Come on out for some
"Rain Garden Revelry"!
We may not be able to stop the rain, but we can change how we manage it to prevent polluted run-off into our waterways. The Stewardship Foundation is working with the 12000 Rain Gardens Campaign, local businesses, schools, churches, and the City to promote installation of rain gardens as part of the storm water solution. Join us on Saturday, November 2nd, at the Civic Club for a festive wine & dessert event to support our environmental advocacy, and help bring rain gardens to Lake Forest Park!

Tickets are $25 each - rally your friends and buy a table of 8. Send a check to our P.O. Box (address below) or visit our website to purchase online at www.lfpsf.org. Seating is limited, hope to see you there!

Salmon Homecoming

October is time to celebrate the return of the salmon. There are many activities and events planned throughout the Cedar River Watershed this month, visit www.cedarriver.org Salmon Journey for more information and ideas.

Keep an eye out in our own McAleer and Lyon Creeks for salmon splashing upstream to spawn, with good stewardship we are hopeful to see more each year.

Go Natives, Native Plant Sales
Nursery Fall Plant Sales several weekends in October, including Oct.11 -12th at Kruckeberg Garden in Richmond Beach.

Visit www.GoNativesNursery.com for details.

Fall is a great time for planting!

Household Hazardous Wastemobile
The King County Wastemobile is coming to Bothell/Kenmore October 25-27. This is your opportunity to clean out your home and garage, and properly dispose of household hazardous waste
such as batteries, antifreeze, motor oil, pesticides, propane tanks, and more.

For location and hours, please visit www.hazwastehelp.org

Natural Yard Care
is for the Fishes
Remember anything you put in your yard may make its way to our streams and lakes carried by run-off and groundwater, so take care with your yard care!

Best to use phosphorous-free fertilizer sparingly and avoid the use of weed killers to protect water quality (thanks to the City for highlighting this in their recent CityNews).

Click here to visit the WSU King County Master Gardener website for more tips.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We'd love to have you join us!

"Rain Garden Revelry" event:
Volunteers needed to help with the event at the Civic Club on November 2nd, including set-up and clean-up. High Schoolers can earn community service hours. Adult servers needed to work at the bar during the event. Please contact Kim or Kecia at info@lfpsf.org or 206-361-7076 if you can help!

Join Our Board:
The Stewardship Foundation is looking for new people to join our dedicated group of volunteer Board Members. If you are interested in promoting environmental programs and policies to improve the quality of life here in our own watershed, please contact us by calling 206-361-7076 or emailing info@lfpsf.org. The Board meets one evening each month, and oversees our variety of projects from salmon in the schools, rain gardens, ivy-out, promoting sound environmental land use, and more. Bring your ideas and passions, we'd love to meet you.

Hands-on Work Parties:
We have some planting to do! Do you enjoy working alongside neighbors, digging in the dirt, fighting the good fight against non-native plants, and restoring natural habitat? Please join us for one of our Saturday work parties at the beautiful Grace Cole Nature Park! Call Mamie Bolender at 206-364-4410 or email mamiejb@hotmail.com for details.

Thank you for your support!
