A new study from Cornell reports that women are less likely than men to choose STEM-related majors because of gender differences in their high school career plans.

Spirit of Innovation Challenge  

The Conrad Foundation's Spirit of Innovation Challenge is a multi-phase, business and technical plan competition, free and open to students ages 13 - 18.

 

Student teams develop innovative products and services to benefit humanity and address global sustainability.

 

Top teams will present their innovations at the Johnson Space Center in Houston and vie for  $10,000 in awards.

 

Deadline for the one-page abstract qualification round is Oct. 24.

Maryland: Derek J. Berger, who teaches PLTW courses at Northern Garrett High School, has been named the 2013-14 Garrett County Teacher of the Year ... Missouri: A team of PLTW students from Hart Career Center recently placed first in the state's SkillsUSA contest and qualified for the national competition later this month ... Wisconsin: Wauwatosa West High School competed against 47 high school teams from Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin and won second place in their division at the Rockets for Education competition at Spaceport Sheboygan.
