Dear Members & Friends of CBAA-
Spring is here and with it we have moved outside again for what we hope is a fun and rewarding season for our CBAA athletes, coaches, volunteers and parents. A few things to update you on:
- CBAA Basketball - We will be continuing our summer basketball league. Registration is now open and will close on May 13th. The season will tip off on June 3rd and wrap up August 3rd and 4th. All games will be played during the week at the Gary Ockenhouse Courts at Herbst Field in Plumstead, PA. Game times are 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30. Make up games will be played on the weekends.
- CBAA Lightning Lacrosse - This weekend (April 27 & 28) is the 2013 Irish Skirmish with over 100 teams from the Northeast participating in two days of Lacrosse at Herbst.
- TOPSoccer - Our program that provides a chance for our local special needs youth to play soccer is underway and always needs volunteers and buddies for players.
- CBAA Soccer- The Spring season started with March into Cup playing on green fields in the morning and snow covered fields by the afternoon. Fortunately, most games were played prior to stopping play; we made the decision to reschedule the second day until June. The good news was that there were no injuries, no damage to the fields and the visiting teams supported our decisions to terminate play and postpone the girl's tournament. Intramural Soccer is in full swing. State Cups, Spring leagues and tryouts are all underway.
- CBAA Board Meetings - We have changed our meeting schedule to every other month and we have shifted to Monday evenings - our next meeting is Monday, May 6 at 7:30 PM.
- Fields and Facilities - We will be closing one or two fields this summer in order to allow Texas Eastern to conduct maintenance on the gas lines that are located under the fields. Texas Eastern will pay for the restoration of the fields after the work is completed. Also Carriage Hill in Plumstead is scheduled to come on line later this year and should be available for CBAA for the fall - this will provide additional field capacity and allow us to conduct some long-term maintenance on our fields. We have also had discussions with Buckingham their expansion at Holicong Park which include several full-size playing fields.
Let me remind all Association members that CBAA needs more volunteer involved in supporting our programs. We have had an incredible response with new volunteers over the last year supporting the new CBAA Soccer program - Basketball and Lacrosse are looking for volunteers and we can tailor your volunteer time to meet your interests and time- please let us know.
Finally, please remember to support and respect the efforts of all players and volunteers including the coaches and referees who provide their time and effort to provide a safe and fun playing environment to our CBAA youth both during home games as well as when we are guests at away contests.
Sincerely,
Robert Law, CBAA Chair |

"You're-the-Kind of Person Who" Statements
by Jim Tho mpson
Children aren't born with a complete sense of self. They develop a sense of the kind of person they are through their experiences and how they interpret their handling of those experiences. How they think of themselves has a lot to do with how capable they are when dealing with life's adversities.
As coaches and parents, we can help our children begin to think of themselves as capable individuals through the use of.... [read more] |

Kids Castle
The Save Kids Castle Outreach Committeee are looking for support to work the Kids Castle tables at a couple formal events and some shifts on the weekends at our park by the Castle's entrance to help ensure that we are building awareness and raising funds for the Castle's restoration.
These volunteer efforts consist of providing information to anyone who stops by our table (flyers and information sheets will be provided to hand out). Additionally, the table will have a donation box, lawn signs, and Kids Castle magnets for those individuals that would like to donate and receive these tokens of appreciation. All the materials needed are packaged with instructions to ensure that this is a fairly turn-key process so your responsibility can be kept to a minimum.
Weekends at the Castle - Volunteer Sign up for Outreach to hand out flyers at the Castle
The following events are also planned and need staffing:
And Baked Good Donations are needed for Touch-A-Truck that same day ( May 4) - You can sign up here to donate baked goods
Do you like to have fun when you volunteer? Help out with our upcoming Casino Night
We realize that everyone is challenged with availability. We are looking for volunteers to commit to just (1) three hour shift. If everyone volunteered for a single three hour shift we would be completely staffed for all of our planned events and weekends. Please select the link next to the event that you are able to help support to gain access to the signup sheet for the event.
Thank you,
The Save Kids Castle Outreach Committee
