldiers is scheduled for Saturday August 20, 2016 (Rain date 8/21/2016). The festival will be held at the Herbst Sports Complex on 5480 Durham Road (Route 413) in Pipersville, PA.
Each team can consist of up to 6 players. There are no coaches involved. Coaches or family members can assist with insuring subs are managed but that is all. This is all about the kids enjoying themselves.
Teams can register for one of three divisions - Travel, Intramural and Adult.
The Travel and Intramural divisions are broken up by the following age groups - U8 - U14 (boys and girls). The adult division will be broken up by 3 divisions - High School, Under 30 and Over 30.
Registration is $100 for 1 team and $250 for 3 teams.
All proceeds will go to support the Travis Manion Foundation.
